Chapter 26: Learning The Vampire Basics

After teleporting to the teachers lounge's front door, Kyle waits a second or two before knocking. Whilst waiting for the door to be opened, Tweek looks down at their connected hands, Kyle is still maintaining his protective grip. Soon, the door opens and after getting permission to use the coffee machine, the two teens enter while the teacher walks out, leaving Tweek and Kyle the only ones in the room.

Kyle brings Tweek over to the coffee machine, and finally lets go of his hand. Awkwardly, Tweek grabs a small white plastic cup.

"You shouldn't trust Brendon."

Tweek turns to Kyle confused. "How come?"

"Just a few seconds ago, he tried to ki-" Kyle grimaces, unable to finish the word as he experiences another wave of jealousy. He shakes his head to ignore the feeling. "He's just not who you think he is. He's not a nice guy, in fact, he's just as bad as Craig and his boyfriends."

Tweek appears conflicted, he knows Kyle means well and that he's just looking out for him. He's not so sure about Brendon since he only just met him today, but as for Craig, Clyde, and Butters, those guys aren't so bad. "Well..."

"I know you met those three."

Tweek appears shocked. "How-"

"I smelt their scent on you yesterday."

A faint blush colors Tweek's cheeks. "O-oh...t-they sorta kidnapped me." Kyle's stern expression darkens. "But they didn't do anything to me!" Tweek hurriedly says. "They just wanted to apologize, Craig wanted to since he sucked my blood..." He doesn't tell him that the reason they managed to kidnap him was because Craig had knocked him out, that would surely piss Kyle off.

Kyle's anger visibly dissipates a little, mildly surprised Craig even bothered to apologize for one of the many wrongdoings he'd committed in the past, although taking Tweek away against his will was completely unnecessary. "Just because he apologized doesn't make him any less dangerous. Just...be wary of him and Brendon, especially Brendon."

Opting not to question him anymore about Brendon even though he really wants to, Tweek just nods his head and silently begins making his coffee. After he's finished, they exit the room and then go about their separate ways; Tweek returning to the cafeteria, and Kyle heading to the library, which was where he was going initially before he spotted Brendon and Tweek.

It's finally time for everyone to go to their last class of the day. After the last batch of students and teachers that went to lunch had returned to their classrooms, they only had five minutes left for their third period.

Tweek and Brendon remained seated in each other's seats, mostly because Brendon had seemed to be in a bad mood. Of course, Allen asked the both of them for the reason why he looked like that, but neither blonde gave him a clear answer so he didn't probe any further.

Walking along the semi-crowded hallway, Tweek pulls a folded piece of paper out from one of his pants pockets. He considers himself very lucky to have still kept his class schedule all this time. Unfolding the paper, he checks to see what his last class is. The subject is Elements, and it's taught by Mr. Damien Thorn. "Damien?" The name sounds very familiar...wait, Tweek remembers where he heard this name before, yesterday from Mr. DeLorne...

Tweek is unsure how to interpret Mr. Thorn thanks to his childish behavior yesterday evening, he folds the paper back into a small square and returns it into the same pocket he took it out from. It was his first time seeing the man after all, and now he finds out that he's one of his teachers. Well, despite his mild apprehension about Mr. Thorn, at least the subject he teaches sounds interesting. Tweek soon rounds a one-way corner, seeing about six teachers standing beside their classrooms several feet down the hall. One of them looks very familiar, however the black-haired vampire's lackluster expression makes Tweek tense, finding it hard to believe that just yesterday, this man was acting like a carefree child teasing his sibling.

Once Tweek nears Mr. Thorn's classroom, he stops him. "So, where were you yesterday? And I'm not talking about after classes," he says looking a little less bored.

Tweek expected to be asked this. "With Craig because he forced me to ditch with him."

Mr. Thorn sighs. "Sick in bed, my ass," he grumbles although he's not actually angry at the pathetic lie Craig told him a minute ago. "Well, you didn't miss much in my class so you don't have to worry. Also, thanks for giving me and Chris some alone time yesterday." The man chuckles at the faint blush of embarrassment coloring Tweek's pale cheeks, the teen ambles into the classroom. He looks around for a vacant seat to sit at, disregarding some of the eyes on him. He finds one in the middle row behind a shocked looking Pip, who is sat in the third desk. Not just Pip, but a bored looking Craig as well as Brendon are here. Once they lock eyes for a moment, Brendon gives him a small smile and a wave. Tweek timidly returns the gesture, he thought he was still mad at him, or rather, still mad at both him and Kyle. Tweek goes to sit in the empty seat, the British boy's taken aback expression morphing into a tight-lipped frown once he passes by him.

