Episode 13

"Keep Holding On Pt. 2"

Scene 1: Ke'Anna Bathroom. Morning

We enter the bathroom to see Ke'Anna sitting on the floor. She buries her knees into her chest. She sighs deeply as the timer on her phone begins to ring. She rises to her feet as a pregnancy test sits on her bathroom sink.

She picks up the test. A tear rolls down her face. She quickly exits the bathroom sitting the test back onto the sink. We zoom in to see the words PREGNANT.

Scene 2: Ke'Anna Bedroom. Morning

Ke'Anna packs her bookbag. She turns around to see her mother standing at the door.

Ms. Danvers: Are you sure you want to go to school? I would understand if you need some time away from Degrassi.

Ke'Anna ignores her and getting preparing to leave.

Ke'Anna: I don't want to sit at home and be depressed. Brandon is gone, and I need to move on.

Ms. Danvers: I understand, but I want you to take as much time as you needed.

Ke'Anna goes to her closet and grabs her jacket. She continues to ignore her mother.

Ke'Anna: I need to get to school.

Ke'Anna exits the room.

OPENING CREDITS

Scene 3: The Dot. Morning

Levi enters the Dot looking for someone. She notices Isaiah waving her down and makes her way to the booth.

Isaiah: Thank you for coming.

Levi: Thank you for inviting me. I think what you're doing for Degrassi is impressive.

Isaiah: Everyone could use a boost right now. I think a music festival would be perfect. I heard Brandon was a fantastic musician.

Levi smiles as she starts to reminiscence about the time she spent making music with Brandon.

Levi: Brandon did love his music probably more than basketball.

Levi's phone begins to ring.

Levi: Listen, I need to take this call, but I am here to help make sure you succeed. Whatever you need.

Isaiah: Thank you again. I appreciate you taking the time out to help.

Levi rises from the table and proceeds to exit the Dot.

Scene 4: J.T Yorke Memorial Garden. Morning

Jack makes his way down the hallway. He notices Decker studying inside the memorial garden. A smile comes across Jack's face as he knocks on the window. Decker looks up from his books to see Jack standing there.

Jack's smile slowly disappears as Decker ignores him and continues to study. Jack takes the hint and proceeds to walk away. Decker sighs deeply, knowing how much it pained him to ignore Jack.

Scene 5: Degrassi (Cafeteria). Afternoon

Carina, Kenzie, Marcel is talking at their table when Isabella approaches with K.C arms around her. K.C and Carina share a secret gaze. They take a seat at the table, much to Kenzie's annoyance.

Isaiah races across the cafeteria, fumbling along the way. He bumps into the table out of breath.

Marcel: Our very own roadrunner.

Carina hits Marcel on the arm. Marcel rubs his arms as if the hit hurt.

Carina: Everything okay?

Isaiah: I just got my approval for the festival.

Isaiah hands everyone a flyer.

Isabella: "A music festival to celebrate the life of Brandon Jones." This festival is a fantastic idea, Isaiah.

K.C: She's right. This is an excellent idea, dude.

Kenzie turns to Marcel with a wide smile.

Kenzie: We should perform. You have a great voice, and I know we'll burn that stage down with my rap skills!

Scene 6: Degrassi (Hall). Afternoon

Ke'Anna exits Mrs. Gupta's office. She makes her way down the hall. As she walks, she notices Alicia talking to other students. She quickly tries to avoid being seen, but Alicia is already making her way towards her.

Alicia: You're talking to Mrs. Gupta. That's good.

Ke'Anna: It's mandatory since I'm Bran—since I was Brandon's girlfriend.

Alicia: I can't even begin to imagine the pain you're feeling right now, but I think you should tell someone that you're pregnant.

Ke'Anna looks around the hall. She grabs Alicia's arms and pulls her to the bathroom.

Scene 7: Degrassi (Girls Bathroom). Afternoon

Ke'Anna: Me being or not being pregnant is none of your concern. I am not raising a child without a father. I made an appointment to terminate this pregnancy.

Alicia: I'm sorry. You are right. It's your choice, but it doesn't mean you have to do this alone.

Ke'Anna proceeds to storms out of the bathroom in frustration. Alicia sighs in disappointment as she exits behind her. Lily quietly leaves the stall with a look of viciousness.

Scene 8: The Dot. Night

Levi is seated on the couch playing her guitar. Dev and Ivy enter the Dot, laughing. Levi stops strumming when she notices the couple. Ivy and Dev make their way to one of the available booths.

Decker arrives and makes his way to Jack at the counter. Jack ignores him.

Decker: I deserve that.

Jack continues to wipe the counter angrily.

Decker (apologetically): I'm sorry about this morning. This has all been so confusing.

Jack (frustrated): It's pretty simple. I love you. You love me. What's stopping us from being together.

Decker: I caused you a lot of pain, Jack. What if I hurt you again? What if my anger gets the better of me? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I put you in danger again.

Jack takes ahold of Decker's hand, gazing into each other eyes. Decker slides his hand away.

Decker: I'm sorry. I should get home.

Decker makes his exit out the Dot. Jack was confused. Levi finishes her set. She sits her guitar down and makes her way to Dev and Ivy.

Levi: Hey! I can't believe that we bumped into each other.

Ivy stands and hugs Levi. Dev follows suit.

Ivy: It's been a while. You should join us.

