Episode 22

"For The First Time"

SCENE 1: MALL (DRESSING ROOM). AFTERNOON

Ivy slowly exits out the dressing room wearing a beautiful peach floor-length dress with a sequin that covers the dress from top to bottom flaring out into a mermaid skirt. She steps into the mirror gazing at the dress of her dreams. Alicia steps out of the dressing room across from her in a yellow strapless gown. She appears next to Ivy.

Alicia: You look amazing Ivy.

Ivy smiles as she notices Alicia gown.

Ivy: You look amazing yourself. Jack is going to die when he sees you.

Alicia smile disappears as she takes a seat on the bench. Ivy takes a seat next to her.

Ivy: Are you two still not talking?

Alicia: He doesn't love me, Ivy. I love Jack…I do love him, but I feel like he just sees me as one of his friends.

Ivy: Jack has been through a lot this year. He had to deal with his relationship with Decker, losing his ability to walk, and had to deal with not graduating this year.

Alicia: Maybe you're right. Maybe I should just talk to him.

Ivy rises from the bench.

Ivy: Let's get out of here and plan the best Degrassi Prom.

Alicia steps closer to Ivy and hugs her. The two girls step back into their dressing room.

OPENING CREDITS

SCENE 2: DEGRASSI (STUDENT LOUNGE). MORNING

Red enters the lounge where Ivy is working. He kisses her cheek, but she moves away.

Red: Your upset. What did I do wrong?

Ivy rises and proceeds to leave out the lounge. Red takes a deep sigh and follows her down the hall.

Ivy: Prom is in a few days and you haven't asked me to go. Do you even know what color my dress is?

Red grabs Ivy. The two of them take a seat

Red: I didn't bring it up because I knew you would be upset…but, I'm not going to prom. It's just not my scene.

Ivy pulls away as she tries to process the news.

Ivy: I just wanted my senior year to be perfect. I wanted my boyfriend to see all the work I've been putting into this night.

Red: I'm just not the prom type of guy, Ivy. How about we stay in and watch a movie at my house.

Ivy: I can't miss prom. I'm the student council president, Red. I also have that representative from FabDesigns coming.

Ivy shakes her head in disappointment and proceeds to storm off.

SCENE 3: MASON'S HOUSE (LIVING ROOM). NIGHT

Emma is taking pictures of Nolan, Jordan, and Alicia. Jack makes his way down the stairs without his crutches surprising everyone. Emma emotions get the best of her and tears start to run down her face.

Nolan notices Jordan smile widen at the sight of Jack. Jack makes his ways towards Alicia.

Jack: I told you I would dance with you.

Alicia smiles as she leans in to kiss Jack and wraps her arms around him.

Emma: I'll be right back. Need to change the battery for my camera.

Spinner: You guys probably should get going before Emma wants to talk more pictures.

Jack hugs Spinner before proceeding to take ahold of Alicia's hand leaving out. Emma returns with her camera to see that the teens have left.

Spinner: Would you go to prom with me Mrs. Nelson – Mason?

Emma moves closer to Spinner and the two share a kiss.

Emma: Of course Mr. Mason.

Spinner kisses Emma on the cheek as he grabs her jacket. The two proceeds to exit out of the house.

SCENE 4: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). AFTERNOON

The Degrassi Gymnasium has been transformed into a fantasy wonderland filled with aerial dancers, ballet-dancing servers, a dance floor that also serves as a runway, and display casings with models dancing dressed in Ivy's designs. Music begins to fill the room as students begin entering.

Ivy: Welcome to Fashionland.

Ivy watches with a smile as couples are dancing and enjoying themselves.

Mysterious Voice: You look stunning Ivy.

Ivy smiles as she begins to turn around to see Dev standing behind her. She is surprised not expecting it to be him.

Ivy: Dev? What are you doing here?

The two share a hug.

Dev: I'm home for the summer. Principal Nelson said she could use more chaperones, so I decided to volunteer.

Dev notices that Ivy is by herself.

Dev: Are you here alone?

Ivy: Yeah I am. My boyfriend doesn't like the idea of the prom. So he decided not to come.

Dev smiles as he gazes into Ivy's eyes.

Dev: Well he should know he missed out.

Ivy: Thank you.

Dev: I should go chaperone. You did a good job Iv.

Dev makes his way across the room. A smile comes across her face as Dev turns around to steal another glance.

