Chapter 11
Battle for Gaul.
The assault on the region of Gaul has begun, the roars of soldiers clashing echoed across the once peaceful landscape. Boudica and Spartacus lead the initial assault so that Nero and Chaldea can go after the Enemy camp and face the enemy Emperor.
"Follow me! Let us take back Gaul from the false Emperor!" Nero said, leading the charge to the enemy camp with Chaldea right behind her.
"Right!" Everyone, minus Doomguy, said in unison. It wasn't long before they ran into some resistance. A magical creature that was humanoid, blue skin, bone-like claws and a skull for a face appeared out of thin air.
"Is that one of them?" Ritsuka asked, guessing if it was from hell.
"Negative, this one is native to this world. Identification: Daemon." Vega said.
"Well, that's some good news for once. Mashu, get ready!" Gudao set and his servant nodded and charge at the monster.
"I shall assist you, Mashu!" Nero said as both female warriors rushed the Beast. Doomguy decided that it was his turn to watch the masters for a battle. This thing looked tough but not that much stronger than a few Hellknights, which Mashu was more than capable of demolishing. Nero seemed also able to fight off creatures of darkness which made him question if the woman was a servant.
"Take this!" Mashu grunted, smashing her shield against the Daemons head after a large jump. It recoils leaving it open for a quick flurry of flaming slashes from Nero's prized sword. The beast swipes at the woman in red with its bone claws but she dodges them with grace. Another few quick attacks from the duo and they kill the Daemon without even a scratch on them.
"Good Work, however, I am detecting More non-human, non-servant combatants approaching. Classification: Golems. I recommend dealing with them swiftly so that we can proceed." Vega said.
"Can you clear a path for us, Doomguy?" Ritsuka said as if that was an issue for the hellwalker.
Without wasting any time he charges the Ballistas destroyer blade and fires shots at the charging stone soldiers. The blade cleaves through them leaving their disembodied upper torso's to attempt at fighting.
"Umu, Great work Praetor Slayer! You take points with that devastating weapon of yours!" Nero said as they pushed forward. Only stopping for Doomguy to charge his weapon to clear another wave of Golems.
It didn't take them long to reach the enemy camp that one of the False Emperors was stationed. Doomguy kicks the Gates open only to find the camp mostly empty with one man standing in the only open area of this vastly huge troop camp.
A very...round man in as his gold colour chest plate was no doubt protecting a large gut. The rest of his clothes match one suited for an emperor with red and gold that made up the rest of the outfit. The man looks at the intruders with a calm look in his green eyes.
"...So you're here, That was quicker than expected. To think I was about to get bored but it would've been worth it with that beauty of yours. So beautiful. Beautiful. Truly Beautiful, you is fitting for the world's greatest treasure...Rome! Heir to our beloved Rome. What did you say your name was " He asked Nero who fell silent while doomguy and the others kept on high alert...this was way too quiet for his liking.
"Don't fall silent. Even if it's on the battlefield, Be eloquent. Or do you intend to fight without giving me your name? Is that the way of the current Roman emperor? Now then Speak. Who is the one who would force me to take up arms, what is your name." The man asked with authority.
"Nero. I am the fifth emperor of the roman empire...I am Nero Claudius. I will take you out pretender to the throne!" Nero exclaimed valiantly.
The man smiled at the response as if that is what he wanted to hear from the current Roman emperor.
"You there, Guests from a far off land! Thank you for coming. Tell me your name as well." He asked politely.
"I am Mashu, these are my senpai's Gudao and Ritsuka...and he is-" Mashu introduced herself and the young masters but the man raised his hand to stop her.
"No need to tell me...I know his title. The Doomslayer. Those dark fellows warned me about you…" the man said and Doomguy felt a pulse of rage grow in his body. This man has already doomed himself by merely talking to the Demons…
"With a title such as that out of respect, I shall tell you my name. I am Gaius Julius Caesar. I predate your emperors Nero but I am one all the same.
