Episode TWO of Sonic Adventures! As I reread through the 2015 original/rewrite, I realized that this story really needs to be fixed. I got so lazy last time with the script format and forgetting to edit my author's notes, and I also lost an important chapter when rewriting that version, and I didn't know how to start it from fresh! Hopefully, you all will enjoy this version instead. Let's get on with the story!

Tuesday, August 17, 1999; 4:30 p.m.

Sonic Mc'Newman the Hedgehog, along with his little sister, Sonia, and his mother, Aleena, enter the front building of Emerald Elementary. Why? School doesn't even start until tomorrow! Well, on the last day before the school year begins, all of the families or parents/guardians crowd around in the front office to hear from the principal on what class their child/children will be in for the next nine months. Aleena sure hopes Sonic will be in a good class and have a nice teacher. Even though the young boy was in preschool for two years before moving to Station Square, this is going to be his first time going to a real school. Sonic's really excited about it, and he can't wait to have an awesome year.

When the hedgehogs finally reach the front office, they whitness about ten different families lining up in front of the secretary's desk, eager to hear and see what their child's class is. Sonic groans and complains to Aleena, "Come on! There's a line?!"

"You have to be patient, Sonic," says Aleena. "Lots of families want to know about their kids' classes, too."

"So do I!" the blue kid says back.

"Sonic," Aleena tells him with a firm voice. "the world does not revolve around you. How about instead of getting upset, we can play a game to pass the time?"

"What can we even play?" Sonic wonders. "We'll be in line forever!"

"We can play the alphabet game," Aleena happily suggests. Sonia cheers, and the lavender hedgehog tells her, "Sonia, since you're younger, you get to go first. 'I went to the grocery store and bought an...'"

Sonia starts thinking, though not very well. She'll be three years old in a little over a month, and she still doesn't know the first letter of the alphabet (which is probably normal at that age, anyways). Sonic looks down to his sister and says, "Come on, Sonia. What's the first letter of the ABC's?"

"A!" Sonia happily answers.

"Very good!" Sonic says with a smile. "Now what food starts with 'a'?"

"Apple," she answers.

Aleena claps with joy. "Very good, Sonia!" she compliments her daughter. "You're so smart!"

The game goes on for a few minutes. Sure, Sonia struggled here and there (such as forgetting a letter or being unable to pronounce a word correctly), but Sonic steps in and helps her, like a big brother should. The hedgehog family finally make it to the secretary's desk.

The secretary is a human woman, presumably in her 40's, with brown eyes shielded by rectangular glasses and brown hair tied in a neat bun. She is wearing a pink sweater over a white top, a black knee-length pencil skirt, and black two-inch pumps.

She sees Aleena and smiles. "Hello," she greets her.

"Hi," Aleena says back. "I'm Aleena Mc'Newman, and we want to know what my son Sonic's class is this year."

The secretary's face lights up. "Ah, Sonic Mc'Newman," she says, seeing the blue hedgehog. "Principal Brown told me about you."

"She has?" Sonic questions. She must've told her about Dr. Robotnik barging in here last week.

The human, however, doesn't answer back, as she has just found a sheet of paper listing a class. "Ah, here we go," she says, skimming through the paper. "Sonikku Mc'Newman will be in Room 1 with Miss Hardberry. She's new here, and I hear she's really nice."

Sonikku? Right... 'Sonikku' is Sonic's birth name, and since it's such a hard name to pronounce and remember for most people, the blue hedgehog just goes by 'Sonic'. That's what happens when your birth name is the Japanese word for your nickname.

"That's great!" Aleena says. "Do you know if she's here? We really want to meet her." More like, she wants to meet her. Sonic and Sonia don't really have a choice here.

"The kindergarten hallway is right through that hallway," the secretary explains, pointing towards the connecting hall from the office. "Room 1 is on the third door on your left, right next to the waiting room."

Aleena thanks her, and she takes her kids through the hallway to Room 1. The hallway is filled with three other kindergarten classrooms, one of them being exclusively for special needs kids, and two restrooms. At the end of the hall, is a sign on the door that says 'Waiting Room'. Kinda weird that this school has a waiting room of all things and that it's so big, but at least it's unique.

The door to Sonic's classroom opens, and a female orange fox walks out, closing the door. She has a white muzzle, blue eyes, and she has shoulder-length hair, along with a small fringe. She is also wearing a yellow blouse, a jade green cardigan, a purple knee-length skirt, and black flats. She looks up and sees the hedgehogs, which startles her.

"Agh!" she lightly shrieks.

Aleena puts her hands on the fox's shoulders, calming her down. "It's okay," she says to her. "We just came over to meet you. You're Miss Hardberry, right?"

After taking a few deep breaths, she answers, "Yes. Why do you ask?"

Aleena places her hand on Sonic's blue head. "My son is starting kindergarten in your class tomorrow," she says.

Miss Hardberry takes a look at the young hedgehog. She smiles, "You must be Sonikku." She takes out her hand to give him a handshake. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"You too," Sonic replies back, shaking the teacher's hand. "but you can just call me 'Sonic'."

"Sonic is very excited to attend school," Aleena says to the fox. "It's all he's been talking about this week."

Sonic blushes at his mom's comment. He has to be honest, what she just said about him talking about school all week is true. Ever since he and his family moved here nine days ago, the first day of school has been all he's been talking about. Whether it would be during dinner, going shopping for new clothes, or playing with his best friend/neighbor Knuckles Shard the Echidna; he's just that excited to start school!

"Aw, that's so sweet!" Miss Hardberry exclaims. She then looks down at the five-year-old. "Well Sonic," she says to him. "I can't wait to begin class with you tomorrow."

"Same," Sonic responds, still blushing. The hedgehogs say goodbye to Miss Hardberry as she walks out of the hallway. Sonic turns to Aleena and says to her, "My new teacher's pretty."

Aleena's face lights up. "First crush, eh?" she wonders. She then switches to her firm tone of voice. "No dating until high school, okay?"

"Okay, Mom!" the small hedgehog replies.

Finally finished with this chapter! And it looks like Sonic has a crush on his new teacher... Anyways, what do you think of this story so far? If you like what you read, please consider liking, following, and reviewing the story, and I would greatly appreciate it if you follow my account as well.