SCENE 5: DEGRASSI (MAIN FOYER). NIGHT

Harriet is seating at a table in the middle of the hallway. She is gathering tickets from incoming students. Amina approaches and takes a seat beside her. Harriet rolls her eyes as she puts on a fake smile.

Amina: Trust me I would prefer to be anywhere but here, but I still have detention until the end of the school year.

Harriet: I don't care. Just collect the tickets and hopefully, this will all be over soon.

Amina: Right. Silence.

Levi and Manny enter Degrassi smiling. Levi fixes Manny's tuxedo blazer as he leans in for a kiss, but Levi moves away smiling. They proceed to the table and hands over their tickets.

Amina: You two seem friendly.

Amina takes the tickets from them. Levi smiles as she takes Manny hand making their way to the gym.

SCENE 6: DEGRASSI (GYMNASIUM). NIGHT

Jack, Jordan, Alicia, and Nolan enter the gym to see everyone enjoying the prom.

Nolan: I'll go get us some drinks.

Jack and Alicia move onto the dance floor. The music shifts into a slow and intimate song. Couples being to pair off slow dancing. Nolan follows Jordan gazes to see him once again paying attention to Jack.

Alicia lays her head on Jack's chest as the two dances.

Alicia: This has been one of the best nights of my life.

Jack: I just want to say thank you.

Alicia: For what?

Jack: Just for being you and making this year a lot better.

Ivy is standing alone when she feels a tap on her shoulder. She turns around to see Red dressed in a tuxedo.

Ivy: I thought you didn't do proms.

Red: I don't, but my girlfriend does and this is an important night for you.

Ivy wraps her arms around Red as they begin to dance. Jordan notices Nolan exiting the gym upset.

SCENE 7: DEGRASSI (HALL). NIGHT

Nolan enters the hall. Jordan steps out trailing behind him.

Jordan: Nolan!

Nolan ignores Jordan call.

Jordan: Nolan! Can you stop walking away?

Nolan stops and takes a deep breath trying to calm himself.

Jordan: You just left and didn't say anything.

Nolan (voice breaking): Do you think it is easy watching the person I love to be in love with someone else?

Jordan: Please do not start this again Nolan. Jack is my best friend!

Nolan: You can say that all you want, but it doesn't change the fact you in love with him. I tried to ignore it, but I can't anymore Jordan.

Jack appears in the hall. Nolan throws his hands up as he turns around trying to hide his frustration.

Jack: Is everything okay? I saw you two leave the gym.

Jordan (sniffling): Hey Jack. Now is not the time.

Jack senses the mood and proceeds to step back into the gym.

Jordan: What are you saying, Nolan.

Nolan: I changed my life for you Jordan. I tried to be the best boyfriend, but you need to figure out your feelings for Jack.

The two become silent. Nolan slowly begins to make his way down the hall.

SCENE 8: DEGRASSI (STUDENT LOUNGE). NIGHT

Amina and Harriet enter the student lounge. Harriet places a box onto the desk. Harriet tries to storm out, but Amina steps in front of her.

Amina: What is your problem!

Harriet: You're my problem. Your lifestyle is my problem. Being gay is a sin.

Amina: You are so frustrating! You have no right to judge me.

Amina storms over to Harriet kissing her. Harriet is taken by surprise and steps back. The room is filled with silence.

Harriet: Stay away from me.

Amina smiles as Harriet brushes past her.

SCENE 9: FRONT OF DEGRASSI. MORNING

Ivy crosses the street where she stands in front of Degrassi reminiscing about the last four years. Levi approaches and stands beside her.

Ivy: Can you believe it's almost over?

Levi: The last four years have been a whirlwind, but I don't think I would have been able to get through it without you.

A tear rolls down Ivy's face as she burst out into laughter.

Ivy: I can't believe I'm so emotional right now. Levi, I know I've been saying this a lot, but I'm so sorry that I haven't been there for you. I feel like the worst friend ever.

Levi: It's called growing up Ivy. Sometimes friendships go through rough patches, but you are still my best friend.

Levi wraps her arms around Ivy and embraces her. They lock arms and run inside of the school.

SCENE 10: DEGRASSI (STUDENT LOUNGE). MORNING

Red knocks on the window.

Ivy: I got the FabDesign internship!

Ivy runs into Red arms.

Red: Wow! I'm so proud of you.

Jordan enters the lounge with red eyes. Ivy senses that he's upset.

Jordan: It's over. Nolan broke up with me.

Ivy rushes over and consoles Jordan.

CLOSING CREDITS