"W-what?! How!? You are supposed to be…" She felt a small headache come out of nowhere as not only her uncle was resurrected but now the ruler of Rome that was the predecessor of the first Roma emperor.
"Poor thing. I see you are still confused about some things...Mashu was it? Mind filling her in." Caesar asked Mashu who stepped forward.
"Nero...That man, Boudica and a lot of the powerful people currently in Rome are servants. People who have died and become heroic spirits." Mashu explained and Nero just nodded as her headache got worse.
"Guys, Can we get down to Business?" Romani asked over comms and Mashu nodded.
Doomguy was getting agitated...They are here…Somewhere...Sensors are getting jammed according to Vega.
Not good.
"I want to ask you something. About the united empire and the Holy Grail." Mashu said trying to get some intel on the grail.
"Hmm yes...Master and Servant...I take it you are the proper ones then. So that makes us enemies. What a shame. You shall witness the power of my golden sword, Corcea Mors." Caesar then draws his sword.
"But a five vs one clearly seems unfair in my favour so I shall permit some backup on my behalf…" He snaps his fingers and Dark red portals open up around them.
"Defensive positions! Protect the masters at all costs!" Vega said as doomguy preps both his minigun and control over his rage. He can't lose it like last time, not until they are safe from harm.
He can't fail again…
"No...it can't be! Gillies was one thing but another servant working the Demon's?!" Romani slammed his console with his fist in frustration.
"Says the fools that stand with that usurper." A voice speaks from one of the portals and a very humanoid looking demon in green, gladiator-like, armour steps out of it. His skin pale and his eyes glowing a deep red within its sunken ocular sockets.
"That's….A marauder…" Mashu said, recognizing the creature from the Demon Bestiary. She felt a cold sweat roll down her neck as it stared at her after she spoke its name. Marauders are no ordinary threat...they are highly trained sentinel warriors corrupted by Khan Maykr to serve in an endless cycle with one goal...
Kill the Slayer.
Doomguy felt his rage begin to boil again...He needed to get them out of here. No, if he leaves them the demons will learn about the masters…
"Leave the Slayer and his underlings to us...You shall take that false emperor as you requested…'' The Fallen Sentinel warrior stated the terms of their contract.
"Good. I expect you to come out of this alive or it would be a shame for you to die to such beasts after getting this far." Caesar said raising his blade and Nero did the same.
"N-Nero! You can't take him on your own. Regularly humans can't take on servants-"
"Don't worry Mashu, Protect your master from these abominations." Nero interrupts Mashu and raises her blade at her foe.
"Good! Fight for your Rome! This shall be a fantastic battle." Both Roman rulers clash blades while more demons come pouring out of the portals. Ararchnotrons, Prowlers, hell knights, several imps and Gargoyles, a tyrant and a Marauder. A well-planned team, as if they knew about the Master and servant link...
"You got to get out of there! It's too dangerous!" Romani yelled worried at the rising threat.
"We can't, we are surrounded!" Gudao said looking at the rear where a group of imps were blocking their escape route. The Demons were getting closer, The grip on The Slayer's Chaingun shakes as Doomguy tries to keep focused against the Madness...Or was it that for the first time in millennia, he was scared for some else's life?
"What do we do?" Ritsuka said trying to keep her cool, as her legs were shaking. The sight of bloodthirsty demons surrounding them was terrifying.
"Is that fear in I see The Usurpers eyes? Hah! Think you can protect them?! Don't make me laugh you don't care about anything but destroying!" The fallen sentinel cackled as he ignites his crucible axe and unholsters his super shotgun.
"Vega, I think it's time to use the stealth unit," Da-Vinci said joining Romani in the Control room during the panic.
"Preparations complete. Master's, please stay within a seven-meter radius of the drone." The drone then projects an energy dome around the two masters. Within seconds they vanish from sight without a trace.
"What!?" The marauder said seething with anger.
"They are cloaked, Now kill those demons before they track them down," Da-Vinci said.
