Chapter 18
Meet The Minotaur
"...Yes. They are friends. Trust me, They are cool." The Wretch said, calming down the beast of a man.
"Wretch? Is that you?" Mashu asked.
"Yep. Was wondering when you guys were gonna show up. Got stuck in this labyrinth too eh?" he said.
"Not really, we have both Doomguy and VEGA mapping out the place." Ritsuka said.
"Awesome. Maybe we can-"
"...Hold up! What the hell are you doing?" A familiar-looking, purple-haired, young woman interrupted and stood in front of the Wretch.
"Trying to stop a pointless fight. Duh. You don't want Asterios to get severely wounded or Killed do you? Besides, the labyrinth will collapse on top of us if he'd died anyways" He answered and everyone tensed up at mentioning their possible demise.
"I-I…Of course not! But I can't trust…" The woman's words were interrupted with the ex-demon raising his boney hand.
"They are NOT with whoever is chasing you. Use your damn eyes, two of them are human masters." He said and she looked over to Gudao and Ritsuka who just waved at her.
"Are you two really masters?" She asked and both novice magi showed their genuine command seals.
"...I guess you are legitimate then and if what your…A friend told me you are not the ones that chased me here. I guess then I should join you then to get out of this mess." She said,
"Someone's after this brat?" Drake said bluntly.
"Huh! I don't think that's a way to talk to a grown woman!" The two began to bicker at each other while the wretch just facepalms.
"Can we just get introductions over with! Some of us have work to do!" He said with annoyance.
"...Fine. I am the Goddess, Euryale. This big minotaur here is Asterios. I am hiding here because a rogue servant was chasing me around this damned sea." The small servant announced.
"Euryale, Sister to Stheno and Medusa. The three divine entities that existed peacefully on an island for a time during the Era of the Greeks." VEGA summarized from Chaldea's database.
"That's why she looked so familiar! We ran into Stheno back in Rome." Ritsuka stated as she searched her pockets for a certain item
"Oh, so you ran into the other "me". Well that's reassuring then."
"Ah here it is! She told me to give this to you-" Ritsuka was interrupted by Doomguy stopping her. He didn't exactly trust these newcomers yet so he gestured for the scroll to take it to Euryale. Ritsuka nods as she hands the scroll to Doomguy and he walks over to hand it over.
The goddess looked at the man as he approached her. She was surprised to sense that he was a servant due to his armor and weapons of foreign origin. He hands her the scroll and she takes it as Asterios stares at the man curiously. Euryale quickly opens up the scroll and reads it for a few seconds. Her eyes darted between the written message and Ritsuka's servant oddly before shaking her head.
"Okay, let me explain my situation. Shortly after I was summoned to this place I was being chased around by a pervert of a servant. Eventually I found this Island and ended here in this labyrinth where I met Asterios and Wretch." She said and the thought of a pervert chasing her around disturbed the group. Doomguy himself felt his eye twitch as the last thing he wanted was a pervert running around and causing trouble.
"It was a quick scare but it turns out our Mintour buddy here is just a big softy." The Wretch added.
"Am…Not" Asterios said while looking away.
"Regardless, I guess the best choice right now is to join you guys then. Sitting in this place is no longer a safe option if you were able to find me." Euryale suggested
"While we would welcome your assistance. We are currently unable to leave the island due to the boundary field that encompasses the landmass." VEGA said.
"Oh, That would be Asterio's doing. It wasn't to trap you guys in. it was to prevent the enemies from outside entering." Euryale said, revealing the source of the problem.
"I see. But, unless you remove this field, we'll be stuck in here…" Mashu said
"...I'll guess I'll have him remove it then…" Euryale said reluctantly.
"Well that didn't take a lot of convincing." Drake added.
"...It's a simple numbers game. Either Asterios dies, or we remove the field. In that case, I'd rather remove the field…it's much better than being alone." Euryale expressed her wish to not have her companion die. Drake seemed very pleased with that option and instantly welcomed them both aboard with a sudden shift in her mood. It surprised Euryale but Drake mentioned that it was all part of exploring the unknown and meeting people along the way.
