Chapter 24

Slayer in Wonderland

"Why is it all so scary? This isn't right at all!" Nursery Rhyme yelled in disapproval at the current state of the world around them. Doomguy learned that the little one was a living concept of a "Hero to Children" due to how such stories brought cheer and happiness to children. Right now the world space they were in was supposed to be the story of Alice In Wonderland. But the Demonic influence has corrupted the lands making them more and more twisted as they walked towards the source of the corruption.

The two servants reached a dark brown desert landscape as the skies turned a lifeless grey. A total opposite of the area where he found the child servant running for her life.

"..." The girl didn't have any words to say due to how overwhelming it was just to see her world turn into a maddening nightmare.

Doomguy pats her on the head. She looks up at him and then smiles.

They eventually reach a bridge that spans a massive ravine with bubbling lava at the bottom of it. Across the bridge was a massive castle that looked more gothic rather than fantasy.

"...the Queen's castle…I think this is where all this evil was spread from. Can you help me get rid of it, Mister?" Nursery Rhyme asked.

She didn't even need to ask in the first place. He nods and both cross the bridge into the walls of the dark stronghold. It didn't take long before twisted abominations started jumping out of nowhere to attack them.

"Eek! I think they are supposed to be the guards but…" The little one tried to make sense but she was too scared to finish her sentence as the corrupted knights of wonderland hobbled over to them with a mindless bloodlust.

Doomguy dispatched them with hot plasma due to these guys not being above your usual shambling zombie. Looking at the armour they were the knight's Nursery Rhyme described. So he guessed this must be where the Queen of hearts lives, or what's left of them at least.

He checks on the kid who was hiding behind some barrels. Thankfully she was unharmed but shaken at the sight of the monsters.

"...T-that was scary…I am glad you are here, Mister." She said running up to him. Doomguy gives her a nod before trying to get the main door open but it won't budge even with his monstrous strength. That only meant that it either needed a key or a flip of a switch.

"I don't see a keyhole…Maybe there is a lever or something to get these doors open." Doomguy nods to her suggestion. Calling on his experience within the labyrinths of hell he guessed there had to be a skull switch nearby. Going around the perimeter they don't find anything other than more undead knights. Doomguy gunned them down with precise headshots to give them a swift death via his rifle.

He again was getting the odd sensation of having true control of his anger. After Ritsuka got sick he was going into overdrive to keep his anger in check. In every battle since then, he felt the madness enhancement pushing back, but he won't let it control him. He was sick of being blind in battle; he spent years with Valen to put his mind back together. Once they are back at Chaldea he will find a way to put his mind right...Maybe somehow contact Scathach again for some assistance.

"Mister! Mister! Over here!" The child yelled to get his attention. Doomguy found Nursery Rhyme pointing into a barred-off window that gave a decent view into the castle.

"I couldn't find a switch but I found this window. I can't fit through it though…" She said as Doomguy took a look inside…It was just a hallway that was heavy on the gothic hell theme….At the end of the hall was a skull…

Doomguy Shoots it with his heavy cannon, startling the child servant in the process. The skull eyes lit up and a mechanical sound echoed throughout the area.

"...Well I guess that's one way to hit a button…Can you warn me next time please." Nursery Rhyme said while covering her ears. Doomguy instantly felt guilty and quickly nodded to apologise for his instinct to shoot skull switches.

They both quickly checked the door yet it still didn't budge. That means there was most likely another switch as thematically needed in an evil-looking castle. Since the first switch was on the right side of the perimeter it wasn't too far off to guess that the other one was on the opposite side. After another jaunt around the castle wall, they find another switch inside the building and Doomguy shoots it…After giving the little one a heads-up.

A louder mechanical noise echoed and both ran back to the door.

It was now opened, revealing the darkened interior of the castle. Torches and candles were lighting the place yet it didn't help the dark and ominous feeling of the place for Nursery Rhyme. Doomguy activates his helmet lights that effectively illuminate his lines of sight. He enters with his companion only for the door to slam close behind them.