"Oh thank goodness, Da-Vinci, Thank you!" Mashu said feeling relieved and now more fired up than ever to take on the demons.
"Doomguy-san?" She looked over to the warrior and he nods at her. His aim steady's, mind his clear as it can be as a berzerker...He will be forever thankful to both Vega and Da-Vinci for helping them in their time of need.
Now, enough worrying, Time for some slaying!
"Get them, break the Slayer so he can watch those children die!" The demon yelled and the horde moved in. Doomguy opens up with two frags and an Ice bomb at the fodder and heavies. The imps and Gargoyles shatter into frozen gore bits while the hell knights become staggered.
Mashu quickie takes this opening and bashes the hellish beasts with his shields with bone-crushing force. She manages to kill three before defending herself from Arachnotron turret fire and jumping back to avoid grenades. Before she could take a break she takes a prowler shot to the back.
"Gah!" She grunts but bashes it with a spin attack sending it rolling across the ground and right under Doomguy's boot. It didn't even get a chance to scream before it was crushed. The soldier wasn't even paying attention as she was using a Hell-knight's head and spinal cord as a makeshift flail. It shatters against the marauder's shield as he takes it as an insult. The tyrant roars and launches a cluster of rockets from it's back and aims its arm cannon at Mashu.
"Mashu! Watch out!" Romani said and she manages to block the shot just barely. She blinks as she finds the two cyber-spider demons dead along with a Knight. Mashu then looks at her shield, realizing that her shield completely reflected the Tyrant's beam like a mirror!
"Doomguy! I got an idea!"
Emperor of Betrayal.
The sound of Clashing blades echoed along with the sound of demons roar and gunfire. Nero Claudius was holding her own against Ceasar in a daring battle for Rome.
"Now this is a battle! Our blades clashing is like music to my ears! You are really the blossom of Rome." The Saber servant said as she pushing Nero back, her gold colour boots skidded across the dirt.
"How could you say such a thing when teaming up with those fiends from the Hell?" Nero taking deep breaths as his stamina was draining.
"Oh, child it's nothing major really. All they want is the Doomslayer dead, Nothing more. So let's focus on our battle, shall we! Show me your dedication to Rome!" He raises his sword as it begins to glow with orange light.
"I came! I saw! Therefore, the next thing to do is declare my victory! Crocea Mors!" He closed the distance between them attack slashed at Nero with his Noble Phantasm.
"Gaaaaaah!" Nero cried as blocked the slashes, but wasn't expecting the stone fist that sent her flying into a boulder. She stumbles to the ground still breathing but her crimson dress was torn and as a small stream of blood flows down her face. Much to Caesar's surprise is that she was still alive.
"Strange, you should've died then. Perhaps you are more than a human? I admire your tenacity but this battle must end!" His sword glows once more. Nero stands herself straight and looks directly at Ceasar.
"As if I shall fall to the likes of you! I am the Rose of Rome! I will keep fighting for my people!" She said.
"...Crocea Mors!" Caesar dashing forward again but he was halted as Nero did the same. Now she was countering each strike with more precision than before! He prepares the finale blow of his stone fist to finish her off. Nero sees this and her sword combusts into flames.
"Hyiaaaaa!" She slashes upwards, severing Ceaser's entire arm.
"Ugh!" he stumbles back and drops his blade, now defeated and his spirit core fading slowly.
"How?! How did you beat my Yellow Death?" He asked.
"It was simple really, We both are rulers of Rome. So, I should be able to do the same technique as you did." Nero answered.
"Imperial Privilege, such a powerful skill. You really are a servant, aren't you." He said.
"Come on! Over here you big ugly!" Mashu taunted the Tyrant into firing its cannon at her only for it to end up killing its fellow Demons with its laser blasts. Her technique and Doomguy's awesome power was narrowing the numbers of the demonic horde. Even with the reinforcements of a few Barrons and more Ararchnotrons, they were getting nowhere.
