"I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU!" Ruby yelled out.
When Ruby went to take Velvet up to bed, she hadn't expected to walk in on what she did. Finding Roman in bed with Lil Miss was bad enough but finding them in HER bed made it worse. No one has sex in Ruby's bed except her, better yet no one has sex in her apartment at all other than her. Now her bed was soiled and she would have to throw it out and buy a new one. Lil Miss being like a mother to her is another reason why she didn't like this. Roman was officially on her shit list now. Currently Ruby was being held down on the floor by Neo, Velvet, the twins, Junior, a few employees and oddly Zwei who's heavier than he looks. She was cursing, yelling and doing her best to struggle to get up. She had already managed to set fire to Roman's hair briefly when she threw a fire ball at him.
It had actually taken a while to get her to calm down enough that they could let her up. Ruby was still in a bad mood about it but was convinced to let it go for the most part. They had gotten her to admit they are both adults and she has no say in it but did have the right to be upset about her bed. Ruby did end up taking the bed, sheets, blankets and even the pillows out back of the club and burned them to ash. It only took 30 minutes for her to have a new one set up in her room. Aside from that incident things were going well. Her and Velvet spent some time together like normal but were more giggly and cuddly than usual. The two women were happy, Ruby was happy. Things went on like this for about week with Ruby being more cheerful. Of course her and Velvet had a serious talk about the night of the dance.
Velvet and Coco had gotten into an argument after Ruby ran off. The argument was about Coco's disapproval of Velvets relationship with Ruby. It had gotten very heated, more heated than it had ever been before. It escalated when Coco said Velvet would be flushing her life down the drain if she married that crazy bitch. Velvet had punched Coco square in the jaw knocking the other woman flat on her back. If other people hadn't been close by and heard them then Vel would have kept hitting her. After that when she couldn't find Ruby that's when she went back to the Club and started drinking. Although the alcohol hadn't agreed with her causing her to vomit. The bunny girl has had a lot of problems with keeping things down lately but she insisted she was okay and it was probably just stomach bug.
Coco was in love with Velvet and had been for a long time. It took Vel dating Ruby and having that threesome with them for her to realize it. So now she was jealous while Ruby got to have Velvet even though she didn't deserve her. She knows she fucked up just like everyone else with how they treated Ruby, but the woman was different now. The slightly younger girl is a crazy addict on top of being a criminal. Now Coco normally didn't like calling someone with obvious mental health issues crazy but this was different in her opinion. Ruby was delusional, quick to anger, cruel, malicious, a compulsive liar and acted like she was some kind of goddess. She could keep going and make a multi page list of all the things that the woman was.
The fashionista didn't trust her either, especially when it came to Velvet. She's afraid that Vel is going to throw her life away, to ruin it all for the sake of someone who is a horrible influence. Coco just hoped that Velvet would see how blind she is to the kind of person Ruby is now.
Ruby talked to Vel about Tulisa and the baby she had given up. It was hard to talk about but she managed to get it all out. It was the first time Velvet had ever seen Ruby cry and break down aside from the night at the dance. If she was being honest with herself, velvet didn't know what to think. She understood some of the reasons why Ruby did it. But the other reasons, the selfish reasons concerned her, would she do it again? Velvet wanted a life with Ruby, wanted a family with Ruby, but was that really possible? She loved Ruby, she really did but was she making the right choice? Velvet had to convince herself that everything was fine and would continue to be fine.
Velvet however did easily convince Ruby to set something up so Tulisa could meet her son. Ruby used her legal connections to arrange it, Aidens adopted parents were actually pretty open to it. Once the situation at least partially was explained to them they had no problem with the kid getting to know at least one of his real parents. Tulisa wasn't stupid, she knew it was Ruby who set it all up. She still hated Ruby, but still appreciated this. Ruby had watched the interaction on the hidden camera's, watched as Tulisa got to hold her son, watched as she broke down crying. Terra and Saphron comforted the woman, they offered to let her come and visit as much as she wanted. That resulted in the three women getting to know each other. And over the course of a month it seemed the couple had taken a liking to Tulisa that was more than just friendly.
