Chapter 6

Ochaco is so terribly flustered. She takes the quickest shower of her life, brushes her teeth, combs her hair into a ponytail and puts on some jeans and a random christmas sweater. As she's putting on her socks and shoes she starts to think.

"What made Deku want to hang out with me all of a sudden?", she says to the little keychain. "Not that I don't want to hang out with him but I'm confused".

Deku and I always feel like we're so close but a million miles apart. We don't get a lot of time alone so what do I say to him? I used to be able to talk to him so freely before but now I'm always tripping over my words and running away when I get too flustered.

She takes one final look in the mirror to make sure she looks okay.

Her reflection looks just as flustered as she feels.

"Oh maybe I should put on a little body spray. Maybe it'll distract him from how nervous I am" she exclaims.

She grabs her little bottle of strawberry body spray and sprays a little so it doesn't seem like she's trying too hard.

"Okay little guy, wish me luck" she says to the little keychain.

Ochaco clips the keychain to her belt loop. She puts on her coat and hat and gloves with the fingertips cut out so she can use her quirk. She looks in the mirror for hopefully the last time and steps out the door.

She doesn't see anyone when she steps out the door.

Okay this is good. If we can just get out of here without running into anyone then that would be perfect! I really don't want anyone to ruin this.

She heads towards the steps and as she heads to the second floor she runs into Aoyama on the steps.

"Is it because you like him?"

Words Aoyama said to her during their first term's final exam that's stuck with her for months now ringing in her head. She wants to run away back to her room as she faces Aoyama in the stairwell.

"Bonjour mon chéri! Off to see someone?", he asks with an unreadable smile.

"Is it because you like him?"

His words ringing in Ochaco's head like a broken record.

I can't run away this time… but I also won't give him the satisfaction of seeing me flustered again.

"Nope, just going to go get some fresh air by myself. See ya, Aoyama!" She says with a small wave as she continues past him down the stairs.

Aoyama watches on as she hurries away.