"You can bring your pal along as well, you can never have too much muscle in a fight! I'd be the laughingstock of pirates if I let that talent slip by! Hey Slayer, I think he can handle those little shitbags." Drake asked. Doomguy understood that she was referring to the Hellspawn. He looked at the now confirmed minotaur of legends, A berserker class servant like him. The guy had a monstrous look to him, however, if you look him in the eye's you can sense an odd form of innocence… The servant observed Asterios who was staring back at him waiting for a response with a curious head tilt.
Doomguy nods. It was either have them join or risk them becoming possessed like that Bloodaxe fellow. So far the only servant that had issues following commands was himself which proved the Masters' abilities enough on that merit.
"Alright! Time for another Adventure! " The Wretch said.
"Adventure…Sounds…Fun. Will…fight…to..Protect…Euryale…and…master." Asterios said with a very friendly smile.
"Hah! This just keeps getting better and better! Bloodwater, make sure they get a nice place to rest on the Golden Hind. Once they disable the Boundaryfield we are moving out!"
"Aye, Captain!"
"Fouuu!" Fou howled cheerfully to the peaceful resolution.
Now with new allies, everyone retreats to the Golden Hind after Asterios disabled the Boundaryfield preventing the ship from leaving. Allowing them to leave the Island to continue their search for the Holy Grail and signs of Hellspawn. As the Golden hind sails the high seas, Doomguy was getting the scoop from The Wretch about the current Hell Invasion. Both were standing at the bow of the ship as the ocean winds wailed by.
"...So your business in Orleans and Rome worked. Any pathways ripped open by them were sealed off. This world is really lucky that it has forces constantly pushing back against Hell." The Wretch then ponders.
"Hmmm…I wonder if treats all threats like that. Regardless, I came here tracking something big. Now sure what exactly but Worst case scenario, A corrupted titan, but we should've seen one of those by now due to them…Well being GIANTS." He continued. Doomguy worries about the thought of fighting off a titan with Ritsuka around. Hopefully, the anti-demon abilities he gains from this world will give him the extra edge he needs.
"I got something in the works to help you with those things, it's still charging at my workshop." The Ex-Demon mentioned which caused Doomguy to raise an eyebrow with interest. Meanwhile, Euryale was observing The Slayer from a distance as she was warned by her sister, Stheno.
"Dear Sister,
I hope this message reaches you before anything involving 'That Man' comes to face. I must warn you to refrain from acting in any form, against him or his allies. It may seem strange but the moment I laid eyes on him, I felt a sense of dread that was comparable to that Day. You know what I am talking about…Hopefully, you don't find yourself in a situation against Chaldea and have made a peaceful contract. I know it's hard to go against our 'fun' nature but it would be for the best to keep things amicably around him.
I hope to see you soon and I guess the littlest as well.
PS, Do you sense his divinity as well? "
Euryale blinked at the thought of Stheno being so worried about her that she would send her a message to warn her about him. If Stheno compared the man to the event that caused her death then it had to be serious as they never jested about that dark day.
"Is there a problem, My lady?" Silva asked, noticing her distress.
"I don't recall giving you permission to ask me such-Nevermind." Euryale stops herself remembering that Silva was a part of Doomguy's crew of Sentinels.
"I do apologize if I have offended you." She said as she was about to leave.
"No, no wait. You did nothing wrong. I am not used to being around a servant like him" She said pointing towards Doomguy.
"It's understandable. My lord's personality is hard to read sometimes. There is no need to be worried though, he is respectful to proven allies. You have already made a contract with his master so there should be no issue." Silva assured her.
"Is he a king?" She asked.
"Yes, our last king. He proved himself many times against the hordes of Hell." Euryale raises an eyebrow as he didn't seem to be kingly at all to her. However she did sense divinity within him, however, it felt foreign…as if it's not of this world.
"I see…That will be all." Euryale then went to go see what the Asterios were up to. Silva herself was hesitant talking to the goddess due to her history with the Maykrs, yet she continued her duty.
