Chapter 8: New Years Eve

Dib snickered as he watched Zim heading towards his house in the snow. He was tempted to do the same thing Zim does to him and let him wait outside but knowing the alien the green menace would just break into his room through the window.

"DIB-BEAST! OPEN UP BEFORE I BREAK DOWN YOUR DOOR!" Zim screeched as he knocked on the door loudly as Dib started walking down the stairs to get to the door.

"That's not a nice way to ask to come in." Dib taunted before opening the door, Zim shoving him aside as the alien shivered.

"As if I care about pleasantries with you, Dib-stink," Zim said with his teeth chattering.

Dib just shook his head with a smile before tossing the alien a sweater. "Put that on, it'll warm you up. I'll get you some hot chocolate." Dib told the alien as the green-skinned male grumbled about the sweater being stinky like he was.

The teen just chuckled in amusement at the alien's antics as he came back with two mugs of hot chocolate. Zim quickly snatched the drink, expecting it like everything else Dib has given him before drinking the drink.

"Now, tell Zim why you invited him for this 'New Years Eve'" Zim demanded the teen, narrowing his eyes at the other as Dib was drinking his own hot chocolate. "What even is this, New Years Eve holiday, it's stupid to celebrate something like this." Zim continued with a huff.

"Well, why not? We stay up until midnight, watch a glowing ball drop to the Earth and celebrate for surviving another year." Dib explained.

"That's just as dumb as celebrating the day of your birth," Zim stated, making Dib shrug.

"Come on, Gaz is in the backyard." Dib motioned the alien to follow him as he headed out to the back where Gaz was sitting on the bench in front of a campfire, bundled up while holding her game device.

"About time," Gaz grumbled as Dib smiled nervously as he went over to take a seat.

Zim grumbled the whole time as he had to step through the snow once more, clinging to his hot chocolate as he took a seat next to Dib. "Why are we outside like this?" He asked as he made a disgusted look as Dib picked up some sticks.

"We're making smores, it's fun." Dib grinned as he gave Gaz a stick and held on out to the alien.

"Smores?" Zim asked, hesitantly taking the stick.

"Here, let me show you," Dib said taking out marshmallows which immediately piqued Zim's interest before his look converting into horror and disgust as Dib put it on the stick. Zim looked over, seeing Gaz doing the same before both putting the marshmallows over the fire.

Zim continued to watch as the fire set the marshmallow aflame, watching Dib blow out the fire before taking the marshmallow off the stick as Dib got out some chocolate and graham crackers and put them together. "Ta-da! A smore, come on, try it." Dib told the alien, handing it to the alien. Zim was hesitant as he took the treat before taking a bite. The alien's eyes widen as he hummed happily as he ate the smore.

"I'm going to take that as you enjoying it." Dib said as he started making more as the alien finished the smore.

"Yes, it was adequate at least," Zim replied making it seem like it wasn't that special. In reality, Zim loved the treat but he wasn't going to admit it openly.

The next couple of hours were spent with the three spending time together. They played games... Well, Gaz played the game while Zim and Dib kept competing over each other on who was better. Obviously, the better one was Gaz and she kicked their butts at the game. Soon enough it was getting late and the three were on the couch watching the tv to watch the ball drop.

Dib was already feeling a little tired but he was determined to stay up to watch the ball drop. He looked over at Zim seeing the alien start dozing off. "10, 9, 8-" The countdown started as Dib watched the alien lean against him, sleeping. "4, 3, 2, 1. HAPPY NEW YEARS!" The people on the tv cheered as Dib pecked the alien's head.

"Happy New Year, Bug." Dib chuckled.

"You two need to get a room," Gaz commented, making Dib blush.

"Gaz, it's not like that!"
