Chapter 28: The Vampire Hunter
Strolling along a sidewalk accompanied by a few other pedestrians on that same rainy day in the late evening is a tall man dressed in a long, black single breasted trench coat with matching dress pants and shoes. His hands are stuffed cozily inside his coat pockets, and his head - which is dipped down slightly - is protected by a dark brown fedora. He'd just arrived in this town, finding this so-called academy housing vampires still seems so bizarre to him. First of all, why would there even be such a place for those bloodsuckers anyway? Must be why it's stationed deep within the woods, he assumes. Which is all the more reason why he was sent here to get rid of them.
For all he knows, they could've been plotting to take over this state or something villainous like that. A similar occurrence was attempted at the previous state he was in, except it was a gang of rogue vampires. Taking them out was far too easy so he expects similar results at Valentine Academy.
The man stops walking as he grips an item inside his right pocket, pulling it out to reveal a folded piece of paper that quickly gets soaked by the rain. However, he doesn't care as he unfolds it with both hands that are covered in dark leather gloves, the words written in ink unintelligible to read. Thanks to his fedora, no one around is able to witness his teal slitted eyes (a mole under his left eye) brighten, thinking he is simply looking down in grief at a useless scrap of paper as they pass by him. But in actuality, the smeared scribbles on the paper are glowing in a faint white light, then they slowly rearrange themselves into comprehensible sentences. Once the words are neatly situated enough for him to read them, the man's eyes and the sentences dim in the same motion. Though the words appear magically dry, the paper, on the other hand, still maintains its saturated appearance, giving off an illusion that the neat handwriting is hovering over the paper. The individual resumes his leisure walk as he scans over what his boss had wrote to him, to make sure he'd memorized the instructions and other details correctly. Spotting nothing out of place after a minute or two, he looks up with another halt and observes his surroundings, seeing a conveniently located hotel on the opposite sidewalk. Constantly going from state to state with hardly any breaks is extremely tiring, but he isn't so bold as to complain about it straight to his boss' face unless he wants his head to be an additional figure hanging up on the wall in his boss' office along with the other animals, that is.
Folding the paper back into a square then returning it into his trench coat pocket, he looks both ways before crossing the street. He enters the warm establishment, and notes that it's practically empty. There's only a woman sat behind the front desk. He approaches her, she has brown hair and brown eyes. Once she notices him by the sound of his footsteps, the sweet smile she was going to present to him instead becomes a skeptical frown.
"H-hello, sir, how may I help you?"
The man doesn't know why she's so suspicious of him, perhaps his drenched attire is the cause. But he can honestly care less, he just wants to hurry into a room so he can rest up well for tomorrow. He gives the lady a harmless eye smile, and says, "I would like to book a room for one night."
The brunette nods then faces her computer to get started. The booking process goes both swiftly and smoothly much to the man's liking, walking into his temporary room with a soft sigh as he shuts the door behind him. He feels a great urge to skip taking a much-needed shower and plop himself straight into the comfy looking bed, but he quickly thinks against doing that as he heads to the bathroom. What good would it do him if he woke up with a cold, not to mention his clothes would stick to his body like glue.
Shuddering in disgust at the thought, he closes the door then begins taking off his clothes, starting with his fedora. His short black hair is the only part on his body that was spared from the rain. His feet would've been dry also if he hadn't stepped into a puddle earlier, but the good thing is that no mud clung onto the bottom of his shoes. Now in the nude exposing his well-toned body and a colorful complex dragon tattoo that covers every inch of his back, he comes to the dreadful realization that he has no spare clothes amidst him turning on the shower. He groans. It was just his luck that it had to rain today, hopefully one of the staff here can dry his clothes.
As he steps under the heated stream of water coming from out of the shower head, he tries to unwind by thinking about the success of his mission tomorrow. It always helps and never fails to calm him down whenever he was tense from traveling.
*The Next Day*
That morning, Principal Brimestone makes an announcement telling everyone to go down into the auditorium for an important discussion in five minutes.
Kyle was summoned by the Student Council Committee's President to join them in opening the auditorium doors, and ensuring everyone went in in an orderly fashion. He told a dazed Tweek this before getting dressed (slipping on his red and black armband) and then leaving, he wanted to contact Kenny via telepathy since he didn't return to their room last night, but Luke advised him not to bother him. He did break the guy's heart after all.
Five minutes later, a still blank-faced Tweek along with the rest of the students and staff members are all making their way to the auditorium. He still can't fathom what he was told yesterday, about him, Kyle, and Luke being in a bond, and neither does he know how to feel about it. He can't decide if he should be upset, devastated or both. Him suddenly crying yesterday was caused by the many emotions overwhelming him, however at that time, one thing was certain about his feelings: he utterly despised Luke.
Upon reaching an opened pair of dark metal doors, the massive group is stopped by the Student Council Committee. There are eight of them in total, and they were spilt into two groups of four standing off to the side of each door.
"Everyone, line up and enter through each door so you all don't overcrowd the entrance," Token Black instructs, which elicits complaints from some of the students.
"Those that have a problem with it can forget about going in," says another dark-skinned male, his arms crossed. His black hair is tied into a short-length ponytail, and his midnight blue eyes are narrowed. His name is Nicholas Daniels, his height is five foot six.