"Oi, Bloodwater! Need you here for a moment" Drake yelled and the Yellowed-eyed servant ran to the helm. If there was one thing she seemed to enjoy was being out on the sea again.
Euryale found Asterio hanging out with Ristuka, Gudao and Mashu as they told stories of their current adventure.
"Demon's…I...Know of…them…These ones…Different." Asterios asked for clarification.
"Yes, These Demons are not from any of our world's stories. Doomguy-san has been fighting them for millennia and yet only started to invade our world now." Mashu said as Asterio's turns around to look at Doomguy ''talking'' to The Wretch.
"Alone?" The Berserker asked.
"There was a point where he had help but mostly he was alone." Ritsuka answered with a sombre look on her face. Asterio grew a face of pondering as he thought about the man being alone for such a long time. He felt some form of kinship from that as he spent most of his life alone. It was only after meeting Euryale that he finally wasn't alone anymore.
"Oh Hey, Euryale." Gudao notices the petite servant approaching them. Asterios attention immediately went to her without any delay.
"Hey. What are you guys talking about?" She asked.
"Oh, Asterio was just asking about Doomguy," Gudao answered and
Euryale looked at her companion with a questioning look but shrugged it off. She only gestured to be put on his shoulder and Asterios complied with a smile.
"You may continue." She answered as she leaned back to watch the water and they continued to tell stories to Asterios. At some point, Euryale started to hum a pleasant tune that caught the minotaurs ears.
"Song?" Asterios blurted out.
"Oh you heard that?" Euryale asked.
"Yes." He answered.
"Well, Fine. I will let you all listen as a special treat." Euryale then let out a song from her lips and it brought delight and calmness to the crew. Even Doomguy heard it and found himself tapping his foot. He ponders for a brief moment as he recalls a past hobby of his. He casually played the Guitar for a while during his UAC military years during downtime. It was the reason he collected and crafted his own three guitars back in the room at the Fortress of Doom. After the song was done he decided to go check in on the kids and see what they were up to.
"Morrupf…Kyuu!" Fou barked as the man approached.
"Hey Doomguy!" Ritsuka greeted and he nods. It looks like the newcomers are getting along with them so that was a relief. It surprises how well they get along with servants, even ones that were former enemies. It does make him worry about abusing that kindness and betraying them. Contract or not, there are rule breakers that only wish to cause chaos.
"...Why are people chasing after you?"Mashu asked Euryale.
Doomguy blinks as his thoughts distracted him for a moment, he refocuses on the conversation.
"You sure know how to open up old wounds." She responded.
"...I'm sorry. But I thought it was something I should still ask." Mashu apologized.
"...hmm since you don't mean ill, I'll forgive you." Euryale then explains how she is used to being idolized and being the target of affection to many men. "I'm pretty and cute'' was her way of putting it. However, the man she describes that was chasing was someone she did not want to ever get near her.
"But this time, the most atrocious pervert is after me. A strange pirate, just like Drake." Euryale said with disgust and Doomguy felt his eye twitching…
"What the…?" Gudao said looking grossed out.
"A Pirate?" Mashu asked.
"Not just an ordinary pirate. A 'pirate servant' is after me. I don't know his true name. But, he's certainly the most disgusting guy in the world…even Scylla would feel pretty in front of him." Euryale said and Ritsuka got a chill down her spine.
"Gross…" She said
A servant that's a pervert was chasing a girl that was shorter than Ritsuka and Mashu…A situation that only had one solution…The Slayer Cracked his knuckles with vengeful anticipation…A castration via microwave beam, buckshot and/or frags might be in order.
Man, how he wished that he had Valen's hammer right about now…
Ritsuka looks at her servant and she can see the gears of violence turning in his head, proving how she was getting better at reading him. Normally she would be against it but…She was a girl…And there is a pervert with power on the loose. She might end up letting Doomguy go all out on this guy and just cover Gudao's eyes in the meantime.
She felt Doomguy plop his hand on her head, checking if she was okay. She looks up at him, blinks and nods.
