Dear Mom,

I finally met the son, Japer. That is his name. He came to pick up Lucy after a lesson. He was beautiful, with his green eyes and long blond hair.

"She's fan Girling over you a bit, Japer," Emmett bugs him.

"A bit?" I joke as well.

"She used to say that she knew the moment she met me that we would spend the rest of our lives together. It just shows how right she was. Here I am an eternity without her." Jasper says looking down.

"You still love her, don't you?" I ask him.

"With my whole heart," Jasper says.

I have seen him a few times when bringing stuff to father or the slaves. I feel like he is watching me all the time. I wonder what he is thinking and what he sees.

"Were you watching her?" I ask him.

"Every time she was around." Jasper agrees. "She used to light up an area walking by. I wasn't the only one in town who noticed. Just the only one in town she noticed. She cared for every living creature and gave thanks to every dead creature. It didn't matter who you were she was kind to you."

"I wish I could have met her," Emmett says sadly.

"You would have tried to steal her from me." Jasper jokes. We all laugh at that. "My wife was unforgettable to all. I remember when I went out to war I told one of the slaves to make sure she didn't get hurt. The slave told me with his life. I asked him why. He said cause she was a rare breed and wouldn't tell me anymore. It wasn't till I was a newborn that I understood what he meant."

"What did he mean?" My husband asks

"She would put other before herself always. Not like Bella in a selfish way. But truly and purely unselfish." Jasper explains.

"So, what would you be thinking while looking at her?" I ask.

"About how beautiful she was inside and out. I was also thinking how I need to ask to court her before someone else did," He replies.

I do wish he would ask to court me. I know he would be a fantastic husband because he is an amazing man. A slave just walked in needing help. I will write to you another time.

I love you,

Grace.

"So, she wanted you as well?" I ask him.

"Yes, she would find excuses to come around the fields to see me. At least that's what she told me later on." Jasper explained. "She loved this spot by the river, I would go there to meet up with her. That is the only place she would tell me things like that. I'm not sure why though."

"On to the next entry." I suggest.

"Yes!" Emmett and Jasper agree.

Dear Mom,

Today I had to explain that everything has a time to Lucy. I remember when you taught me that. I told her we are exactly where we need to be. We die exactly when we are supposed to. She didn't like that answer, but we put the sparrow that passed on in a box. Jasper came and helped us dig a hole in the garden. And by help I mean he dug the hole. I told her that now the sparrow will pass on and help another soul live on. Whether it be through it's meat or the nutrients it provides the ground to provide plants and harvest. Teaching Lucy was hard without you. It made me miss you more. I know father misses you more everyday. It was nice to see Jasper though. I hadn't seen him in a few days. My past few days have been very busy. I have been making many pies and bread. Mrs. Whitlock wanted to give some to her friends. I have also been making potions for the towns people and their slaves.

"She made potions for the town?" I ask surprised.

"Yes, the town doctors even found her potions better then their medicine. They would even recommend her potions," Jasper tells us.

"They were that good?" Emmett asks.

"Let's just say Carlisle would be impressed and would use her potions if he could." Jasper says confidently and proudly.

"That's crazy," Emmett says.

The flu has been going around. So, I had to make a lot more flu relief then I normally would. The slave handlers in town are also starting to understand why my father treats the slaves the way he does. So, they are also getting potions from me to heal their slaves. They also come to me to make pies, cookies, and rolls. They were telling my father that it helps the slaves work more and harder.

"She was a town supplier for sweets." Emmett jokes like she is a drug dealer.

"Yes, she loved baking so she would give sweets to almost anyone. When she was walking around the town, she would bring a bag of cookies with her to give to the children. All the kids knew they could get cookies off her by the third week that she was in town. Any family knew if they were hungry, she would have bread, butter, and rolls for them. A lot of the time that was all a family needed to get through till the husband got paid. While the rest of the country was starving, she made sure our town wasn't. I was told that when I died the whole town was there for her as her father had passed away already. She never went without. The town made sure of that." Jasper tells us.

"Like La Push," I say. "From what I understand there is a woman like that there. She fosters some of the kids. She also provides food for the hungry there. That's what Carlisle was telling me. He says the Quileute's who are coming to see him are not coming as often. If they do come, they are also healthier in general."

"That's so crazy," Emmett says.

With the war thins are getting harder. Less food here. I do hope it gets better.

I love you,

Grace

"She is so strong," I say "I feel like that I understand your love for her now. I never understood cause you have Alice now. But Alice doesn't even come close to Grace. I would have love Grace as a sister. I know she would have done everything she could to make our family happy. Not just putting up with our situation, but actually happy."

"Yeah, the love I have for Grace is incomparable to the love I have for Alice. Not even on the same scale. Where Alice lacks Grade had in spades. They are night and day from each other." Jasper says.

"Then why do you stay with Alice?" Emmett asks.

"Because Alice is my mate. Alice keeps telling me I have to give grace up, but I don't think I can," Jasper admits. "I've been thinking this for a couple of decades now. But I am not sure if Alice is my mate."

Jasper drops this bomb on us. "Why would you think that?" I ask gently.

"Because the way you feel about Emmett is not the way I feel about Alice and not the way she feels about me. Our mating is different then others. We never marked each other." Jasper says sadly.

"Oh my god," Emmett says shocked "Then you aren't mates. Carlisle told us when you meet your mate you get this urge to mark them. As a vampire it's all consuming."