"And I know all your names too," says someone else from the Student Council Committee. He has shoulder-length light brown hair and jade green eyes. In his hands are a white notebook and pencil. "Those that don't get in will have their name jotted down, and reported to the Principal." This diligent vampire's name is Henry Turner, his height is five foot five.
"What a loser," someone grumbles.
"And you're an idiot," Henry retorts while writing down their name. He recognized the student's tone of voice even though he tried to keep his comment discreet.
"Wha-You better erase my name or else-"
"Or else what?" Interjects a vampire that also has red hair, although medium-length, and periwinkle purple-colored eyes, which are narrowed in a provoking glare at the student. He backs down with a nervous tsk. "Hmph, that's what I thought," Remi Kirby smirks, his height is five foot six as well.
The other three vampires in the Student Council Committee are Aiden Bruner, who has short auburn hair and heterochromia. His left eye is silver, and his right eye is dark red. He's the tallest among his peers, standing at five foot eight. Kou Hirachi has short and spiky black hair with the tips dyed white, and almond-shaped, icy grey eyes. He stands at five foot five as well. Lastly is Fenix Sora, the length of his dark brown hair that's also tied into a ponytail is almost as long as Kyle's, his eyes are as dark as a shadow. He's the shortest standing at five foot three.
Now that things have deescalated, everyone forms into two long lines and finally enter the auditorium. The décor inside consists of a dark red carpeted floor, and the stage's opened black curtains as well as the handles between the over one-hundred brown folding chairs.
Standing near the edge of the stage with a microphone stand in front of him is Michael, beside him on his left is Henrietta, and on his right is a man with short dark blonde hair and green apple-colored eyes. His name is Luther Ashton.
Before Tweek walks in, he sees Kyle acknowledge him with a small smile. Tweek's lips struggle to do the same, but then he remembers that Kyle is not at fault for their forcibly made bond so he returns the smile, although weakly. Once he enters the auditorium, he looks around for a row to sit in. He spots Stan, Gregory, Gary, Ike, and Pip sitting in the very center of the middle row, and decides to sit behind them. Perhaps today would be a good chance for them to talk about their escape plan.
It takes approximately ten minutes for everyone to occupy almost all of the chairs, the chatter soon quiets down when the Principal shows he's ready to speak. "As I've stated in my announcement," he starts saying only to pause when an ear-splitting screech emits from the microphone. Most wince and groan at the sound. Principal Brimestone resumes speaking once it dies down. "I've called you all here to talk about something very important. I'm sure everyone here knows about vampire hunters or at least have some knowledge about them, right?"
Murmurs of dubious bewilderment spark from his question while some others answer that they do know about vampire hunters. It isn't shocking that such beings existed and still do to this day, ever since the world knew about the existence of vampires. The students learned about the vampire hunters' origin in their History classes. However, it is shocking that their Principal suddenly brought them up.
Principal Brimestone silences the voices down by putting a finger up to his lips. "The reason I asked is because we," he gestures to himself, Ms. Biggle, and Mr. Ashton, "received info on a sneaky vampire hunter that's been going around killing our kind. More than fifty have been killed this month, and the bastard plans to make all of us their next target."
Before he can say any more, everyone immediately erupts into worried chatter. Questions as to what they are going to do, where the vampire hunter is currently, if the vampire hunter knows where their academy is located, and so on are all directed at the three administrators on the stage. Half of the students and teachers appear a bit too nonchalant on the matter. Wendell, who is sitting next to Brendon, questions the lack of concern on his face. He gives him a lengthy answer on that it's pointless to be fearful of one vampire hunter considering there's so many of them here, to which Wendell agrees with and feels embarrassed for being so worried. Kenny is sat beside Markus, the two of them heard Brendon's response and also agreed with him.
"Seriously?" Stan mutters, not sure how to feel about this information. Would they be spared or- "Wait a minute..." An idea pops into Stan's head. Smiling elatedly, he tells his four friends to meet up in his and Gary's room after classes under the commotion.
"Why are you smiling for?" Ike asks him.
"You'll know later," is all Stan says.
"Everyone, quiet down," Principal Brimestone calmly orders. But no one does as told until...-
"Quiet so he can finish!" Complete and utter silence follows, save for the pounding rain.
"Thank you, Henrietta." The woman just nods as she crosses her arms underneath her chest. "There will be another meeting, but only for the teachers and staff after dinner where we will discuss this further, and in more detail. If none of the students have any questions," mint-green eyes glance at the five humans. "Then you're all dismissed." The Student Council Committee takes this as their cue to reopen the doors. "First period has been extended for an additional ten minutes, the rest of the classes will flow as per usual."
Only Christophe grumbles about attending the meeting later on, Damien finding his irritation humorous as everyone stands up from their seats and exit the auditorium, once again in two neat lines.
Tweek makes sure to stand in the line Stan and the others go in. After hearing Stan tell his friends to meet in his and Gary's room later on, Tweek knew instantly what it was they were going to talk about, and is now determined to confront them. However, he won't do it now even though he really wants to, and it's the perfect chance to do so, he can't afford to be late to Mr. DeLorne's class seeing that the man is in a bad mood. He'll make sure to get an answer as soon as fourth period ends, from Pip.
