Chapter 8: Doubt
The last bell of the day finally rings.
Students vacate the gymnasium - as do the rest from in the classrooms within the academy building, and either head to their shared bedrooms or wherever else Kenny doesn't care about knowing. There is only one thing on his mind—no, not a thing, a vampire. He drapes his blazer across his shoulders as he ambles out of his fourth and final class, getting the strangest sneaking suspicion that something happened to his best friend.
Once he's outside in the rain, he stops as he recalls what happened an hour or two ago.

"He took Tweek to the infirmary, but didn't come back to the gym," Stan had informed him at the time they were heading to their third class. He was carrying a binder while Kenny had a notebook.
"Why? What happened?" Kenny asked giving the other a corner-eyed glance.
Stan's lips went into a hard line. "Tweek's neck started bleeding. I was gonna take him to the nurse, but the guy insisted he take him instead, so I let him. I didn't think he wouldn't come back, but maybe he stayed with him throughout the period."
Kenny stopped in his tracks, causing Stan to do the same after taking one more step. He turned to the blonde, who was trying hard not to show how troubled he was becoming.
"What's wrong?" Stan asked frowning confusedly.
"I'm going to the infirmary." Kenny took off, ignoring Stan telling him to wait. He rounded a corner to the next hall, dodging past vampires as if they were bullets from a gun. A teacher scolded him for running like a mad man, but he ignored him also, acquiring a very bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. He didn't know whom to be worried for, but the odd ache in his gut discerned that both teens equally suffered something in the end.
After a minute, Kenny slowed his pace when he saw the noticeable white door on his right.
Only a few students loitered in this part of the hallway, heading to a classroom more than several doors down from the infirmary. He stopped in front of the nurses office, taking one deep breath to calm himself down, then knocked on the door with his free hand. He looked confused when the male nurse didn't open the door as quickly as he usually did, but didn't bother to knock again. Instead, he placed a hand on the doorknob and turned it, slowly pushing it forward only to halt instantly at a sugary smell entering his nostrils. He didn't know whether to make a face of disgust or drool at the scent, he was never crazy about sweets, but this was something he'd never inhaled before.
Hazel eyes narrowed in suspicion. "There's no way that's candy I smell." With one gentle push, the door opened all of the way and the sweet aroma became stronger. Kenny glanced around for the source, quickly spotting it not a split second later.
"Tweek?!"
Kenny stepped into the room with haste, not bothering to close the door behind him. He dropped his stuff on the empty bed, carefully approaching the other one that occupied the crazy-haired blonde. He took immediate notice at two things, the first being the human's position. The top half of his body was on the mattress whereas his feet touched the floor. The second and most critical was his sickly appearance, his breathing was heavy and shallow. Kenny took a closer look at his neck, frowning when he saw small, thin lines of blood leaking from the bite marks he'd gotten from Craig. Those shouldn't be giving off such a robust smell, Tweek was definitely bleeding somewhere else...
Kenny examined the human's body for any other wounds. When the sweet scent became more prominent, he knew he'd found the injury. His frown deepened expressing his doubled uneasiness. On the opposite side of Tweek's neck were fresh canine bites, two small trails of blood oozing from the punctures.
Quickly, Kenny grabbed the roll of clean bandages that was near Tweek's head on the bed, and began applying it around his neck. Kenny knew how to restrain himself when it came to blood better than most in this academy, so he's able to disregard it as any other ordinary smelling blood. It took just about five minutes for him to finish, it wasn't the neatest but it covered both wounds so it was good enough. As for the venom...Kenny could only hope for Dr. Kero's quick return.
He ripped off a strip of gauze to wipe the remaining blood from Tweek's neck, crumbling it up into a ball then tossing it on the white nightstand in the middle of the two beds. Deciding to fix the shorter blonde's posture, he took the teen's shoes off then hauled his legs up on the mattress, straightening his body with his head a centimeter away from the pillow. Kenny gently lifted Tweek's head a little to slide the cushion underneath him.
Stepping back, Kenny frowned at the severity of Tweek's condition. "Dr. Kero isn't the type to lose control like that at the mere scent of blood, so this obviously wasn't his doing...So that means..." He narrowed his eyes. "You didn't do this, did you, Kyle?"
/
Kenny grits his teeth, still refusing to believe that Kyle was the one who had rendered Tweek to such a fatal state in the infirmary. He resumes his walk into the academy building.
