Silence.
All King Lewyn could hear and could feel, was silence. All he could remember was a servant of Loptyr knocking him down before he could even get a chance to retaliate.
And thus, he had died before he even got a chance to see his wife and kids, again. He last saw them when he was told to head for Lubeck, then Phinora and finally Velthomer. He was very skilled in battle with his wind magic, but the army relied on him too much thanks to that, leaving him unable to go back to Tailtiu, Arthur, and Tinni.
Perhaps if he simply rejected Sigurd's requests, things could have been different.
But now, he can't change anything, he was dead.
So, what else was there to do other than lay in nothingness.
He spent the past couple of minutes staring at the void, wondering why or how was he still conscious. That was until a bright green light surrounded what was just a void a few moments ago.
"King Lewyn…" An almost mystical voice muttered, then there was a long pause. Lewyn thought he was hearing things. He closed his eyes again, before a harsh powerful gust came at him causing him to open his eyes. Upon opening his eyes, he saw a big figure, it was the same color as the light.
But before he could say anything, he was interrupted by the voice. "What the fuck were you thinking!?"
Lewyn, taken aback by the sudden shouting, said. "Wh-What? Who are you and what the hell are you talking about?"
The figure only shook their head. "You have no idea who I am? Well who do you think? I'm Forseti! You know, the god you all in Silesse worship."
"Worship? Worship? I don't know what you're on about, but I haven't seen anyone do that in years, we know all that messed up shit you've done in the past! You can't try to erase it from history anymore, we all know the truth!"
"And? I'm still the dragon that gave my blessing to your ancestor Sety. And even now, I can bring you back, to see your children again. Isn't that what you want?"
"Yeah. I admit...but…" Lewyn hesitated.
"Tell you what, if I brought you back, I'll let you go see your family again."
Lewyn paused, thinking about what Forseti had told him. His eyes widened with emotion.
"BUT on one condition, I will take control of your body for a bit, just to check how Silesse is doing. It won't be too long, I promise you."
Lewyn still didn't say anything, he had to think about this carefully, yes, he would get to see Tailtiu again. But was it worth it?
He took a moment, but he finally replied with. "I shall accept your deal, Forseti."
Letting out his hand, Forseti said, with a very sly smile. "Then take my hand, and your wish will be true."
Without a word, Lewyn took Forseti's (spiritual) hand, and with them shaking hands, the glow faded, and everything went dark again.
Cold.
Frosty chills were all around him.
And where he can feel cold, that's where he knew Silesse was near. Meaning Tailtiu and his family were also near.
Lewyn's eyes shot open as he found himself in the cold spring of Silesse, the snow was still on the ground, and would stay there until the middle of summer. How he ended up there was a mystery to him as he could have sworn he was still in Grannvale at the time of his death.
Despite the fact that he was alive, he still couldn't feel his body, was this the effect of Forseti? Or perhaps something else he just couldn't think of.
Whatever it was, it didn't matter, he needed to get to Tailtiu, no matter what.
With that motive in mind, he forced his body to get up off of the ground, feeling awfully lightheaded after doing so. But then he could feel his body again just as quickly as it had appeared.
'Not a moment to lose,' he told himself, before running as fast as he could as he passed the border of Silesse. Then, he fell down again. Almost forgetting about the deal he had made with Forseti as he turned back and realized that he had merely tripped over nothing.
"What in the…?" He asked himself before he heard a voice in his head, booming loud and almost destroying his train of thought.
"We are going to the capital first. That way we get my part of the deal done and you can go to your family afterwards."
"Wh-but you-"
"I cannot allow you, not now, we're going to the capital. You will get your chance to see your family soon."
"I...sure...whatever" Lewyn sighed, defeated, but he supposed he didn't have any other choice but to oblige.
So, without a word, 'Lewyn' had made his way to the Capital of Silesse, (which wouldn't have been a problem had it not been that Tailtiu was in Zaxon). What the hell was this god planning? He thought.
Then, darkness filled his vision, unable to see nor do anything, what the hell was about to happen? When the darkness faded. He was in Silesse.
"Ah, Lewyn, you've returned?"
That voice...that was the voice of his mother? It had to be…
The noises of muffled conversation filled his ears, unable to make out what was happening. Until he heard another voice, a voice he knew a little too well.
"Prince...Lewyn? I-I thought you had-"
Erinys…?
That was Erinys who 'he' was talking to.
Lewyn finally felt like he was back in control of his body. Forseti had left him in an awkward position, with not much time to think what to do or say. "Erinys...I...you're here…?"
"Oh! Lewyn! So have you changed your mind after all?" Rahna had interrupted them.
...shit…
"Oh, n-no I-" He tried to speak, but he...the words weren't coming out. And it only left them confused.
His mother was asking him about being King of Silesse right? If that was true, then fuck.
He knew the answer was no, he never wanted to take the role of King, but he couldn't deny it as he originally planned. Instead, all of a sudden, he spoke, but it wasn't him, he didn't say it willingly. But it was his voice even so.
"It'd be my honor." He said, or rather Forseti said. And without a single moment of hesitance too.
...did he just?
That cursed dragon. Of course he did. What did he expect from him? Why did he trust him so easily? He should've just died, if he had stayed dead, none of it would've even happened.
Now that 'he' accepted to be King, he'd never be able to see his family as he was promised.
Even if it was useless, he needed to confront Forseti. He needed to know what he was planning. Trying his best, he used the last of his consciousness to try and talk with him.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" Lewyn yelled at his possessor. What else could he do besides that?
Forseti only laughed. "Quite simple, I'm merely fixing up your pitiful pitiful mistakes you have made these past years."
"Wh-what do you mean!? Sure I fucked up here and there but they weren't the end of the world!"
"Okay well, first of all, did you know that Frigi you're with is being actively hunted down? How am I supposed to keep the rule intact without someone who won't be there?"
"Well, there's always the option of bringing her to Silesse with me! But to you it seems like that's not good enough."
"I've seen what has happened in different worlds, even if you go with her to what you think it's safe in Silesse, she still ends up getting taken away by Friege! And you are always stupid enough to go look for her and leaving your son alone! Whatever the outcome you always end up getting killed, so you should be thankful I'm avoiding your death yet again!"
"Well, I suppose you have a point. But why Erinys? I've always seen her as a lifelong friend, I never really...loved her."
"Well, isn't it obvious? People have thought you two were a good match, and really, it works. It's safe, and easy to do sorta say. Plus, it keeps the Silessian rule in place, sure there are many other options, but I'd really rather not go through that trouble."
"Where are you trying to get to? That doesn't make any sense, I already built a family with Tailtiu! And I don't really know if I can believe you!"
Forseti smirked. "Well, you don't need to believe me, you're gonna be stuck here watching this whole thing go down. And nobody will be there to save you!"
"You…"
"Oh silence, you!" That was the last thing Lewyn heard from Forseti as himself, it was the last thing he ever heard as Lewyn. He felt the same as the first time Forseti took over his body, but this time it was a lot more powerful and intense. Was he really going to lose himself? Forseti didn't even do his side of the bargain.
And as for what Forseti was about to do. Well, he could only watch the horror that passed.
