A condor flies over South American mountains. A woman with a llama stands below. Sue Ellen is looking at a postcard of the woman at her desk.

Sue Ellen: " I remember like it was yesterday. I was in a good mood that morning, because the day before I had received a postcard from my friend Carlos, in Cochabamba, Bolivia. And it was a beautiful day. I remember that, too. Just a beautiful normal day in early spring. Who would have thought that this day would change so many people?"

Reads' House Kitchen

(David looks at the calendar and notices its April 9th)

David hesitates. " April 9th? Oh no... I completely forgot I have to cater a breakfast at Arthur´s and Michael's school!"

Arthur looks up. " Can we go with you in the van?"

D.W. turns to Jane. " Mom! Arthur's and Michael s crazy dog is staring at me again!"

Michael regrets. " It's only because you're eating so slowly. You're teasing him."

(Kate throws her spoon of baby food across the room. Pal catches the food.)

Outside of Muffy's Mansion

In front of the Crosswire Mansion, Bailey closes the limousine door. Muffy sits inside. Mr. Crosswire stands in the door waving.

Muffy smiles. " Bye-bye, Daddy! Have a great day!"

Binky, Walking to School

Binky comes by a house and sees a newspaper sticking out of a bush. He throws the newspaper on the porch, then he kicks over a garden gnome.

Binky laughs)

The house owner came out. " Hey!" (Binky runs)

Buster's Condo

(Alarm clock is ringing, Buster sleeps through it, snoring.)

Downstairs Ashley hugs Bitzi. " Bye auntie-mom! Buster is oversleeping again."

Bitzi noded. " Maybe you should waiting, i don't want you walking to school alone."

Ashley giggles. " But auntie-mom, Jesse is waiting for me outside!"

Bitzi smiles. " Oh, alright, Ashley have a good day at school! Greet you´re cute boyfriend from me!" She winks.

Lakewood

Everybody: (talking)

Mr. Ratburn hold up a staple of papers. " Alright class, I have the results of yesterday's vocabulary quiz. Not bad overall, or should I say.. passable, which was a word most of you got wrong. (sniffs the air) What's that smell?"

(Fire alarm goes off)

Francine wonders. " What's going on?"

Binky yells. " Ahh!"

Sue Ellen frowns. " Hey! I smell smoke."

Binky noded. " Me too."

(Mrs. Fink's class is walking past)

Mr. Ratburn raises his hand. " Alright children, remain calm. Form a line at the front of the class. (fire bell rings) Okay class, follow me, and don't run." (opens the door)

Sue Ellen gasps) (forgets her backpack, in the back of the classroom)

Mr. Ratburn looks over. " Stay in line, Sue Ellen."

Michael turns to Arthur. " Arthur don't look up just follow my voice." He walks backwards to protect Arthur from seeing the flashing white lights of the alert.

(The class evacuates, but Binky stops when he notices smoke wafting in the air...)

Buster:-April 9th-

(The class is still in the corridor. Binky sees Mr. Morris closing the door of a burning room.)

Binky shivers. " Ohhhhhhhh..."

Mr. Ratburn waves to him. Come along, Binky."

(Fire department is there, along with the mothers of George and Muffy)

Firefighter 3 talks into his com. " Roger, we'll send someone around to go in the side door."

Mr. Morris lies in an ambulance. " Oohh..."

Binky seems worried. " Is Mr. Morris gonna be okay?"

A paramedic smiles friendly. " He'll be fine, he just injured his leg. He was very lucky."

Arthur talks to Betsy, a firefighter. " You don't understand, my dad's still in there. He needs help!"

Betsy nodes. " Don't worry, Arthur. My crew is looking for him. They're gonna get him out."

Arthur tries to enter the school entrance. " Can I just see him?" (Betsy holds Arthur back)

Betsy Said. " Stop! It's not safe to go in there yet."

Michael wraps his arm around his brother. " Arthur, dad will be alright, i know it."

Arthur looks at him. " Michael how would you know?"

Michael smiles. " Big brothers always know. Shh Arthur just wait."

Ashley and Jesse came over, the rabbit-girl was shocked. " Michael, is Arthur alright he seem a bite shaking!"

Michael noded. " Arthur is fine just a bit worried, dad is inside, the firefighters search for him. " Ashley, where is Buster?"

Ashley sighs. " Buster overslept today. Know what, i overheard Mr Ratburn talking to my teacher about going to Mighty Mountain tomorrow as the damage is too big. But we will be split into diffent classes. I hope i get with Jesse in one classroom."

Michael frowns. " No way, that won't happend tomorrow is Saturday, weekend!"

Ashley facepalms. " sorry, I'm a bit confused of this. Then they meant Monday."

Jesse looks at Arthur. " Arthur, hey, calm down, the firefighters will get your dad out, those guys are heroes."