Doomguy just sighs at how cliche the whole situation was meanwhile Nursery Rhyme was spooked but keeping quiet. The place was supposed to be a fantasy castle full of life and wonder like in the story…Now it was a hellish nightmare as they walked through the halls.

The atmosphere of dread weighed heavy on the child's heroic spirit causing her to cling to the warrior's side. Doomguy was ever vigilant since there were no monsters to be seen when they entered a very large and open ballroom.

"I have a bad feeling about this…Even The Ballrom just gives me the creeps." Nursery Rhyme then jumped as echoes of demented screams and laughter echoed from the ceiling above. Both raise their gaze to find a horde of twisted creatures hanging upon it like bats and insects.

"Eeek!" The little servant screamed as the monsters jumped at them from above. Doomguy was quick to react and scooped the girl up in his arm to get her out of the way of the horde. The creatures crashed together into a pile of writhing piles of monsters where the two were standing. Doomguy lobs three ice grenades into the dog pile, freezing them in place to buy them some time. He then scans the room for a place for Nursery Rhyme to hide and spots a cabinet for her to hide.

"W-what about you, mister?!" She asked worriedly. Doomguy just bumps his chest plate with his fist and gestures for her to remain here. He then closes the door just as the monsters start to break free from their icy prison.

Light within Darkness

His opening attack was a rocket blast sending the monsters flying everywhere along with the exercise-rated remains that died. Getting a good look they seemed to be more of this world's inhabitants that were distorted into monstrosities shaped like Bats and various kinds of insects. Creatures that would instil fear in children rather than bring them peace during story time. The monsters rushed him with a mindless urge to destroy everything they touched. He responded with two frags to stagger them and opened fire with his Chaingun. As they closed in on him he activated shield attachment to use the barrier as a battering ram. No rules for using a shield as a weapon as Mashu can attest.

Before the bugs could get back up they got a fresh coating of napalm from his shoulder-mounted flamethrower followed by a hailstorm of buckshot. As he dispatched them they could not even get close due to how agile he was jumping and running along the walls.

He was armed to the teeth yet fast as a rabbit.

Nursery Rhyme watched from her hiding spot as her protector defeated the scary monsters. Looking through a small crack in the cabinet door, she witnessed her friend's ferocity that should strike fear into her….Yet it didn't. His willingness to protect a powerless servant like herself…His unwavering strength to fight the monster that hunted her…

He was a Hero…One that inspires Hope…

A tiny white light sparkled in her hands while Doomguy punched a massive brute that appeared to be in the sad state of a butler.

"Raahhhh! Come here tiny man!" It roared as Doomguy dashed around while shaking his chainsaw as it was gummed up with blood. He decided to just go the old-fashioned way and blood punched it through a wall. Before it could even get up he fires a volley of remote detonates rockets into the hole in the wall.

Just to be sure.

Things finally calmed down as no more wonderland monsters came crawling down the ceiling. What was once an empty ballroom was now the aftermath of a horror movie. Bodies of creatures made of children's nightmares…Maybe he should clean up before picking up-

"Are you ok mister? There were a lot of them." Nursery Rhyme said behind him with wandering eyes. He gave her a nod saying that he was okay, these guys were nothing more than a horde of imps and prowlers minus that brute-

Doomguy then gets tackled to the ground by the thought to be a dead brute.

"RAAAAAAHH" it shouted as it pinned Doomguy to the ground and started to smash its fists at him.

The fucker manages to pin him in a pile of bodies that explode into that purple slime. Just his luck…Getting pinned IN a puddle of that wretched substance as he was getting punched in the face repeatedly. He just needs to get some leverage with his legs or just get his arm free…

"Get off of him you big meanie!" Nursery Rhymes shouted as she threw crystals of light at the beast her attacks burned into its skin causing it to roar in pain

"Uh oh…" She froze in fear as it reared its managed hand with anger. Then paused after hearing a strange noise before getting cleaved in half by a fiery red blade. Doomguy managed to get his right arm free and equipped his crucible.

