Episode 3
"Kissing Strangers"
SCENE 1: DEGRASSI (HALLWAYS). MORNING
Jordan is standing at his locker talking to Ivy until she makes her exit. Jack walks over to Jordan with a confused look on his face.
Jack (puzzled): Since when did you and Ivy Armstrong become friends?
Jordan: A few weeks now. We're working on a project together. You have been missing.
The two begin to make their way down the hallway. Alicia walks into Degrassi. Jack attention instantly shifts to her. Jack has never noticed Alicia the way he sees her now. She has this confidence exuding from her. She is finally growing into a young woman.
Alicia approaches her friend's with a smile on her face. Jack is speechless as he gawks over Alicia. She is wearing a crop top sweater and ripped jeans with heels. Alicia for the past two years has always worn clothes that hide her body, but this year she wanted to show she was more than a nerd or just one of the boys. She wanted people to see her as a young woman.
Alicia: Hey guys!
Jack (awkwardly): You look different.
Alicia: You think so…I haven't really noticed. I guess I am finally growing into my look.
She shrugs her shoulders and proceeds to strut down the hall.
Jack: You don't think she looks different.
Jordan (chuckling): No.
Jordan makes his exit as Jack stands there looking down the hall. He snaps back to reality and slowly walks off following behind Jordan.
OPENING CREDITS
SCENE 2: DEGRASSI (CAFETERIA). AFTERNOON
Jordan is standing at the counter waiting for his food. Amina walks into the café where she begins to talk to one of the workers showing them a flyer. Jordan grabs his tray and makes his way towards a table. He notices that Amina is posting a flyer for an LGBTQ mixer.
She turns around to see that Jordan is interested in the flyer although Jordan quickly tries to avoid being caught looking at the posting.
Amina: Are you going to come?
Jordan: I'm…I'm not…That's not my type of party.
Amina: Aren't you gay? This is a fun way to meet people. You should try being around other gay students.
Jordan: Thanks. I'll think about it.
Amina proceeds to head to the next bulletin board to post another flyer. Jordan walks over to a table where Ivy and Alicia are seated.
Ivy: What was that all about.
Jordan: She was just telling me about some party to meet other gay students.
Alicia: Sounds like it might be fun. You should definitely go.
Ivy: Can we get this interview started? Lunch is almost over.
Alicia nods her head and pulls out her notebook.
Alicia: Right. I wanted to interview you two today because of the upcoming fashion show that you are putting on. Can you tell me about how the idea came to be?
Ivy begins to speak as Alicia intently listens and takes notes.
SCENE 3: DEGRASSI (MUSIC ROOM). AFTERNOON
Levi is staring out the window in a deep thought. Brandon walks into the class. The two exchange an awkward glance.
Brandon: I can leave if you want me too.
Levi repositions herself to make eye contact with Brandon.
Levi: You don't have to leave.
Brandon makes his way to the keyboard. He takes out a notepad and hovers his fingers over the keys. Levi interested is peaked as Brandon begins to play a soft melody. Levi can't help herself as she nods in enjoyment of the sound. Brandon stops with a frustrated look.
Brandon: I can never figure out that note.
Levi moves closer to Brandon. She looks at his notes and begins to play a few different keys. Brandon begins to smile.
Brandon: We always have been able to make good music together.
Levi places a fake smile on her face as she steps away.
Levi: How about we start a band? You said it yourself despite you cheating on me it is about the music.
A smile comes across Brandon smile.
Brandon: Ivy won't be mad that you're working with me?
Levi: Ivy is expanding her social circle and so should I. This is something I want to do. I don't need her approval.
Brandon: If that's the case and you're sure then I'm in.
Levi smiles feeling happy for the first time in a long time.
SCENE 4: ABOVE THE DOT. LATE EVENING
Spinner is moving boxes around clearing space. Amina is standing there bossing people around as they begin to hang decorations around. Jack and Jordan enter the room to see how lively the venue is becoming.
Jordan: I didn't even know that this place was here.
Jack: It's used to be a club for teenagers, but when the Dot got renovated it stopped being used. Spinner thought this would be a good way to earn some extra income for the new baby.
Spinner walks over to the two and asks Jack for help. Amina notices Jordan standing alone and makes her way over.
Amina: Have you given any more thought about coming tonight?
Jordan: I don't really do parties.
Amina: You can't really move on if you don't try.
Amina makes her exit leaving Jordan with something to think about.
SCENE 5: ABOVE THE DOT. NIGHT
Jordan walks into the teenage club with Alicia at his side. They look around to see the venue crowded with students from Degrassi for the most part.Hundreds of conversations told in loud voices, all of them opposing the music that dominates the atmosphere.
