Episode 11

"A Change Will Do You Good"

SCENE 1: DEGRASSI (MAIN LOBBY). AFTERNOON

Ivy enters Degrassi. She freezes as she watches students move through the halls. She definitely wasn't ready to return to school.

Red: Welcome back.

Ivy feels a hand on her shoulder. She turns around to Red standing next to her. She puts on a phony smile.

Ivy: Thank you. You would think that two weeks I could handle being back here.

Red: It's high school. It's never easy being here, but you have me. I am here for you if you need me.

She smiles as Red takes his leave. Ivy starts to walk. She notices that students are looking and whispering.

Student: Look Bloody Mary is back.

Student: I hope she brought pads this time for the bleeding.

Ivy quickly runs into the bathroom. She enters one of the stalls and begins to cry.

OPENING CREDITS

SCENE 2: DEGRASSI (CAFETERIA). AFTERNOON

Xavier is eating at a table with the basketball team. Lily prances her way towards them and takes a seat. Xavier becomes annoyed as his teammates begin to chuckle.

Lily: Hey.

Xavier: Hey. Do you think we can hang out later?

Lily: Why not now?

Ivy enters the cafeteria. All eyes are on her. She makes her way to a table alone.

Xavier (whispering): I heard about the prank you did on Ivy. People saw her crying this morning. I don't want to hang out with a bully.

Lily looks around the table embarrassed. She grabs her things and proceeds to make her exit. Jordan takes a seat at the table with Ivy.

Jordan: You didn't tell me you were back.

Ivy: I'm starting to think it was a mistake to come back. I was covered in blood.

Jordan: It wasn't real Ivy. You can't let this get to you.

Ivy: You're right. What did I miss?

Jordan tries to ignore the question by taking a bite of his food. Ivy senses that he is hiding something.

Ivy: Spill!

Jordan: Jack and Nolan both are mad at me. Jack thinks I shouldn't be with Nolan. Nolan thinks I should keep our relationship private.

Ivy (teasingly): You two clearly like each other.

Jordan: What? No! He's my best friend. Why would you even say that?

Ivy: It is obvious. I mean just think about it. You two never like who the others dating. He didn't like Harvey and now Nolan. You especially don't like Decker.

Ivy smiles as she continues to tease Jordan.

SCENE 3: HOSPITAL. AFTERNOON

Mr. Bailey holds his daughter's hand. They both have bleak looks on their faces.

Lorraine: We knew this day would come, dad.

Mr. Baily: You're my baby girl. The thought of anything happening to you is frightening.

Lorraine gives her father a reassuring smile.

Lorraine: I made my peace with it dad. I'm happy.

Mr. Baily hugs his daughter.

SCENE 4: THE DOT. NIGHT

Spinner: Can I get you anything else?

Lily: I'm fine. Thank you.

Xavier enters the Dot. He scans the room to see Lily seated at a booth. He makes his way over to her.

Xavier: I'm sorry about the whole cafeteria thing.

Lily: People have judged me since I got to Degrassi. Everyone thinks I am a bad person, but you made me feel differently. I refuse to be judged anymore especially by you.

Xavier: I said I am sorry Lily, but you are still wrong. You are doing the exact thing that people are doing to you. Ivy did not deserve that!

Lily: Are you taking her side? I can't believe I thought you were different. We're done, Xavier.

Lily rises from her table and proceeds to walk away. Xavier stands there feeling guilty that he hurt Lily's feelings, but he knew his decision was the right one. Brandon watches in the background amused.

SCENE 5: DEGRASSI (J.T MEMORIAL). MORNING

Maxwell leads a blindfolded Lorraine into the memorial garden. He guides her to take a seat on the bench. Lorraine has a huge smile on her face not knowing what he had planned.

Lorraine (suspiciously): Can you tell me where we are now?

Maxwell (jokingly): It's a secret. I'll tell you in just a moment.

Maxwell quickly goes into his book bag and takes out a wrapped present. He kneels down on one knee in front of Lorraine.

