Episode 13

"Here and Now"

SCENE 1: DEGRASSI (MAIN LOBBY). MORNING

Students have gathered around. Amina stands at the center.

Amina: I would like to be your next student council president. I am willing to stand up and be the change that Degrassi needs. Our voices have been ignored and it's time for a change.

The bell rings and students begin to disperse. Levi and Ivy make their way down the hall.

Levi: Are you going to run this year?

Ivy: I tried running twice already and lost both times. I don't want to go through that again. Plus, everyone still sees me as the bloody Mary.

Levi: I don't. I think you should run.

Ivy smiles as they continue to walk down the hall.

OPENING CREDITS

SCENE 2: DEGRASSI (HALLWAY). MORNING

Jordan and Alicia are walking down the hall. Jordan notices Alicia deep in thought. He nudges her slightly.

Jordan: Are you thinking about Jack?

They stop. She turns to him.

Alicia: Of course I am. He's sitting in the hospital paralyzed. He might never walk again.

Jordan: I fixed things with Nolan. Jack accident made me realize that communication is more important than an argument.

Jordan hugs Alicia.

Alicia: I just need something to get my mind off Jack.

The two of them notices Red standing next to Ivy at her locker. They both start to smile.

Jordan: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Alicia: Time to be matchmakers.

Alicia chuckles as she pulls on Jordan. The two run down the hall.

SCENE 3: DEGRASSI (J.T MEMORIAL). AFTERNOON

Manny is asleep on a bench. Lily walks pass. She notices Manny then makes her way inside. She hits him, which startles him.

Lily: Have you seen Brandon?

Manny: No I haven't seen your boyfriend.

Lily proceeds to walk out. Manny tries to stand, but collapses. Lily quickly runs over to Manny. He begins to seize on the ground. Lily begins to panic.

Lily: Manny! Manny!

Manny is unresponsive and skin is becoming pale. Xavier notices Lily. He rushes inside the memorial. He notices Manny on the ground.

Xavier: I think he's overdosing.

Xavier holds Manny upright.

Lily: Should I get Principal Nelson?

Brandon enters.

Brandon: What's going on?

Xavier: Lily go get help now! Brandon comes over here and help me with him.

Lily runs out of the memorial.

SCENE 4: DEGRASSI (CAFETERIA). AFTERNOON

Alicia and Jordan take a seat with Red.

Red: Hey guys.

Alicia looks at Red with a smile.

Alicia: When are you going to ask Ivy out?

Red: Ivy and I are just friends. I don't think she looks at me that way.

Jordan: Are you kidding? You two are perfect for each other.

Ivy makes her way to the table. Alicia and Jordan quickly leave.

Ivy: What was that all about?

Red: Nothing. They just had this idea…you know what its nothing.

Red looks at Ivy with a smile.

SCENE 5: DEGRASSI (MUSIC ROOM). MORNING

Lily enters the music room. She makes her way to Brandon who is passed out on the floor. She becomes worried and quickly rushes over to him.

Lily: Brandon!

Brandon slowly begins to wake up. He has a confused look on his face.

Lily: Are you high right now Brandon?

Brandon starts to laugh as he rises from the floor.

Brandon: Calm down. I just took something for my leg.

Lily: You just saw what happened to Manny the other day. He overdosed.

Brandon: I'm not Manny! Now leave me alone.

Brandon storms out of the music room.

SCENE 6: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). MORNING

Ivy enters the gymnasium. She sees the Spirit Squad holding a banner that reads, "Vote for IVY."

Levi: You've been nominated to run. You're the best candidate Ivy.

Ivy: You really think so.

Levi: Yes. You know this school. You were VP last year.

Ivy smiles at the support she is receiving from her friends.

SCENE 7: DEGRASSI (HALLWAY). AFTERNOON

School election posters are plastered all over the wall. Amina approaches Jordan.

Amina: Hey. Vote for Amina. I'm bridging the social gap in Degrassi.

Jordan takes the flyer. He sees Ivy and makes his way towards her.

Jordan: I see you decided to run.

Ivy: It took some convincing, but I think I deserve this.

Jordan: There goes Red. You should ask him out. Just go for it, Ives.

Jordan pushes Ivy forward. She makes her way to Red.

Red: Congratulation on the nomination.

Ivy: Thank you. I was wondering if you might want to go out sometime.

Amina: Hey. They're about to announce the winner.

Ivy waits for a response.

Amina: Come on Ivy!

Ivy takes the hint. She makes her way to the others.

SCENE 8: HOSPITAL. MORNING

Brandon knocks on the door. Manny looks over looking as if he exhausted.

Manny: They're taking me out of Degrassi for a while. They said I have to go to rehab.

Brandon walks further into the room.

Brandon: I'm sorry to hear that, but I was wondering if you could help me score some more pills.

Manny: Look at me, man! I'm in the hospital. I overdosed. You need to stop before things go too far.

Brandon: You're probably right. I should get going. Let you rest.

Brandon leaves out the room. Manny has a worried look on his face.

SCENE 9: THE DOT. MORNING

Ivy takes her drink from the counter. She makes her way to the door. Red stands there in silence as his eyes meet hers.

Red: Congratulation Ms. Prez.

Ivy ignores him and proceeds to exit out the Dot.

Red: I'm sorry Ivy.

Ivy makes her way down the street. Red takes a deep breath feeling as if he messed things up.