Ashley wraps her arms around him. " This is so scary!" He fondles her hair. " All fine, I'm here!"

(A firefighter throws out a chair, along with Sue Ellen's backpack)

Sue Ellen gasps. " My journal!"

(Firefighter hoses the pile of chairs and the backpack)

Sue Ellen sobs, her parents comfort her)

(David Read comes walking out of the school, coughing)

Arthur & Michael yelled at the same time. " Dad!"

(David hug both boys )

David smiles. " I am alright, now you two let's head home alright?"

(The firefighters leave. Francine stands in front of the cordoned off school. Buster comes running.)

Buster was confused. " What's going on?"

Francine took a breath. " There was a fire in the school. I think our classroom was pretty badly damaged."

Buster looks at her. " A fire? In the school? Aw, it's not fair!"

Francine frowns. " It'll be alright, Buster."

Buster noded. " Aw, I know. I just can't believe the biggest event of the year happened and I slept through the whole thing!"

...Arthur and his friends sat at the bottom of Arthur's and Michael`s tree house.

Francine looks at the others. " I can't get over it. We were in that classroom just yesterday, and now it's all burnt!"

Buster noded. " And Monday we're going to school at Mighty Mountain! Have you seen those kids? They're huge!"

Arthur shrugs. " I'm just happy my dad got out okay. He could have been really hurt."

Michael agreed. " Yes, as i said to you, but I'm glad too! A fire is a dangerous thing."

Binky sighs. " Yup. Those flames were spreading pretty fast.

Arthur widen his eyes. " You actually saw the flames? Michael was blocking me causse of the flash lights!"

Francine gasps. " No way!"

Buster was nosy. " What'd they look like?"

Binky waves it away. " Heh, it was no big deal!"

Ashley looked over. " Really? Weren't you scared?"

Binky smiled. " Nahh. Takes more than a little fire to scare me."

Francine shook her head. " Oh come on, Binky. You must have been a little scared."

Binky shook his head too. " Nope."

Buster blinks. " Wow, I know I would be. With all that black smoke around and the suffocating heat and the-"

Binky interrupts him. " Knock it off! I said I wasn't afraid, end of conversation!" (takes Buster's ice cream cone and walks away)

Buster was confused. " What's gotten into him? He usually just takes the top scoop."

(Sue Ellen is in the treehouse, crying)

Muffy was confused. " Why is she still upset? It's just a journal. You can buy them at any stationery store."

Francine looks up annoyed. " She's had that journal since first grade, Muffy."

Buster shrugs. " I've kept a cupcake since first grade. Well actually, it's just half a cupcake. I ate some of it last week, and you know what? The icing was still soft."

(Everybody is grossed out)

...At the Barnes house.

(Binky is flipping through the channels: a screaming rabbit, a cooking show, a stand-up comedian, a ninja movie, a train racing towards a living room. Mrs. Barnes comes in.)

Binky's Mom smiles. " Here honey, some oatmeal cookies? I just baked them."

Binky noded. " Sure! Thanks, Mom!"

(Binky goes to Bionic Bunny)

Bionic Bunny stood heroic in front of a little girl. " Fear not little girl, your kitten is saved!"

Binky cheered. " Cool, Bionic Bunny!"

Little Girl smiles. " Oh thank you, thank you! I don't know what I would have done if I had lost Fireball!"

Bionic Bunny wonders. " Hmmmm.. Fireball... Fireball... where have I heard that name before? I've got it! It's the name of the cat of my old arch-villain, Hothead. Hahaha. What a coincidence. Wait, that's no coincidence!"

(The girl transforms into Hothead)

Hothead laughed. " Yes, my long-eared friend. We meet again."

(Bionic Bunny fights with Hothead)

Hothead winks. " Is it getting hot in here? Or is it just YOU..."

(Binky looks horrified and sweats. He runs away.)

Binky's Mom came in. " Binky, I thought you might like some-" (The TV is still on but Binky's seat is empty.)

...Meanwhile at the Reads House

The principal of Mighty Mountain had send Jane a email about the class schedule for the next few weeks. When Jane see that Arthur is In Special ed class she calls the principal to ask about it.

It rings, then someone took the call. " Mr. Kevin."

Jane pulled up the email. "Yes principal Kevin, this is Ms. Read. I got a question. Why is my son Arthur next week in a special ed class?"

Principal Kevin clears his throat. " Ms Read, we decided to do so after we get the medical report. Caused by his seizures, it seems he is a bit slow. It will help Arthur in the long run the work is the same just more slow pace. I read his school files, I'm sure he will get back to his former learning speed. Now, was he tested for any learning issue after his seizure?"