Mashu sees the warrior and reflects a laser blast at him only to be completely blocked by his argent-powered shield.
"Fool." He said burning his hatred right into her soul as he summons a spectral hound to attack the Slayer.
Doomguy, pulling his senses together manages to kill the tyrant with his crucible blade before going after the marauder. It dashes and throws its axes at Doomguy who was struggling to keep his focus, as it was needed to find openings to take these bastards down.
"Yes…let that madness take over! You are making mistakes Slayer, it will eventually cost you-ACK!" The marauder was strike from the side with a shield bash from Mashu and jumps back to block his shogun blast.
"We can do this together!" Mashu yelled and Doomguy nods. With both of them attacking, more openings will appear. The Marauder summons it's a spectral hound and it bites the shielder in the leg. Mashu grunts over the pain of the hound's fangs as she kicks it off and crushes it with her shield. The marauder was crafty but dealing with two powerful opponents was too much as he was bisected by a red crucible blade. Doomguy was able to suppress the madness to allow him swift kill over an extended battle that his bloodlust craved.
"...You...think this is the end...now...this..is..just the beginning…of the end to this wretched era..." Right after he said those words, a pillar of red light shoots in the distance.
"That rotund fool never thought about the cost for our...services...souls. This whole world will now-" Doomguy then stomped his boot into its head before it could finish. He then looks directly at Ceasar with a look that shook the fading servant to his core.
"Looks like all the demons in the surrounding areas have been dealt with for now," Romani said with relief but was now concerned with the pillar of red light in the distance. With that all-clear from Romani, Vega de-cloaks, revealing the two masters unharmed. Gudao quickly ran over to Mashu, who was covered in Demon blood, to make sure she wasn't too hurt. Ritsuka does the same with Doomguy...however she stops mid-way sensing something...Off.
"I...I swear that he didn't ask a price!" Caesar said shaking in fear at not only the realization that some of his people were murdered behind his back.
"What did you do?!" Nero snapped, demanding an answer as she cannot even muster the thought of non-combatants being sacrificed. Even with her country divided, she still cared for the people caught in this battle.
"I...I...They backstabbed me! That's it! Would never-`` the sound of a spent shotgun shell bouncing off the blood-stained ground stops him, and the following sound of a shotgun pump causes him to panic.
"No! Wait! I am no Demon! I would never sell out the soul of my people. Isn't that right Nero?" He looks over to the current Roman Emperor but she could not even look at his pathetic figure right now….
She was in a vile mix of hurt, betrayed and angry...Doomguy understood her pain….
Making a deal with them is an unforgivable offence and betrayal to all that is good in the world.
"D-Doomguy? What are you doing?" Gudao asked the man but got no response…
"Master Ritsuka, Gudao. You have already experienced his deep hatred for the demons. Well, he doesn't hold those who made deals with the in any different regards." Vega stated.
"N-no wait! I am already fading! " Caesar said begging for mercy as Doomguy walks
"Should we...Stop him? He's already down so…?" Gudao asked as a creeping concern over what the man will do the Ceasar.
"I..I" Ritsuka looked at her command seal...Part of her wanted to curb her servant's rage but she didn't want to control him like some puppet. There had to be another-
BOOM
A single shot was fired from his shotgun. A 12 gauge round into the enemy servant's skull. Caesar disappears leaving Gaul now liberated by Rome and closer to restoring this singularity.
A victory that should've been cheered for...but there was only silence. Doomguy knew this situation would come eventually, better for it to happen sooner rather than later.
But it did hurt to see the kids sad. They are the kind of people to forgive rather than destroy. However, it had to be done as he could never let a traitor like that leave this world in peace. He went easy on Caesar for the sake of not completely disturbing them any further than the current mission has.
