For the first time in a decade Barbossa felt physical pain as he opened his shirt to reveal blood blossoming from the bullet hole in his chest, staining his white shirt. As he fell back, he heard Narcissa let out a strangled scream of grief.

"NO!" Turning his head slightly he saw his daughter race towards him and drop to her knees by his side, tears rolling down her cheeks. Desperately she tried to stem the flow of blood coming from his chest.

"No father! You can't leave me! You can't!" Barbossa felt a twinge of regret that he was unable to heed his daughter's pleas. As their eyes met Barbossa used what strength he had left to reach up and place a hand on her cheek.

It was warm and soft. Wet with the tears that continued to pour down her face. Gently he brushed away a tear with his thumb.

"Finally," he whispered. Narcissa placed her hand over his gripping the other tightly. He didn't want to leave his little girl but he knew there was no choice.

"Goodbye treasure," he told her softly. For a moment Narcissa was all there was and then there was nothing.

Narcissa looked down at her dying father as he placed his hand on her cheek. She stopped trying to stem the flow of blood. They both knew it was futile. She could feel the tears running down her face but didn't bother to brush them away.

Despite the fact that he was dying her father gave her a small gentle smile much like the ones she remembered him bestowing on her as a child.

"Goodbye treasure," he said before the light left his eyes and his body went limp. A wave of grief swept through Narcissa and she broke down sobbing. Burying her face in her father's coat. She felt as if it had been her heart that was shot. Where her father had once been there now was a gaping hole.

After what seemed like hours she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and heard Elizabeth say softly.

"We have to go Cissy."

"No," Narcissa choked out. "I can't leave him."

"Cissy if we don't leave now the navy will come. They can't find you crying over the body of a pirate." Elizabeth forced Narcissa to look at her.

"Your father sent you away to have a better life. Now he's gone he wouldn't want you to jeopardize that." There was a ring of truth to her sister's words. Narcissa took several deep breaths to calm her crying.

She took the green apple from her father's pocket and placed it in his hand.

"They were his favorite," she whispered. Elizabeth wrapped an arm about her shoulders and they slowly walked out.

They returned to the ship where Governor Swann expressed his relief that they both were alright and briefly scolded Elizabeth for running off. Jack was thrown in the brig along with Ragetti and Pintel the only surviving members of the Pearl's crew.

Narcissa now paced the small cabin she had been given. She'd changed from her pirate clothes and into a long dark blue dress. Her mind was still reeling and her heart was still aching. There was a knock on the cabin door.

"Enter!" she called. In stepped Weatherby Swann.

"How are you?" he asked. Narcissa forced a smile.

"Fine thank you." He gave her a skeptical look. Narcissa sighed.

"It's nothing I can tell you about."

"Because it has to do with your father?" Narcissa whipped around eyes wide.

"What!? How do you know?" Weatherby shrugged.

"When I was deciding who to choose as a companion for Elizabeth, I wanted to know the background of my choice so I had someone see who had put you on that boat to England."

"And you willingly chose the daughter of a pirate?" asked Narcissa incredulously.

"You are not your father. His crimes are not yours. I saw a young girl alone and in need of help. I've never had cause to regret my choice." He smiled at her kindly. "Elizabeth isn't the only one who cares about you."

Narcissa stared at him still slightly shocked that this man who she knew heavily disliked pirates had taken her in and cared for her all these years. Though he never replaced her father she couldn't deny how well he had treated her. She hugged him.

"I know," she replied. They pulled apart and Weatherby sighed.

"I can't be sorry for the death of a pirate. But I recognize the pain of losing a parent." Narcissa nodded. It was more than she could have expected.

"He may have been a pirate. But he was till my father," she said quietly. Weatherby nodded.

"Perhaps the world is not as black and white as some believe. If you need anything, let me know." Narcissa gave him a small smile.

"Thank you. For everything." Governor Swann inclined his head before leaving.

The silence that filled the cabin was broken by a familiar screeching sound. Narcissa looked out the window and saw Jack the monkey.

"Jack!" she exclaimed opening the window to let him in. The little monkey leapt into her arms and she hugged him.

"You miss him too don't you?" she asked. Jack gave a small chirp of agreement and held out a gold medallion. Narcissa laughed.

"Didn't you learn anything?" she asked wryly as she placed the medallion around her neck. A remind of how this all started. She turned to look at Jack.

"You're all I have left of him." Narcissa scratched him behind the ears. "I'll look after you." Then a thought came to her. Jack wasn't all that was left.

Glancing out the window she saw a longboat below. Quickly she left her room, Jack sitting on her shoulder. Narcissa snuck through the shadows and down to the brig.

Before becoming mortal again, the crew of the Pearl had made quite a large dent in the navy crew. So, there were far less guards than usual. Thankfully only one was watching the brig and he was asleep. She glanced over into the cell on the far left and saw that Jack was also sleeping. She was grateful as if he woke up, she might be more tempted to shoot him.

"Maybe we should pray for help?" came Ragetti's voice.

"What do ye expect an angel to come rescue us?" scoffed Pintel

"Well, I'm not an angel but I'll have to do," said Narcissa wryly.

Pintel and Ragetti looked up at her as she descended the steps.

"Miss Barb..." began Ragetti but Pintel smacked him upside the head making his eye pop out.

"Don't go us'in that name! Do ye want 'er to end up swinging next to us?"

"Sorry Miss Narcissa then," corrected Ragetti as he put his eye back in. A sight Narcissa still found a bit disturbing. "What are you doing here?"

"Busting you two out," whispered Narcissa, carefully lifting the key from the guards belt.

"Why?" asked Pintel.

"Because you are all that's left of my father's crew. You sailed with him the longest and I can't let you hang," she replied as she opened the door. "Now follow me and don't make a sound."

Narcissa led them back up the stairs grabbing a coil of rope as they went out. Once they reached her cabin she swiftly locked the door.

"There's a longboat below. You can climb down," she said fastening the rope to her bed. Looking up she was surprised to see that hadn't moved. Both had looks of what almost seemed to be sympathy of all things.

"We're real sorry about the Captain poppet," said Pintel.

"So am I. I'd have liked to sail with you lot," she replied.

"Come with us," suggested Ragetti earnestly. Narcissa smiled sadly as she shook her head, touched by the offer.

"If I go they'll think you kidnapped me. You have a better chance of getting away without me." The pair nodded.

"For what it's worth we would have liked to sail with you too," Ragetti said and Narcissa nodded.

"Thank you now hurry! And do be careful, you aren't immortal anymore!" she reminded them in a mock scolding tone. They each shot her a grin before climbing out the window. Once they reached the boat, she undid the rope and dropped it down.

Narcissa and Jack watched the two pirates disappear into the fog.

"What can I say? I'm a pirate at heart," she told the monkey who chirped cheerfully in agreement nuzzling his head against her neck.

Author's note: One more chapter to go! I have to admit I always get a bit teary with this scene. I hope you think I did this justice.
