Historia was awkwardly sitting on the throne, inside the council room. The atmosphere of this meeting was extremely heavy. The members themselves, hadn't been detained, however many lower administrators were put in prison. This created some tension between the officials, and the new, military rule.

The blonde looked over the faces of people present. Indeed, they did not seem happy in the least. While some were visibly furious with how the events had unfolded, others were simply keeping their reservations to themselves. It was clear that this meeting would end in some kinds of concessions, so pretty much everyone was unhappy.

The future queen closed her eyes to gather her thoughts.

"Are you Historia Reiss?"

The battle was over, and the MPs had been defeated. Her sister was unconscious and would soon be put into prison. All in all, the rebels were happy right now, in their blissful ignorance, of what was to come.

"Yes" the female blonde responded looking at the leader of the rebellion, Erwin Smith.

To pretty much everyone he met, he seemed a cautious, clever and charismatic man. His eyes were scanning her form, as if to judge if she was capable for the task that he had for her.

"According to Levi, you support our cause" the commander spoke "considering your status, you are the obvious successor to the throne."

She knew that this topic would arise, sooner or later. Realistically, she just wanted Frieda to be punished in some way, for what she had done to Eren. She valued her life on the farm quite well, and even though that she was aware of that possibility, Historia never desired to be the monarch. She didn't really care that much for Paradis, Eldia, not even the truth itself.

But apparently, fate had other plans for her.

"It seems so" the girl responded, looking towards the form of her dear Eren, tending to Ymir.

The freckled female had just woken up, and given the look on her face, she was extremely grateful to the boy for sticking with her.

The fact that Ymir was a part of their relationship was here to stay. Historia didn't have anything against it, really, but the look of passion that appeared on Eren's face every time he was close to the freckled female, kind of infuriated her.

"…excuse me?"

It was only now that the blonde realized that she had spaced out.

"Sorry" she said, looking back at Erwin "what were you saying?"

"We want you to take power as the queen."

There it was. They needed her, because she was related to her monster of a sister. Taking her position seemed like a good enough revenge for harming Eren, though, so Historia would be more than happy to do so.

"I agree."

"Let us commence forward with this session" Kenny finally spoke, bringing the nervous talks around the room to a halt.

It was almost comical to see him speak in such a way. The rogue criminal that he once had been, using such a vocabulary really was something else.

One of the nobles stood up, before starting with his speech.

"I'm sure many of us are asking themselves the same question" he said turning towards Erwin "why exactly was queen Frieda disposed?"

Many of the councillors started nodding their heads in affirmation. It was pretty obvious that this question would arise, sooner or later, so answering it now, would be important.

"Frieda Reiss had acted against our best interest" Erwin spoke, looking at the man warily "she had kept the truth about titans and the outside world away from the public. After disbanding the survey corps, ruthlessly, she would continue on with getting rid of the opposition, until she became the true god that she had desired to be…"

Then, another official stood up from his seat.

"So, this really is about the survey corps, huh?" He said accusingly "good thing that you didn't immediately proclaim yourself as king, if power is what you're after…"

Historia suddenly felt the need to intervene.

"The fallen queen's crimes also include using her mind control powers against her closest ones" she explained, making the room go quiet "it's really better for her to be detained…"

Now, everyone was completely focused on the princess. Seeing that she had garnered their attention, Historia continued.

"Think about it" she said, pointing towards Eren, who was sitting next to her "if she had used her powers against someone as close as Eren Yeager is to the royal family, what gives us the impression that she won't use it against you?"

Her beloved boy looked away in shame. It was clear that he didn't want to discuss what happened between him and Frieda, so if no one diverted the conversation away from him quick, she could end up unintentionally harming her most important person in the world.

'Why did I even say this?' Historia asked herself, as a drop of sweat fell down her forehead.

Thankfully, Kenny came to the rescue.

"One Ackerman did not suffice, with keeping the fallen queen in check" he spoke, rising up "this time, there are three of us, so we'll make sure that she won't abuse her power."

The officials appeared to have mixed feelings about those conclusions. While they were still terrified of Frieda's abilities, the promise of the new rule keeping closer look over those, sounded extremely appealing.

"What about the plan?" Another noble asked, suddenly.

"The plan stays" Kenny assured "it was a great idea to begin with and many more of us have been working on it. As we speak, my men are risking their lives by arming the Eldians on the continent."

Realistically, they still had other options. The power of the wall titans was immense, so if they so much as wished, they could unleash this hell on earth, so that their island would survive. Yet, the perspective of the rumbling terrified even the most radical scouts, so they've decided to put their main focus on realizing Frieda's plan.

"I think" the official that previously attacked Erwin spoke once again "that in order to evade the abuse of power, some things will have to change…"

As the man was listing the various privileges and concessions to the nobility that ought to be given, Historia thought about her new role in this world.

The burden of the crown, as Frieda used to say, was indeed heavy. Even though it's only been a day, ever since the military took over, she could already have some taste of the responsibilities that would soon fall upon her shoulders.

She looked towards Eren.

The boy was slumped over the table. Gone was his usual smile and conviction. Instead, he seemed more like a harmed puppy, than his normal self. Next to him, Ymir was whispering some words of encouragement into his ear. It was true that the boy needed to be shown love, right now, yet her new position didn't provide her with much free time.

'At least, Ymir makes him happy' she said, noticing a small smile appear on his face, as the freckled female placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Alright!" Kenny exclaimed, once everyone agreed to the terms proposed by the official "that just about sums it up."

Officials started flooding out of the room. Even Ymir propped Eren up, in order to take him to a more comfortable location. Giving Historia a weak smile, she turned around and led the boy away.

Could this be how Frieda felt…?

'No' she thought to herself 'nothing can exonerate her actions.'

"You holdin' up?"

The blonde looked up to see that aside from Kenny and the commanders, everyone else was gone.

"Everything is happening so fast" Historia admitted, bringing a hand to her forehead "a week ago, I was living happily on my farm, with my friends… Now, I have to become the queen…"

"Don't worry 'bout that" the old Ackerman spoke, sitting on the table "we'll help you until you're capable of handling things by yourself."

"Thank you…"

Kenny looked away, trying to hide the small blush that appeared on his cheeks.

"Yeah, sure" he said "anyway, does your family have some secret heirs, or distant family?"

Historia took her time to think about it. Siring a successor was an important issue for any monarch, and better done sooner than later. And given that Frieda had no children, the responsibility was now on her.

"Aside from the woman that gave birth to me, I have no other relatives" the blonde princess replied gloomily.

Erwin looked away from her, flustered.

"Well," he said, "I guess that unless an heir miraculously appears, you're going to have a very difficult talk with that friend of yours."
