Welcome to my Avatar Fan Fiction! I know that this isn't the Pokémon chapter that you guy's were hoping for, but I have a reason for this. I have decided to focus on and write other stories while I work on Pokémon, and I wondered what else I should write about. Then I remembered this show and how amazing it was, I'm actually re watching it in my free time! So that is why I wanted to do my own story on one of the most infamous character's in villain history. But don't expect this story to be as updated as my other story.
This story is going to be focusing on Azula, and why I think would have happened if she had left with Ursa. I appreciate you coming all the way here to read, and I will occasionally come back to fix any mistakes. If you really don't like this story, then you know the way out. So here we go! Also, expect a much more powerful Team Avatar and Azula.
Disclaimer: I do not own Nickelodeon, which means I do not own Avatar. All rights go to owners, and I recommend this masterpiece of a show.
Welcome to the first chapter of 'I Love you, Azula'!
I Love You, Azula:
Chapter 1:
Leaving The Fire Nation Capital
"My own Mother... thought I was a monster."
-Azula
The full moon shined bright over the Fire Nation archipelago. The entire nation was known to be the most powerful in the world as of right now, but that wasn't true as of right now. The entire nation was currently in a deep sleep as the sun was no longer in the sky, only so many people were up at this time. However, there was something important happening right now.
And it was happening at the Fire Nation's Capital.
The Capital was surrounded by large, jagged mountains. The Capital was known as the most magnificent and important place within the entire Fire Nation, and there was a good reason for that. Within the direct center of the Capital was the Fire Nation's royal palace, the home of the royal family. This palace was the definition of exquisite, and one of the most oldest living location within this world.
In one of the many rooms of this palace was a woman who was sitting at a wooden desk, mixing something up in a small bowl. The girl was truly beautiful, even if her small scowl didn't reflect that. She was currently wearing dark red royal garments that had a golden trim, wearing simple black boots as well. She had yellow eyes and a royal headpiece on her long, straight brown hair. Someone also appeared to be watching her, but she didn't around to look.
She was Ursa, the current Princess of the Fire Nation.
Ursa had finished mixing up the concoction as she poured the odorless liquid into a small glass vile. She stood up and looked at the person behind her with an emotionless face, presenting the vile to him. "Here. This is the poison that I promised."
The person walked into the moon light, revealing that it was a man. He gently took the vile from Ursa as he looked at the white liquid inside it. He saw that the poison was colorless and odorless, just like how Ursa promised him it would be. thought went through his mind as he knew exactly what he was going to do with this. This was going to be the way that he would claim the throne to the Fire Nation.
This was how he was going to kill his own father, Azulon.
The man gave a dark smile. "Who would've thought that someone like you could do something so treasonist."
The man's body was very muscular and his face was quite toned and handsome. His eyes were also yellow as well, but his long hair and beard were a dark black. He also wore royal garments as well, but the headpiece that he had on was shaped differently than Ursa's. There just seemed to be this evil within him that seemed to leak out, and he was also one of the best Firebender's in the entire Nation.
This was Prince Ozai, the second son of Fire Lord Azulon.
Ursa looked at her twisted husband with a serious face. "So, when shall I leave this palace."
"Tonight." Was the simple answer that Ozai gave as he looked at Ursa, knowing the deal that they have just made. "I will personally prepare a boat for you, and you will no longer be part of the royal family."
Ursa watched as the soon to be Fire Lord went to go and sent a Messenger hawk to one of the people still working at the docks of the Capital. The poor woman was reflecting on what she just done to Azulon, a now old man that was long past his prime. She wished that this didn't happen and that the Fire Lord title wasn't this important to her husband. However, she had no choice as this was meant to protect one of her own two children.
All of this was to protect her son, Zuko.
The Princess snapped out of her thoughts as she saw Ozai come back to her, his sinister look still on his face. He gently opened the door so that Ursa could finally leave the Capital. "You are now free."
Ursa said nothing to the evil man as calmly walked out of the door, not even trying to make eye contact with him. Ozai watched as she began to slowly walk away from him in the hallway, and he decided to give her some final words.
"Remember." Ursa stopped to listen to what Ozai had to say, not even turning around. "If you try to take the children with you, or if you try to stay within this palace. Then your punishment will be death." Ozai said in a cold and cruel way. "And I will be the one to personally end you."
