Paul finally gets home. He comes in and comes to the living room.
"Hey Mom" He says lying on the couch I lift the laptop and he lays his head in my lap. I run my fingers through his hair. He calms immediately and sighs.
"Hey Baby, how was patrol?" I ask him.
"It was boring. I ran around. The Cullen's are still around, so Sam has us on high alert." He explains closing his eyes.
"There's food for you keeping warm in the oven." I tell him.
"Give me a minute, mom. I just wanna lay here for a moment."
"Alright, you are more then welcome."
"I love you, mom"
"I love you too, baby"
"Alright, I want that food now, please." Paul says while sitting up.
I get up and he lies back down. I hate how hard Sam works him. I know he is one of the older wolves, and Sam needs the older wolves to work lots. I know the older wolves have more practice and skills. I go get his food out of the oven. It's still hot. I get a fork for it and go bring it to him in the living room. When I get there, he is already sitting up.
"Thanks, mom" he says.
"You are welcome"
"I have noticed Brady and Collin getting taller and muscles." He mentions between bites
"I noticed that, they are also eating more then they were before." I tell him.
"I will let Sam know when I talk to him next." Paul informs me.
"Sounds good." He quickly finishes up his dinner and dessert. "Jared is up in your room."
"Alright, I'm gonna head up there." He tells me
"He is doing his homework. You are going to do your homework as well?"
"Yeah, Yeah" He says. He kisses my cheek then runs upstairs. My chuckle follows him up the stairs.
My boys keep me so happy. They are a little crazy sometimes, though. I pull out my laptop for another hour. I want to make sure Jared gets to his Patrol on time. The boys never miss their patrols here. They know that if they fall asleep here no matter what time I will make sure they make it on time. These boys are just that boys. It's expected that they grow up quickly when they become spirit warriors. I know they are still just kids, so I try to let them enjoy that for a while longer. I treat their patrol like it's their job. I don't treat it like it's their life. The counsel tends to do that. They think that being a spirit warrior should be their whole life. I notice an hour has passed quickly.
I go upstairs and go to Paul's room. I knock quietly on the door.
"Come in" I hear Paul say.
I walk in and see Jared fast asleep on the bed. Paul is sitting at his desk, doing his homework.
"Jared has Patrol" I tell Paul. I go over to Jared and gently wake him. "Time for patrol, sleepyhead."
"Alright." He gets up and goes to the door. "Laters, Paul. I'll be back to crash when I'm done." He tells Paul.
"Laters, man" He says back. I wave to him from Paul's room. I know he will close the door behind him. I don't worry about a lock. No one, but the wolves can get into the house due to the warding anyway.
"You going to bed soon?" I ask Paul
"Yeah, I think I'll get into bed right away. You?" He asks me
"Yeah, I will be" I tell him. I leave his room so he can get ready to sleep.
I head to the main floor where my room is. I head over to my room and get changed into PJ's. I crawl into bed. I fall asleep almost instantly, knowing my boys are safe and sound under my roof.
Rosalie's POV
I have been living with the Cullen's since I was turned. I was lucky to get my mate Emmett. I became close with Jasper, who plays my twin over the years. I am one of the few who know that Jasper and Alice aren't mates. I know Jasper is still very much in love with his wife, for when he was human. A lot of us lose our memories in the burn of the turn, but he remembered her.
He had books that she wrote, and he would read them to learn more about her. He said it was like falling in love with her all over again. He also got to read her falling in love with him. Lately, he has been getting more depressed. His friend Peter suggested reading the books to find out about her. Maybe finding out what happened to her will help him.
I have never read the books before. I didn't want to read them. I felt like I would be stepping to far into his personal life. We don't have a lot of privacy being vampires. So, we try to give privacy when we can. I really do hope she found a husband, fell in love, and had children. She also could have been pregnant when he died and had his baby, and he has descendants. All I know is that I need to find out what happened to her. I need to understand who she was.
I go to Jasper in his office. He only leaves his office these days to hunt and go to school. I swear those are the only reasons he wants to leave. Alice drags him out to do what she wants, but he never wants to. I know he only does as she says just to not start a fight. He does enjoy fighting with Emmett. Emmett is like a child. I think those are the emotions that Jasper likes. I see him stilling at his desk looking intimidating as always.
"Why are you frightened and curious, Rose?" He asks.