"We have never had the urge. Well, I shouldn't say that. When I wanted to mark her she said that it was too monstrous and that it would damage her beautiful skin. Making her ugly," Jasper explains.

"But you have scars," Emmett says.

"And she feels discuss every time she looks at them. She tells me to cover them when she is around." Jasper says looking defeated. I move closer to him and give him a hug holding him tight. I feel him start to shake and dry sob into my shoulder.

"I miss Grace so much. She wouldn't care about scars. She would tell me to be proud of them because they show strength. When I was down about anything she always knew just what to say," Jasper cries. Jasper eventually calms down. He decides to go have some alone time in his office.

"I think we should try to find what happened to Grace. Maybe give him a place to mourn her and talk to her." Emmett says.

"I couldn't agree more." I tell him. "Let's have Carlisle look into death records. See if he can find where and when she died."

"That's a good idea," Emmett tells me. "But we can't let Jasper know what we are doing."

"No, we can't" I agree. We head downstairs to see if Carlisle is home. I see Esme reading on the couch.

"Is Carlisle home?" I ask her.

"No, is there anything I can help you with?" Esme responds.

"No, I need Carlisle. Will he be at the hospital late?" I ask.

"Yes, he has a late shift," she says.

"Okay," I say taking Emmett's hand and leaving the house. We get in my car and drive to the hospital. We run past the front desk to Carlisle's office. I knock on the door.

"Come in," I hear him say. "Rose what are you doing here? Are you alright?" He says after I open the door and we go in.

"Yes, we are alright." I tell him. "I wanted to see if you could find a death certificate for me."

"May I ask why?" He asks pulling up a search to look.

"It's Jasper's wife," I tell him.

"Jasper's wife?" Carlisle asks shocked.

"Yes, Jasper's wife," Emmett says.

"I don't have a death certificate here. It could just not be in my system, as it is too old. Try the government. They might have something," he explains.

"Alright," I say we leave and drive to the local government office in Seattle. I look at the clock and notice its only two in the afternoon. We probably left Carlisle with more questions then answers. We walk into the building and greet the lady at the front desk.

"Hello, I am hoping you can get a copy of a death certificate for me. My foster brother is a huge history buff. So, I decided to make his family tree. I have found everything, but one death certificate." I ask.

"Alright. The name please?" She says.

"Grace Whitlock," I tell her.

She types on her computer and clicks a few things.

"There doesn't seem to be one in the system. It could mean it was just never put in. Sorry about that." She says.

We leave and get back in the car.

"Is there a chance she is still alive?" Emmett asks.

"No, she would be over 170 years old. That's impossible." I tell him.

"We're still aliveish."

"That is a good point, but if she was a vampire, we would know, wouldn't we?"

"We don't know every vampire."

"That's true," I say. We drive back home.

"What's the next step then?" Emmett asks.

"We will have to track where she has been."

"How will we do that?"

"We will have to check records. I'm thinking business tax records to find out where she went after Jasper died and what happened." I say.

"Will we have to go to Texas?"

"No, probably not. We can look that stuff up online. It's a matter of public record."

We arrive back home, and Alice is standing in the driveway. "Where did you go?" She demands to know.

"Seattle." I tell her.

I'm not going to give her any information. I know she will be against finding Jasper's wife. She hates Grace. She has complained enough about Grace in the past. I personally think she is manipulating Jasper to become who she wants. I think she wants him as a mate, but knows he isn't. there is no way she would tell him not to mark her and not know that he is not her mate. If it is possible that Grace is still alive, I hope she is his mate. He deserves his happily ever after.

I head upstairs to my room and pull out my laptop. I type Grace Whitlock into the government website. I look for company tax records. I see that she opened a shop in New York. I keep digging and digging. She had a successful shop in New York.

She then opened a healing shop in New Orleans. Her shop seems like a big success wherever she is. She also seems to file her taxes no matter what. I look through so man company tax records. I come across one that does confuse me. It is a bakery in Salem, Massachusetts that was owned by a Grace Jasper. There is also another woman by the name of Grace that owns a healing shop somewhere else. I honestly think it is Grace Jasper. It is too much of a coincidence for a Grace to have the last name Jasper.

I think that her using the last name Jasper just goes to show that she still loves him and that she never stopped. She seems to stay in one place longer then we do by many years. She is generally in a place for 30 years or more.

The last record I have found is from 20 years ago. I wonder how she fakes getting older of maybe living in the bigger cities is easier. Less people questioning her. I see a news article here how the bakery fed the homeless. That definitely sounds like here. So, I did choose the right Grace to follow.

I keep trying to find more information. But I can't find it. Emmett comes up to join me.

"What are you up to babe?" Emmett asks me quietly so only I hear. We don't want the rest of the house to hear us talking.

"I'm looking up tax records for businesses that Grace would have had." I reply just as quietly.

"You think that she is alive?"

"I know she is alive. Well, I knew she was 20 years ago. I've lost her now."

"Look for her personal taxes."

"I can't look up personal records."

"I can hack for it." He offers

"I wouldn't normally be okay with that, but in this case yes." I tell him.

Emmett pulls out his laptop and starts typing. "What are her possible names?"

"She is always Grace, but it will be either Whitlock, Daniels or Jasper." I tell him.

"She always has a piece of Jasper's name in her name?" He asks me.

"Yes, I think she still loves him."

"I found her! She goes by Grace Whitlock in La Push, Washington. She's a foster mom now." Emmett exclaims quietly.

"She's in La Push?" I ask him.

"Yes," he says. We both look at each other in shock that she is so close.