"Fucking snitch," Craig says loud enough for Tweek to hear him from his seat in the back of the classroom on the last row. Tweek just ignores him, as if he was going to lie and tell Mr. Thorn that he ditched because he wanted to. He's not that crazy and daring like Craig and his boyfriends.

The tardy bell rings a minute later. Mr. Thorn walks into his classroom closing the door behind him. "I'm gonna call the roll really quick then we'll get right down to business," he announces while heading over to his chair at the teachers desk. He sits down and begins taking said class' attendance.

While the classroom becomes filled with light chatter amidst Mr. Thorn calling his students' names individually, Tweek wonders about this man's teaching methods. From the class' subject alone, Tweek assumes they're going to be taught how to use magic and learn about their origins, and the variety of elemental powers. But then he wonders why Pip was placed in here, perhaps he'll just learn about them since he won't be able to actually use any magic. Tweek just hopes that they won't do any bookwork today, he'll have to once again rely on one of his classmates (preferably Brendon) to lend him some paper, and he hates feeling unprepared. As soon as he returns to his shared bedroom later, he's going to search for his notebooks and pencil case.

"And now I can finally say the absent student's name, Tweek Tweak."

Tweek snaps out of his thoughts at the call of his full name, very glad that hardly anyone is looking/caring about him compared to half a minute ago. Now he understands why Pip appeared surprised to see him. After saying announcing his presence, Mr. Thorn resumes calling the rest of the names, which was only three more. "Alright, let's hurry on over to the courtyard. I'll explain what we'll be doing today along the way," Mr. Thorn says afterwards, getting up from his seat. Everyone starts doing the same and follow the man out into the hallway. Once the last student comes out, he shuts the door and leads his students to their destination. "There are twenty-five of you guys, but I'm going to teach Tweek so the rest of you twenty-four will group up into three groups of eight. I'll pick the group captains once we reach the courtyard."

Half of his students start to converse with one another, curious about their activity. Tweek, on the other hand, is confused as to why Mr. Thorn is going to teach just him. He told him that he didn't have to worry about being caught up with his lesson since there wasn't much, so why is he excluded from this activity?

"This is gonna be stupid."

Hearing the uninterested monotone voice right next to him, Tweek looks over to his left to see both Craig and Brendon walking alongside him. He then notices that neither Clyde nor Butters are in this class with Craig, it feels a bit strange not seeing all three of them together.

"That or it could be fun," Brendon says trying to sound optimistic.

"I should've skipped today too," Craig scoffs.

"Speaking of that, why'd you force Tweek to ditch with you yesterday?" Brendon asks.

"Why? You mad you couldn't tag along?" Craig counter-asks with a grin.

"No, cuz hanging out with you is boring," Brendon points out in a deadpan. Craig flips him off. "Since you won't tell me, I'll just ask Tweek instead." Tweek's shoulders do a faint jolt, he quickly looks away.

"Goddamn, you're fucking nosy," Craig grumbles. "It's none of your business now drop it."

Brendon glares at him and Craig does the same, Tweek along with some other students can practically feel themselves sweating under the tension. "Tch, you're lucky I'm not in the mood to argue," Brendon says looking away, but flips Craig off at the exact same time he does it to him.

With the tension beginning to ebb away, Brendon strikes up a conversation with Tweek. Craig randomly joining in at some points just to spite Brendon. These two...have a very weird friendship, Tweek deduces.

The class reach the double doors that lead out to the courtyard. Upon opening both of the doors, a cool breeze makes its way into the building. The large group walk out underneath the breezeway then into the courtyard. The sky is completely covered in grey clouds, appearing to bring forth some rain soon. Mr. Thorn leads them past the fountain, he stops and turns to face his students as they stop as well a few feet away from the fountain. Mr. Thorn points at Tweek then beckons for him to come and stand beside him, he obliges. Once Tweek is standing next to him, Mr. Thorn crosses his arms. "Do I have any volunteers for group captain, or should I just go ahead and pick?" Only two vampires raise their hand, and they are Brendon and Craig.

"For something that's gonna be stupid, you sure look eager to participate," Brendon says. Craig replies by shooting him the bird again.