Dev looks at Ivy with a forced smile as he moves over to give Levi room.

Dev: You're here to perform for the music festival Degrassi is hosting for Brandon?

Levi: I am. It's such a beautiful way to honor his memory. I just couldn't say no.

Ivy: We should all go together.

Dev once again turns to Ivy with disbelief.

Levi: It would be fun to hang out again like old times. I probably should get going.

Levi proceeds to leave. Dev gives Ivy a look. Ivy tries to smile, but it wasn't working.

Scene 9: Degrassi (Main Foyer). Morning

Ke'Anna enters the school listening to her headphones. She starts to notice that all eyes were on her. She takes out her headphones to hear the whispers from the student body. She looks over to Lily, who has a smirk on her face.

Ke'Anna tosses her things on the ground and charges at Lily. The two girls begin to fight. Students start to become rowdy as they circle the fight. Emma and Jaylin quickly approach to break up the fight.

Emma: This is not acceptable behavior! Both of you in my office now!

Lily (winded): Brandon would be disgusted! He would never want you to kill the last piece of him. You're trying to kill his baby!

Ke'Anna becomes embarrassed as she was the center of attention.

Emma: You're pregnant and fighting?

Ke'Anna grabs her things and quickly runs out of the school. Jaylin escorts Lily down the hall. She notices Xavier in the crowd shaking his head in disappointment.

Scene 10. Degrassi (Gymnasium). Afternoon

Isaiah leads the students as they put the final touches on the gymnasium. Red approaches him.

Red: We're low on paint, and I'm nowhere near down with Brandon's mural.

Carina enters the gym to see Marcel and Kenzie rehearsing badly on stage.

Isaiah: Come with me. I think there are some supplies in the student council office.

Isaiah waves at Carina as he walks out of the gym. Carina notices K.C hanging banners.

Carina: A little more to the left.

K.C looks down to see Carina standing there. He moves the banner more to the left and tapes it before climbing down the ladder. Across the room, Isabella notices the two talking. She senses something between them, but she didn't want to overthink it.

Shay and some of the Power Squad members are huddle up talking when Lily approaches in her uniform. The girls become quiet as they look at Shay.

Lily: Why is everyone standing here? We have a performance.

Shay: The girls and I talked it over, and we don't think you should be on the team anymore.

Lily couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Lily: The Power Squad is mine!

Everyone's attention once again turns to Lily, causing a scene. Shay looks around, not wanting things to escalate.

Shay: This isn't about you. This event is about Brandon. Your behavior lately is inexcusable. You need to get it together.

Shay and the Power Squad disperse as Lily stands alone with Shay's parting words. Lily fights back the tears as she quickly runs out of the gymnasium.

Scene 11: Degrassi (Main Foyer). Late Evening

Students, parents, staff, and community members start to fill the halls of Degrassi. Ivy enters Degrassi with nostalgia. Levi waves at her as they make their way towards each other.

Levi: Where's Dev?

Ivy: He said he wanted to meet here.

Levi: I just wanted to say that you don't have to hide that you two are a couple.

Ivy sighs in relief.

Ivy: I didn't know if you knew. We didn't want to flaunt our relationship in your face.

Levi: Dev and I ended things a long time ago. Even though we're not as close as we use to be, you are still my friend. I want you to be happy.

Ivy: I want you to be happy too.

The two girls hug it out as Dev makes his way inside the school.

Isaiah: Sorry to interrupt, but we need you on the stage.

Levi waves goodbye as she walks off with Isaiah. Dev pops up behind Ivy. She turns around and wraps her arms around him, and kisses him. Dev is pleasantly surprised.

Dev: What was that for?

Ivy: I love you, Bhudev Sidhu.

Dev: I love you too, Ivy Lee Armstrong.

A smile comes across both their face as Dev leans in for another kiss. Jack notices the couple in the distance.

Decker: They make a cute couple.

Jack turns around to see Decker standing there holding a rose. He takes the rose with a smile.

Decker: I know I'm not the same guy I was when I hurt you, but that person is still a part of me. So, I'm afraid that one day he might be back.

Jack: We won't let that happen.

Decker leans in and kisses Jack. The kiss was epic—a culmination of all their feelings for one another.

Scene 12: Degrassi (Gymnasium). Late Evening

Ke'Anna sneaks into the gymnasium. She notices the mural of Brandon painted on the wall. Levi steps onto the stage with a smile and her guitar.

Levi: Brandon was a special person. We had a special connection through music. If it wasn't for him, I don't think I would have rediscovery my love for music.

Levi begins to strum softly on her guitar.

Levi (singing): When the pain comes crashing like rain. Just remember the lesson gained. You're not at the end. I will come and be your friend.

Ke'Anna couldn't fight the tears anymore, and she couldn't control her breathing. Her chest started to feel tight. She exits the gym.

Scene 13: Degrassi (Hall). Late Evening

Ke'Anna falls to the ground bursting into tears. Alicia takes a seat next to her. She sits in silence, comforting Ke'Anna as she continues to break down.

Ke'Anna (weepily): I can't do it. I cannot get rid of my last ties to Brandon, which is this baby. I miss him.

Ke'Anna head falls into Alicia's lap. Alicia wipes the tears from her eyes as she consoles her.

Alicia: I know you do. I know.

They sit in silence as Ke'Anna sobs.

CLOSING CREDITS
