The castle takes flight

:Start Chapter:

Arus-Outside the castle of Lions-Front door

Allura was saying good bye to the Arusians giving them a beacon to contact them if the Galra return. Though Fred was seen to the side, giving the Village's strongest warrior a gift between warriors, a standard issue, UNSC Combat Knife, to help protect his people. The two shook hands as they split apart and Allura gave a quick speech to say, "Thank you for all that you have done to protect this castle, but we must continue our mission to protect the universe from Zarkon and the Galra."

The Arusian's blink as Jorge stepped over and says, "The night sky where we fight evil monsters," causing the Arusians to nod in understanding. Jorge noticed they were not moving away while the Spartans and Allura were heading inside. Jorge quickly spoke to the Arusians, "You need to head down and away from the mountain. The Castle is going to fly but it might destroy a good portion of the mountain to do it."

The Arusians nodded in understanding and started running in a somewhat blind panic down the path leading to the hill between their village and the castle. Jorge stepped inside with the others as the door was sealed behind them. Linda having been guarding the entrance from the inside asks, "You ready to fly Jorge."

"I can get over it," Jorge admitted before everyone, went to the bridge to strap in for takeoff. Even Doctor Halsey who had been dragged into bridge by Tom and Lucy. Everyone was strapped in, Tom and Lucy sharing their paladin seat. Allura stood in the centre of the chamber as two pillars raised for her hands to hover over and began the take off procedure.

Master Chief was silent as he sat down examining his console as Cortana spoke inside his helmet. Doctor Halsey ignored the take off as she worked on her terminal pad finding her research of the Galra energy crystal fascinating though keeping it Quarantined from the castle had been the best decision so far. It was when the Castle started to move that they noticed the entire mountain had been destroyed as it rises into the sky with surprising speed and few G-Forces of pressure.

Once they were in space the Chief stood up and spoke, "I have an idea for the Balmera. Doctor, how far has your research gone?"

"I have had limited success after your test of the equipment, but I have managed reduce the size of the holographic equipment of the training room," Doctor Halsey states easily.

The Chief nods before saying, "Then I have a plan."

Allura crosses her arms over her space suit with the four mice on her shoulders copying her. Allura states, "I am in charge here, Spartan."

The Chief simply asks, "Then what is your plan?"

"We force the Galra off the Balmera and free the Balmerans," Allura states simply.

The Chief looks to Jorge who spoke, "They may know we are coming and the Balmera and her people are in poor health from what I understand. They are starving and sick."

Coran spoke up, "Yes, without the restoration ritual the Balmera has been unable to recover the energy they use to make the crystals," The Chief was thoughtful on this piece of information as Coran continued, "The Galra appear to be taking an giving nothing back, that crystal your doctor is studying was clearly just taken."

"And corrupted," Halsey states simply going over her research, "I take it that the Balmera generates these crystals but needs time to create a limitless energy source."

Allura frowns before asking, "The crystals always generate energy, it is why the castle is even able to move after so long."

"Unfortunately the Galra Crystal we have taken, it's energy has been steadily leached from an entity inside the crystal," Halsey answered causing the Chief to frown, while Allura and Coran was confused as Halsey continued, "Ever since I quarantined the crystal it's levels of energy have depleted enough to discover some kind of energy being absorbing the energy that the Crystal holds."

The Chief was silent appearing to think or talk with Cortana before he says, "Then Freeing the Balmera is now more important."

That was the point that an alarm went off and Allura used her station to get answers, "It is a distress signal, according to the broadcast they damaged their ship's engines and need help."

The Chief asks, "Do you have the coordinates?" Allura nods before Chief says, "Then Jam that signal and head towards it."

Allura blinks before asking, "Why would we disable a call for help?"

"So the Galra don't find them," Chief states causing Allura to nod before completing her task as the Chief adds, "Have the Sigma Spartan-IIIs secure the castle, Kelly and Linda help with that with Coran. Those of us with Lions will go meet those calling for help."