They begin to make their way across the dark and barely lit club. Ivy is seen dancing until she notices her friends and runs up to them.
Ivy (loudly): This party is amazing!
Jordan (loudly): What are you doing here?
Ivy (loudly): Levi said she started a band. I wanted to see her perform.
Alicia taps Jordan to let him know she is going to the drink table. Alicia slowly makes her exit trying to navigate through the crowd. As she approaches the drink table she is meet their by Jack with a smile on his face.
Jack: I didn't know you were coming tonight.
Alicia: Yeah. I'm here for Jordan. He needed to get out and meet new people.
Jack: We can all hang out since we're all here. I'll just go get Decker.
Alicia: He just needs space, Jack. I mean I was able to get over my crush, but Jordan hasn't and honestly, I don't think he will unless he get's some space from you. Sorry.
Alicia takes a couple bottles of water from the table and makes her way back into the crowd. Jack stands in disappointment in learning his best friends didn't want to hang out with him.
Jordan is finally letting go and having fun until he bumps into someone. Jordan turns around and sees Nolan Berry standing there with a smile.
Jordan (speechless): You're... You're Nolan Berry. I watch you on Hastygram all the time. Your videos are hilarious.
Nolan: Yeah I heard about this party for the LGBTQ community and I had to be here. It's so hard finding a support system and other people like me.
Jordan (surprised): Wait your g…
Nolan: Nolan Berry is gay.
Nolan smiles at Jordan flirtatiously as he makes his exit. Alicia and Ivy shrieks in excitement.
Ivy: He was definitely flirting with you.
Jordan: No he wasn't!
Jordan looks away to see Nolan looking over at him. The two lock eyes.
SCENE 6: THE DOT (CURB). NIGHT
Levi is standing outside the Dot waiting with irritation. Brandon approaches with his guitar on his back.
Levi (annoyed): This is our first performance and you're late.
Brandon: We're the main attraction. Don't worry.
Levi: I'm not doing this if you are not going to be serious.
Brandon: I am serious. I promise.
Levi smiles as she makes her way around to enter Above the Dot. Brandon follows behind her.
SCENE 7: ABOVE THE DOT. NIGHT
Amina walks onto the stage with a microphone in her hand. She looks out to the crowd who slowly stops dancing to pay attention.
Amina: Tonight we have the debut of Degrassi's next biggest artist. Can we give them a hand?
The crowd begins to applaud. Levi and Brandon walk onto the stage. Ivy is looking from the crowd with disappointment.
Levi: We're the Charioteers and this is our song.
Levi steps back and begins to strum her guitar as Brandon plays the keyboard. People are slowly beginning to sway enjoying the music.
SCENE 8: DEGRASSI (HALLWAYS). MORNING
Levi is entering Degrassi with the biggest smile on her face. She approaches Ivy who is gathering her things from the locker. Levi smile disappear noticing that Ivy is giving her the silent treatment. Ivy closes her locker and walks. Levi sighs and rolls her eyes as she follows behind Ivy.
Levi: I don't understand why you're so upset.
Ivy: Did you forget that Brandon is no good? He cheated on you Levs.
Levi: I didn't forget, but for the first time in a long time I did something solely for me. I don't appreciate you giving me flak for following my dreams.
Ivy: I want you to follow your dreams, but I don't want you to get hurt.
Levi pauses becoming annoyed.
Levi: I do nothing, but support you with no judgment. I'm tired of this person you're becoming.
Ivy: It's called growing up Levi. Maybe if you do it you wouldn't keep making this huge mistakes.
Levi: I'm done with you.
Levi and Ivy leer at one another. Both heated and upset at the other. Ivy proceeds to leave in silence.
SCENE 9: DEGRASSI (HALLWAYS). MORNING
Jordan is walking hen he receives a notification alert. He pulls out his phone and opens OomphChat to see that Nolan Berry added him as a friend and sent a video. Jordan clicks the video.
Nolan (video): I got your OomphChat from one of your friends. I was hoping to hang out sometimes.
The video ends. Jordan looks around the hall with a smile on his face. Amina sneaks up from behind, which spooks Jordan.
Amina: Told you that the party would be fun.
Amina smiles and winks at Jordan as she turns around and continues to walk down the hall. Jordan places his phone back into his pocket. Alicia is standing at her locker. Jack and Decker pass by her. Jack steals a glance before Alicia turns around and waves at Jordan who is approaching her.
Jordan: Nolan Berry wants to hang out together.
Jack turns before anyone notices.
Decker: Are you okay?
Jack: Yeah…I'm fine.
Alicia and Jordan shriek in excitement.
Alicia: Maybe this could lead to something more.
Alicia wraps her arms around Jordan and the two proceed to walk.