Overall things were going good, they were getting better. Ruby felt like her life right now was for the most part almost perfectly blissful. She loved Velvet and Velvet loved her. Over the course of the month things only seemed to get better and better. Sure her relationship with Neo was on the rocks but she felt it could be fixed. Things with her former friends and family were slow going but was headed in a positive direction. She still wasn't sure if she could forgive them, however she was at least open to fixing things. It would take some time to repair any kind of relationship with them, although if it happened it wouldn't be a bad thing.
Zwei became a permanent fixture around the club, as Yang and Tai figured she could use at least some friendly company. Their thinking was that Zwei hadn't done anything to Ruby and was actually sad when she was gone. It turned out that when Ruby was in prison the little corgi would frequently run off and be found outside the prison walls. They didn't know how he kept getting there, and how at the speed that he did, but he somehow managed it. That dog was honestly to smart for his own good. Velvet loved having him around and played with him a lot. Zwei took a real quick liking to Neo and wherever Neo was, Zwei was there to. Neo didn't really like dogs but the corgi grew on her. At night the dog kinda became an unofficial mascot and bouncer and would frequently help the twins throw people out.
Junior wasn't fond of the dog and no matter what he did he always became Zwei's chew toy. Of course no one believed him and said he was exaggerating. Roman hated dogs but Zwei wouldn't leave him alone. Little miss loved the little dog and before she went back to mistral she would spend a lot of time around him. Ruby herself seemed to find herself being more calm with the dog around. She still didn't let down her façade around others but as soon as no one was around she would break down and dolt on the dog. So in general her life was going well but things don't always stay that way, life can take an abrupt turn and throw you off the road you were heading down.
Ruby had been in the basement of the club, the same basement she held the fights in. She used this basement for other things as well though. A recently hired employee of hers thought it was a good idea to steal from her. Ruby didn't like it when someone stole from her. The woman who stole from her was tied to a chair. She was bruised, bloody and crying while begging for Ruby to stop. But Ruby wouldn't stop, not until she told her where the money was.
It wasn't so much the money that had her pissed, but the fact that the money that was taken was for someone or rather something else. It was money that had been promised and sure she could easily replace it and she did. No one steals from charity, not even her, so this was a big deal for her. However it was still the principal of the matter to and the woman wasn't going to just get a slap on the wrist. Call it hypocritical if you want since she has stolen before but the difference was that she did it for a job, she did it to survive. This woman and apparently her boyfriend as well are just little adrenaline junkie clepto's that get off on stealing just because. At least that's what she thought until she found out they were white fang. No one steals from Mistress Rose for any reason and gets away with it. She would make an example out of these white fang animals for daring to steal from her.
While this was going on Velvet had heard the screams and yells of pain and crying while walking past the door. She knew she wasn't supposed to go down there but at the moment it had slipped her mind because of what she was hearing. She thought someone might be in trouble, maybe it was Ruby who was in trouble. She opened the door and went down the stairs. When she reached the bottom door and walked through her eye's went wide. She had walked in right as water was thrown on the woman. Ruby lifted her hand and snapped her fingers, instantly electricity sparked over the water and through the woman's body. Her body shook and convulsed as she cried out in agony.
Velvet felt her breathing quicken as her heart rate went up. She shook in shock and fear at the situation she walked in on. She started to back away slowly just to trip over a bucket. Ruby quickly turned around causing Velvet to get a good look into her fiancées flaming silver eye's. Ruby glared for a brief moment before realizing who it was causing her cold, cruel facial expression to turn into one of shock with a hint of fear. Fear that Velvet saw what was going on, fear that Velvet had seen this side of her. She didn't want Vel to be exposed to this.
When Ruby went to move towards her velvet profusely apologized before quickly running back upstairs. Ruby went after her, because of course she went after her, why wouldn't she? Ruby found Velvet in the apartment sitting nervously on the couch. When Vel looked up she had a nervous and fearful look on her face. That look made Ruby frown and her shoulders slump. She didn't like seeing anything but smiles on that girls face. Velvet didn't agree with what Ruby was doing regardless of the reason and she voiced that opinion. Ruby told her that she knew that she did things like this, that she wasn't a saint. Velvet knew she did plenty of things where very illegal. But still Velvet held her ground and an argument started. The argument got heated as they yelled and screamed at each other. And then it happened, Velvet said something she shouldn't have, something she knew she shouldn't say.