Jane replied. " No he wasn't, but we just been have a hard time getting Arthur to focus on his spelling and math work. "

Principal Kevin thinks for a moment. " Trouble to focus, has he alway had troubles focus on school work in the past?"

Jane sighs. " No, never until now!"

Principal Kevin answers. " Alright, i talk with Ms Jennifer Monday before school starts."

Jane sighs in relief. "Thanks this would be the first time Arthur and Michael are in diffent classrooms. They never were divided before."

Principal Kevin thinks again before he answers. " I know, i tell his teacher about it. See the kids come into school not later than 8'am Monday morning. We can talk on Monday morning Ms. Read. Some more questions?"

Ms. Read made a note. " No, Mr. Kevin, thanks. See you Monday, a nice weekend."

" You too, Ms. Read, and for Arthur ad Michael too. Goodbye." Principal Kevin hang up.

... Monday morning in Mighty Mountain school

Ms. Jennifer gets the chalk and walks over to the blackboard. " We are going to play alphabet games and put it into a song."

A knock on the classroom door interrupts her.

Mr. Kevin came in with Arthur. "Ms. Jennifer, excuse me for interrupting you. This is Arthur Read. Arthur this Ms. Jennifer, your new teacher for the next few weeks."

Arthur was confused. " But I m not needing special education, Mister Kevin!"

Mr Kevin noded. " Arthur please, it's just for a few weeks Ms. Jennifer is a very good teacher and it is only for short time."

Ms. Jennifer smiles. " Arthur, welcome to my class. I'm sure you are a bit frightened about being in a new school and classroom on a Monday but no worries, all will be fine."

Arthur sighs. " But can my brother Michael be with me? We were never separated before."

Mr Kevin shook his head. " sorry, but this is not possible Arthur! But you will see him in the breaks. Now, have fun and you will see, it´s not that bad."

The principal left the classroom.

Ms. Jennifer turns to her class. " Boy and girls, I would like you to meet our new student Arthur! He will be with us for a few weeks."

Violet waves with a smile. " Arthur! I thought i told you i am in Special Ed class. You can sit with me!"

Arthur walks over and sat down. " Well, I'm happy to see someone i know!"

Late on Mighty Mountain kids are picking on George, one of them is Sam Scarborough)

Binky came over to them. " Hey! You can't pick on George, he's in my class! Only I can pick on him!"

(Bullies walk away, and George gives Binky his snack)

Binky smiles. " Thanks!"

Muffy Offers Sue Ellen a New Journal

Muffy smiles. " Here. I was going to wrap it, but I couldn't find any paper that matched."

Sue Ellen looks over and frowns. " What is it?"

Muffy hands it over. " A new journal, with acid-free paper and a faux velvet cover. You seemed so upset about your old one. I thought this would cheer you up."

Sue Ellen shook her head. " Thanks, but I don't want it."

Muffy was surprised. " You don't want it? Why? This is much nicer then that ratty thing you had."

Sue Ellen stood up. " That ratty thing I had was filled with personal stuff. Stuff that can't be replaced. But thanks for the thought, Muffy." She left the table.

Muffy shouts and stood up too. " THIS WASN'T CHEAP YOU KNOW! EIGHT DOLLARS! AND IT WAS ON SALE!"

Buster Talks to Mighty Mountain kids about the fire.

Buster raises his hands. " Smoke was everywhere. You could hardly see your own hands!"

Mighty Mountain kids gasp in shock.

Buster looked around. " Suddenly, the whole wall burst into flames! I ran as hard as I could and then I-"

Arthur walked over. " Buster, what are you talking about? You weren't even there!"

Buster gets embarrassed. " Ummm... okay. I wasn't there. But these are all true accounts told to me by actual witnesses!"

Arthur shook his head, " No they aren't. Don't listen to a word he says, he made it all up."

The other kids seem annoyed. " Awww man!" They walked away.

Buster smiles sheepishly. " What'd you do that for? They were really enjoying the story!"

(The end-of-recess bell rings)

Arthur looks stern at Buster. " Because it's not a story. It really happened! Do you realize my dad could have been really hurt in that fire?"

Buster sighs. " Oh. I guess I never thought of it that way. How 'bout I just tell the part where the brave firefighters used axes to chop through the doors and then they-"

(Arthur walks away. " Do whatever you want Buster. I don't care!"

Michael came over. to the kids " Sorry about my little brothers outburst! But Buster wasn´t in school during the fire."

Amy, a sheep-girl, looks at him. " Everything is alright. Your brother still just freaking out about the fire i guess. Does he have nightmares?"

Michael shook his head. " No, I'm thankful he´s not! Our father was in school that day, we were all a bit confused from this all!"