A silent agreement has been made…
The Dread of Black Beard
"...Not strong, not scary, but disgusting…What kind of Pirate is he?" Mashu said with Gudao being slightly worried about Mashu if they faced that creep. Gudao then shook his head as he would never let any pervert mess with Mashu and this was just another rogue servant out of control.
"Hostile ship detected!" VEGA alerts everyone and Drake comes rushing with a telescope.
"Pirates?" Drake asks as she gazes through the telescope.
"Yes, however this is not a wayward band of pirates." VEGA said as he scanned the ship and cross-referenced it with his database.
"Aye, I recognize that flag. Bloodwater! Prepare the crew, this is going to be a real fight for once."
"Aye, Captain!" Silva then went to work as Chaldea reconnected with the mission team.
"Guys! Can you hear me?" Romani shouted as comms were finally restored.
"Yeah, We can hear you! We are currently about to run into a big Pirate ship." Gudao said and brought him up to speed. There was no way to avoid contact with the enemy vessels.
"I have already identified the enemy vessel: Queen Anne's revenge." VEGA said
"Oh man, That means you guys are facing Edward Teach. Aka, Blackbeard, the most infamous pirate in history." Romani said as the two ships started circling each other preparing for combat. The moment Blackbeard himself was visible, Drake and he started shouting at each other. Silva mentions that they were chased around before by this very ship but the Golden Hind was faster.
" . ?!" Drake shouted at the dark-haired, hook-bearing, bearded man.
"I- just- said! I didn't ask for old hags! What with them useless huge knockers? Is that a joke? Guess scars are okay? Blade scars are great, they turn me on. But, the age, that's a slight problem!" Black bread babbled his very disgusted opinion of the Captain of the Golden Hind before laying eyes on Silva Bloodwater.
"Oooh! Like her! She's definitely in my strike zone! A woman in uniform! Sign me up! Huhuhuhu!"
Both women just froze at his disgusting comments.
"Boss, Boss?" One of the crewmates called out to her.
"It's hopeless. She's all frozen up. I was the same during my first encounter, too…I'm surprised I survived it" Euryale said while getting shivers herself. Not noticing the fact that Doomguy and Asterios were up to something…
"Oh my! Even more women! A redhead even! What's your name-!" Teach's words were halted by a bullet nearly hitting him…Well, it took most of his right ear.
"OH FUCKING HELL! WHO DID THAT?!" he squealed in pain as his eyes darted around looking for the smoking gun. His eyes landed on the big burly man named Asterios who was waving at him. Blackbeard then raised an eyebrow as his enemy was then gesturing upwards…
…His vision was darkened as the sun was blocked out by an armoured man diving right at him. He quickly dodged out of the way, avoiding getting stomped by a pair of dark green boots. Doomguy lands perfectly on the enemy ship thanks to Asterios tossing him over with the force of one of many jump-pads. His landing caused the whole vessel to shake and nearly capsize the ship.
"W-who the heck is this guy! Bah! Who cares? You boarded an enemy vessel and now you're surrounded! Not smart in the head are-" His words stopped when he took in the sight of the man now standing straight up, showing his true height. The towering armoured man stared at him with a palpable sense of anger and hatred.
'"Y-you two! Do something!" He looked to his two servants, female servants he contracted with, both of them seemed to be in a trance while staring at the stowaway. Blackbeard blinked in astonishment, as they scared of the man?
He blinks again as notices they are staring at the man in front of him or, to be exact, his exposed biceps.
"You two aren't SIMPING for that man are you?! Fine! You scallywags! Attack!" He gestures to his crew, yet none of them were around for some reason.
"You cowards! Fine! I'll do it myself!" Blackbeard extends his hook gauntlet while pulling out a bomb from his black coat. The pirate's servant then dashed at him to punch him in his oversized armoured face. Doomguy didn't flinch as caught the fist without effect and threw him into one of the masts of the ship.
"Gah! You pack a punch! Well try these ones for size!" Blackbeard tossed two bombs at the guy, ignoring the risk of setting his ship ablaze. Doomguy cuts one in half and catches the other one in his hand. He crushes it as it explodes in his hands without flinching at all.
