Episode 15

"I Want To Hold Your Hand Part. 2"

SCENE 1: HOSPITAL (ROOM). MORNING

Emma, Spinner, and the Doctor stand in the room.

Emma: An emergency C-section?

Doctor: The abruption is progressing. You and your baby health's are in jeopardy, Mrs. Mason. The uterus is no longer supplying oxygen to the baby. This is our only option at this point.

Spinner: What is the risks if we decide to wait.

Doctor: I highly recommend that you don't wait, but if you choose to refuse there could be the failure of Emma's organs. There could possibly a stillborn baby.

Emma tries to wrap her mind around everything.

Emma: Spin I made up my mind. I don't care how many times you try to convince me not to have this surgery. I am not losing this baby.

Spinner: Emma.

Emma: Let's do the C-section doc.

The doctor nods and exits out of the room.

Emma: I love you Spin, but we're going to have this baby even if it means you lose me.

Doctor: We'll get everything prepped. I will see you soon.

The doctor makes his exit. Spinner wraps his arms around Emma comforting her.

OPENING CREDITS

SCENE 2: ARMSTRONG'S HOUSE (IVY'S ROOM). AFTERNOON

Alicia storms into Ivy's room carrying several hangers with clothes on them. She lays them across the bed. Her hair still had rods in them. Ivy chuckles at Alicia.

Alicia: Your mom let me inside. I need your help.

Ivy: You are aware that you are still wearing your pajamas.

Alicia: Yes. I know. Jack and I are going on our first date today and I need help finding an outfit.

Ivy's eyes go to the outfits laid across her bed.

Ivy: Those outfits yell little sister. You need Jack to see you as a girlfriend and not a best friend.

Alicia: Are you going to help?

Ivy rolls her eyes. Alicia shrieks in excitement as she runs over to Ivy and hugs her.

Alicia: You cannot tell Jordan about this…not yet at least. I don't want to damage our friendship.

Ivy: Girl you already did that. You know Jordan has had the biggest crush on Jack.

Ivy picks up one of the outfits and holds it up against Alicia. Alicia has a nervous smile on her face.

SCENE 3: HOSPITAL (HALLWAY). AFTERNOON

Red is walking through the hall. He notices Lorraine wearing a hospital gown. He makes his way towards her.

Red: Hey. I've seen you around Degrassi. Are you okay?

Lorraine: You cannot tell anyone you saw me here.

Red: I won't.

Lorraine: Promise me.

Red: Fine! I promise.

Lorraine sighs in relief.

Lorraine: Sorry about that. I don't like people knowing I'm sick. Are you…

Red: No…No I'm not sick. My sister fell off her bike and broke her leg. They had to put a cast on it.

Lorraine: You probably should get back to her.

Red prepares to walk off.

Lorraine: By the way, you should decorate for her.

Red: Do you want to come with? Looks like you could use a friend.

Lorraine smiles and skips towards Red. The two make their way down the hall.

Red: I'm Red by the way.

Lorraine: Lorraine.

SCENE 4: HOSPITAL (ROOM). AFTERNOON

Emma wakes up. She looks over to see Spinner asleep in the chair. She begins to rub on her stomach smiling. Spinner starts to wake up.

Emma: Hey.

Spinner: Is everything okay?

Emma: Yeah. I was just thinking about Gavin. He's turning 4 in a few months. He came early, we adapted, and we both came out okay. Spin, I have to believe that this baby will be okay.

Spinner places his hands onto Emma's stomach.

Spinner: I love you so much, Emma.

Emma and Spinner share a kiss.

SCENE 5: PLAY THYME ARCADE. EVENING

Alicia and Jack enter the Arcade. Rows of machines with colorful pictures and glowing screens cover the space. Teenagers are everywhere as s squealing tires, chiming dings, and laser blasters fill the room.

Alicia: This place just opened about a week ago. Thought it would be fun to come here.

Jack: Yeah. It looks fun. It's kind of loud though.

The two browse through the aisle of games and kids cheering.

Alicia: I heard you're coming back to school. We've missed you.

Jack: I still have physical therapy. I'm not sure if I want to go back there in a wheelchair.

Alicia notices the insecurity in Jack's voice.

Alicia: This wheelchair doesn't have to define you, Jack. You're still the same person I've always known.

Jack: Let's go play some games.

Alicia nods as the two starts to play one of the games.

SCENE 6: HOSPITAL (ROOM). EVENING

Red and his little sister Kasey are eating ice cream. Lorraine is decorating Kasey's leg cast.

Lorraine: All done. Now you have a princess cast full of unicorns and tiaras.

