Caulifla and Kale: What IF Chapter Eleven- "Therapy Sessions?"
[Being a therapist is hard. You have to be level-headed, honest to your patients, and will have to give them some advice on managing their emotions better. My name is June and this is the story of one patient, whose story is more "diverse" than the rest of the stories that I have heard in my life. I have worked with many sectorian citizens with their emotions. The most frequent ones are anger and sadness. They're the most "out-there" emotions in the community. The same goes for Saiyans, but anger seems to pop up from time to time. There is this one Saiyan, who interested me in trying harder. She has a family of four; she's one of the youngest members in her family; her father is a former assassin turned SDF Elites soldier; her rage...her rage is by far one of the more destructive that I have ever seen. Before we ever met, I told her mother to record any actions that she does for two weeks. This is before summer break began for most people. After seeing the actions of this young girl's actions, I know now that this is a challenge that I have to take on my own. I have others for my sessions, so this might be a bit more challenging for me to handle. I am a therapist, meaning that any mental challenge that I have to do, I'm going to DO it! We now begin the summer therapy sessions with the young Saiyan girl and two sectorian girls for my first day with them. Let's hope that everything goes fine. Wish me luck!]
SDF Therapy Building, June's Office (Two Weeks Later/Present Day)
June: (looks at Kale and two sectorian girls) Hello, girls. My name is June. I'll be your therapist for the summer break. I looked into your video feedback and there was a bit...fascinating to say at least. Let's start with our first Saiyan in the group. Introduce yourself to the rest of the group, please?
Kale: O-Okay. My name is K-Kale and I'm a Saiyan. I got into the program, due to be releasing my anger a lot lately.
June: (Writes some notes) Good, good! (looks at the sectorian girl on Kale's left) You?
?: My name is Claudia and I'm a sectorian. I'm here because I had a few arguments with a few sectorian males at my school. And my sister is injured, after one of the arguments. She was trying to stop me.
June: (Writes some notes) Good! (Looks at the sectorian girl on Kale's right) You?
?: My name is Rachel and I'm a sectorian. I'm here because I have a serious trust problem. I can't seem to get my head out of beliefs and if someone tries to prove me wrong, I have to punch them in the face.
June: (Writes some notes) Hm...(Stops taking notes) Okay! Now...I have to tell you what made you angry in the first place. Let's start with Claudia. (Reads her notes) "You got angry at one sectorian male for calling you fat and ugly"
Claudia: (Grunts) He was a total dick! I have thick hips, yet he calls me fat and ugly.
June: Hence why you...(Looks at the notes with one eye open) "Broke his wrist and beat him with a food tray out of a fit of rage?"
Claudia: Yes!
June: Now, Claudia? We have a no yelling rule in here. We have to keep our voices down. I'll read Rachel's notes. "You got angry over a sectorian male, who got a better grade than you and then, later on, made fun of you, having a grade lower than his.
Rachel: I studied for most of my time and he got a better grade than mine. I believed that he cheated and that's why I had to undress him for any notes under his clothes!
June: "No yelling rule?" I told this to Claudia and so are you. Lastly, we have Kale. "You got angry because...your father killed a bunny in front of you, while training and...you...y-you...(Looks at a picture of Hit's beaten up face) Oh...G-God!
Kale: (looks away) Uh...Yeah. I might have gone a bit too far with my anger. It was my first time being in the moment.
June: (Shakes her head, before looking at Kale with a smile) That's okay! We're here to get our (bleep) together! (Hands out a packet for the three) I want you, for your first summer break homework is to read this packet. This is like a journal but has some tools for you to use over the break. After you read the packet to the end, I want you to use two out of the many during your two-week check-in. Okay?
Girls: Okay! (bows down)
June: Great! You are heard by dismissed!
(Kale, Claudia, and Rachel leave the office)
[Being with those three girls over the next two to four weeks was a bit of fun. They worked on the packets that I gave to them, they did at least two tools from it, and they said that they felt okay with what the tools could do to them. My favorite one from the packet is the mindfulness tool. After the two-week homework assignment was done, we went on with mindfulness practice. Kale hasn't used this tool, but she did say that she is interested in doing it more. I taught her and the sectorian girls how to stay calm through the worst situations through their mindfulness practice. Think of the most presently good thing about your life and every negative feeling will come out of your system. I later told them to use this tool for the next two weeks as homework. Once they start to understand the mindfulness practice a bit longer, I will show them their greatest hobbies to use. Hobbies are objectives that interest you or make you feel happy for a long period. We go back to the office to see if they can stay calm through the various hobbies that I have picked from their profiles. Shall we?]