The brute falls into two pieces before burning into ash thus confirming its demise for real this time. Allowing Doomguy to pull himself out of the goo and check in on Nursery Rhyme who was kicking the ash.

"That's what you get you big meanie!" she said as she stuck out her tongue. Doomguy let out a very quiet chuckle at her antics, even as a servant she is still a child.

"Sorry for getting you into trouble, I should've waited…" She said looking sad.

The Slayer shook his head, Right now he was on his A-Game so he was in total control of the situation. Even in the goo, he had the plan to freeze the beast and give him a double-barrel lobotomy.

He gives her a thumbs up thanking her for the assist.

"Hehe, you're welcome. It looks like I do have some power left in me, but let's hope that's the last of them." She said as Doomguy walked towards the door next to the other end of the ballroom. He kicked it open to reveal nothing but a pit leading way down into the unknown depths.

"*Gulp* we don't have to go down there…Right?" Nursery Rhyme asked before a cold wind blew up from the abyss.

Doomguy turned his headlamp onto the maximum 100,000-lumen setting lighting up the shaft only to reveal nothing but bricks leading to an abyss…

"Look! Over there!" She pointed down to a doorway that was many stories below them. Seeing there was no other way out in this nightmare of a castle that seemed to be their best option. Doomguy looks at the kid who could already tell what they were about to do.

"Fine. Just don't let me fall. Promise?" She asked and he nodded. He picked her up in his arms tightly so that she felt safe while he planned the descent.

He learned quickly about how servants defy the laws of physics so he figured he can run down the shaft Spider-man style. Doomguy jumps to the opposite wall and his body clings to the wall like he was a spider. Satisfied, the wall runs down to the doorway below in a descending spiral so that nursery Rhyme wasn't staring into the darkness. Regardless she kept her eyes shut due to how the deeper they got the more uneasy she felt.

About halfway down the place started to shake, forcing Doomguy to stop and dig his fingers into the stone walls.

"What's going on?!" The kid said while keeping her eyes shut. Doomguy looks up to find several fireballs coming at them at blazing speeds followed by a wall of lava. Well, it was time to take the express route so he jumps down with Nursery Rhyme screaming in fear. The Slayer then equips his super shotgun to meathook their way to the entrance right at the last second. His feet hit the ground with a loud thud, signalling to the child that it was safe now.

She opens her eyes to find them in the entryway she spotted. The path ahead is shaped similarly to a dungeon or prison that left a chilling aura in the air. With the lava filling the shaft behind them they could only push forward into the depths of the castle. Nursery hugged close to Doomguy's side as they started to walk into the dark dungeons that held nothing but death within its cells. Skeletons chained up to the walls and scattered across the ground. All of them had their skulls severed in front of the rest of the bones.

As she stared at them the dead seemed to stare back and follow her movements.

"...You abandoned us…"

"...you are nothing…"

"...weakling…coward…"

The dead were the remnants of the inhabitants of this world that weren't turned into monsters… Darkly they were the lucky ones yet they start whispering to the girl in hatred.

"...You are no hero for children…"

Nursery Rhyme covered her ears to try to block the voices out but they were echoing in her head.

"I-I…I…I can't take it anymore! It's too scary!" She cried as she broke down into tears. Doomguy stopped in his tracks to tend to the crying child. Something was messing with her head as he heard nothing but silence recently. He scanned the area trying to find anything that could be the cause.

Then The Slayer saw it, the slight shimmer of something being cloaked from vision hiding in the dark corner of one of the cells.

He quickly fires a ballista shot that forces the creature to scramble away into a hole in the ceiling. All he was able to tell the thing was some sort of quadruped as it remained cloaked.

Whatever it was it was the cause of his allies' distress as she started to calm down.

"...They stopped…?" she said while still crying in fear. The sight of her causing a crushing feeling in his soul. He pats her on the head to assure her that it will be okay and they will get through it.