...At the cafeteria of Mighty Mountain during lunch time

Ashley and Hannah looked for a place to seat with their tablets, the cafeteria was very crowded. When they pass the tables, a fox-boy waved friendly. " Hey, Lakewood, you can sit here with us!" He and a badger-boy sat alone at the table. Ashley noded and both girls sat down. Hannah greets with a smile. " Thank you guys! With our school here it´s very full!" The fox shrugs. " Well, new people mean new stories." He smiles at Ashley. " And sweet girls." Both girls giggling, Ashley reaches her hand. " Ashley Baxter!" Hannah did the same. " Hannah Stewart, we´re second graders." The fox shakes their hands, holding Ashley's hand a bit longer and smiles. " Royce Finnegan, we´re third grade." The badger waves. " Jasper Garland."

Ashley looked up and smiled. She raises her hand and smiles. " JESSE! HERE!" Jesse came over, Hannah turns to the boys. " Can our friend have a seat too?" Roye noded. " Sure!" Jesse sat down beside Ashley, she hugs him. Then they all started eating.

Then Royce looked up and turns to Ashley. " Hey, pretty girl, is it possible we meet after school, even when you back at Lakewood? You are very sweet, i must be honest!"

Hannah widens her eyes, Ashley blushes a bit and nearly swallows her lunch. " Uhm, thanks, but...i already have a boyfriend."

Jesse looks over and squints his eyes. " Yes, ME!"

Royce shrugs with a smile. " But maybe she can have a better one! One year older, taller, more handsome...oh wait, and more charming!" He winks at Ashley, the rabbit-girl was totally confused, Jesse grumbles. " Stop that, jerk!"

Ashley puts her hand on his arm. " Calm down, Jesse. You are my sweetheart, you know that!"

Royce shook amused his head. " Puppy love! Did he ever kissed you or woos about you? If you are my girlfriend, i bring you gifts as often as i can, and praising the floor you walk on, my sweet Ashley!"

Jesse jumps up. " WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I LOVE HER MORE THEN EVERYTHING!"

Suddenly it gets silent around them, several kids looking at their table. Ashley could see a lot of girls are smiling dreamily. Now she stood up and turns toward Jesse. " You, you said it!" She giggles. " I love yu so much too!" She wraps her arms around him and buried her face on his chest. " You are my lovely Jesse, no one else get´s through this!" She turns to Royce. " Take it, you can´t be like my Jesse, so forget it! Hannah, we look for another place to eat!" The other girl stood up too, all three get their tablets and leave Royce and Jasper. Ashley has grabbed Jesse´s hand and leaned her head on his shoulder.

Someone starts to applause. It was Muffy, one after another Arthur, Michael, Francine, Buster, George and Brain join her in applauding.

Soon all Lakewood kids and most of the Mighty Mountain kids applause. Royce covers his face in shame, Jasper stood up and join some other students, the fox-boy was alone now.

When Ashley, Jesse and Hannah sat down at a bench to eat, a marmot boys came over.

He waves to Jesse. " Hey buddy, that was great! I wish i have a girlfriend i can do that for!" He looks at Hannah.

Hannah looks at him and began to smile. " Hi, i m Hannah! That are my best friend Ashley and her boyfriend Jesse!" She winks. " I have no boyfriend! Wanna sit with us?"

The boy sat down and blushes. " I-I'm R-Robert Hunt, but y-you c-can call me, B-bobby!" When Hannah´s smile gets wider, he blushes more.

Ashley shares a look with Jesse and lowers her voice. " Uwu, you see it, seems like someone is in love with Hannah!"

Jesse noded while he fondles her hand. " Like me for you!"

Ashley giggles and cuddles up to her boyfriend. " You are so cute!"

...Dinner time at the Baxter´s house

Buster looks at his mom. " Mom, how come don't I feel as upset as the other kids about the fire?"

Bitzi shrugs. " Well it might be because you weren't actually there. But it's okay Buster, there's no one way you have to feel."

Ashley noded. " Yes it wasn't scary. Buster. We don´t saw the flames, luckily. But please, stop telling the other kids stories about the fire, it´s awkward!"

Buster noded. " Okay, little Smiley. I just wish I felt something about it all."

Bitzi pats his shoulder. " Sometimes it just takes some people a little longer than others to feel upset."

Buster looks up. " Really? Can it take days? Aw, I hope I don't get upset tomorrow afternoon, there's a two-hour Bionic Bunny special I wanna watch."

Bitzi smiles. " I don't know how long it'll take, sweetie. But you might wanna tape that special. There's something I'd like you to do tomorrow."

Ashley points with her fork on Buster. " Don´t think too much about it all, it can make you mad! Auntie-mom, can i call Jesse after dinner? It is about, uhm, our math homework." She scratches her head.

Bitzi noded and winks. " Sure, but not too long you little lovebirds!"

Ashley facepalms. " Auntie-mom!"

...Arthur's House at Night

David shuts off the light. " Good night Arthur. Good night Michael!"

