Wednesday, August 18; 7:55 a.m.

After Aleena finishes brushing Sonic's quills, she tells the blue hedgehog to wait outside so she can work on Sonia's quills. Today's the first day of school, and everyone decided to dress up really nice for the big day. For Sonic, he is wearing a white and red plaid buttoned-up polo shirt, light blue shorts, and his signature red and white shoes with the golden buckle.

Sonic walks out the front door and takes a deep breath, smiling. He can't believe it; he's finally starting school! He had a couple of old friends from his former hometown in Seaside City who were in elementary school, and he was envious of them. It made him wonder how school will treat him and why his old friends loved it so much. Now he gets to see why.

Across the street, his father, Jacob, walks back towards the Mc'Newman's house, holding Knuckles' hand. Jacob is wearing a blue polo shirt, light gray jeans, and brown hiking boots. As for Knuckles, he is wearing a black t-shirt with a few white diagonal stripes, brown pants, and his yellow and green shoes with the gray Lego piece on top.

Sonic waves to his friend. "Hi, Knuckles!"

"Hey, Sonic!" the red echidna says back as he and Jacob make it to the sidewalk.

Jacob then tells his son, "Knuckles will be joining us on the car ride. His mom needs to go to work early."

"Awesome!" Sonic comments. His day just keeps getting better, and it's barely 8:00!

Just then, Aleena and Sonia walk out the door to meet with the boys. The older female hedgehog is wearing a purple blouse tucked in a pair of peach trousers, and some purple and white tennis shoes. Sonia has her quills tied in two French braids, and is wearing a pink sundress and white sandals.

Aleena asks everyone, "All ready to go?"

Sonic excidedly hops up and down. "YEAH!" he shouts. "Let's go!"

He zips towards the car and sits in the middle seat. Since Sonia is still a toddler, Aleena buckles her into her booster seat on Sonic's right. And since Knuckles is slightly taller than the blue speedster, he takes a seat on the left side. Aleena takes the passenger seat, while Jacob takes the driver's seat and begins driving.

"I'm so happy to go to Kindergarten," Sonic says as he turns to Knuckles. "Aren't you?"

"Yeah," Knuckles replies. He then frowns, confused at what his friend just said. "Wait...Kindergarten?"

"Yeah, remember?" the hedgehog reminds him. "We're going to Kindergarten together."

"No... You're going to Kindergarten," says Knuckles. "I'm in 1st Grade."

"Oh," Sonic slumps, now feeling stupid. "What's 1st Grade?"

"Uh, the year after Kindergarten," Knuckles answers with additude. "Duh! Remember the sleepover?"

Right...the sleepover. Sonic had a sleepover at Knuckles' house on Monday night. The event was mostly filled with watching movies and playing on the Nintendo 64. The colbalt boy might've remembered Knuckles talking about going to 1st Grade, but he likely forgot.

"Yeah," Sonic nods. "Who's your teacher?"

"I got Mrs. Reed," answers the red echidna. "She's in Room 5. Who do you have?"

"Miss Hardberry," Sonic says. "She's in Room 1."

Knuckles scratches his chin. "Huh," he begins. "She must be the new Kindergarten teacher."

"She is," Sonic replies. "Mom, Sonia, and I met her yesterday. She's really nice."

Jacob parks the car in front of Emerald Elementary. "Here we are, kids!" he says to Sonic and Knuckles. "Ready for the first day of school?"

"YEAH!" they happily answer at the same time. Everyone gets out of the car and walks to the school building, ready to start a new adventure.