"Mission accomplished. The enemy servant has been destroyed. We should return to the camp for some rest." Vega said
"Yes, this battle is over. We should rest then figure out what the demons are up over the horizon." Nero said, pulling her emotions together and managing her cheerful smile once more. With that, the army returns to the camp to tend to the wounded and come up with the next plan of action for the Roman Empire. They return to the camp unharmed where Boudica welcomed them back but she could sense something was amiss with the children. Her motherly instincts kicked in and she spent the afternoon with them to make sure they were alright. She looks over at doomguy and he nods for her to take care of theThem.
The Shaped Isle
Night falls over the Camp as Doomguy watches over from the overlooking cliff.
"You do this every night eh?" A Boudica said announcing her presence so that she doesn't startle the man. Doomguy just nods in response, He didn't need to sleep so it made him the best for the night watch.
Boudica walks over and sits next to him with her legs hanging over the edge while he has kneeled with his Heavy Cannon at the ready.
"If you are worried about the Master's, don't be. I have talked to them and while they were uncomfortable with how you executed Caesar. Neither of them is upset with you." Boudica said.
For a warrior queen, Boudica had a gentle heart. It came in handy for them to come to terms with his brutality against those that make deals with the dark realm.
"Now, we have another problem." Boudica said looking at the glowing red pillar of light that was visible along the horizon.
Vega and Romani have been going all night with the scanners and figured that it must be an incomplete super gore nest. Similar to the one that caused the initial invasion of the Earth Vega was from but much smaller. So far it appears to be dormant due to the lack of a full-on demonic invasion.
"...You don't plan on taking the children into such a thing are you." Boudica asked and the Slayer shook his head.
"Good. That's a relief. Sorry for asking" She said while the Slayer continues to watch over the camp silently...Boudica sighed with slight annoyance due to him being the total opposite of Spartacus but still an enigma on what was going on in his head. She also thinks about how the Sentinels appear to respect him highly as their king yet he doesn't act like one at all. They mentioned that he was not interested in the politics of being a ruler and would fight on the frontlines along with them. Which was enough for them to respect even in death.
"I am going to turn in then. Nero is already planning an excursion to where that light is. Hopefully, that will put an end to the demons in this region." Boudica then got up and left. Doomguy thought he was going to be left alone but once more he felt a presence behind him.
"Whoa, Whoa! It's just me! Wretch!" The shadowy figure said, putting his hands up as Doomguy pointed his gun at him.
"Just wanted to give you the info on the nest over yonder. I was going to pop in earlier but the redhead showed up. Like to keep appearances of people that can kill me down to a minimum of one." The Demon said, putting his hands down and giving Doomguy some intel of the region. Like what Chaldea has detected, it was a premature super gore nest. But what they did not know is that a faction of the united empire has attempted to assault the place to clear it out. With limited success, they slowed down the spread of corruption.
"I guess not ALL of those United Empire guys are idiots. No matter, the nest is still in its most vulnerable stages so it would best to strike ASAP." The wretch then fades into darkness without another word.
"Are you REALLY sure about that guy? I get that he's scared shitless of you but still, he's a demon." Romani asked over comms. Doomguy shook his head and he was ready to kill the Wretch at the first sign of screwing him over.
The next day comes with a rush led by Nero to the Gore nest that threatens the entire region. The blasphemous hell growth was located on an island in the Mediterranean Sea which was being crossed by Chaldea and the Romans.
"Ugh…" Ritsuka said, holding back her lunch from launching into the sea. Nero herself was piloting the ship and let's just say her skills left much to be desired.
"We are almost there Senpai's...just hold a bit more," Mashu said while she was rubbing both of their backs. The sight of this caused some concern for Doomguy and Vega but the masters insisted that they let Nero Pilot the ship as it seemed to improve her mood.
"I will make a note to add anti-nausea medication to the next supply drop," Vega said as they reached the island. All seemed quiet minus the red beam of hell energy that loomed over the place. Everyone exited the ship, masters glad to be on solid land again while Nero was taking pride in her boating skills.
"Umu, that was some nice wind! It was the most aggressive voyage ever!" Nero boasted.