Arthur smiles. " Good night, Dad. Oh dad, where's you're next catering job going to be?"

David noded. " I have one at the aquarium next week. A Convention of Deep Sea Fisherman."

Arthur frowns. " The aquarium? Good. I was worried that it might be at another school."

David shook his head. " Arthur, schools are safe places. The fire chief said it was just some faulty wiring. that all it was. I am alright."

Arthur sighs in relief. " I know, but I'm still happy you're not going back into a school. Good night."

(David shuts door)

Jane looks up when David came into the living room. " How was the talk?"

David nod his head . " All fine, but Jane, we have to think of something! Did you get a hold of the kids doctor?"

Jane noded. " Yes, if Arthur or Michel have any nightmare or is giving us a hard time about falling back to sleep she give me a name of a child therapist named Dr. Carlo to take both boys to!"

David sighs. " That is good to know."

...Arthur's Nightmare

A Pirate laughs. " And this one's from a moray eel."

Troll noded. " 18 stitches from that vicious cod."

A Diver joined them. " I have a minnow bite."

(Arthur's dad is preparing food, but a dolphin keeps splashing water that extinguishes the matches David is using to light his grill)

A Buff Pirate looks at David. " Aye, Read, Any more of them crabcakes about?"

David gets a bit nervous. " Coming right up."

(Octopus is eyeing Arthur's dad)

David gaps. " Argh Help! Somebody!" (gargles)

(Octopus drowns him, the pirates cheer the octopus on)

Arthur tried to help his dad. " Hey! That's my dad! Someone help me! Daaaad!"

The pirate shook his head. " Sorry lad, I can't let you go in there. It's too dangerous."

(Arthur wakes up)

Arthur gasps " Oh no! as he turn on the light."

Michael yawned and looked over. " Arthur what were your dreaming that scares you that much?"

Arthur shivers. " It was about dad, we have stop him next week at all cost from going that deep sea Fishman!" luncheon

Michael frowns. " Arthur it was just a dream go back to sleep. turn the lights off!" we have class in the Moring

Arthur regrets. "I wanted them on, please."

Michael turns around and closes his eyes. " As you want, Arthur, good night."

David came in. " Boys, is everything alright?"

Michael turns to the door and sighs. " Arthur had a little nightmare about you, Dad! And now he won't sleep with the light."off

David smiles. " Arthur it is 1'am good night, come on, it couldn´t be that bad." He turn the light off, but Arthur turns the light on again.

David sat down beside Arthur. "Arthur, i will sit with you till your fall back to sleep alright?" He reaches for the light switch.

Arthur took a deep breath. " Okay, but the light stays on, okay?"

David noded. " Alright Arthur, I'm here!"

Michael turns to the other side again. " Oh boy..."

The alarm clock changes from 1;40 am to 2: 01 Am. Arthur is dozing off.

The alarm clock changes from 2:59 to 3;01 am . Arthur paces up and down holding a juice carton.

Arthur: (sings:) "And on his farm he had some giraffes Ee-i ee-i O. With a..." Oh, forget it!

The alarm clock shows 6:58. Arthur plays with Bionic Bunny action figures.

Arthur yawns) I'll get you, Vermination. After I take a little nap.

just as sunlight came into the room

David looks at the alarm clock, it was 7 :15 am. His view of Michael who opens his eyes.

Michael rubs his face. " Hmm dad, you are still here i guess Arthur hasn't sleep well."

Arthur moans in his sleep)

David puts a finger on his lips. " Michael shh, you will awake him. come on We have time before you two must get ready for school!" He sneaks out of the room tune off the light and headed downstairs. Jane stood in the kitchen, feeding Kate in her arm with a bottle of milk. " What happened David? You stay the whole night with the boys."

David sighs. " Arthur had a nightmare that something happen to me and didn't fall asleep until 6:58 am but he won't sleep with the light off?

Jane shook her head. " Maybe is was just a one time thing."

Davied said i hope you are right Jane"

...Mr. Morris house

Late that afternoon (Buster visits Mr. Morris over his broken leg.)

Buster greets when Mr. Morris opened the door. " Good Afternoon Mr. Morris! My name is Buster Baxter. And I'm here to see how you're doing!"

Mr. Morris frowns. " Are you a doctor?"

Buster laughs. " Uhm, no! I'm a third grader from Lakewood Elementary School."

Mr. Morris smiles. " Good. The doctors say I gotta go easy on the sweets, but that Crosswire kid sent me five boxes of these truffle things. Take your coat off, make yourself comfortable!"

Buster was surprised. " Uhh thanks, but I've gotta meet someone. I just came to drop these off. They're from my mom."

Mr. Morris noded. " Oh, okay. (cough) Tell her thanks." (inhales from inhaler)

Buster looks at him. " Hey, I have asthma too! See?"