Mr. Thorn beckons them both forward, and as they do so, Tweek hears nearly the whole class start muttering to one another about Craig and him only. It seems most aren't comfortable with him being the leader, and Tweek completely understands why they feel uneasy about this. Brendon and Craig stand in front of him and Mr. Thorn. "No one else?" Their teacher asks. No hands go up. "Vice Zevo, you'll be the third captain, come stand next Craig and Brendon." A teenage vampire with navy-blue hair that reached down to his shoulders and turquoise-colored eyes heaves a heavy sigh before trudging forward, positioning himself in between Brendon and Craig. Tweek instantly recognizes him as the guy he switched bedrooms with, he never knew his name until now. "Now that that's outta way, I want the rest of you to group up. Remember that there has to be eight of you split into three groups. I'll give you all two minutes to get situated."

Tweek watches the remaining students hurry and form themselves into three groups of eight as told, beginning to feel bad for Pip. He looks so awkward just standing there, every time he opens his mouth to say something no one would even glance at him. A similar occurrence like this happened back at their high school, Tweek's lips curling downward into a sympathetic frown at the reminder.

When the two minutes are up, Pip is the only one by himself. Mr. Thorn examines the three groups then blinks in sudden realization, they're uneven. "Oh shit...I miscalculated..." He says with a sweatdrop. Some of his students face-palm while the others laugh. Tweek lightly smacks his forehead, seems not only is his teacher childish, but he's also not very bright.

"Now that's just sad," Craig says shaking his head in slight amusement, then he turns his head to look behind him. "You either must've just thought of this or you just suck at math."

"Ahem, it's definitely the former," Mr. Thorn says sounding certain although the blush in his cheeks evidently portray his embarrassment. Craig merely rolls his eyes and looks away. "Umm, just place yourself into a group, Pip." With the laughter quieting down, Pip simply shifts next to the vampire beside him. "Alright captains, choose a group." It immediately becomes deathly silent, the vampires and Pip nervously waiting/hoping that their group doesn't get picked by Craig while Pip practically prays that neither Craig nor Brendon pick the group he's in. But one of the groups are going to be selected by them regardless of their desire. After Brendon, Craig, and Vice select their group, Mr. Thorn speaks again. "Here's what you guys are gonna do, you all are gonna compete with each other in a game of hide and seek. I'm sure everyone here has played it before so there's no need to go over the rules, but there is this. The group captains will determine the length of the game. If one of them is found, then whichever team that found them will automatically win, and get a one-hundred for their project grade." His last statement piques his students' interests. "The main hiding location is the woods, but you can also hide in some of the empty rooms in the academy building, but not in your bedrooms though. If I sense that any of you are chillin' in your room, then that's an automatic zero. You all will have throughout the remainder of this period to play, and don't forget that this activity will count towards your project grade so don't even think about not taking this seriously." Mr. Thorn shoots the back of Craig's head a knowing look just as he lets out a groan of disappointment. "If none of the teams manage to win before class is over, then everyone will get a fifty for participating. You all can begin now, and make sure Pip doesn't get left behind."

Tweek watches his classmates teleport out of the courtyard, the masses of black smoke whisking away quicker than usual thanks to the gentle blowing wind. He is extremely glad that he's not taking part in hide and seek, he freaking hates that game with a passion. He wasn't a good seeker nor hider.

"So," Tweek turns to face his teacher, blue-green eyes looking up and meeting striking dark red. "Now that you're a vampire, I assume you don't know how to teleport and use telepathy yet."

Tweek frowns at the reminder. "I wanted to try teleporting back into the academy when I was with Craig and his boyfriends yesterday, but he threatened me not to."

Mr. Thorn shakes his head, disappointed but not surprised at Craig's authoritative nature. "Well, it's a good thing you didn't actually end up doing that because teleporting isn't as simple as you think it is. When you want to teleport, you have to be detailed about the location. If you fail to be specific, then you can end up transporting yourself somewhere completely random." Tweek appears horrified at the thought of potentially teleporting out of the state. "Since you're still new in both aspects, I'll help you get familiar with them, starting with teleportation first."

Tweek blinks, dumbfounded. "O-okay." He honestly didn't expect to be taught how to teleport and use telepathy, not in this class at least. But he's thankful for the tutelage.

Throughout the duration of class, Tweek practiced teleporting to certain places within the academy, then communicating with others via telepathy (Brendon and Butters were the only ones he tested his telepathy out on), getting the hang of each after at least several tries. Mr. Thorn later told him amidst him trying to get the hang of teleporting that he could also envision the location he wanted to go to, something he should've told Tweek way beforehand. He has a very vivid imagination, and for the first time in his life, it was put to actual good use.