Allura blinks before saying, "I was just about to suggest that."

"Hence why we are going," Chief states with no nonsense as he moves to grab his gun with his fellow Paladin Spartans, Cortana laughing in his ear. With that The Chief grabbed his rifle from just outside the bridge and walked towards the landing shuttle, and would be joined by Jorge, Six, Fred, Tom and Lucy. Allura would not arrive until she had landed the castle.

Zarkon's Throne room-one hour prior

A random commander was kneeling in front of Zarkon, "My informant on the Balmera near Voltron's last known coordinates. I can have my fleet ambush them as they attempt to Raid the Balmera. Though in order to capture Voltron, we need the full power of the fleet."

Zarkon simply states, "I already know the full power of Voltron. Do not try to command me."

The commander simply states, "That was not my intent my lord. I spoke out of turn only to ensure the strength of your empire."

Zarkon was unmoving while appearing in thought, intending to follow the commander when Haggard, standing next to Zarkon, spoke, "My lord, the Experiment is ready for the test. If we delay test we delay gaining more Quintessence than ever before."

The Commander simply says, "Silence witch, if we delay the capture or destruction of Voltron we risk defeat."

Zarkon stands and in apparent anger says, "We will complete the experiment before capturing Voltron, the Quintessence we gain, will ensure that Voltron will be under my power. Commence with the Experiment immediately."

The Commander silently returned to his fleet while ordering his second in command, "Place a bounty on the Lions of Voltron, we can at least gain knowledge of their location."

Random Moon between Arus and the Local Balmera-Three hours later

The Castle of Lions turned vertical as it landed allowing the landing capsule to lower near the stranded ship that had sent out the distress call. Allura led the six Spartans towards the stranded ship. The three pilots blink at the sight of the six super soldiers and one pretty lady.

The first pilot was male with violet skin, wearing a mix an max set of clothes taken from many different planets with two different shoes that Chief, Six and Jorge recognised.

The Second pilot is female was wearing a green bodysuit that free up her arms and allows for some cleavage to be seen, with head tentacles and webbed hands.

The third pilot was an old white robot with four legs, two cat like ears, circular face and with a body looking like an old tower computer box.

The first pilot spoke up, "Hey, thanks for coming. We have been stuck on this planet for three days."

The Chief frowns under his helmet as Allura spoke, "We are happy to help in any way that we can. I am Princess Allura of Altea and these are the Paladins of Voltron." The three look at her like they have no idea what she was talking about.

Jorge sighs and steps over and says, "Giant robot that can fight Zarkon."

Jorge's words caused the three to understand the importance before the male Pilot spoke, "Well that is good to hear. I am Rolo, that is Nyma and our navigation droid Beezer," as he introduced Nyma she appeared to swipe her 'Hair' as she appeared to use seduction on the Spartans. Unknown to everyone Cortana was laughing loudly in the Chief's ears at that. Rolo then continued, "Not sure what brought us down though we were flying through the sector avoiding Galra patrols before we had to make an emergency landing on this moon."

The Chief looked to the stranded ship silently before Allura started speaking again, "Well we should be able to locate everything you will need in the Castle of Lions."

Allura started leading the three new comers towards the Castle only for all the Spartans to stop them. Allura frowns before the Chief spoke up, "What did the Galra offer?"

That caused the three to freeze up and the Spartans to aim their weapons at the three. Rolo groans and says, "A reward for information on the Lions of Voltron. We were going to use it to get a pardon from the Galra."

The Chief simply nods at that before saying, "The castle detected your craft flying in a week ago and your distress signal came online earlier today," Allura who was about to argue paused at that before the Chief continued, "Why were you seeking a pardon."

"We are a cargo hauler crew. We accidently came upon some stolen Galra cargo. We got spotted delivering the cargo and had to escape quickly only to be declared criminals. It is a life sentence."

Allura frowns before saying, "I find that surprising the Galra of my time normally kill criminals."

