"I Want To Hold Your Hand Part. 1"

SCENE 1: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). AFTERNOON

The students with winter-themed decorations are decorating the Degrassi gymnasium. Ivy looks around the room checking things off her list. Jordan approaches her with a smile.

Jordan: The gym is starting to come together. I think this is going to be a good Formal.

Ivy has a worried look on her face. Jordan and Ivy take a seat on the bleachers.

Jordan: Is everything okay? You don't look too thrilled about the formal.

Ivy: I'm not upset about the formal. It's just that I'm planning the best dance in Degrassi history and I'm dateless.

Jordan: I take it that Red hasn't asked you.

Ivy: I don't think he wants too. He has been so hot and cold for months.

Ivy lays her head on Jordan's shoulder.

OPENING CREDITS

SCENE 2: MASON'S HOME (LIVING ROOM). NIGHT

Emma enters the house pushing in a wheelchair-bound Jack. He notices Spinner along with Alicia and Jordan standing there waiting.

Spinner: Welcome home buddy.

Jack continues to be silent. Emma looks at Spinner with a concerned look on her face. This is the first time in 3 years that Jack has completely shut down.

Alicia: Hey Jack. We missed you.

Jack: I'm going to bed.

Jack rolls pass everyone. Alicia tries to follow behind, but Jordan stops her.

Jordan: I think we should give him space.

Jordan and Alicia make their exit. Spinner comforts Emma as she tries not to get upset.

Spinner: Jack is a strong kid Emma. He's going to make it through this.

Emma: This time just feels different Spin. We have this baby coming in a few months and Jack is going to go through intensive physical therapy if he wants to walk again.

Emma feels a sharp pain in her stomach. Spinner becomes on high alert. Emma is hit with another jolt of pain.

Emma (in pain): Spinner…I think something wrong with the baby.

Spinner helps Emma to a chair.

SCENE 3: DEGRASSI (J.T MEMORIAL). AFTERNOON

Ivy notices Red inside the memorial garden sketching. She takes a deep breath and storms inside. Red smiles as she approaches, but it disappears noticing how upset she is.

Red: Are you okay? You look upset.

Ivy: The Winter Formal is tonight and you have yet to ask me to go. You are so confusing Red. I feel like I made up this whole fantasy.

Red: Slow down Ives. I didn't ask you because I'm not going. I have to babysit Kasey.

Ivy shakes her head.

Ivy: I'm done Red. Whatever this is, I am done.

Red tries to speak, but Ivy makes her way out of the memorial.

SCENE 4: MASON'S HOME (JACK'S ROOM). EVENING

Jack is struggling to get onto his bed. Alicia appears at the threshold. She hurries to help Jack onto the bed.

Jack: I didn't need your help!

Jack pushes Alicia away.

Alicia: I know you're having a tough time right now Jack, but I'm not going anywhere.

Alicia moves back toward Jack and wraps her arms around him. This causes Jack to breakdown into tears. Alicia consoles Jack as he cries into her arms. Jack looks into Alicia's eyes. Alicia has been waiting for this moment for the past few years. The moment where he finally realizes the romantic feeling was mutual. The two lean closer pressing their lips against one another.

Alicia pulls back.

Alicia: I don't want to be your rebound. I know you're still getting over Decker.

Jack: You are not a rebound. I promise.

Alicia smiles and the two continue to kiss.

Ivy: What was that all about?

Red: Nothing. They just had this idea…you know what its nothing.

Red looks at Ivy with a smile.

SCENE 5: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). NIGHT

Students begin to enter the winter-themed gym with smiles on their faces. Ivy makes her way through the gym saddened by the face she does not have a date. Jordan and Nolan head towards her dancing.

Nolan: This dance is amazing! If this is what high school like I might have to enroll.

Jordan: Don't mind him. He doesn't go to many high school dances.

Ivy: I'm glad you two are enjoying yourselves.

Jordan: You need to cheer up. Let's go dance.

Ivy smiles as Jordan lead her to the dance floor. Nolan follows behind and the three of them dance together.

SCENE 6: DEGRASSI (HALLWAY). NIGHT

Lorraine makes her way into Degrassi. Maxwell exits out of the gym. The two lock eyes. Maxwell approaches her gazing at her beauty.

Lorraine: What are you staring at Max?

Maxwell: You look stunning Lorraine.

Maxwell takes hold of Lorraine's hands.

Maxwell: I'm glad you're doing better. I was worried.

Lorraine: I don't want you to worry about me.

Lorraine extends her hand. Maxwell smiles as the two walks into the formal together.

SCENE 7: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). NIGHT

Lily notices Brandon at the beverage table. She becomes suspicious and makes her way towards him.

Lily: Are you using drugs right now?

Brandon becomes agitated.

Brandon: I'm not, but even if I was it's none of your business. Can you just leave me alone?

Brandon tries to walk away, but Lily is following behind him.

Lily: No I can't leave you alone. I'm your girlfriend and I care about you Brandon even if you don't care about yourself. This will kill you if you don't get help.

Brandon ignores her and storms away. He goes into his pocket and takes his pills.

SCENE 8: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). NIGHT

Alicia enters the formal. She scans the room looking for her friends. She taps Levi who is walking past.

Alicia: Hey. Have you seen Jordan?

Levi: The last time I saw him he was with Ivy dancing.

Levi continues to walk. Alicia begins to navigate her way through the crowd. She finds Jordan along with Nolan and Ivy.

Jordan: Where have you been? The dance is almost over.

Alicia: I stopped by Jack's. I wanted to make sure he was okay. Emma is still in the hospital.

Jordan: Maybe I should go over there. Check on him.

Nolan smiles disappears.

Alicia: He's fine. You don't have to worry about him.

Ivy: You heard her. Let's finish having fun.

The group dance to the music.

SCENE 9: HOSPITAL. MORNING

Spinner and Emma are waiting.

Emma: They wouldn't have kept me for this long if everything was okay.

Spinner: They just want to make sure the baby is okay Emma.

Emma: Spin if anything happens I want you to keep the baby.

Spinner: Don't talk like that Emma. You and our baby will be fine.

The doctor enters the room.

Doctor: We looked at your labs. It looks like you have placental abruption as a result to your preeclampsia. Your baby is being deprived of oxygen. If you continue to carry this baby to term I'm afraid things will only get worse.

Emma: I'm not ready to have this baby Spinner. It's too early. He or she is not ready to be born.

Doctor: We will keep you here for a few more nights to monitor the baby.

The doctor makes his exit. Spinner wraps his arms around Emma comforting her.