"...Thank Goodness my semicircular canals were enhanced...If I hadn't become a Demi-servant...Ugh..I'm not going to go there." Mashu whispered to Master's who was laying on the ground letting their stomachs calm down.
"Y-You seem to have gone through an ordeal. I could tell by your vitals. The soldiers couldn't leave the ship either. Oh, poor men! Since the emperor offered the take the wheel herself, I thought she had impeccable skills." Romani commented.
"But wait, maybe, just maybe! Those were impeccable skills-" Romani's then interrupted by the sound of a groaning redhead.
"Oh just shush it! My stomach is not in the mood!" Ritsuka pleaded, causing Romani to focus on the current mission as she and Gudao stand up finally.
"Right. Anyways, You landed safely on the island where that Gore nest is and the Rumored Goddess." Romani started getting a confused look from the two master's.
"It would appear that this very island is home to a Goddess according to rumours I have overheard while taking an inventory at the camp-SERVANT DETECTED," Vega stated, flying his drone off the ship in a panic.
"He's right! Hold your ground! We don't know if it's friend or foe!" Romani yelled and both masters got up and behind their respective servants.
"So this island is not only infested with demons, but the united empire is here as well?" Nero Draws her blade as Doomguy loads his super shotgun.
"No, This is a servant, but...something is off. It's different from normal. Vega, are you getting this?" Romani said as a figure stepped out of the woods in front of them.
"Yes, I am not a 'Normal' Servant. Good day Heroes, welcome to my humble Temporary home for this area, the Shaped Isle." A Young Girl, Dressed in white with purple hair and eyes, approaches them. Her presence radiated a divine aura that seems to originate from the halo of light that was behind her head.
"Oh my, I was wondering what kind of magnificent hero was here. But to my surprise, it seems there are Servants in your group. Unfortunately, I was waiting for human heroes." She said with a disappointed look on her face. Romani was adjusting the sensors on his end as the newcomer was giving off a weird reading. After another calibration, and picking up his jaw off the floor, the suspicions were confirmed, she was a Divine servant.
"Wait a second…" Romani paused as it showed another Divine signal among them. Comparing locational data of the team on the ground and the signal Data, he widened his eyes at the discovery.
'Just what man was Doomguy?' Romani thought.
"Romani?" Mashu called over comms.
"Oh. Sorry, zoned out for a moment. Amazing as it can be. You got a genuine divine servant in front of you" Romani said, saving questions about Doomguy for later.
"That's right. I am a goddess - My name is Stheno. One of the three Gorgon sisters Though, I rather dislike being called an ancient God. But it's fine. it is true that where I am a past god. You may call me whatever you wish. After all, time is irrelevant when it comes to my beauty." Stheno said in her soft voice while looking over the group. A discussion opened up between her and Romani talking about herself being a Divine spirit and how her authority as a god has been downsized due to the limitation of servants.
Doomguy wasn't one for waiting while there was a nest growing, so he nudged Ritsuka and pointed to a nearby cave. He wanted to check it out for anything dangerous. Caves like that are prime spots for nests to grow or a hiding spot for an enemy.
"Oh? Sure thing. Just...if there are Demons, don't go too far ok?" She said allowing him to go off on his own.
"Right, We can't waste much time. We are here to stop the demons from invading this land." Nero started seeing the Slayer already beginning to scout the area.
"Oh so you are to attempt what the others could not?" Stheno said, causing many brows to raise.
"What others?" Gudao asked.
"Another ship came by earlier. Just two people excited, I could sense they were servants so I didn't bother to introduce myself. They went straight for the source of that ugly light that is on my island." Stheno said, noticing the one man leave the group but didn't see where he went.
"Were who able to read their intentions, Lady Stheno?" Vega asked.
"Oh my, Another wonderful sounding voice. I guess some of you are interesting after all. To answer your question, it looked like they were going to destroy that foul nest. Whether they were friend or foe to you is for you to find out." Stheno said, pursuing her thoughts while not noticing the missing party member.