Ursa tried her best to not show an once of fear to the truly malevolent man. She had learn to not show that much emotion to Ozai's threats, but she was still scared of them deep down. Because she knew that Ozai would do it if he decided to. Ursa just walked began to walk away from him again as thoughts ran through her mind.
Ozai gave one final glance at the woman he once called a wife, going the opposite direction from her.
The now former Princess walked across the very dimly lit hallway. Ursa was beginning to reflect on her time here in this palace, knowing that this would be the last time here. She remembered when she was forced to marry Ozai all those years ago, and how she entered the royal family in the first place. Besides the two children that she had and Iroh, Azulon's first born, she was very miserable with her life here. She never had a desire to be part of the royal family in any way, but she knew that Ozai had complete control over her.
She was now remembering all the times that Ozai had treated his family as tools that he can dispose of whenever he wants, instead of actual people who have emotions. Anger started to build up within her as a plan had came to her, but this plan was going to be very risky. But now, she will no longer be something that Ozai can force to do whatever he wants.
Ursa will no longer blindly listen to Ozai ever again.
Before she went to Zuko's room, she stopped by the royal library to steal some scrolls. The library was quite massive in size and had two whole floors to it. It was also divided into many sections of fighting and knowledge, but the only one that Ursa was focused on was the Fire Bending section. This section was twice as big as any of the other sections.
She began to grab scrolls that contained basic, intermediate, and advanced Fire Bending techniques. Ursa mostly grabbed advanced scrolls just in case Zuko ever got to strong for basic and intermediate. As she grabbed the scrolls and placed them into an empty sack that was at this library, she stopped completely as she looked at one of the scrolls.
The scroll in her hands was for Lighting Bending, sometimes called the 'Cold-Blooded Fire'. She saw the step by step drawing of a person generating lighting from within their fingertips, and shooting out the attack with the force to knock out a Badgermole. Ursa thought about brining this with her so that her child could learn from it, but she decided to just put it back in it's place.
She didn't want her child to learn such a deadly technique.
Ursa was able to fill up her sack and quickly leave the library, completely dodging all of the still awake guards. it only took a full minute to walk to where Zuko's room was, the large door closed. Ursa was about to go inside Zuko's room to wake him up, but then stopped herself from interacting with the door. Very unsure if she should do this.
Her plan was to bring Zuko along with her so that he could be free from the chains of Ozai himself, but was that really the best choice? Was running away with his mother really going to fix anything? She knew that Zuko was always in danger from his father, much more than Azula could ever be. And that was the moment that Ursa had thought about her daughter, Azula.
Azula appeared to be someone who lacked true compassion for other people, only focused on power itself. Ursa had always seen her daughter being slowly manipulated by her husband, watching as the girl didn't realize that Ozai didn't even love her. The woman had always spend her time with the kind Zuko, never spending any of her time with her own daughter.
Ursa began to slowly realize just how much she messed up with Azula, and was beginning to realize why the girl was like that. She knew that there was no way that she could fix the past and reverse this mistake. However, there might still be a way to save her daughter from Ozai. A way for her Azula to know that Ursa still loved her, and she knew that this was going to break Ozai if she did it.
She was now going to bring Azula with her.
Ursa decided to quietly open the door to her son's room, trying not to make too much noise. The room rather big for a bedroom, and also quite barren as well. There was a large bed within the middle of the room, a small collection of books off into the corner and a banner above the bed with the Fire Nation symbol on it. Two windows were off to sides of the room and everything was in the traditional Fire Nation color. Ursa slowly walked up to the boy sleeping in the bed.
The boy sleeping on the bed appeared to be 11 years old who had his black hair tied up into a little pony tail. Zuko was wearing along gray shirt underneath a dark red vest and cuffs at the end of his sleeves. He was also wearing dark dray pants that were above his ankle, but he wasn't any kids of shows right now.
Ursa softly placed her hand on Zuko's shoulder, making the young boy open his yellow eyes. "Mom?" He mumbled in a confused way.
Ursa made Zuko sit up to look at her directly in the eye. "Zuko. Please, my love, listen to me." The mother began to tell the still half-asleep Zuko. "Everything that I've done, I've done to protect you."
The mother wrapped her hand's around her son, sadness present within her voice. Zuko had no idea what was going on around, and was still confused on why his mother was waking him up this late. Ursa knew that this would be the last time that she saw him for a long time, and she wished that she didn't have to let go of her son. A tear had almost formed in her eye.