"You think you are so tough huh! Well I got more tricks up my-OOF!" Doomguy cut him off with a lightning-fast kick to the crotch that caused all males within visual range to cringe. The enemy topples over to the ground almost looking defeated but he isn't done. He grabbed the pervert's leg and started slamming him into the deck boards like a ragdoll.
"GAH! OUCH! AAAAH!" Blackbeard screamed as he was swung around like a rag in the wind, powerless to stop this series of unfortunate events being dealt with him. Doomguy decides to toss the trash out and throws him kilometres out into the open seas. As Blackbeard flies, Doomguy notices a cannonball rolling by his feet. He decides to send the pervert off with a bang and picks up the ball. Doomguy throws the munition with quadruple the force of any cannon. It hits Blackbeard and detonates on impact with a small fireball in the distance.
"GAAAAAAAH!" A scream echoed as the battle was finished. Doomguy wipes the gunpowder off his gauntlets, then he notices the two servants staring at him the entire time and doesn't join in the fight. Two blonde women, one was yellow-blonde wearing red pirate attire while wielding a rifle. The other was more pure-white hair rather than blonde. She was shorter and was wearing an all-black jacket while wielding a cutlass.
"Anne. Should've we…Done something?" The shorter one asked the taller one.
"What? And miss out on the show? Clearly The Captain is still alive anyways if we haven't faded away yet." The tall one answered.
"So we STILL have to work with that…thing." The one in the black jacket sighed and cringed. The taller one's eyes then returned to the man and seemed to get an idea.
"Hey! Mister Big Fabulous Biceps!" She called out. Doomguy looked left and right before pointing to himself.
"Yes, you silly! You and your crew are the good guys right?" She asked and Doomguy nodded, surprised that two females were ever in close vicinity of what he saw as a piece of trash.
"Well, I am going to be honest with you. We hated working with Blackbeard ever since he contracted us. I believe you can tell why already, so can we just surrender to you before the crew returns wondering where The Captain went?" She asked with a smile. Doomguy tilts his head in confusion, he never thought of this outcome before jumping into action.
"Yeah! We are still contracted to that loser, but would rather sit in a brig over being under his command." The shorter one said. Doomguy crossed his arms, causing his exposed biceps to flex much to the duo's delight.
"Hey! How about we tell you our True Names and Noble Phantasm? Then you have a full info advantage against us!" The tall blonde suggested. Doomguy recalls the points of learning a servant's true name to deduct their attacks and weaknesses. To think that a servant would willingly surrender to get away from such a pervert.
"The choice is up to you Slayer, However, I would suggest you take into consideration what Ritsuka would prefer," VEGA said over his helmet comms. Knowing fully what the redhead would want, he decides to be merciful. He looks up at them and nods to accept their offer.
"Yes! You have our word! Let's get back your crew before the others get back on deck." They both agreed to surrender and all swam back to the Golden hind where some awed spectators were still recovering from what spectacle just happened.
"Excuse my use of crude language as Acting Director of Chaldea…But what the actual Fuck just happened?!" Romani was the first to snap out of it.
"He…Kicked Blackbeard in the crotch and tossed him out to sea like a ragdoll…" Mashu said.
"HAHA! That was amazing! 'Bastard got what he deserved and then some! Doomslayer, you never cease to amaze me!" Drake congratulated the man before noticing the duo he brought on board.
"So these are the scallywags that surrendered?" Drake said as VEGA relayed the entire to them as it played out.
"Yep! We are not going to cause any trouble, If our dumb boss uses a command seal on us then feel free to eliminate us. No harsh feelings at all. We should however get moving. The ship is still standing so Blackbeard must be alive somehow." Both of them started without any hesitation.
"Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Let's get moving." Ritsuka said and Drake quickly took to the helm to set course for another island. Meanwhile, Ritsuka and the other were congratulating Doomguy for his swift actions.
"Doomguy-san, Thank you for taking swift action. I feel confident that I would've been able to handle him with you but…Let's just say that's a fight I don't mind standing on the sidelines." Mashu said.
