Episode 2

"Save Your Heart For Me"

Scene 1: Degrassi (Athletic Field). Morning

A crowd of students, parents, and media gather as Emma approaches a podium.

Emma: Good Morning Panthers. I am excited to show off just how much our great Degrassi is expanding. This is the grand opening of the Degrassi Athletic Field. This field includes a football/track and field stadium.

Emma cuts the ribbon to the field. Alicia steps to the front of the crowd.

Alicia: I am the student council president Alicia Scott. I'll be showing you around the stadium. I also want to welcome our new Grade 9 students to Degrassi.

The crowd begins to enter the stadium. The football team is training, nearby Lily is leading the cheerleaders. Xavier runs pass the cheerleaders. He gives Lily a flirtatious wink with a smile.

Cheerleaders: Degrassi…Degrassi we are here! Degrassi! Degrassi! Hear our cheer!

Alicia walks over to the team.

Alicia: Here we have the Degrassi Spirit Squad.

Lily: No. The Spirit Squad is no more. We are the Power Squad now. It's out with the old and in with the new this year.

In the crowd, Kenzie turns to Marcel.

Kenzie: I can't wait to be apart of that team.

Alicia turns her attention back to the crowd and leads them away.

OPENING CREDITS

Scene 2: Degrassi (Halls). Morning

Carina enters the school with nervousness written across her face. She enters the halls checking each door as she looks at a sheet of paper. She tries to get help from nearby students, but they ignore her. She continues to make her way down the hall becoming flustered passing Isaiah at his locker.

He notices her and turns his head with a smile.

Isaiah: Hey. You lost.

The two lock eyes in silence for a moment. Carina snaps out of it and looks at her schedule.

Carina: Um, yeah. I actually am. I am looking for Mr. Wright's English class.

Isaiah: I think it up ahead on the right.

Carina: Thank you. I'm Carina by the way.

She extends her hands. Isaiah chuckles at her formality. He shakes her hand.

Isaiah: Isaiah.

Carina: I should get to class before the bell rings.

Isaiah: Good luck. I hope you find the rest of your classes.

Carina smiles as she proceeds to make her way down the hall. Carina looks back at Isaiah who is smiling. He's clearly interested in her.

Scene 3: Degrassi (Classroom). Morning

Jack enters the classroom. He spots a seat open next to Alicia.

Jack: Is it weird that we're classmates now.

Alicia: Is it weird that I'm best friends with my ex-boyfriend?

Alicia notices that Jack mood shifted.

Alicia: It's a joke. I'm sorry. I guess I'm just a little on edge.

Jack: Did you tell your parents?

The teacher enters the room.

Scene 4: Degrassi (Cafeteria). Afternoon

Decker enters the cafeteria. All eyes turn on him. Carina carries her tray and takes a seat with Marcel and Kenzie.

Carina: Do you know why everyone is staring at the student?

Isaiah takes a seat with the group.

Kenzie: I'm not the one to gossip, but I heard he put his boyfriend into the hospital last year.

Isaiah: How did you hear that already? We've only been at Degrassi for a few hours.

Kenzie: I have my sources.

Marcel: So he's a bad boy. I think I'm in love.

Carina: You don't even know him. Plus he sounds dangerous.

Alicia and Jack watches from another table as Decker takes a seat by himself.

Alicia: Did you know he was coming back?

Jack: Emma mentioned it, but it's still kind of weird seeing him back here.

Decker begins to eat his lunch. Manny takes a seat across from him.

Decker: Are you sure, you want to seat here?

Manny: We all make mistakes man. Look at me…I went to rehab at 16.

Decker laughs, which causes Manny to laugh.

Scene 5: The Dot. Late Evening

Jordan and Jack are talking at the counter. Jack grabs the two drinks in front of him. Jordan leans over the counter to kiss Jack. Nolan and Amina enter catching the end of the kiss. Jack makes his way to the table with his friends.

Nolan approaches the counter.

Amina: I'll go grab us a table.

Jordan: What can I get you to drink?

Nolan: I glad you two are happy.

Jordan: Thank you. Look Nolan, I hope we can still be friends.

Nolan: Of course. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Nolan puts on a fake smile.

Scene 6: Degrassi (Classroom). Morning

Jaylin: Who do you strive to be? That is the question I wanted each of you to ask yourself.

Decker slowly tries to sneak into the classroom.

Jaylin: ! Thank you for joining us. How about you kick off our presentations.

Decker spots Jack in the classroom. He sighs and proceeds to the front of the classroom.

Decker: The question is who do I strive to be. The answer isn't clear. I strive to be many things, but most importantly, I strive to be a better person. Because I hurt the person who meant…

Decker looks away from his paper. His eyes meet Jack as if they were the only two in the room.

Decker: I strive to prove that I'm better then I was. I want to be the person I was with them. The person that they saw and knew I could be. I do not strive for one thing.

Jaylin applauds Decker. He signals him to have a seat. Decker maneuvers his way to his desk. Jaylin calls the next student up to present. Decker steals one last glance at Jack.

Scene 7: Degrassi (Gymnasium). Afternoon

Lily is leading the Power Squad tryouts. Kenzie has a smile as she follows the chorography. Shay is also seen trying out with the others. The music stops. The girls disperse to take a break. Lily approaches Shay who is drinking from her water bottle.

Lily: What bring you back to Degrassi?

Shay: I wanted to finish my senior year with my friends. Plus, I didn't do anything wrong to be expelled in the first place. We both know that.

Lily: What does that means?

Shay: I should probably head home.

Lily: Alright! Ladies gather around. Power Squad roster will be posted in the main foyer by the end of the day.

Kenzie approaches Lily.

Kenzie: Hey Lily. I just wanted to know if I did a good job?

Lily: Lunch is over and I need to get to class. Have a good day Niner.

Lily proceeds to exit the gym.

Scene 8: Degrassi (Front Steps). Afternoon

Jack exits out of Degrassi. Decker is making his way down the street. Jack takes a deep breath and sprint towards him.

Jack: Decker…Hey.

Decker: What's up Jack? Are you sure you want to be seen with me.

Jack: Did you mean what you said in class?

Decker: Of course I did. Jack I know that I hurt you. I should have never let my anger get the best of me.

Jack: I should probably go…

Decker: Yeah…I'll see you in class.

Jack proceeds to walk off.

Scene 9: Scott's House (Alicia's Room). Afternoon

Alicia walks into her room. Her phone begins to ring.

Alicia: Hello. Yes, this is Alicia.

Alicia faces becomes grim. She falls onto the bed. Her face had fear written all over it.