"YOUR ACTING JUST LIKE CINDER!" Velvet yelled at Ruby.
Ruby froze in her tracks, her eye's went wide in shock before narrowing in anger. She was nothing like Cinder, nowhere close to being anything like that bitch. Velvet had no right to compare her to that woman. Ruby stepped towards Velvet her hand raised and went to hit her. Velvet saw it coming and braced for it but Neo caught Ruby's arm by the wrist. Ruby was yanked back and away from velvet with Neo now standing between them. At first Ruby was going to protest until she realized what Neo had stopped her from doing. She almost hit Vel, she was going to hit her. She felt ashamed of herself for what she was going to do. After Neo let her wrist go Ruby turned away and walked out. Velvet fell back into a chair and started crying, this left Neo there to awkwardly comfort the girl, a girl she wasn't exactly to fond of.
Over the course of the week Velvet and Ruby didn't spend a lot of time together. Things between them were tense, so much so that Velvet didn't like being alone with her, which hurt Ruby knowing that. About the time Ruby went to apologize and they sat down to have a serious discussion, shit hit the fan interrupting their conversation.
Turned out that Adam didn't like Ruby's treatment of his fang members she tortured. He didn't like the message she had sent back to him either after she caught the thieving spy's. The message she had sent back was, that if he didn't back off she would brand the other side of his face. The man had no right to be pissed in her opinion since he was the one who technically broke the truce by sending people to spy and steal from her. Personally she thinks he was just trying to find an excuse. He wanted this, he wanted to attack her and her people because he despised them. He was still licking his wounds from when he attacked beacon and thus his ego hurt.
There was an explosion at the front of the club that rocked the whole building and even the whole block. A huge hole now decorated the front of the building with white fang pouring in. The smoke could be seen even from beacon. Through smoke a tall figure emerged revealing it to be Adam. The clubs guards first priority was protecting the patrons and employees of the place getting them to safety down stairs. Ruby's guards could hold their own but it was Adam that was slicing through them with ease. The aura and semblance nullifiers were still working thankfully but Adam was still a formidable opponent even without them. It didn't take long for Ruby to intervene as she jumped down from her broken office window and drew her hidden knives.
She decided to forgo using her scythe as she didn't think she needed it, plus she didn't really use it that often anymore anyways. In part she was right about not needing it but she was to cocky and to arrogant. She vastly out matched Adam because of her non semblance powers but Adam was still just as experienced at fighting as her. He's a smart, strong and very focused individual. The faunus wasn't stupid as he knew many things others didn't, things he learned from working with people like Cinder. One of those things was this power the former Huntress in training had, he had seen it with Cinder, Ruby Rose was a maiden. And she could only be one maiden specifically, she had to be the summer maiden. He as well as cinder and by proxy Salem knew about the other maidens. Winter was locked up tight in atlas, spring was protected by the powerful and reclusive Raven Branwen, and fall was split between Cinder and Pyrrha.
Having seen Cinder fight plenty of times he figured he had a pretty good idea of what Ruby was capable of. Just as he was also aware of how she fought in both the past and the president. Despite the power he was facing, Adam still stood his ground, unafraid and unflinching. He had very little fear others especially those he considered to be his lesser. For as smart and focused as he was he was also single and narrow minded, he was like an animal that didn't know when to quit. Ruby was the first to strike with her knives clashing against his sword. They fought cutting down anyone who got in the way as the clinging of metal on metal echoed and blended in with the noises around them. Ruby was pushing him back while barely putting much effort into it. She was toying with him, prolonging things more than they needed to be. She was treating him like he was nothing, like he was a play toy, she was going to pay for taking him so lightly.
The fighting continued as Adam took a more defensive stance as he was waiting for just the right moment. Even if he couldn't win he was as least going to go down fighting. On and on he waited blocking and parrying her blows, as he felt the vibrations running down his blade. Finally after what felt like forever he saw it, and with a quick parrying strike he slashed Ruby across the face. He managed hit her right across her right eye, on top of lighting some fire dust as the blade connected. The small explosion of dust threw her back several feet as she came to a halt. Slowly she stood up her clothes burned and torn, blood leaking from her eye as the skin around it sizzled and bubbled and the smell of burning flesh filled her nose. The pain filling her head was immense, and her anger was just as bad.
