"If the directions were right, this little path should lead us there," Emma pointed at a small winding clearing through a forest," The two trainers slipped through the path, Ϗai going ahead of Emma, with Arcanine in between them. They came to a fork in the path.

"Where from here?" Ϗai asked,

"I don't know, it's like a maze!"

"Let's split up!" Ϗai ran left, Arcanine behind him,

"Wait!" Emma yelled, but Ϗai had already gone. Reluctantly, she went right. Ϗai ran through the maze-like path, choosing directions at random.

"Have I been here before?" Ϗai asked himself. Arcanine barked. "I know, buddy, we're lost but I don't-" Arcanine bumped into Ϗai.

"What is it?" Ϗai turned around, and saw Arcanine headbutting a small crack in the thickly forested wall. "I see," Ϗai said, grabbing at the crack. He pulled himself through, and let Arcanine through behind him. He found himself looking at a huge building, completely in ruin.

"This must be it, great job, buddy!" Arcanine barked, proud of himself. Ϗai walked inside with Arcanine. "This is creepy, let's find the Mayor and get out," Ϗai saw something in the distance. "Who are you? Show yourself!" The figure stepped forward,

"Ϗai?"

"Emma!" Emma ran towards Ϗai,

"Good to see you made it!" She hugged Ϗai, and Arcanine barked, "Where is the Mayor?"

"I don't know, let's search through," They walked through the dark house, hearing creaks coming from above.

"Ϗai, I don't like this, we should leave, come back another day,"

"No, we have to keep going," They came to a room, filled with toys. It appeared to be a child's bedroom.

"Ϗai, now I'm really scared, let's go!" Emma tugged on Ϗai's hand, but Ϗai didn't budge. From the ceiling, something floated down,

"A, pokemon?" Ϗai wondered. It had a ghostly face, and little arms that were holding a pokedoll. Emma pointed her pokedex at it.

"Kuprian Yamask, the Spirit Pokemon. A Normal and Ghost type. This pokemon is a spirit of a child that passed away in their sleep. The doll it holds was the one it was holding when it died,"

"Aww, the poor thing," Emma said,

"See, not so scared anymore, are you?" Ϗai said, but the Yamask backed up, it scared of the two trainers.

"Oh, don't worry, we won't hurt you," Ϗai reached out a hand, but the Yamask moved away. "Ok, then. I won't touch you," The Yamask relaxed a little.

"So you've met her?" Ϗai, Emma, and Arcanine turned around quickly. Someone was standing in the doorway,

"Wh-who are you?" Emma asked,

"I'm Mayor Markas, mayor of Aeyssol," He stepped forward, "I've been watching over this Yamask since I first got here. It likes the company, but never lets me get too close. In fact, you're closer to it then I've ever been," Ϗai turned around to look at the Yamask, which moved closer to Ϗai.

"I see," Ϗai said,

"It's said it can sense pure-hearted individuals. I, clearly, am not pure of heart enough,"

"Why not?" Emma asked,

"You see, if I were to catch it, I would likely put it through rigorous training, not something it seems to want to do,"

"Then why does it still let you near it?" Ϗai cut in,

"It seems to know that I don't want to catch it, only to comfort it,"

"Alright, and why is-" Ϗai was cut off by a shake from his backpack, the Yamask was butting into his pokeball compartment.

"It looks like it wants to be caught," Mayor Markas said, smiling.

"Alright then, little one," Ϗai grabbed a pokeball, and without hesitation, the Yamask hit the button, being absorbed into the ball. Without the ball shaking, it was caught.

"The Yamask deemed you worthy," The Mayor said, "Now, I must be back to my tower,"

"Wait!" Ϗai said,

"What is it?"

"We don't know the way out," Emma said,

"Ah, but your new friend does," The pokeball shook, and the Yamask came out. When Emma and Ϗai turned around, Mayor Markas was gone. The Pokedoll holding Yamask let them out of the house and back through the maze. When they made it out, and back to the streets of Aeyssol, the sun was beating down on them, from right up in the sky.

"I didn't realise we were gone so long," Ϗai said,

"Well, now that the Mayor is back," Emma responded,

"Let's go!" Ϗai said, still energetically running, with Emma and Arcanine beside him.

When they made it inside the skyscraper, they saw Mayor Markas,

"Ah, I was waiting for you," He said,

"So now can we battle the gym leader?" Ϗai said. Markas smirked,

"Come with me," He unlocked the elevator, and the three got in, with Arcanine shoving them to the back. The elevator went up,

"So who's the gym leader?" Ϗai asked,

"He's up here," The Mayor said. When they made it to the top, they caught their breath after being squashed by Arcanine.

"Where is he?" Emma said, walking out into the huge arena. There was a large dome over it, that they had seen from outside was on the very top. Ϗai and Emma turned to look at the Mayor, but he was different. He had taken off his formal wear to reveal a uniform,

"I am the gym leader of this town!" He said. On those words, the huge dome split into two, revealing the bright blue sky, and the hot sun.

"Go! Skarmory, Go! Lairon!" Ϗai and Emma looked at eachother, and nodded. A double battle.

"Arcanine, ready!" Arcanine got into a fighting stance,

"Go! Milotic!" The Milotic whipped it's tail, ready for battle.