Mr. Morris smiles again. " Hey, I like your color choice. Do you also have allergies? I've got pollen, dander, and peanuts. But not chocolate. Thank goodness! (offers Buster chocolate) Here, have as many as you'd like."

Buster puts the flowers on the table and takes the chocolate. " Hmmmm. I guess I can be a little late."

...On Wednesday morning 7;30 am

David smiles. " Rise and shine Arthur, come on you will be late for school again. It is time to get up."

Arthur yawns. " W-w-what?"

David opens the shutters. " Good morning to you Michael!"

Arthur yawned louder. Michael stood up.

David turns around. " There you go now hurry up and get dressed i have to cheek on D.W."

Arthur blinks. " Okay!"

Michael smiles. " Good morning Arthur the sun is shining the birds are chirping and you are sleeping again oh brother!"

7;45 am

David came into the room. " Arthur are you still sleeping?"

Arthur open his eyes. " What?"

David shook his head. " I thought you were getting dressed!"

Arthur rubbed his eyes and yawns. " Me too, i fell asleep sorry!"

David laughed. " Tell you what, i will pack up breakfast, you get ready okay?"

Arthur stood up. " Okay!"

David left the room. " I can't keep come back in here Arthur i have to get my van ready before work!"

Five minutes later Michael came in. " Arthur?"

Arthur was surprised. " Who, what', where? Oh no, i fell asleep again!"

D.W. waved to her dad. " There is Emily Nanny bye Dad! I am just glad Preschool let us come back for awhile!" but half a day

Arthur came downstairs. " Okay, im ready, sorry."

David sighs. " Arthur we have get to work on this sleeping issues Ms. Jennifer won't be happy and i have to drive you both now!"

Arthur groans. " I hate being late for school!"

David node. " I know and I hate being late for work!" Here you go. Breakfast on the go.

...At Mighty Mountain during lunch time

Michael stood with Amy in the line. " Arthur loves ravioli. But he gets scared by the hot steam and stuff. And not mention the words dad and fire what are they making?."

Arthur stepped behind them, Amy turned around. " Arthur try the spaghetti and meatballs, they are spicy and delicious!"

The girl turns back to Michael. " Why were you and Arthur so late this morning?"

Michael looks back at Arthur who seems dizzy. " Well, he had an nightmare and can't sleep without light, so i can't find a good rest!

Everyone at the table giggles, Buster glares at her. " Ha, ha! Very funny, and who needs a half eternity in the bathroom every morning?"

Binky was reading. " What I did was dumb and dangerous. It was also mean to all the Mighty Mountain kids who had been really nice to me. I'm very sorry and I'll never pull the fire alarm when there isn't a fire again, the end."

Principal Haney noded. " I'm glad you understand the seriousness of this offense, Binky. But I have to admit, I'm still baffled. Why did you do it?"

While I was waiting for her to return, I'd shoot crumpled up balls of paper into the wastebasket, and I told myself that if I made more baskets than I missed, she would come home safely."

David goes on. " It seemed to work. Now, of course I was a pretty good shot. (throws cling wrap into a trash bin) But then one day, I forgot to do it. She was gone for 3 hours and I didn't shoot one basket. And you know what happened?"

(Sue Ellen sits with her friends in front of the treehouse and shows the design for a mural.)

(Arthur and Michel buys paint in a store.)

(Michel Arthur and D.W. bring the paint to Sue Ellen and they start painting the wall. Other kids join them.)

(The kids stand back and look at the three-part mural. It shows firefighters extinguishing the burning school, kids in front of Mighty Mountain, and kids in front of the reopened Lakewood Elementary.)

Early Monday Moring,

Arthur walks into his parents' bedroom. They are asleep.

Arthur said Mom! Dad! I m not tried

David said Ah, that's it! You need professional help. it seem like our little talk didn't help " last Thursday

Jane said You're going to dr Carlo Today.

Arthur said doctor but Mom i am not sick

Buster said Tell your readers to keep the bathrooms extra clean. Mr. Morris's leg isn't fully healed and I don't want him to work too hard.

Francine said How about you, Sue Ellen? What does it feel like to be back at Lakewood?

Sue Ellen said Great! Look what I found in the gutter! (holds out postcard) See? It's a llama. It's part of the postcard that was in my old journal.

Francine said writing) Diary Doomed, but Llama Lives. Hey, Binky! I'm writing a piece for the Frensky Star and what it's like to be back. Any thoughts?

Binky said No comment.

Francine said Well, can I at least take your picture?

Binky said places hand over lens and pushes camera away) No pictures either. I'm having a bad hair day. (Francine stares in shock)

(Binky stands in a hallway and stares at the room he saw burning during the fire. In it Mr. Haney sits down on a couch.)