"What was that you said about branding me?" Adam cockily said. "It looks like your the one wearing a brand now." He smirked.
That was it, Ruby's anger boiled over as his comment enraged her. Ruby took off running and using her powers she created a wind vortex to boost her forward. Using the vortex she was able to jump at him at a rapid pace. This time she would use dust of her own to quickly electrify her weapons. Adam hadn't noticed until it was to late as he blocked her blow causing the electricity to flow through his blade and into his body.
Using her maiden powers Ruby further charged the electricity. He dropped to his knees as spasms made his muscles give out. Without even saying a word Ruby engulfed him in fire. She stood there watching and listening to his screams as he was burned to death. The fang members that were still alive and fighting suddenly halted. They looked on as their fearless and powerful leader was burned alive. They were stunned and even some of the more radical of them showed signs of panic and fear. Ruby turned to them and one by one started setting them ablaze as she did Adam. Some dropped their weapons and tried to run but Ruby wouldn't allow it. No, she wouldn't let any of them survive. In fact she would hunt down every last member of the fang on remnant and slaughter them, she would show them what happens to rabid animals.
The place was filled with the smell of burning flesh and death with smoking corpses littering the floor. People were scared of what she did and even Velvet and Neo looked on in horror. When WBY and a few others from the school had finally gotten there they saw it. They had gotten there just in time to see Ruby turn Adam and the other fang members into nothing but charred remains. The smirk of joy on Ruby's face was disturbing and for the first time she didn't feel sick or ashamed of killing. When they looked at her and saw that malicious smirk and that spark of murderes joy in her eye's, it was like watching Cinder herself.
"I SAID FIX IT!" Ruby was yelling.
The doctor that was treating everyone was fearing for his life as Ruby demanded that he fix her eye. He kept trying to tell her that there was nothing he could do, that even with her aura the damage was to extensive. She was refusing to accept his answer as she threatened to dismember him for making excuses and not doing his job. It took Neo and Velvet both intervening to get her to calm down enough to be rational. Ruby wasn't happy about the damage to her face or the damage to the club. She was pissed and was taking it out on others, and that went on for over a week.
During that time her aura healed what damage it could but left her with a missing eye and scarring around the socket. She was forced to wear an eye patch that covered the socket as well as most of the scarring. She looked at herself in the mirror and hated it, so much so that she shattered it. After that she had every single mirror in the place removed and replaced any reflective surface with non reflective material. If some one made so much as a comment about her appearance the person would suffer for it. Neo and Velvet were the only ones who could calm her down. She was doing so well, getting so much better but now it's like she was going backwards. She was becoming more violent, aggressive, defensive and overall becoming darker. The drug and alcohol use was getting worse, Velvet had even been there a few times when Ruby got high, which broke the promise she had made to Vel.
Ruby was on her way back to her room after spending most of the day doing paperwork in her office. Upon entering she immediately went on guard as someone walked out of the shadows.
"My, my, look at you. It's like looking in a mirror." The intruder chuckled. "I didn't know you idolized me that much."
"Cinder!" Ruby growled as she readied for a fight.
"There's no need for that, I'm not here to fight." She waved her hand in dismissal. "Im here to talk nothing more."
"Yea right." Ruby scoffed. "Conveniently after your wild animal attacked me."
"He was exactly that, a Wild animal. He was becoming difficult to control, so you did me a favor." Cinder sat down in one of Ruby's chairs.
"And I'm supposed to believe that?" Her eye's followed the older woman.
"It's the truth, besides your the one who provoked him after you caught his spy's." Reaching down into her cleavage she pulled out a cigarette and lit it with her powers. "Unlike Adam I have upheld the terms of your clubs neutrality. I prefer you being out of my hair."
"Then let me guess, once again your going to ask me to join you?" Ruby continued to watch her.
"Very perspective." She chuckled.
"My answer is still no. I can't stand you, so fuck off." She growled at her. "My life went to shit because of you! Even now everything is your fault!"