SDF Therapy Building, June's Office (Four Weeks Later)
June: (Watches Cladia punch a punching bag) See, Claudia? Your hobby of punching things needs to be tweaked a bit. Instead of punching a living being, you just need to punch something soft and...well not alive. Like this punching bag!
Claudia: Ugh! Ugh! Agh! (Punches the punching bag harder) This. Feels. Better! (Smiles at June) I can still punch and not hurt anyone! Thanks!
June: (Nods, before watching Rachel squeeze a stress-ball) Rachel? How's the stress-ball going?
Rachel: (Looks at June) I think that the stress-ball is working. Whenever I think of getting a bad grade or being mocked for getting a lower grade, I feel my hand getting tighter at squeezing the ball. (Smiles at June) Thanks!
June: (Nods, before looking at Kale and her stuffed bunny) I've heard that bunnies are your favorite animals, so I made this stuffed bunny plush for you to hug and comfort. This might take a while to-
Kale: (rips the stuffed bunny apart) YOU ARE A DEVIL! YOU DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE! (Takes deep breaths)
June: Kale! (Pats Kale on the back) What happened?
Kale: (Looks at June) I-I'm sorry. After seeing Dad kill that innocent bunny like it was nothing, I...my anger...and Dad's face...(Looks at the torn apart stuffed bunny) and...and...(Slowly makes an angry expression) I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! HE'S ALWAYS RUINING MY LIFE BY PUNISHING ME FOR NOTHING THAT I HAVE DONE! (Stomps on the stuffed bunny) I HATE BUNNIES NOW, BECAUSE OF HIM! I. HATE. HIM SO MUCH!
June: (Holds Kale in a full nelson) Kale! Stop! It's okay! We can try another hobby that you like! Just stay calm! Please!?
Kale: (Stops kicking around, takes some deep breaths, and looks at June) I'm sorry again. It's just that-
June: I know. I'll fix this. Now...(Grabs a piece of blank paper, colored pencils, and marker pens) I've also heard that you're a good artist. I want you to draw that horrible scene for me. (Gives the paper, colored pencils, and marker pens to Kale) And then, tear that image apart, just like you did with that stuffed bunny. To be completely free from negativity, you just have to take it on physically and mentally. Does this make any sense to you, Kale?
Kale: Um...(Looks at the paper, colored pencils, and marker pens in her hands)
June: Just try it at home and see how it goes. You will have another two weeks to do the other hobby that you like, so use those artistic skills to good use. Okay, Kale? We can make it! (Pats Kale on the back)
[After seeing Kale yell out her father's actions that made her angry in the first place has sparked an idea. For the final lesson, before these three girls go out of the world and use those tools, I have to put them to a test. So...I have called their most annoying, most anger-filled, and hardest triggers, who put them in this class, to begin with. It's not just any normal test. They have to face their triggers face to face...without getting angry at them. Challenging, right!? Now...I have to wait two weeks for the test to be made. I have a feeling that this test is going to change these girls' behaviors for the better! Cross your fingers for this one, folks!]
SDF Therapy Building, June's Office (Two Weeks Later)
[It's been two weeks, since the last meeting that we had. Their hobbies are starting to work on them, including Kale's. Her artistic skills have paid off. I talked to them about the final test, before I can declare them as being "cured" of their negative anger outbursts. I told them that I called their triggers for a special meeting. They have to talk to them for at least twenty minutes and it's over. If they do get angry, they have to stay in that location for another twenty minutes. Kale seems a bit nervous about who her trigger is, so it's not a surprise. I told her to be strong through it all and she can use her tools to help her. The same goes for the rest of the girls. After that, they left the office and into the assigned locations that I have put them in. For Claudia, I have called her a sectorian male, who called her fat and ugly. His name is Frites, and he still has that case around his broken wrist from earlier. Hope that Claudia remembers her training. For Rachel, I've called upon her trigger, who had a better grade than her. His name is Tyrone, by the way. The last test for Kale is very, very special for her. I just called...wait for it...her father! Since he was the only person who popped into Kale's head, I decided that he should come and talk to his daughter. Let's see from the camera feedback how Kale and her father are doing.]