Principal Haney said I like this new couch. So springy.

(Binky starts breathing loudly. He images smoke in the room and starts screaming.)

Principal Haney said Binky? Are you okay?

(Binky runs out of the school)

(Binky walks along a street. He starts crying as he puts a can in the trash.)

Oliver Frensky said I appreciate your dedication Binky, but shouldn't you be in school?

Binky said I can't go back there, I just can't! I keep on seeing flames and smoke and... school! (He starts crying again.)

Oliver Frensky said It's okay Binky. Believe me, I know how you feel.

Binky said You do?

Oliver Frensky said Sure I do. When I saw my first fire close-up, I had trouble sleeping for weeks. But after some time passed, I didn't feel so scared.

Binky said Why not?

Oliver Frensky said I did what we're doing right now, talking about it. Don't you feel a tiny bit better now that you told someone how you really feel?

(He sniffs.)

Binky said Yeah. But I still don't want to go back to school.

Oliver Frensky said How about this? I'll call Mr. Haney to let him know where you are. Then you can do the rounds with me. After that, we'll see how you feel. Sound good?

Binky said Can I operate the crusher?

Oliver Frensky said Only if you join the Union, Barnes.

The Welcome Back Party

Michael said Cake in the middle of math class? This has never happened before.

Buster said I know! He didn't even give us a quiz on the ingredients. Could I have two slices, please? One's for Mr. Morris.

Mr. Ratburn said Mr. Morris isn't in today Buster. In fact, he's not coming back.

Buster said Not coming back?

Mr. Ratburn said Yes, he's retiring. But you can have two slices anyway. It'll save you the trip for seconds.

at 2;pm Jane was driving Arthur to the hospital wanting him to go see Dr. Carole.

Arthur said "I can't believe you're making me do this Mom and dad! I was Planning to meet Violet at the Suger bowl! today

Jan said "This isn't a punishment, Arthur Dr. Carole is a therapist. you can go to talk about what you've been through."

Arthur said "I don't wanna talk about it, Mom. I just wanted to see my friends. I wanted things back to normal again"

David said "Then don't talk about it! Just go and listen!

Jan said Arthur It's really hard to see you in this much pain!

Arthur said "Fine, okay, I'm going! but I'm walking to the Suger bowl once we are home again Mom." Gets out of the car and goes inside the hospital.

David said Jan this just the First Meeting"

Jan said I know but Arthur is only 8 years old"

David said we better catch up with Arthur" you have the Paperwork"

Jan said yes' Let go"

Arthur said "I can't believe Mom and dad made me do this might as well get it over with sight" as he headed for the 6th floor. "

an hour late the Reads sit in the therapist's office for the first visit.

David said "He's been having trouble sleeping." with the lights off

Arthur said: "I'm fine. Really.

Dr. Carlo said: "You know what, why don't you let Arthur and I talk alone for a little bit? Would that be okay with you, Arthur?"

The parents leave the room.

Arthur said "Um alright"

Dr. Carlo said "Okay"

Arthur said "I'm not crazy, you know."

Dr. Carlo said "Who said anything about being crazy? Arthur's school fire can cause PTSD: How do you feel right now?"

Arthur said "Great... Okay, a little nervous, I guess."

Dr. Carlo said: "So tell me, what was it like when you first saw the fire" knee. kind of shocking, right?"

Arthur said "It was a little scary .'"

An hour later, Arthur said: "It every time i shut my eyes see more smoky and i hear the alarm I mean some days I just feel drained. I don't get joy from what I love to do. I feel lifeless, and everything has become meaningless. I don't know why I'm so sad or can't even feel glad. I've never felt this way before. Is that clock right? Have I been talking for an hour?

Dr. Carlo said: "Yeah, time flies when you're having fun, huh? And when you're in therapy. How are you feeling now?"

Arthur said: "Better. Hey, maybe I'm cured!"

( alarm. go off)

Arthur said what's that noise turn it off please moves to the edge of the couch.

Dr. Carlo closes the door, "Sorry about the Sound Arthur." they are upgrading the building Then Dr. Carlo sits down beside Arthur.

Dr. Carlo said "Arthur, listen. It's gonna take a little time to feel like your old self is aging It's not easy the first time go thought A traumatic school fire!

Traumatic ?" Arthur asked.

"Sometimes, even when things are at their most content on the outside, inside, we are still not as happy as we make ourselves out to be. I'm convinced that when you hear the alarm. just now it brought you back to fire right?" Dr. Carlo said

" Yet I feel anxious it might happen again. All of it was overwhelming. So much terror, anxiety, and rage. It isn't easy to process it all. Arthur said i just can't go back to Lakewood

Dr. Carlo said: "Arthur Post traumatic stress affects you physically as well as emotionally. It will take an unknown time to figure out how to pull yourself out. Don't expect it to be an overnight thing. Sometimes all you need is someone willing to listen but not judge."

