Protectors: Tales of Paris

Chapter 11: Tales of the sportsball (a Super Bowl special)

Outside of a stadium in Paris, a bunch of citizens was gathered around and ready to watch a good sporting event. The people were drinking, eating, laughing, sometimes getting into fistfights over what team is better, just as tradition from days of old. And from one area of the parking lot, Tomoe Tsurugi was with her daughter Kagami as she brought all of her friends along to the event.

ALL OF THEM!

"Hey, thanks for inviting us over," Steven thanked Kagami.

"Of course," Kagami smiled at him. "Mother here bought a private box for today's football game, so I decided to invite you all over."

"Sounds like today will be a lot of fun," Connie said as she nodded in agreement.

"Kagami, there seems to be a problem," Tomoe said with a stern tone in her voice.

"Hai, okāsan?" Kagami respectfully answered her mother.

"You said you invited 16 others with you here today," Tomoe said as she slammed her wooden sword down. "Counting you, I smell 24 teenagers here."

"Mrs. Tomoe, if I may interject," Max asked of her. "There's well over a thousand people here. Your sense of smell might not work here."

"You bring up a good point, Max," Tomoe said as she sniffed again and proved him right. "Kagami, help your mother to the ticket booth."

As she said that, the 7 Americans were relieved that Max's plan worked as the others could not believe he got her to believe him. As Kagami helped her to the private viewing box and bought tickets for her booth for 1 adult and 24 teenagers, they all headed up and walked in. Tomoe put in a pair of noise-reducing headphones so she can better concentrate on the game's commentary without the other noises in the background. As she did that, every member of the Protectors started chatting up a storm as Star saw outside the window and looked down on the stadium.

"Hey, wait a minute," Star said as she looked on with disappointment. "This isn't a football stadium."

"Wait, what," Marinette said as she looked at Star. "What do you mean?"

"I think Kagami's mother got us tickets for a Soccer match by mistake," Star told Marinette as the other 16 miraculous heroes looked at their magical princess leader like she's was insane.

"Tell me you're joking," Alya said to Star.

"You did NOT just say that," Chloe semi-snapped at the princess.

"Yup, she screwed up," Kim added on.

"Uh oh...," Adrien stared in horror.

"Wait, what did I do?" Star asked curiously. "Marco?"

"Hey, I'm staying out of this one," Marco says as he holds his hands up in retreat.

"Marco..." Star cried out for him, not knowing what she did wrong.

"What DID she do wrong?" Tom asked.

"Committed a worse crime than anything Papillon has done," Alix answered the demon boy. "She called Football 'soccer'."

"Aren't they the same thing?" Tom asked again as Juleka chimed in.

"Not exactly..." Juleka stated.

"To us, this is one of our favorite sports, Football," Rose chimed in.

"What Star said was actually what she knew as Soccer, and the one with the brown oval thing is what they call a Football," Kim replied, showcasing his sports knowledge.

"And even I know that thing is NOT a ball," Chloe said as she whipped her hair back. "It's too egg-shaped if you asked me."

"Ok ok, I think I get it," Star said, thinking about it. "What we call Soccer is what you call Football, but you don't have the football I saw on TV in America."

"But we do have Rugby," Kim jumped back into the conversation.

"It's like your football, but without any of your protective gear," Ivan said, now joining the conversation.

"Sounds dangerous..." Steven said a bit horrified.

"Sounds like fun," Star said with stars in her eyes. "Maybe we should form our own Rugby team."

"Don't we usually clash with Papillon and Mayura's magical constructs every once a week as a team anyway?" Luka said as he was feeding Daizzi some food in the room.

"Yea, but it doesn't mean we cant have a little fun now," Star said as she sat down with some of the other friends. "Can't we?"