Kale: (Sits on a chair, facing Hit, shaking in fear) Uh...H-Hi, Dad?
Hit: (Closes his eyes, crosses his arms, and sighs) Hi, Kale. June, your therapist told me that you need to pass a final test to pass this summer class. (Opens one eye and looks at Kale) Are you okay? With the class I mean?
Kale: Oh! Oh...Everything is d-doing fine. I...I-I...(Sees a vision of Hit smiling sinisterly, while holding a bunny in his hands) Ahhh…
Hit: Kale? What's going on? You seem like you're going to have an outburst. Remember your training. (Closes one eye and sighs) (What am I saying!? She's a Saiyan! Her anger almost got me killed! Because of what!? I almost pushed her to her breaking point! She was with Caulifla and she broke the rules of not leaving the house! Or this planet! UGH! I knew that I'm not built to be a father figure! Maybe...if I could…)
Kale: (takes some shallow breaths) He's looking like he wants to kill that bunny! I have to do something! What's one recently good thing that you've done!? Uh…UGH! I didn't do anything well this week! Oh! I can feel the anger coming out! (Sees a vision of Hit with a blooding knife and a killed bunny with an open gut) It's coming OUT!
June: (Watches Kale and Hit) Oh no. Kale's about to lose her cool. Better fix this. (Presses a button, resulting in a bucket to appear in Hit's and Kale's location) there. (Presses a button) Hit? Can you hear me?
Hit: (Presses onto his earpiece) Yes, I hear you. What do you need?
June: I put a bucket beside you. Do you see it?
Hit: (Sees the bucket beside him) Yes I...(Eyes widen, after seeing a live bunny) No...I can't.
June: Of course. Just pet the bunny in front of Kale and she'll be calm. She'll see that you're not as violent as you thought she did. This should work with what you've done to her.
Hit: (Sighs) Really? Do I have to do this?
June: Do it, or I will tell the captain about your "criminal record" that you kept to yourself for the last thirteen years.
Hit: (Makes an irritated expression, before shaking his head) Fine. I'll do it. (Lets go of the earpiece) I have to do this for my own sake...and Kale's
[I see Hit grab the bunny out of the bucket that I gave to him. If Kale sees Hit nurture the bunny in front of her, then she'll snap out of her negative visions. This will heal her violent anger outburst. I see Hit putting the bunny on his lap, telling Kale to stay calm, and petting the bunny! This is working! Kale seems to be calming down from this. I hear her saying, "Dad? Do you...care about that bunny? Or are you...pretending to like it? I know that I tried to kill you for what you've done, but...with the therapy sessions, I feel uncomfortable about what you did, but not completely. Dad? I'm sorry for attacking you nearly two months ago." Hit said, "It's okay, Kale. I'm not the best father to have, but I tried to be one. I'm sorry for pushing you too far. I thought that my punishments were doing okay for you and Caulifla, but I just made it worse. What's worst is that Caulifla is being nicer to me...with that smile on her face. Ugh! I'm going to tell her that being prideful is okay, it's just that she needs to turn it down a notch. As for you, Kale...you're okay being yourself. You don't have to be aggressive all of the time. I'll accept that.", before smiling at his daughter. Kale gets up from her chair and hugs Hit and the bunny. I think that Kale has passed her test! She and her father come out of the room, completing the test. As for the rest of the girls, Claudia was in the room with Frites for forty minutes, due to his words provoking her. Rachel did a good job on her part with Tyrone. Like I said before, being a therapist is hard, but it works in the end. Hit and Kale are more connected, after that final test. I can feel her anger from away from the room. I know how it feels to hate a family member, but...with a few mindfulness practices and some hobbies, I have made amends with my family. Now...I have to go on and start on another group of patients. It was nice talking to you all. Remember that anger is a bad emotion, but controlling it for the greater good is a good one. Just use your calming tools and everything will go alright for you in the end. Keep on smiling! Good luck!]