"Hey, You are always helping out by being right next to me Mashu." Gudao said to his servant, which caused her to smile.
"My lord, I must say my thanks. I won't lie that I didn't have my fair share of perverse people, but that man was on a whole other level." She said with a cringe in her voice as Asterios and Euryale approached them.
"Hey! Don't forget that Asterios helped." Euryale said, pointing to her companion.
"I..Did…Well?" Asterios asked Doomguy. The Slayer gave him an instant thumbs-up of approval, causing the big guy to grin happily. Now knowing he played a part in beating up the man that was chasing Euryale. With that, they send their prisoners to the brig as they set course to a new island. In the meantime, Chaldea was getting info from their very cooperative captives.
Lingering Anger...
"I am Anne Bonny and she's Mary Read. We are a Rider Class Servant." Anne said, revealing their true names.
"Accessing Database…Anne Bonny and Mary Read were an infamous duo during the age of exploration. Serving under the Pirate: John Rackham. Anne was known for her marksmanship while Mary was skilled with her cutlass." VEGA summarised for the group.
"Bingo, Talk about an all-knowing eyeball." Anne said while VEGA gives her a deadpanned look.
"So both of you got summoned to Blackbeard?" Ritsuka asked as Doomguy was leaning against the wall observing the whole conservation.
"Well, Yes and no. We are a rare case of a Duo servant." Mary said
"Duo Servant?" Gudao said, looking to Mashu for some clarification who only shrugged.
"Ah, I see. Their legend is so based on their partnership that as heroic spirits they need to be summoned together or you can't get either of them." Romani cleared up.
"Yep. We don't get a stat penalty so we have the strength of two servants. However, if one of us dies…" Mary looks to her partner.
"The other one perishes as well…Oh and We can't trigger our Noble Phantasm without being together." Anne said honestly. Now they have revealed all of their weaknesses to Chaldea, keeping their end of the bargain.
"Man, being under Blackbeard's command must've really sucked." Ritsuka said.
"Yes, the constant comments and cringe dialect was really off putting. At least here we can finally have some peace and quiet. If you guys beat him, we are totally in for a new contract with one of the masters." Anne said with a wink.
"I-I am not used to this sudden shift in loyalties. I find it very strange to say the least but I am willing to overlook that after seeing what their leader was like." Mashu added while scratching her head.
"What can we say? We are pirates! Crazy stuff happens while out hunting for treasure." Mary said and the conversation ends as the masters decide to turn in for the night. Doomguy was going to watch over the two POW's for the first few hours just to be safe and sate his paranoia. He sits down at a nearby table and sets out his Super Shotgun for some cleaning. Da-Vinci made him a custom cleaning kit after seeing what he had to deal with on a mission.
Within seconds his custom sawed-off was disassembled and he got to work cleaning each part as time went by. An hour goes by as he is already halfway into reassembling the shotgun while not acknowledging two women ogling him. At least they were focused on him rather than the masters, unlike Blackbeard. He finishes putting the weapon back together and was about to put the kit away, Silva entered the brig with her rifle in her hands.
"Oh! My lord I was wondering if…" She sheepishly hands over her rifle.
"If you could clean my weapon as well…I understand if you don't have the time-" Doomguy takes the gun from her hand and quickly gets to work without question. "-oh! Thank you, My Lord." Silva then grabbed a chair and sat down across from her to observe his work. Meanwhile, the two servants sitting in the cell looked at each with raised brows at Silva calling Doomguy "My Lord".
"So…You guys know each other?" Anne asked. Sliva remained silent for a moment until gives her a nod, granting permission for the most basic information.
"I am merely a subject in service of his." The dark-haired woman said.
"Ooooo! So he's good looking and royalty? So cool!" Anne said while Mary nodded in agreement. Silva raises her eyebrows at her antics as Doomguy worked on her firearm with ease.
"What about you? Are you his subject or something? You clearly are any military person we have faced." Mary asked. Silva was about to ignore that question but felt the gaze of the slayer upon her. As if he wanted to hear her story even though he was about to execute her.