Jorge though spoke, "Life sentence means centuries of added life, unless you die on world that is too dangerous for them to survive. Galra force them to consume food with traces of whatever they have been using to live for so long."

Allura asks, "Did they feed you this substance?"

Six answered, "No, it dulls combat ability making it boring to fight those under prolonged use."

Jorge simply states, "Yeah, they normally wait until you can't fight anymore."

Chief spoke up again and says, "You would happen to have any of this cargo with you?"

Rolo and his crew still had their arms up as he answered, "Well we have plenty of cargo we were meant to deliver before becoming criminals."

"How much food?" Chief asks.

"Enough to feed a planet for month, and a couple crates of Galra weapons that we were paid to deliver by a Galra Commander before we were turned into Criminals," Rolo answered.

Chief nods as Allura says, "You are not going to steal from them!"

Chief ignored her before looking to Rolo and says, "Put your hands down. We are loading your craft onto our ship and once we have freed the Balmera you are going to do some smuggling work for us."

Rolo blinks as the three lower their arms before Rolo asks, "Smuggling what?"

"Prisoners," Chief states, "To Earth."

Fred blinks at this but understands why though one did question the Chief and that was Tom, "Sir, you can't just send unknown and possibly pirates to Earth. Especially considering that we cannot trust them with the coordinates to Earth."

Allura argued differently at that as she says, "They have been under the iron grip of Zarkon we can trust them."

The Chief simply says, "We need to send back information and Technology on the Galra. Best way to do that is to send a couple drone ships to dissect, along with their weapons and the two Galra we have imprisoned on the castle once we down load their memories."

Rolo blinks before sighing and says, "Look I don't think your world will be enough to protect us from the Galra."

"Then you will be free to leave after you deliver our cargo," Chief states with a level of diplomacy that surprised Allura, "Though you may be able to get work transporting cargo around the UNSC controlled worlds."

Jorge frowns at that before saying, "Chief I may not have been there at the end of the war, but even I know that not every human likes Aliens."

Chief simply says, "We are limited on options and the better prepared the UNSC is to a possible Galra invasion the better."

Allura frowns and asks, "You expect the Galra to attack your homeworld?"

Chief simply looks to Allura through his helmet and says, "They attacked yours."

The Chief led the Smugglers inside the Castle of Lions along with their ship placing it in the hanger closest to the Black Lion before everyone met up in the main hall for a finally planning for their run on the Balmera. Surprising their three passengers at the somewhat complex plan.

With Ackerson-Mother of Invention-Weeks after the attack on a Galra Slave camp

Agent Washington was alone in his quarters after the debrief of the mission. It went well, dismantled a couple dozen Drone soldiers, killed a few Covenant Prisoners and completed the objective. The issue, a couple of the Alien Prisoners that Wash had met were strangely familiar with the name Spartan and the fact that his team was forced to kill several Human Slaves. Something strange happened to Carolina, as she listen to York and York's AI, designated Delta, logically explain why they should rescue the Humans and English speaking Aliens in an attempt to gain intel on other facilities. Carolina looked to be willing to listen to them only she did not get the chance to willing help the slaves as her suit was taken control over by her AI designated Sigma who forced her to shoot every slave in view, a total of twenty out of shear AI based savagery.

They had completed their mission easily after that and were now back on base. All so that they could speak to their control officer to get a mental evaluation on the FreeLance Spartans.

Agent Washington would be the last to get therapy before they would be sent on many missions with different teams working together and Wash learning about the abilities of everyone's AI's and a bunch of skills and combat abilities he would gain from just watching. His AI would not appear until his last day with the Program after meeting Ackerson's Number One Free Lancer, designated Texas and her AI designated Omega before when the Pair would be sent on a mission together only to go AWOL when Wash's AI Designated Epsilon finally activated and they steal a ship they were sent in to steal for Ackerson only not for Ackerson.

:End of Chapter 7:

So basically this was somewhat filler though it means that Rolo and Nyme will probably have some more screen time then the original show.