"My fault?" Cinder raised a brow as she took a puff of her cigarette. "I do believe your more than capable of making your own choices." She stood back up and took a few steps towards Ruby. "I only did so much, the rest you have no one to blame but yourself."
"SHUT UP!" She yelled. "I have only done what I have had to! If you hadn't fucked me over none of it would have ever happened!"
"It's not nice to blame others for things they didn't do." Cinder told her.
"Shut up!" Ruby said.
"As soon as you stepped foot out of that jail you could have done almost anything you wanted. You had the freedom of choice and you chose the path your on now." She blew out some smoke. "No one made you become ruthless, no one has made you lie, cheat and steal."
"Shut up!" Ruby once again said.
"All the people you have hurt and killed since being free was of your own volition. So much power and yet you abuse all of it." Cinder half smirked.
"I said shut up!" She yelled. "Leave!"
"You know if I didn't know any better I'd say that your just...like...me." She knew she was getting Ruby riled up, and while finishing her sentence she had gotten closer to her.
Ruby lunged at Cinder taking a swing at her with her knife. Cinder simply grinned as she elegantly dodged it. Again Ruby went after her trying to cut into her flesh but again Cinder dodged. Ruby's anger was boiling and she wanted blood. She hated Cinder with every fiber of her being. Not wanting a conflict was one of the reasons she never tried to end Cinder's life that and the fact that Cinder was good hiding. The woman had showed up a few times before wanting Ruby to ally with her but she always told her no. Cinder also had very little love for Ruby but loved toying with her on the few occasions they interacted. Oh how she loved getting under Ruby's skin, loved provoking her, and loved teasing her. She used Ruby's anger to get an advantage and disarm the girl.
"Kinky." Cinder said as she smirked after Ruby had pinned her against a wall. This resulted in Ruby slamming her against the wall as hard as she could while trying to choke her. "You really do like it rough don't you." She laughed. "So do I." She leaned up putting her face inches away from Ruby's.
Neo had spent a lot of time thinking about everything, about Ruby, Velvet, the club, and even her own life. She loved Ruby and she wanted to be with her but she knew Ruby didn't feel the same way. She was engaged to Velvet, she was starting to at least be on some sort of civilized terms with her former friends and family. She was pushing her away wether knew it or not. Maybe Ruby simply didn't need or want her around anymore. She used to come to her about everything but now she goes to Velvet. Sure they were having some relationship troubles but it didn't seem like anything that they couldn't get passed. Ruby seemed to always listen to Velvet or at least comprise with her.
Sure Ruby seemed to be getting worse mentally but maybe this was just who she was. Maybe deep down this darkness was just hidden and would have came eventually regardless of how her life went. No, Neo didn't want to think that way, she wanted to believe in Ruby. She decided she was going to talk to Ruby, voice all her concerns and finally come clean about her feelings as well. Sure Ruby might not feel the same but Roman was right, she needs to get it all out for better of worse.
Neo didn't her in her office so she decided to check her apartment. Upon opening the door she saw that the place had been torn apart. Scorch marks everywhere and the smell of ash and smoke filled the air. It didn't take a genius to figure out that there had been a fight. She heard noise coming from Ruby's room. She quickly ran to the door fearing Ruby might be hurt. The door was open with some light shinning out and shadows moving on the wall. Getting to the door Neo looked in and stopped dead in her tracks. She went into shock with her eye's wide and her mind panicking. The multi colored woman felt her stomach twist into knots as she started to feel sick to her stomach. She needed to get out of there and quick before she was seen.
Neo slammed her glass of whiskey onto the bar with Junior serving her another one. At some point he tried to cut her off but Neo took the bottle and threatened him to back off. She couldn't believe it, didn't want to believe it. How could Ruby do that!? She might not have been a fan of Velvet but to do that to Velvet again, and with THAT woman of all people. God it made her feel so sick, it was disgusting and wanted that image out of her head. No matter how much she drank her mind still kept playing the scene over and over. It was like a living nightmare that she couldn't escape, not even in her dreams after passing out.
