Standing guard at the front of the estate Nen saw when Iku left turning slightly away. He hadn't heard what was said in the main house but the female was visibly upset.
Not saying a word as it wasn't his place he watched as she walked towards the wooded area. Straightening out he attuned his senses back to his surroundings.
Kohaku had personally posted him at the front of the grounds until he returned. He could tell the human had been conflicted about leaving but understood the matters he had to attend to were personal.
Giving him his word Nen stood watch and on guard. He certainly wouldn't make such a grave error as his litter mate had.
Setting his jaw he growled low still upset that his twin had been so stupid as to set off into the forest instead of staying put as he was told. Jiro had always been the less disciplined of the two though.
After being orphaned Jiro would whimper and whine incessantly for their parents to come back for them even though he had witnessed their deaths with his own eyes.
At first Nen had tried to comfort his younger brother but eventually gave up as it did no good. Captivity had been hard and grueling as they were starved, beaten, and just barely kept alive to be sold.
There were many days and nights that he had thought his twin wouldn't make it through but he always did. Jiro had some strength in him that Nen had never been able to understand.
Soft spoken and physically weaker than himself, Jiro made up for it with his kinder character. Hearing the door open he watched as Rin and Izumi exited the home with their pups.
"Now I am worried over you." Rin said to the lady of the east.
"Everything will work out. Besides you are the one who is confirmed to be so. I may be." Izu replied. "Can we make this about you this time? Please."
"I know that I will be perfectly fine. I have already had one child with Lord Sesshomaru. You did have a harder time than I did. Your energy was drained easily." Rin countered.
"That was because Hisashi is a full demon. His father is strong. Doesn't it ever effect you in any way? Sesshomarus demonic aura?"
"Actually, yes. When he gets me pregnant I fall asleep."
"Interesting." The two sat back in the field where they had been previously. Rin nodded and seemed to think more.
"I suppose maybe you will have an easier time around since Kohaku is a human. I've only ever met human women who have been with demon men, never a demon female with a human man…so I have no idea."
"Nor do I Rin." Guess we will just have to figure it out." Remaining impassive outwardly Nen couldn't help but inwardly roll his eyes.
Why anyone would ever want to procreate was beyond him. Now the compound was teeming with young, not that that was a bad thing, while he had known long ago that he had no desire to sire any pups.
It may have to do with the fact that he was not interested in females of any type but he had met other males like himself over the years who had so he supposed it was just him.
In fact it had broken a couple of possible long term mating arrangements with some males he had very much been interested in.
He found himself watching Izumi with Hisashi when they were outside. Fully understanding the political aspect of why that pup existed he found himself remembering his mother, it wasn't completely unlike how the lady was with her own son.
He surmised that was the reason why he had decided not to have any offspring, being that their parents had been killed when he and Jiro were so young.
Another reason why he had been furious with his brother for abandoning his post.
Sighing he found his thoughts running in circles. Looking out at the forest he hoped Kohaku returned soon to relieve him before he drove himself mad.