Kasey: Thank you, Lorraine! I love it.

Lorraine makes her way to the door about to exit the room when Red approaches.

Red: Hey. I just wanted to thank you for getting us the ice cream and helping with Kasey. She really likes you.

Lorraine: I'm glad I could help. There are benefits to having an inoperable tumor.

Red: Can I help you with something? I feel like I should repay you.

Lorraine: Snow…if you could make it snow then I'll be forever in your debt.

Lorraine smiles as she exits the room.

SCENE 7: HOSPITAL (WAITING ROOM). NIGHT

Spinner is pacing back and forth in the hallway. His mind was running every possible scenario it could think of. Jack enters the hospital accompanied by Alicia. They spot Spinner pacing and quickly make their way to him.

Jack: Spin! What happened? Is Emma okay?

Spinner: They had to take her into surgery for an emergency delivery. They're trying their best to deliver the baby alive and well along with Emma.

Jack: Isn't it too early for the baby to come?

Spinner: I'm nervous just like you buddy, but we have to be strong for your sister and this baby. They need to know we have faith and that we are waiting for them.

Alicia takes Jack's hand.

Alicia: Let's go wait over there.

Jack takes a deep breath and nods his head. The two of them make their way to the seating area. The doctor appears in the distance. Jack tightens his grip on Alicia's hand as he becomes anxious.

Spinner: How's my wife doc?

Doctor: There were a few complications with the delivery. Emma went into shock due to the blood loss.

Spinner braces himself.

Doctor: We were able to manage it. Your wife and daughter are okay.

Spinner sighs in relief as tears fall from his eyes. He hugs the doctor.

Spinner: Thank you doc.

Spinner turns to look at Jack with a reassuring smile. Spinner follows the Doctor behind the double door. Jack turns and kisses Alicia. She is pleasantly surprised by the gesture.

Jack: Thank you for being here with me, Alicia. I don't know if I would have got through this without you.

SCENE 8: HOSPITAL (CAFETERIA). NIGHT

Red leads Lorraine into the empty hospital cafeteria.

Lorraine: What are we doing in here Red?

Red: Trust me. Close your eyes.

Lorraine smiles and closes her eyes. Red deems the lights. He presses a button and snow begins to fall. Lorraine smiles as she looks up to see the snow falling. She sticks out her tongue.

Red watches in amazement by her beauty and tenacity.

Lorraine: It even tastes like real snow. How did you even do all this?

Red: Like you said there are benefits to being sick.

Lorraine is moved by Red's gesture. He starts to move closer to Lorraine. The two gaze into each other eyes. They lean closer to each other and press their lips against one another. Snow continues to fall as the two kisses.

Red: I don't know how you do it. You're in so much pain right now, but you're still able to push through all that.

Lorraine: I've been sick for a long time Red. I made peace with my fate.

Lorraine goes back to tasting the snow. Red smirks at Lorraine innocence. He follows her lead and sticks his tongue out to taste the falling snow.

Lorraine: Thank you, Red for making tonight a Christmas miracle.

Red smiles. Lorraine takes a step forward but collapses onto the ground. She starts to have a seizure.

Red: Help! I need some help!

Red picks her up and carries her out the room.

SCENE 9: HOSPITAL (ROOM). NIGHT

Spinner knocks as he enters the room. He smiles as he approaches Emma and their newborn daughter.

Emma: Cristi Manuella Mason. She's named after my two best friends. My mother and Manny.

Spinner: It's a beautiful name babe.

Emma: This is your father Cristi.

Spinner kisses Emma's forehead.

Spinner: My two strong and beautiful girls.

Emma: They said I could hold her for a few minutes.

The two continue to gaze at their daughter. Spinner takes Cristi from Emma. The machines start to go off. The nurses enter the room. Spinner becomes nervous. The nurse starts to examine Emma; she flips the covers to see Emma has lost a lot of blood.

Nurse: Take him out of here.

Spinner: What's going on with Emma.

The nurses guide Spinner to the hall. They shut the door.

SCENE 10: OUTSIDE HOSPITAL. NIGHT

Red exits out of the hospital with a grim look on his face. Red notices Maxwell stepping out of a cab. He races to the hospital door, but Red grabs onto him.

Maxwell: Let me go!

Red: You're here to see Lorraine right.

This fear overcame him. Red face told Maxwell everything he needed to know. He falls down to the ground in tears. Red places his hand on his shoulders.

Red: She was at peace. I'm sure she would have wanted you to know that.

Red stands in silence trying to hold back his own feelings.