The girl jumps up for a hug. The act still causes him to pause but like with Ritsuka, he pats her on the back. Nursery Rhyme then calms down once again thanks to Doomguy and lets him go.

"I'm sorry…It's just hard to see my world in such a state…I am supposed to be a Hero for Children but here I am crying because I couldn't protect myself from monsters…" She said,

"...But I can't stop now. I HAVE to make things right. Thanks to you I feel we are close to putting an end to this nightmare." Nursery Rhyme said, reminding herself that she wasn't alone in this fight.

Doomguy then gives her a positive thumbs up and then they rush through the dark dungeon. As they move forward the hallway warps and contorts as if reality was in flux. A reasonable guess was that they were getting very near to the source of the corruption. They reach a massive door at the end of a path of floating rocks due to reality seeming to break down around them.

"My best guess is that the Queen of Hearts is behind this door. Now she is probably a monster like the others, not I feel too bad about it since she is a big meanie of a ruler.. I also sense the source of this evil infesting my book as well." She said while looking at the door.

The Slayer also senses the demonic energy beyond the door that confirms his small ally's hypothesis. He cracks his Knuckles in anticipation but then pauses remembering his promise to Ritsuka. Once he kills the demon that would mean that Nursery Rhyme could be recovered from being possessed. He never saw anybody become un possessed so he still had his hidden doubts but in this world of strange magical bullshit, anything is possible at this point.

Regardless of what happens, The Demons will pay in blood…

Doomguy was about to bust the door open then decided to teach Nursery Rhyme a little trick of his.

The Door then busts open as Doomguy comes rolling out with a super shotgun at the ready as Nursery Rhyme follows a safe distance behind. What they found was a dark gothic throne room that appeared to be empty…until energy started to crackle around them before forming into a massive orb. The Orb then started to pulse like a heart, ever-increasing its rhythm with each passing second.

Shortly it explodes in demonic energy revealing a floating skeletal torso dressed in ragged queen's garbs. What confirmed that this monster was the source of the corruption was its head was in the shape of a giant Lost Soul that was engulfed in a strange blue aura that burned brighter than normal.

It screams at the presence of the Doomslayer and summons a massive fiery axe before swinging madly at him. Doomguy parries the weapon and fires a rocket-ballista bolt combo into its face.

Thus the battle commenced against The Blood Queen.

Battle For Ones Soul

Doomguy kept light on his feet as he battled the Queen dodging the rapid swings of the bloody axe. The monster does an overhead cut at him but doomguy dashes out of the way. The blade got stuck in the ground causing the Queen to try to force it out leaving a prime opening for doomguy. He runs up the axe, jumping over the queen's swipe at him then grabs onto its face.

Beat-down time!

The Slayer started to punch the demon's face repeatedly as it spins around trying to get him off. He eventually grabs him and throws him into the wall which he quickly recovers from to get back into the action.

Only to see that the damage he dealt was healed. No matter, he does the same amount of damage with some frags and a destroyer blade. Again it regenerated before his eyes…

Doomguy was getting annoyed yet he kept on fighting as Nursery Rhyme watched on from her hiding spot. She said she'll find a place to and call out if she needed help.

"It keeps healing its wounds. That's cheating! Think, Think…Think, think. How can I help?" She thought while hiding behind a stone pillar.

"...Oh look…The failure thinks they can retake her world…" The whispering from before called out.

"Who is that? Show yourself." She said with determination.

"Oh-oh-oh. Putting on a mask of courage have we? Fine. I shall oblige then." A demonic feline head appeared in front of her, bearing its many razor-sharp teeth.

"It can't be…Cheshire Cat…"

"Well, Well. Sharp as ever…Alice…or should I call you Nursery Rhyme." the demented feline head said with spite.

"I-I am sorry Cheshire Cat, but we can fix it! We just need to" The then was interrupted by the growling of Cheshire."