"Are…you sure, My lord?" She asked and Doomguy nodded.
"Very well…" The Sentinel sailor took a deep breath as she recalled her history.
"Just for clarity, I am from a different world. Same as my king here. Years ago I was a Captain serving in the Sentinel Navy force, Sea Strikers as our people called us. I lead my crew through many battles against threats to our great cities, let it be Pirate…or Titan." Doomguy recalled the stories, Argent D'nur was home to titans of its own and the Sentinel people fought them for ages. That was the original purpose of the Atlans, the Giant mechs that became a staple in a Sentinel army. When he was spat into that world after hell had enough of him, the Titan numbers were nearly pushed to extinction. He learned that most of the numbers remain hidden in the oceans and emerge from the depths to attack coastal settlements.
"...My Crew focused on Titan hunting to keep the fishing settlements at bay. I am not one to boast but we were good at it. Our ship was named The Coast's Spear as we were the first to respond to Titan attacks. We held the line until our own Titans made of metal were deployed to finish them off." The Slayer pauses as he remembers that legend during his time in the Arena. Talks about ships pushing back those monsters and protecting the smaller settlements. She was an up-and-coming hero to the people, so they begged the question. Why did she side against him during the civil war?
"Fighting the horrors of the deep. Now that is something you don't hear everyday! We know you are clearly not telling any tale as we are Pirates ourselves so we know a thing or two about telling false stories." Anne said with respect even though Silva was military.
Mary however notices the shadow of grim upon Silva's face and she decides to ask a question.
"What happened to your crew?" Mary asked.
"Huh?" Silva was surprised by the question.
"Something happened. You should be boastful after telling a story like that. A face like that however proves that something bad happened and it cost the lives of your crew." Mary stated and Silva started to look uncomfortable. She looked to her king for guidance…The Slayer knew she was hiding something and it had to involve the civil war. The bloody battle between the Sentinels that supported King Novik and those that sided with the Maykr's. Lots of lives were lost to lies during those dark days before the Sacred Elemental Wraiths fell. Silva's jacket matches the colours of the faction loyal to the corrupt Makyr's thus causing the initial distrust of her.
"...There was a civil war…and I was on the wrong side…That choice cost me my crew and my ship. I went down with the ship like any captain should." Silva ended her story with pain in her eyes and the room turning silent. Doomguy stood up from his seat and walked over to her sorry self.
The only sound remaining was Doomguy handing her the Rifle back before exiting the room, leaving Silva with her thoughts and watching over the prisoners. One would call this harsh, however, She wasn't offended at all. She was a traitor and she'll have to carry the weight of her failures until the day she dies.
"I promise…I won't let him down…I won't let my crew down again…"
The Slayer walks back to the upper decks of the ship to clear his mind. He was getting pissed at Bloodwater, If she cared about her crew then she should've never joined the Maykr loyalists. He doesn't understand why Novik would send a traitor like her to assist him to prevent another world from falling into hell's jaws. To him, those loyalists were no different than that bitch Oliva that caused that whole hell invasion on mars!
Part of him still agreed that he should've shot her when they first met…However, thoughts of Ritsuka, Gudao and Mashu seeing that…Their pure hearts wouldn't be able to take it…
For now, he'll have to accept her assistance. The Doomslayer didn't agree with everything that Novik said, but he knew the man wasn't a fool. He could trust him enough not to try and send someone to stab him in the back.
Trust is a boon that can be so easily corrupted whenever Hell was looming over a Doomed world…
(This Chapter was Beta'd by Darklord331)
AN: Back at it again with Doomguy having trust issues...Well, can you really blame the guy? At least we got Ritsuka to remind him that not every situation requires a 12 gauge lobotomy. Anyways, Blackbeard got what was coming to him and I figured I spare the pirate duo. Being around that guy was punishment enough. The power of Doomguys "Guns" Eh? If you thought that was the end of Blackbeard, you are wrong. The guy has a Guts skill for a reason but now it's time to meet up with a moon goddess and her husband before dealing with him again.
Now, of to work on the next one.
Have A Nice Day!
