Little Sword Art Online story I wrote up focusing on Kirito and Asuna. I'm sorry if it's terrible. ^^;

Disclaimer: I don't own Sword Art Online.

"Wow... Aren't the stars so beautiful?"

Asuna Yuuki's brown eyes twinkled with awe as she gazed up towards the starry night sky. The brunette was in deep amazement at the sight she was overlooking from the cliff top. Her gaze of wonder drifted over the countless stars before settling onto the moon. It was looming high over the ocean in its full glory. Its reflection shimmered on the surface of the sea, which glistened in the luminous silver light.

The brunette-haired warrior was mystified. It was surreal to find such a wondrous, almost enchanted atmosphere in Aincrad Online. With no brutal battles to survive and merciless enemies to fend off, the game could be so peaceful at times.

She was pleased to be alone on such an amazing night - with the very person who was by her side.

A sudden breeze blew from the sea towards Asuna, causing her long brown hair to dance in the wind. Goosebumps ran over her arms as she shivered from the cold - before feeling an arm being wrapped around her shoulders.

With her cheeks heating up as they turned bright red, Asuna turned towards the person who was sat by her side, holding her closely to him.

"Kirito?"

Kazuto Kirigaya's gaze was on the girl right next to him. He had no interest in the moon and the stars; only on the young lady he was in the company of. His dark brown eyes were focused solely on her. Asuna could see they were shining in the dark as he kept them fixed to her.

"Something on your mind?" she asked softly.

Kirito nodded, rubbing Asuna's shoulder affectionately with his hand as he kept his arm wrapped around her.

"Asuna..." he began. "You know ... how precious you are to me, don't you?"

The brunette's eyes widened, astonished by the boy's words towards her.

"I ... I am?"

"Yes." Kirito nodded. "If I hadn't decided to enrol in Aincrad Online, I would never have met you. You'd be trapped here on your own, having to face all the dangerous without me."

Asuna could tell there was concern in Kirito's tone over what he was suggesting. An assuring smile crossed her face.

"It's okay, Kirito. I'm a big girl. I can fight and take care of myself. You of all people should know that by now!"

"I do. I know you well, Asuna. I know you even better than I know myself." Kirato unwound his arm from around the girl's shoulders to take her hand in his own. "And I'm really glad I know you. You're more precious to me than anything."

Asuna's smile disappeared as her mouth fell open. Kirito's words were turning her cheeks even redder.

"I know now how dangerous it is out here. There's lethal threats and enemies around every corner. This game is one where the player must win or die..."

Kirito's eyes narrowed as they filled with determination, staying fixed to the beautiful girl by his side.

"I don't care what lethal threats this game will throw my way, Asuna, because my number one objective - is to protect you!"

A soft gasp escaped Asuna. Her heart raced inside her chest. She was deeply moved by what had been declared to her by the young boy - who always managed to make her feel safe, no matter the dangers that came their way.

"Kirito..."

"I mean it. I swear on my heart that I will not let anything happen to you." Kirito held Asuna's hand to his chest, allowing her to feel his own heartbeat. "I swear, I am gonna make sure you make it to the end of Aincrad Online. You are gonna finish this game, Asuna, and you are gonna leave here alive."

As he faced the young woman with all his sincerity, the sides of Kitaro's lips curled upwards, forming a smile which he directed to the love of his life.

"I promise..."

Now overwhelmed by all she had been told by the one so special to hear, Asuna allowed the tears that had been building up in her eyes to flow down her cheeks. She smiled in return at Kirito, grateful for all he had told her. She was so pleased that of all the players she could have partner's with to make it through the game, she had been paired with the one so determined to protect her.

Leaning towards him, Asuna wrapped her arms around the boy. She held him closely as she embraced him tight, wishing she never had to let go.

"Thank you, Kirito..." she whispered. "I love you..."

Kirito ran his fingers through the girl's hair, smiling warmly as he hugged her back, feeling like he could hold her forever in the safety of his arms.

"I love you too, Asuna..."

As the moon continued to loom over the ocean, the silhouettes of the embracing couple were cast upon it. They held onto one another for a few more seconds, then pulled away slightly to gaze eye-to-eye with each other - before pressing their lips together to share a deep, passionate kiss in the moonlight.

Thank you for reading. Again, I'm so sorry if this was awful!

Bye for now!