"You FAILED to protect our world! Do you understand it wasn't a simple transformation! Well felt like mere moments for you was an ETERNITY FOR ALL OF US!" The Cheshire Cat exclaimed with immense hatred. Nursery Rhyme only found herself running away from the corrupted Mad Hatter after getting attacked by some strange monster in the fog.

"Yes! Everyone suffered because of you! Now it's time for our REVENGE" The beast tries to bite her but She ducks and runs away.

"I got to get to mister! He can help! Eeek!" Nursery Rhyme stopped dead in her tracks as the headless body of Chesire appeared in front of her.

"There is no escape! You are powerless. HAHA!" The monster taunted as both head and Body circled here.

'I-I need his help, I can't…I'm not strong enough.' She was about to yell for help but then time stopped

'You're wrong…' A voice calls out in her head.

'You are a beacon of hope…Many children are happy because of you…No matter what darkness you might find yourself in…' A ghost copy of herself manifests in front of her…but instead of black clothing…it was a light blue…

"Alice…" Nursery Rhyme whispered and closed her eyes.

'1…2…3…4 breath in…'

'1…2…3…4 breath out

"Oh, accepting your death? How cowardly. I was hoping to play with my food." The beast growls as it reconnects its head to the body. He then pounces on her with a murderous hunger.

Only to get swatted away by an invisible force like a mere rodent.

He tries again, then gets swatted away again like an unwanted insect.

"What is going on! You should be powerless!" he growled.

"No! I am not powerless. I am the hope for children! I am

NURSERY RHYME!" She shouted as a pulse of white light revealed a massive humanoid-like creature with massive fits that could crush bears and wings to its back.

The sight caused Doomguy and the Queen to halt their battle to see what had just manifested. The Slayer thought the creature was another Demon but then it let the kid up onto its shoulder.

"T-the Jabberwock?! How can you still have that!?" Cheshire said in shock. Doomguy was slightly relieved to see that it was under the kid's command.

"I never lost anything! I was only afraid but Mister reminded me of what I am as a heroic spirit!" She shouted with renewed purpose. She then looks over to her ally and gives him thumbs up!

"Get him, Jabberwock!" The creature then slams its fist together.

"W-wait! I'm one of your creations! You can't crush me!" The cat said in panic while trying to cloak itself invisible but it couldn't. As if the body was denying the function.

"No, you are a monster wearing the Cheshire Cat as a mask. Just like the monsters before. I will bring back everyone and make this world a happy place as it should be!" The Jabberwock crushed the demon under its fists and caused a wave of light to engulf the room and restored it to its original wondrous form!

The Queen of Blood started to scream in pain as its body started to crack with light.

"Mister! I have restored this room to its original form! We should be able to beat the queen now! Let's go!" She said as the Jabberwock punches the queen right in the face. Not bothering to question it, Doomguy gets right into the action with the Unmaykr.

Both worked together in overpowering the weakened Bloodqueen with the Jabberwock playing the defence to protect its summoner as Doomguy starts blasting.

As Argent power bullets rained on, the Queen screamed in pain as its wounds would not heal. All it could do is swing its axe in wild desperation until Nursery Rhyme's Golem knocks it out of her hands. Right nearby Doomguy who decided it was time to add a taste of irony to his next Glory Kill. He picks up the oversized axe with ease and carries it over his shoulder. The Jabber work then pushes the Queen down on its back, pinning the demonic menace down with its stone fists.

The demon watches as Doomguy slowly approaches it with the axe, imprinting the dread of fear into its cursed existence.

"Uh oh. I can't Watch!" Nursery Rhyme said while covering her eyes. Doomguy then raises the axe and cuts right into the face of the Queen right at the jaw. The demon screams its pain before exploding into one massive pulse of light that engulfed everyone.

Once Doomguy's eye's adjusted he found himself in an open field with many flowers around him.

"We did it. We really Did it!" Nursery Rhyme said standing behind him. He turns around to see her smiling happily as ever. With the Demon slain, Nursery Rhyme was able to reset the story back to the beginning to undo the damage done to wonderland. Doomguy nods as for once he was able to undo a demonic possession; it was a difficult task but he wanted to keep his promise.