"Like you're doing right now? " Arthur said with a little smile

"Yes, if you need to talk, I'm here. It doesn't just heal overnight. You'll have to do that on your own. Remember though. You'll do it in your own time. For now, try writing down how you're feeling. I have a Notebook that I want you to write in and I will check it over the next time"

Arthur said "I would but Mom has my and Michel pencils in her office.

Dr. Carol said "It's easy to slip into new habit Arthur, but we're gonna work on this together, okay?"

Arthur nods.

Dr. Carlo said: "Good now head to the waiting room so I can talk to your parents."

Jane said "How did it go?"

Dr. Carlo said "This will be a bumping road to recovery for Arthur. Some days he will be fine and will want to hang with his friends and other nights he may not sleep thought out the night and will want to sleep in a little. tell you what keep a eyes on the time see what time Arthur awaked without you calling him write them down you can used a little nightlight or a sleeping bag beside your bed.

Davied said i didn't mention this early but he and Michel had getting into a little fight the other night during dinner'?

Dr Carlo said you didn't raise your Voice'?

Davied said well yes ?

Dr Carlo said Davied next time just remove both boys from the table quickly and into another room and once the boys cool off they can back to the dinner and join you all or they can frished there dinner in the kitchen. but no dessert for act out they can't be reward.

3'30 pm

(Buster walks up to Mr. Morris' house. A mover walks out, followed by Mr. Morris.)

Mr. Morris said Careful with that one. My zydeco records are in it. Hey, it's Buster! Come on in! There's a couple of cream sodas and some onion dip left in the fridge.

(Buster walks in, only to find it's more empty than usual.)

Buster said Are you going on a vacation?

Mr. Morris said You could say that. A long vacation. I'm moving in with my daughter. She's got a ranch in New Mexico.

Buster said Why? Don't you like living here?

Mr. Morris said Sure. But it's time to move on. I've always had itchy feet.

Buster said I thought there was a powder for that.

Mr. Morris said It's just a figure of speech. It means you don't like to stay in one place for too long.

Buster said Oh.

Mr. Morris said To tell you the truth, I love living here. But I'm going to need someone to look after me for a while.

Buster said Well, I could do that. I'd look after you.

Mr. Morris said I appreciate that, Buster, but I think my daughter's better suited for the job. But there is something you can do for me. (walks over to grab and show an accordion) Her name's Beatrice. My daughter never cared much for the sound. I'd like to know she was in good hands.

Buster said Wow! This is beautiful! I'll take really good care of her.

Mr. Morris said Thanks. Bring her along when you come and visit me in New Mexico. Roswell's down there, amigo. That's the capital of alien sightings.

Late that Night

Arthur said Mom when is dad coming Home?

Jane said soon Arthur now time for bed alright you already had your Pill

Arthur said but Can i just stay up in till dad come home please Mom

Jane said oh alright Arthur just this Once.

Michael said but Mom it is a school night'?

Jane said Michael bedtime please

upstairs (Arthur's throwing crumpled up balls of paper in the trash bin, and gets a message from Buster on his Bionic Bunny Walkie-Talkie.)

Buster said Do you read me? Come in, Arthur.

Arthur said Hey, Buster.

Buster said What Cha doin'?

Arthur said Waiting for my dad to come home from catering Mr. Crosswires' birthday. But it's 9:30 already. How much cake can those people eat? Michel can sleep thought anything.

Buster said He'll be fine, Arthur.

Arthur said How about you? Why are you still awake?

Buster said I was thinking about Mr. Morris. I really miss him. You know, he'd still be here if it wasn't for that stupid fire.

Arthur said Yeah, but you two might not be friends. You only met because of that stupid fire.

Buster said That's true! Hey, you wanna hear me play Clementine on the accordion?

Arthur said Phew, he's home.

Buster said Oh. You probably wanna say hi to him. Well, good night.

(Arthur is about to run downstairs, then he gets back into bed.)

Arthur said Wait, Buster. Why don't you play Clementine for me?

(Buster starts to play Clementine)

Michael said work Thank Buster it put Arthur right to Sleep see you tomorrow night

Buster said night Michael"

Michael turn off the light quickly as he turn on the Night Light" good night Arthur sweet dreamer.

(Meanwhile, Sue Ellen sits on her bed and writes in her journal.)

Sue Ellen smiles. " This Friday, it will be one month since April 9th. So much has happened since then. I never wanna go through another fire. But I also never wanna lose this feeling that each day is special. That my friends are the best friends in the world. And that if we stick together, we can make it through just about anything." (She closes the journal, which now has the half-burned llama postcard glued to the front, and turns off the light.)
