Episode 18

"So Far to Find You"

SCENE 1: NOLAN'S BEDROOM. AFTERNOON

Nolan is sitting in front of a camera mounted on a tripod. Behind him is a black backdrop with lights positioned on the side of him. He was in the middle of a live stream. Jordan enters the room taking a sigh of relief. He doesn't notice the camera is recording. Nolan tries to interject, but Jordan starts to talk.

Jordan: Ugh! I cannot wait for this school year to be over and I can graduate. I'm so tired of Degrassi. Alicia is going through an identity crisis. Jack is trying to help her through it, but he has his own identity problems. Like is he supposed to be bisexual now?

Nolan shrugs his shoulders into the camera. He grabs the camera and makes his way over to Jordan who is lying down with his face buried in the pillow.

Nolan: Berrian's meet my boyfriend Jordan.

Jordan lifts the pillow from his face to see the camera pointing at him. He tosses the pillow at Nolan.

Jordan: Are you seriously recording us right now? Turn off the camera Nolan!

Nolan smile disappears since Jordan is upset. Nolan turns the camera towards him and places a smile on his face.

Nolan: Until next time Berrian's. This is Nolan Berry signing off.

Nolan closes the camera and places onto the dresser.

Jordan: I can't believe you just got our personal conversation on your live stream.

Nolan: I tried to warn you, but you just started talking like usual. Have it ever occurred to you that I might not want to talk about Jack and the huge crush you have on him.

Jordan: I don't have a crush on Jack.

Nolan: You lying about it doesn't make it any less true.

Jordan couldn't even think of a response. The two of them stand in silence. Nolan walks over to the door and opens it.

Nolan: I got a lot of homework to do tonight. Maybe we can hang out later.

Jordan grabs his book bag and makes his way to the door.

Jordan: I'll see you at school tomorrow then.

Jordan leans in for a kiss, but Nolan looks away. Jordan quietly exits out the room.

OPENING CREDITS

SCENE 2: DEGRASSI (CLASSROOM/HALL). MORNING

Brandon is sitting at his desk talking to a few of the other students. He notices Lily walking pass the classroom. He quickly makes his wall into the hall and grabbing Lily's arm, but she snatches away.

Brandon: Look I know I probably hurt your feelings, but I was drunk and you had to know that.

Lily: Are you seriously trying to say I took advantage of you? You said you loved me.

Brandon steps closer.

Brandon: You led me upstairs that night.

Lily: You are not going to stand there and blame me for your actions. You took my virginity. You have a drug problem!

Brandon: Quiet down before the whole school hears you.

Lily: You are a terrible person Brandon and I hate you!

Lily slaps Brandon then storms away down the hallway.

SCENE 3: DEGRASSI (HALLWAYS). AFTERNOON

Alicia enters the school with a look of despair. She makes her way to her locker. The school bell rings and the student begin to file into the hallway. Jack notices Alicia and makes his way to her. Alicia looks at Jack but doesn't speak.

Jack: This is not like you Alicia. You're coming to school late and missing class. I know you've been dealing with a lot, but this is…

Alicia slams her locker door shut and turns to Jack.

Alicia: Yeah, well I don't remember giving you the authority on how to feel. I need to get to class.

Jack tries to speak, but Alicia has already left. Jack turns with a worried look on his face. He wanted to help but didn't know what to do. He then hears a familiar voice coming from behind him. A voice that caused chills to go down his spine. He slowly turns his chair around to see Decker standing in front of him.

Jack: Why are you here Decker? I thought that you were expelled.

Decker: I see you moved on with Alicia. You two make a nice couple.

Decker notices Jack in the wheelchair and guilt overcomes him. Jack takes notices that Decker is not making eye contact.

Jack: Alicia parents lied to her and she doesn't know how to forgive them. It didn't hit me until now that I haven't been helping. She needs her space to figure out her feelings. I'm not mad at you Decker. I was at first, but I forgive you.

Decker breakdown into tears.

Decker: I'm so sorry Jack. I didn't mean for this to happen. I would never want to hurt you.

Jack: I know. I probably should get going.

Decker wipes the tears from his eyes. Jack proceeds to make his way down the hall.

SCENE 4: THE SCOTT'S HOUSE (LIVING ROOM). AFTERNOON

Alicia enters her home to see her mother and father sitting with another couple. Everyone rises from the couch when they see her coming into the living room. Shay quietly watches from the stairs.

Mrs. Scott: We know things have been a little confusing since you found out that you're adopted.

Mr. Scott: These are your birthparents Mr. and Mrs. Evens.

Mrs. Evens extends her hands as tears fall from her face.

Sierra Evens: You can call me Sierra. This is my husband Ned.

Alicia smiles and shakes their hands. They all take a seat on the couch.

Ned Evens: Your parents were just telling us that you reestablished your school newspaper.

Alicia: I did. I am the Editor of the Degrassi Grapevine.

Ned Evens: I actually ran my school newspaper as well both in high school and college. I got my degree in Journalism.

Mrs. Scott: I think you three should have a few minutes to get acquainted.

Alicia glances over to her parents with a smile. Mr. and Mrs. Scott proceed to exit out of the room. They see Alicia engaged in conversation with the Evens. This moment was bittersweet to see.

SCENE 5: ABOVE THE DOT. NIGHT

Nolan is standing next to the DJ watching everyone dance and enjoy the party. Nolan's eyes go towards the entrance where he notices Jordan entering the venue. This causes him to smile, but he sees Harvey making his way to Jordan.

Nolan hops off the stage and navigates his way through the crowd. He taps on Harvey's shoulder then punches him as Harvey turns around. Everyone pulls out their phone and begin to record Nolan losing his temper. Jordan pushes Nolan off Harvey.

Jordan: This is not okay!

