Chapter 25: Bewitched By A Vampire?

Allen finishes informing Tweek everything he was required to know about Bloodolgy just seconds before the bell rings. Tweek had started paying attention once he had to start writing things down.

While his classmates stand up from their seats and head to and out the door whilst chatting to one another, Tweek remains seated, clearly confused as to where everyone is going. Class doesn't seem to be over since no one brought their stuff along so-

"Finally," he hears Allen sigh out in relief. He gets up while stretching his arms, Tweek wincing at his bones popping loudly. "All that talking made me hungry."

Then it dawns on Tweek. They're going to the cafeteria for lunch. He face-palms, then rises from his chair and starts walking out of the classroom before Allen can question him for suddenly smacking his forehead. Once all of his students are out, Mr. Edgewood closes the door. The hallway is surprisingly crowded with vampires (and two humans) heading to the same destination. Tweek wonders if everyone in the building is going to eat lunch, he gets that the cafeteria is big, but he doubts it's big enough to contain every single student, teacher, and the rest of the administrators inside it.

"Hey Allen, is everyone going to lunch?" Tweek decides to ask.

"No, that's only when it's dinnertime. We're just the last ones going to lunch."

"No wonder it's so crowded," Tweek grumbles.

"Yeah, so expect the lines to be long," Brendon says. Allen groans at the reminder. Tweek jolts, he hadn't noticed Brendon walking alongside him and Allen.

While the two begin to chat with each other, Tweek can't understand how they're so...okay with being practically crushed. Allen's shoulder is literally brushing against the wall while a lucky? student almost looks like he's glued to Brendon. Perhaps it's because they're used to this, which is strange. Incredibly strange. If every lunchtime Tweek is reduced to being sandwiched in between two guys, then he thinks he would be better off not going to lunch from tomorrow onwards. It's not worth going if it means being crushed to death. Actually, why can't they just teleport to the cafeteria?

Just when he's about to ask this to Allen, Tweek's senses suddenly go on high alert. However, he's not quick enough to react. He feels a foot step on the back of one of his shoes. He falls forward, but an arm swiftly prevents him from colliding with the floor.

"Tch, damn it," someone swears under his breath, his two buddies snickering at his fail.

"Whoa, what happened?" Allen inquires.

"He just lost his footing," Brendon answers as he straightens Tweek up.

"T-thanks," Tweek says, embarrassed not only because he would've caused the vampires in front of him to topple over like domino pieces had Brendon not saved him, but also because he heard suppressed laughter behind him. Of course they would find tripping someone funny, and seeing as how none of them are willing to apologize means it was done deliberately. How childish. He notices Brendon grabbing and holding his hand, his palm is cold but soft.

"So you don't trip again," the taller blonde says before Tweek can question him, flashing him a smile. Tweek merely nods his head in understanding, although he can't be blamed since there's barely any moving space. Good thing he's not claustrophobic.

Brendon knows that Tweek didn't stumble over his own two feet, even though he does seem like the clumsy type. He had actually witnessed the immature tactic in action, and that pissed him off. He hates when some fools dare to pick on one of his friends, especially right in front of him. He looks behind him with a disapproving glare, getting the expected reaction from three teenagers, confirming they were the ones who tried to humiliate Tweek. His narrowed eye glows for a brief moment, then he looks away.

Tweek, Brendon, and Allen eventually reach the cafeteria much to Tweek's relief, and he's taken aback in that instant. Thankfully, he's still holding Brendon's hand otherwise he'd stop in his tracks. He doesn't fully remember the colors of the decorations from this morning mainly because he didn't care, but he knows for sure one of them wasn't green. The two additional colors are white and black.

"What's got you looking so shocked?" Brendon asks as they stand in a line at a buffet counter. Several vampires are in front of them.

Tweek looks around a little bit longer before asking, "Were these the same colors as this morning's?"

"Nope, was pink, white, and black," Allen replies. Tweek blinks his eyes in confusion, so only one color was swapped out. "Ms. Biggle likes to have the colors changed in here every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well, except for on the weekends."

"Like is an understatement," Brendon says with a humorous huff.

"But why?" Tweek asks.

Allen shrugs. "I dunno, must be a girl thing."

"It's to keep people from dirtying the place, and whoever does, Ms. Biggle gets to punish them."

Tweek and Allen look at Brendon with a raised eyebrow. "You must've done that yourself to know that," Allen assumes.

"No, it's just merely hunch," Brendon says, being oddly reticent.

"Suuuuure it is." Brendon chuckles at Allen's doubtful tone.

"You're going to hold up the line if you don't pay attention, Stanley."

Stan blinks, startled, then faces forward with a sigh. The line he and Gregory are in isn't as long as the one Tweek is in. "Don't you find it weird?" Stan asks him.

"Not as weird as you ogling Tweek for over two minutes," Gregory deadpans.

"I wasn't ogling him, but you somehow knowing how long I looked at him for is even weirder," Stan retorts rolling his eyes. "But seriously, I think it's strange that he wanted to ask me a question earlier, but then he suddenly changed his mind."

"He can always ask you some other time, you know? Perhaps at that moment he wasn't ready, and just brought it up on a whim."

"...Okay, Mr. Know-it-all. Ugh, I forgot how much of a pain in the ass you are to talk to," Stan grumbles shaking his head while pinching the bridge of his nose. Gregory just grins proudly.

After waiting for almost ten minutes, it's Tweek's, Allen's, Brendon's, and one of the bullies' turns to grab the food/snacks of their choosing. Brendon finally lets go of Tweek's hand. Grabbing a plate first, Tweek scans the four out of the eight containers before him, and his stomach grumbles at both the sight and smell of the provided food, doubting anyone heard it over the commotion. It reminds him that he only drank coffee as his breakfast. He settles on getting a slice of cheese pizza...actually, make that three.