Maxwell: Okay. You can take it off.

Lorraine shakes her head as she chuckles. She begins to take off the blindfold. She opens her eyes to see Maxwell on his knee. Her smile slowly fades confused on what is going on. Maxwell hands her the gift. Lorraine unwraps the gift and opens the box.

Inside was an expensive but stunning bracelet. Lorraine is in total shock. She looks at Maxwell who has a smile on his face.

Maxwell: Happy Anniversary. We've been together three months today.

Lorraine is speechless. Her secret is eating her up inside. She tries to speak, but the words were not coming out.

Lorraine (voice breaking): I can't do this Maxwell.

Lorraine hands the bracelet back to Maxwell. She rises from the bench. He looks at her with confusion on his face. He had so many thoughts going through his mind. Lorraine leaves.

SCENE 6: MEDIA ARTS LAB. MORNING

Brandon is walking through the halls. He notices Lily sitting at a computer inside the media lab. He enters the room and makes his way towards her. Brandon takes a seat next to her.

Brandon: I saw Xavier dump you the other day.

Lily is agitated by the comment. She turns to look at Brandon.

Lily: I broke up with him.

Brandon: I saw otherwise.

Lily rolls her eyes as she turns her attention back to her computer. Brandon smirks as he continues to gaze at her.

Brandon: Let's go out. You're kind of cute.

Lily turns to Brandon. She contemplates the offer with a smile on her face.

SCENE 7: DEGRASSI (HALLWAY). AFTERNOON

Ivy is in the hallway doing her schoolwork. Red notices her from down the hall. He takes off his book bag and slides on the ground next to her. She looks over at him and begins to smile.

Red: I'm glad that you decided to stick it out.

Ivy: I didn't want to stay, but I had to remember that I'm stronger then people think.

Red: No one here thinks you are weak. If you ask me, you are one of the strongest people here. You are the captain of the Spirit Squad and still can manage other responsibilities like a fashion show. You're amazing Ivy.

Ivy gazes into Red's green eyes. She knew it was finally the time to express her feelings. She slowly begins to lean forward towards Red. Their noses touch one another. Ivy prepares herself, but Red pulls away.

Red: I should probably get to class.

Ivy's humiliated that he didn't want to kiss her.

Ivy (awkwardly): Right. Yeah…you probably should get going. I don't want you to be late.

Red: I'm sorry.

Ivy: You don't have to apologize.

Red rises from the ground. He starts to make his way down the hall. Ivy waves as Red look over his shoulder. She tries to hold back her disappointment.

SCENE 8: DEGRASSI (CAFETERIA). AFTERNOON

Xavier enters the cafeteria to see Lily and Brandon being cozy together. The two make eye contact. Brandon begins to smirk, which makes Xavier furious. Xavier proceeds to take a seat next to his teammates.

Ivy and Jordan are eating lunch. Ivy notices Red walking into the cafeteria. Jordan turns around to see Red. Jack also enters the cafeteria. Jack navigates his way to another table.

Ivy: Are you two still not talking?

Jordan: Are you and Red still not talking?

They remained silent. They didn't want to talk about their relationships.

SCENE 9: HOSPITAL ROOM. LATE EVENING

Maxwell knocks on the door. Lorraine turns to see him standing there, which makes her upset. He walks further into the room to see all the machines she is hooked too.

Maxwell: Hey. I stopped by your house. Your dad said you had a seizure.

He takes a seat next to her bedside.

Lorraine: I didn't want you to see me like this.

Maxwell: I love you. I'm not leaving you alone to deal with this Lorraine.

Lorraine: I have an inoperable glioma. I have been through chemo and radiation. Nothing has worked. I am dying. I do not want you here when it happens.

Maxwell takes a hold of her hand.

Maxwell: I'm not leaving. I can handle this.

Lorraine: Please…Please just go…

Maxwell sees the pain and sadness in her eyes. He doesn't want to leave, but he knew he had too.