"Remember this, Zuko." Ursa told Zuko as she made the 11 year old look at her again. "No matter how things may seem to change, never forget who you are!"
The still dazed Zuko watched as his own mother left his room, still not having the energy to even say anything back. Ursa put her hood over her head as she looked at her son for the last time, seeing the boy slowly falling back asleep. Ursa would always love her son, no matter how far apart they were.
The last thing that Zuko saw before falling back asleep was his own hooded mother gently closing the door to his room.
Ursa was still a bit saddened at having to say goodbye to her son, but she hoped that Zuko was able to understand her. Ursa was able to dodge all of the guards as she may her way to Azula's room, a location that was two whole floors above Zuko's. She was able to open the door to her daughter's room without making too much noise, and she was able to look inside.
Azula'a room was mostly similar to Zuko's room, but it wasn't as barren as her brother. On the still large bed was a 9 year old girl who also had black hair, but it was tied into a small bun with a different headpiece. She looked like a younger version of Ursa with different colored hair, also having yellow eyes as well. She was currently wearing dark brown long shirt with pants with a dark red royal vest over her shirt.
Ursa stopped right by Azula's bed and gently removed to cover from her daughter. Ursa held her breath as she slowly place both of her hand underneath her daughter and began to lift her up. The mother was careful not to use too much force on her daughter, and she was able to closely hold her to her chest. Azula began to move around in her mother's arm, but didn't open her eyes.
Ursa waited until Azula was fast asleep before she began to leave the room, still holding Azula close to her. The former member of the royal family was starting to go toward the catacombs underneath the palace, where the boat was most likely going to be. As she began to dodge any remaining guards, Ursa looked down at her young daughter.
"Don't worry, Azula." Ursa thought to herself as she gently kissed Azula's forehead. "I promise to make things right with you."
Deep underneath the palace was the royal catacombs, a labyrinth of tunnels that have existed for hundred's of years. Ursa was able to enter this place through one of the many secret doors that she had learned about from her time here. Azula was still sleeping in Ursa's arms as she quietly walked through the tunnels, making her way towards the very bottom.
The former Princess appeared in a large tunnel area that a long path of water as well. On the water was small Fire Navy ships that were entirely made out of metal and gold, seeming able to hold about 5 people inside it. Ursa knew that these were the kind of boats that were decided for the royal family in case of an emergancy, and she also saw a man on one the boats as well.
On the boat was a very muscular man named In-So and he was one of the high ranking members of the Royal servents. He wore a simple red vest with no shirt, dark brown pants with a dark piece of cloth around, and traditional Fire Nation boots. However, his most diving feature was the long scar around the left side of his face.
In-So saw that Ursa was coming up to his boat. "Greeting, Princess Ursa." In-So gave a bow to the woman as he said this. "Prince Ozai has already requested that I prepare you a boat."
"Where will this boat be taking us?" Ursa asked in a gentle way, not wanting to wake up Azula.
"Prince Ozai said that you were allowed to choose where I would take you." In-So explained to Ursa, not making any comment at the sleeping Azula in her arm's.
Ursa nodded as she stepped onto the boat, looking down to make sure that Azula was still sleeping. "Please sent a course to Hira'a." Was all that Ursa had to say as she went to where the sleeping quarters should be.
"As you wish." The man then left to go towards the control room of this ship, ready to leave the catacombs.
Ursa was able to place the still asleep Azula into the small, but still nice bed that was on the ship. The mother was able to remove a piece of hair that was out of place on Azula's head, wanting to make sure that it didn't get in the way. Ursa felt the boat began to move away from the rocky edge and she decided to go outside, leaving her daughter alone with a thick blanket over her.
The former Princess watched on as they began to leave the catacombs until they eventually made it outside, seeing the bright stars and moon in the black sky. A nice breeze past right through Ursa as she watched as they were getting further and further away from the Capital, the place that she and her daughter have been in for so long.
Ursa felt relived that she had finally left the life that she had never asked for, but there was also sadness as well. Although the palace was something that she no interest in, it was still her home in some way. Ursa knew that she had to make things right with Azula in order to save her daughter, but she was also praying to the spirits that her Zuko wasn't going to harmed while she was gone. Even though Ursa was still trying to think about what would happen once they reached Hira'a, she knew that one thing was certain.
That this decision was going to change everything.