"What the fuck?!" Startled, Tweek almost drops his plate at the sudden outburst that came from behind him. "Why can't I grab anything?!"

As the teen starts frantically grabbing random foods that phase through his hand, Tweek hurriedly walks away. He joins Allen and Brendon, who were already waiting for him by the drink machine. Tweek looks toward the blood dispenser machine, disappointed to see that the coffee machine is gone.

"Can you please stop being so Goddamn cute...?" Brendon didn't let it show the first time, and he's holding himself back right now, but he feels he will surely lose his composer if Tweek pulls on his heartstrings a third time. "Why the long face?"

"The coffee machine isn't here."

"That's only in here during breakfast," Allen says. "But what are you an old man? Who the hell drinks that bitter crap with their lunch?"

Brendon rolls his eyes. "Coffee isn't just for old people, idiot, and it's not always bitter." Ignoring Allen's "Whatever" as he goes to get to himself a drink, Brendon looks back at Tweek. "The coffee machine is back in the teachers lounge, we're allowed to go there and use it as long as we get permission first."

"Really?!"

Brendon bites down his bottom lip, shyly averting his gaze. Tweek's hopeful look is so fucking cute... "Y-yeah, but we can't take our food there."

Paying no mind to Brendon's bashful behavior, Tweek ambles over to Allen. "Hey, umm, can you look after mines and Brendon's food? We're going to the teachers lounge."

"Sure, let's find somewhere to sit at first." Allen beckons the blushing Brendon over to follow them, luckily finding a table that has enough remaining seats. Setting their plates down, Tweek trails behind Brendon out of the cafeteria. Once they're gone, Allen takes a piece of chicken from Brendon's plate.

The walk to the teachers lounge is a bit awkward. Tweek kind of expected Brendon to start up some small talk-

"What's your favorite flavor of coffee?"

Tweek blinks, did he just read his mind? "I don't really have a favorite, I just like them sweet."

Brendon stifles a laugh. "You're lucky vampires can't get diabetes."

"Oh, thank God." Now Tweek doesn't have to limit the amount of sugar and other sweet ingredients he puts into his coffee anymore. "But what about you?"

"I don't have a favorite either cuz I don't like coffee." They turn a corner. "I've tried it before, even with blood in it, but it didn't help."

"Coffee isn't for everyone," Tweek reasons. He realizes this is the second time he's talked about coffee with someone, it's nice.

"True. What made you want to try it out?"

"I worked in my parents' coffee shop. I started drinking coffee when my shifts started lasting past midnight, and since then on, I became addicted to it..." He smiles sadly at the memory of the past, more specifically at his parents. He'll never be able to see them again, it's a fact that's haunted the very depths of his mind ever since he was turned into a vampire against his will. He'll miss them, the aroma of the coffee beans that wafted around the shop, and the frequent customers that would thank him for his hard work.

"You miss them, your parents," Brendon points out sympathetically.

Tweek slows to a stop, wiping the upcoming tears in his eyes. "Yeah...a lot."

Brendon stops beside him. Damn...he looks cute even when he's sad. But Brendon doesn't want him to be sad, and he definitely doesn't want Tweek to be thinking about no one else but him. "Don't worry," his indigo purple eyes brightening in a soft glow, Brendon gently lifts Tweek's head up by the chin, forcing him to make eye contact. "You have me now."

Tweek's eyes widen, and they soon dull in color. Wow, Brendon's eyes are beautiful...

Brendon gives him a small smile, leaning towards his lips. It's been awhile since he'd done this to someone, usually when he did this it's because his soon-to-be partner was either wanting to take things slow (He's too impatient half of the time to wait for them to develop feelings for him the natural way) or they just felt absolutely nothing for him. Tweek falls in the last category. Brendon knows he doesn't have any romantic feelings towards him, the two advances (not counting the wink) he made towards Tweek confirmed it. Yes, he blushed, but it was merely and only out of embarrassment. Nothing else. So he had no choice but to resort to this, Tweek only has himself to blame for being so irresistibly adorable.

"Release him right now."

Their lips merely inches away from touching, an irritated scowl appears on Brendon's face. He backs away letting go of Tweek as the glow in his eyes dim, Tweek's blue-green eyes returning to their normal hue. He blinks a few times, perplexed as to what had just happened.

"What the hell do you want?" He hears Brendon demand scornfully. He looks over to see Kyle glaring at Brendon, he's holding an orange notebook.

"When did he get here?" Tweek wonders, even more confused.

"I want you to get away from Tweek," Kyle practically orders.

Brendon scoffs, "I think you've forgotten that you're no longer President of the Student Council Committee. You can't boss anyone around as you please anymore."

"Umm, w-what's going on?" Tweek timidly asks. The hostility between these two is rather intense, and it's making him very uncomfortable.

Kyle watches as Brendon's expression alters into a fake smile before turning around, grabbing Tweek's hand and reassuring him that it was nothing, and that they should continue on their way to the teachers lounge. Seeing Tweek believe his words not only frustrates Kyle, but also ignites a strong feeling of...perhaps jealousy within his chest. He doesn't like it...

"Oh my, Kyle is jealous? How rare..."

Kyle ignores his twin, having a hunch as to why they're going to the teachers lounge, but he doesn't want Tweek to be around Brendon any longer. As soon as they walk past him, Kyle grabs Tweek's other hand, forcing him to stop.

Startled, Tweek turns his head back to look at Kyle, but the redhead doesn't meet his gaze as he quietly says, "I'll take you there instead."

"What're you-" The moment Brendon turns around, Tweek and Kyle are gone. The two clouds of black haze begin to gradually fade into the cool air. Clenching his hand, Brendon drops it down to his side, staring blankly down the hallway.