"If I can join the conversation. That goddess is not our enemy, correct?" Nero said, having enough of standing out of the conversation.
"Doesn't seem like it." Gudao answered while feeling slightly uneasy about Sthenos gaze upon him.
"Hmm, in that case, Isn't it simple? Ancient Goddess Stheno, come to Rome! I am Rome. The fifth emperor of the Roman Empire, Nero Claudius." Nero said ready to welcome another person to her lovely city.
"I shall accept you as a new god. Let us defeat the united Empire Together!" Nero stated causing the small goddess to feel flattered but she ended up refusing. She was not built for combat, even as a servant Stheno has only the basics.
"...I don't possess the power to fight valiantly like my younger sister," Stheno said
"What?" Romani said confused
"I said I don't have the power….You'll get stabbed in the back if you don't stop being insensitive." The goddess said with a touch of malice. After that, she still wanted to help out the group and offered a treasure that was in a nearby cave that she wanted. In return, they will receive her blessing. Chaldea thought it could be the holy grail they were looking for so everyone was ready to go.
"I am afraid to say that the cave contains no treasure," Vega said.
"WHAT?" Everyone then looked at the now speechless goddess.
"How would you know? You never even entered yet-" Stheno was then interrupted with the sound of footsteps behind her. She turned around and flinched at the sight of Doomguy covered in monster blood.
"W-who is this?" Stheno asked, trying to keep her composure.
"Praetor Doomslayer. The bane of the Demons." Nero answered.
"Wait, did Doomguy-san go off somewhere," Mashu asked.
"Yeah, he wanted to check out that cave...Where Stheno mentioned...There was a treasure." Ritsuka then put two and two together. Doomguy being covered in Monster blood meant there were enemies in that cave.
"There were no demons or treasure in that cave, just a Chimera. Which he neutralized with little effort." Vega then flew closer to the goddess while Doomguy walked past her and into the water to wash off the blood.
"Lady Stheno, I would refrain from any form of jokes that could delay our objective. Unlike the master's, he is not so forgiving. Do you understand?"
Vega said and Stheno just nods rapidly, totally unlike her calm demeanour of before.
"Well then, we should make our attack on the nest and then return to our war with the United Empire". Nero said finally to get back on track which was something Doomguy could heavily agree upon.
"I will point you in the right direction then, I have a few acquaintances keeping those pesky demons at bay." Stheno said, suddenly sounding very cooperative after meeting Doomguy. She leads the group into the woods while Mashu, Ritsuka and Gudao just look at each other confused.
"I know Doomguy can be a little scary sometimes, but did you see how Stheno changed once she met him?" Ristuka whispered.
"Totally," Gudao answered as he felt the weird aura that came from Stheno disappear.
"She's not a demon, but she sure did get startled by him.." Mashu said, looking at the divine servant.
Stheno kept her distance from Doomguy as she led them to where her allies and the start of the nest was. Unknown to everyone, she was terrified of the man as the mere sight of him covered in blood reminded her of a dark time.
The time when the youngest of the three Gorgon sisters lashed out, becoming a monster that would consume her older sisters.

(SPOILER WARNING JUST IN CASE CAUSE I AM PARANOID)
So, a LOT just came out for DOOM: Eternal. The Ancient Gods Part 2 (TAG 2) was released and damn...all that lore (I played it of course). So for this story, things are going to remain the same as it takes place in between Eternal and TAG up until Epic of Remnants/Lostbelts. Would that take too long for the earth doomguy just saved? Dimensional time BS is my excuse and he'll return just in time for TAG.
Now for VEGA. If you haven't already guessed, VEGA is a Fragment left behind by the Father once he was inserted into Urdak systems. Vega was a personality created to hide from the Dark Lord after all. So now he's similar to BB's Alter-egos or Tamamo and her Tails. Now with the Twist at the end of TAG 2, I am going to brainstorm some new idea's for our Digital AI fragment boi in the Nasu-verse...
As for what happened to Doomguy...I am working on some stuff.