He offered his hand to take her with him to join Chaldea's side.

"I would like to join you and finally meet a nice master…but…" Nursery Rhyme then gently sits down…

"I am too tired…That monster controlled most of my spirit Origin…So in defeating it…" Doomguy's eyes widened at the realisation…He just severely damaged the core of the child. He shook his head, there were still Ritsuka and Gudao who could use a command seal to restore her! He couldn't accept seeing her die after everything that happened.

"Mister, It's okay. I knew this from the start…I was just too afraid to do anything. Until I met you…" She said with a smile as the world around them started to fade away in a golden light. Doomguy looks to the ground with a sense of failure…sure she was just another servant, yet the fact she was a kind kid caused something deep down inside him to start screaming.

"Mister. It's okay…I'm sure we will meet again as long as you keep giving others Hope. You have reminded me of my purpose in the world and given me the courage to face my fears." The world of space began to shrink away as the ground started to turn into pages that flew into the heavens like doves.

"But I will still help you. I will turn what's left of myself into a Noble Phantasm. I may not be much, but surely you can find a person that I could remove from a fight. I will do my best to make sure they'll find peace and won't cause you any more trouble." She said as Doomguy sat down next to her. The best he could do now is be with her until it was time.

"Mister…What is your name?" Nursery Rhyme asked as she always called him

"Mister?" The girl tilted her head curiously.

Doomguy lowered his head…He still can't remember his name.

"I…Can't remember…" He said.

"Oh that is horrible…I wish I could do something to help. Well, If we were able to save me then I'm sure you can find out who you are. I believe in you." She said with a big smile.

"Then you can tell me when you remember!" She said as the pages flew around the armoured man and started to pull him up into the sky.

"Goodbye, Friend. Thank you for everything. You did save me." She said waving farewell to her saviour. Doomguy tried to reach out to her but within seconds he was back in the second-floor study of the bookstore.

"Doomguy! You're back!" Ritsuka said, running over to her servant and giving him a big hug. He pats her on the back as he knew his master had to have been worried about him.

"We were able to see what was going on right as Nursery Rhyme summoned the Jabberwock…'' Gudao said before looking sad.

"...That means we saw what happened to the kid…Damn. I can't imagine what she has been through." Mordred said.

"But we're all glad you were there to make sure she wasn't alone in the end, Doomguy-san." Mashu said with a proud smile.

"Fou-Fou!" The little barker welcomed his friend.

"It seems your status is well founded. As a writer myself I am glad to see a much brighter ending to the story of a corrupted wonderland." Hans added.

"Yeah, Doomguy, you were able to save her in the end." Romani said.

So many people gave him praise…Yet he still felt like for not bringing Nursery Rhyme home whole. He quickly suppresses the emotions and reminds himself of the mission. As Ritsuka lets him go, he picks up the magical book gently and places it in a nearby leather book bag.

"It is unfortunate we couldn't add her to our ranks but I think we can put her gift to good use." Vega added as Hans observed the book it was completely repaired and emitted nominal amounts of magical energy. Doomguy then gave the bag to Ritsuka as he felt it was wrong to keep the book in his inventory system, regardless of how safer it would be.

"You want to carry her?" Ritsuka asked.

Doomguy nods and she takes the bag with a smile.

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of her." She said and then the group leaves the store with their new ally in tow…With Mordred "volunteering" to carry all of Hans's luggage along the way herself! Not because Doomguy was still a teeny-tiny bit angry at Mordred for her antics earlier.

Once they returned to the base they were greeted by Tamamo welcoming them back from a successful mission.

"My, what a lovely little hideout. I like it. I'll study next to the living room. I'll be unpacking, so call me if you need me. Oh and don't forget to knock." Hans then enters said room right after Mordred emerges from it.

"I never thought we would have an author as an ally. But I guess anything is possible. Shall I bring you all something to eat? You all must be hungry." Tamamo asked.