The next day after Neo sobered up she was able think clearly about last night. Neo felt her heart break as she spent some time crying before she actually got up out of bed and got a shower. She couldn't do this anymore, it was tearing her apart. Once she got cleaned up she went to Ruby's office. Ruby was sitting there like nothing happened last night.
"Neo?" Ruby question, seeing the strange look on her face. "Something wrong?"
"I know about last night." She signed.
"What about last night?" Ruby asked.
"How could you!?" Neo said.
"How could I what?" Ruby looked at her confused. "Your not making much sense."
"With HER of all people!"
"Neo, what the fuck are talking about?!" Ruby slightly raised her voice.
"CINDER!" She all but yelled in sign language. "I saw you with her last night!" Ruby looked at her for a few seconds before it clicked.
"I don't know what your talking about." She lied as she simply went back to filling out some papers.
"BULLSHIT!" Neo knocked the papers off the desk.
"I'm not talking about this." Ruby was trying to maintain herself. "I don't know what you think you saw but..." She was cut off.
"For once can't you just admit to something instead of lying to me!"
"What do you want me to say Neo!" Ruby yelled as she stood up. "That I fucked up last night? That I feel sick thinking about what I did? That I hate myself for it? Because I do!"
"I just can't understand why!"
"I don't know why, okay!" Ruby came to stand in front of her desk. "I keep replaying it over and over in my head but I just...I just don't know. "
"I can't do this anymore Ruby." Neo shook her head.
"What?" She looked up at Neo.
"I'm done, with all of this, I can't do it anymore." Neo told her. "I'm leaving."
"So that's it? I fuck up once and you would break your promise and leave?" Ruby was getting angry.
"It's more than that, it's so much more." Neo turned to leave but Ruby quickly grabbed her.
"You can't just leave me! You promised!" Ruby said as she gripped Neo's arm.
"Not all promises can be kept." Neo told her after pulling her arm free.
"Your just like everyone else." Ruby said through gritted teeth. "Breaking promises and abandoning me!" She clenched her fists in anger as she stared Neo down.
"Maybe you should practice what preach then." She shook her head. "How many promises have you broke? How many people have you abandoned?"
"I've ever..." Ruby was going to try and defend herself but was cut off as Neo wasn't finished.
The multi colored woman had so much on her mind and she needed to get it all out. She didn't want to say any of this, but it needed said, Ruby needed to hear it. There was no telling how this was going to play out but fuck it.
"Don't even try to lie!" Neo singed before jabbing a finger into Ruby's chest. "For all your talk of hypocrites and contradictions your just as bad. You constantly break promises, constantly abandon people, people like your own damn son!"
"Don't you dare bring him into this!" Ruby growled.
"I have stood beside you through everything!" She emphasized. "Through prison and your pregnancy, I was there when you gave him up. I was even there for you after you killed Carmine." That part made the other woman start to simmer even more with anger. "I'm the one who's constantly cleaning you up after you pass out almost every night. I'm the one that's been there after the multiple times you've overdosed."
"STOP! Stop talking! Just shut up!" Ruby yelled.
"I have stood here and watched you destroy yourself, watched as you let your conscious and inner light just fade away. And I can't do it anymore! I just can't!" Neo started backing away. "If you want to keep blaming everyone else, to keep lying and pushing everyone away fine be my guest. But I won't be there to pick you up anymore, I worked for Cinder once and I refuse to help her clone." She turned around and went to leave. Before walking out the door Neo faced her one more time as she had Ruby start moving.
"I'M NOTHING LIKE HER!" Ruby yelled as she tried attacking Neo. Why? Why did everyone keep comparing her to Cinder!? Why did everyone keep leaving her? Always blaming her? Always saying she needed help? She was fine, it was everyone else who wasn't fine!
Neo had no problem countering her as she was able to quickly take Ruby to the ground. When Ruby's eye's lit up she found the tip of Neo's umbrella blade press against her throat. Ruby's body stiffened up as the flames went extinct and her eye's went wide in shock with a hint of fear. Neo had a look of sadness in her eye's like she was about to cry. Neo simply shook her head, retracted her blade and walked out.
"FINE! LEAVE THEN! I DON'T NEED YOU!" Ruby yelled out at her. "I don't need you." She mumbled softly to herself.