Jordan takes Harvey's hand and leads him away.

SCENE 6: OUTSIDE ABOVE THE DOT. NIGHT (MOMENTS LATER)

Harvey is sitting on the stairs while Jordan is wiping the blood from his nose.

Harvey: Is everything okay between you two? We might be exes, but we can still be friends and you can talk to me about anything Jordan. I hope you know that.

Jordan: I know, but I think I should talk to Nolan. I think I've been talking to everyone, but him.

Nolan appears at the top of the stairs. Harvey smiles and rises from the step. He gives Jordan a hug and proceeds to enter back into Above the Dot. Jordan takes a seat on the stairs as Nolan makes his way next to him.

Nolan: I just wanted to start by apologizing to you. I know how you feel about violence and anger especially after everything Jack went through. I would never put my hands on you Jor.

Jordan: I know. It's hard being the boyfriend of a social media influencer. I feel like I'm boring compared to what you're use to. And that your followers are more important to you than me.

Nolan: You are far from boring Jor. I transferred to Degrassi to be with you. You are the most important person to me not my Berrians.

The two begin to chuckle. Nolan leans in and kisses Jordan. Jordan smiles and lays his head onto Nolan's shoulder.

Nolan: I don't want you to feel like you cannot talk to me. Even when it comes to your crush on Jack. You can talk to me about anything.

Jordan raises his head and looks into Nolan's eyes.

SCENE 7: DEGRASSI (CLASSROOM). MORNING

Jaylin is handing out papers. Brandon receives his and nervously twitches as he looks at his quiz. He felt like the words on the paper were floating off the page.

Jaylin: You have 40 minutes to complete the quiz.

Brandon looks around the room as other students begin to take the quiz. He wipes the sweat from his forehead as he begins to get hotter. Levi looks over to notice his nervousness.

Levi (whispering): Are you okay? You don't look too good.

Emma makes her way into the classroom.

Jaylin: Principal Nelson how can I help you.

The students look up from the quiz to see Emma in front of the class. Two officers stand at the door. Emma whispers into Jaylin's ear. Jaylin's eyes go to Brandon.

Jaylin: Brandon Jones. Can you step outside with Principal Nelson?

Levi looks at Brandon as he stands from the desk and makes his way into the hall.

SCENE 8: DEGRASSI (HALLWAYS). AFTERNOON

Students begin to gather in the hall. They are watching as the officers are searching lockers. Ivy and Jordan approach Levi who is looking from a distance.

Ivy: Are they still here?

Levi: They have been here since this morning. I haven't seen Brandon since Principal Nelson escorted him out of class.

Jordan: I wonder what they're looking for.

Brandon storms out of the office. He notices Lily standing in the hall. He storms over to her with anger in his eyes.

Brandon: You told the principal I'm on drugs!

Lily: I'm worried about you Brandon. I did this to get you the help that you need.

Brandon: No you did this because you're an evil and hateful slut that had to seduce a drunken guy to sleep with her.

Xavier walks out of the classroom to see Lily becoming upset. He steps in front of Brandon pushing him back.

Xavier: Back off man.

Brandon: Keep your girlfriend away from me.

Brandon storms away. Lily runs into Xavier's arms and begins to cry.

SCENE 9: THE DOT. AFTERNOON

Levi enters the Dot to see Brandon seated at one of the tables. She makes her way over to him.

Brandon: Leave me alone!

Levi takes a seat beside him.

Levi: I don't know what's going on with you, but I'm not leaving you alone. I heard that you're suspended. They are saying you're on drugs.

Brandon: I'm not on drugs. I just took a few pills to help get my leg back healthy.

Levi shakes her head.

Levi: I'm not saying what you did is right, but I understand. When I lost my daughter, I tried so hard to get back into a normal routine, but no matter how hard I tried I needed the time to grieve and heal. You shouldn't rush the process. Basketball is not going anywhere Brandon. Use the next few days to get yourself clean before you get in more trouble.

Levi rises from the table to walk away as Brandon sits on Levi advice.

SCENE 10: OUTSIDE. AFTERNOON

Alicia is taking a walk with Sierra. The two decides to take a break and have a seat on a nearby bench.

Sierra Evens: It's been so good getting to know. I can't believe I have to leave you again. I hope we can stay in touch this time.

Alicia: This time?

Sierra Evens: I guess your parents didn't tell you.

Alicia: Tell me what?

Sierra: Ned and I could not financially support a child when you were born. It didn't help that we were in college. After your first birthday, we made the hard choice to give you up for adoption. We regretted that decision as soon as we did it and we reached out to your parents. They loved you and we knew that you should be with them, but we still wanted to be a part of your life and help in any way. Unfortunately, they denied us of that.

Alicia is taken by surprise.

Alicia: Are you telling me that my parents prevented you from being in my life?

Alicia rises from the bench and storms away. Sierra tries to stop her, but Alicia takes off running.

SCENE 11: DEGRASSI ENTRANCE. AFTERNOON

Alicia is sitting on the steps of Degrassi in deep thought. In the background, Jack exits out of the building to see her sitting there zoned out. He rolls down the ramp and makes his way around to where she was. He places the breaks on his chair in front of the steps. Alicia notices him and makes her way down the steps.

Jack: I've been looking for you. You disappeared yesterday. Were you able to talk to your parents?

Alicia: They just told me more lies. The last sixteen years of my life could have been less complicated, but no, they decided to keep secrets.

Jack takes ahold of her Alicia and gives her a reassuring smile.

Jack: I know you're going to get through this. You are one of the strongest people I know.

This caused Alicia to smile. She places her hand on Jack's face leaning in to kiss him.

Alicia: You are the best boyfriend Jack. I don't know if I could go through this without you.

The two share another kiss.