"Yes, please! I could eat a horse at this rate." Mordred said as she crashed onto Jekyll's good couch while still fully armoured.

"She's wrecking my personal sofa again…I'd prefer you use the one for guests…Oh, never mind. Take your rest for now. I need to go check in with the local law enforcement for any more leads." Jekyll said before retreating to his lab right as Tamamo and Fran came in with some Apple Cider and homemade snacks.

"Uh…aaaauh!" Fran said as she put the platter down.

"That's right, time to eat up!" Tamamo added and everyone got to chow down on some good old home cooking.

"Well, How is it?" Kitsune asked with a smile.

"It's really good! I am surprised with your cooking skills. I see where Cat got them from." Mashu said while munching on some cookies.

"It is a Tamamo staple that is great at cooking! I will admit Cat has a little bit of an edge over me due to her being heavy on the cooking service side of me. It's the reason she is always running around in that adorable maid outfit." Tamamo said while pouring out some cider for everyone.

"Huh, Is it true that you and your tails don't get along?" Gudao asked

"Unfortunately, yes. I believe they still hold resentment from me for removing them. But I have faith in masters like you two who can prevent any Tamamo from causing chaos. If not then Doomguy-sama would surely step in to keep the peace." She said honestly.

"Uh-uh!" Fran nods as she offers a cracker to Fou.

"Nine of you in the same team? That'd be a headache trying to ask who's-who." Mordred commented while getting some daggers from Tamamo.

"Master Ritsuka and Master Gudao already have some experience working with alternate versions of a heroic spirit,'' Vega said.

"Huh? Who else at Chaldea has a bunch of copies of them?" Mordred asked.

"...Your father…" Ritsuka said.

Mordred just froze at the thought…She looked over the Chaldea group looking for someone to tell her it was a joke…Yet all of them nodded at what Ritsuka said, even Fou for some odd reason.

"...Eh…" Mordred just flops backwards onto the couch. Lucky she wasn't holding her drink but her armour did damage the upholstery a bit.

"I think you guys broke her." Romani commented while taking a sip of coffee.

The break continues as they fill in Tamamo on what is happy on their recent task of dealing with a magical book. Only for Doomguy to go on an adventure in wonderland to help save a servant from the clutches of hell.

"Oh my…Poor girl. Even as a servant it must've been such an ordeal to have a battle for your own soul" Tamamo said.

"...Doomguy did in the end save her but the damage was too great to her spirit origin to allow her to manifest fully as a servant. So, she instead decided to repay his kindness and turned herself into a Noble Phantasm to assist us in a future battle." Gudao explained, causing a disheartened expression among everyone. Doomguy hid his emotions to stay focused but his clenched fists betrayed him, his frustration with the outcome boiling up within him.

"I know that Doomguy did his best though! He gave Nursery Rhyme the hope she needed to face her fears. Just like he does for me!" Ritsuka said, reminding everyone of how happy she was in the end.

"Uh, Uh!" Fran agreed with Ritsuka. Doomguy could tell they were trying to Cheer him up. In his opinion it was pointless but he wasn't going to ruin the moment for them. So he just nodded to his master who smiled back.

"No matter what, Doomguy. I believe in you." Ritsuka said with a smile that was too bright for a man that lived a life of nothing but darkness. He watched as the other chatted away with such a cheerful smile full of hope…

Hope…

Now that's something he hasn't felt in a long time…

It wasn't long before they needed to head out again for another mission. Their next target was the Infamous Jack the Ripper. Jekyll reported that the murderer was out and causing chaos against Scotland Yard.

"That guy! That bastard is finally out of whatever hole he was hiding in!" Mordred said. Doomguy perked up at the thought of putting that monster down, Jack may look like a kid but he guessed it had to be just a mask to hide the monster within.

"An acquaintance?" Gudao asked, causing both Doomguy and Mordred to Nod.

"Wait, you fought Jack The Ripper, Doomguy?" Ritsuka asked and her servant nodded.

"Odd, I have no record of the encounter from your suit's data recorder…" VEGA commented.

"...hmm…That would explain why he was so tense when I first met him. Ritsuka is a woman and we all know what Jack the Ripper was known for…" Tamamo said as Ritsuka felt a chill down her spine. She looked at her servant who nodded in confirmation of what happened.

"I bet he gave the bastard a good thrashing. Did you end up taking him down?" Mordred asked and was disappointed when he shook his head. Understandable as The Slayer was focused on protecting a very ill Ritsuka but he did manage to scare her off with just one hit. His enemies in general don't get a chance to run away to fight another day if The Demons had anything to say about him.

The Wretch is a lucky one.

"Well, I ain't gonna bother asking what he looked like. From my experience: I can't remember a face, figure or specific abilities! It pisses me off! Every time I hear Jack the Ripper all I can think is, 'Oh yeah, that assassin!" Mordred said in annoyance. Doomguy just blinks as he remembers the little monster perfectly even with his fragmented memory.

"Hmmm…It must be an ability for Jack if they don't secure the kill. Even if they get away Jack will still have the upper hand. Have you two fought 'An Assassin' recently?" Jekyll asked Gudao and Mashu.

"No, The only other servant we ran into was Mordred. I guess Ritsuka-Senpai being sick was a more appealing target. No offence of course" Mashu said.

"None taken. I had muscles and VEGA here to protect me." She said while trying to hide the shock of being Jack The Ripper bait.

"Alright! Enough Chit-chat about the psycho in the fog! We should hurry before they get away! Let's go!" Mordred shouted and everyone agreed. Anderson decided to stay behind as he mentioned he wouldn't be too useful in a fight.

"Besides, you already have a more useful Caster in Tamamo-no-Mae. She may have a sly fox exterior, but has a good heart and is loyal to her lord." He said while Tamamo felt a little annoyed at his fox comment. With that out of the way, the away team started to head out to save the day once again.

"Hey where's Doomguy?" Ritsuka said, looking around for her Berserker. After peeking around the corner she sees him and Fran having another "conversation".

"Guh…ahh?" Fran said.

Doomguy nods.

"Uh-ah. Ah?" Fran added with a cute head tilt

Doomguy shrugs.

"Aaaaah. Ah, Ah!" Fran continued.

Doomguy nods again and gives her a thumbs up.

Ritsuka couldn't help but smile as she let them finish their talk.

Without delay, they rush towards where Jack was last spotted. Not wanting to lose this chance to take the monster down they ran and servant speeds with Doomguy and Mashu carrying their respective masters. Mordred and Tamamo tailed behind them as they rushed to the police station in danger.

"Don't worry Senpai, I got you." Mashu said as she carried Gudao

"I am all good, Mashu. I trust you." He said, causing Mashu to blush a bit.

"Yeeeesh, can those two get a room?" Ritsuka said as Doomguy carried her in his arm with Fou hitching a ride on top of VEGA. Unknown to her, The Nursery Rhyme book in her bag started to glow ever so slightly…

AN: Well, Doomguy does it again with violence and a little help from a friend! Like Tamamo I felt Nursery Rhymes's inclusion in London was shoehorned in for the sake of having more faces in said chapter. At least she gets more attention in events but she still gets the short of the stick with her ingame animations and NP. Thus I decided to pull the Jabberwock out of the Extraverse trove of ideas to give her some more boom! A severely underused asset and could've been used for her NP in FGO.

So yeah, I decided to give my own take on a Corrupted wonderland partially inspired by a Wonderland Doom WAD by fiend-o-hell. I wanted to keep this down to a chapter to avoid dragging it out for too long and I am still Noobish at making OC stuff so hopefully, this isn't too wack.

Not gonna lie I accidentally typed "Mister Bubbles" a few times because I had Bioshock on my brain while writing this...(Bioshock 2 to be specific.)

Anyways Next up is the second encounter of Jack the Ripper. The question is...Will she be able to face down The Slayer?
