Last time: Kelce called in with a job for Sasha.

Now: Sasha and Oppie arrive on their mission.

Chapter 16- Nivon V

After three days traveling through hyperspace, they had finally arrived at Nivon Five. Pulling the controls back, Sasha brought the ship out of hyperspace.

"We're here," Sasha called back to the passenger compartment.

A sense of nostalgia filled her as she stared at the planet before them, remembering the day they had first arrived here all those years ago. She remembered sitting in the navigator seat on the Forerunner as Viran and Oppie piloted them down to the surface below. She remembered being surprised by how industrial the planet was. And she remembered being here for a little over a year before running to the planet just before Vestora. It felt really strange to be back here finally not on the run from the Empire. She never thought that they would ever visit a system they had been to before the Empire fell. But now, she was excited to see how all of her old friends and acquaintances were doing, especially at the medical center as they were going to be helping as it was the same one that she worked at all those years ago.

But as she stared out at the planet, she felt that nagging feeling again that she had felt when they left Haven. Whatever this feeling was making her anxious, on edge even. She took a steading breath as she placed a quick message out to Haven to let them know they had arrived safely as she heard Oppie coming from the back compartment.

"Think anyone will recognize us?" He asked, settling into the other seat.

"I'm not sure," Sasha admitted. "It has been a long time since we were last here. But anything is possible."

"Something like twelve years?" Oppie asked, trying to do the math in his head.

"I think that's right," Sasha said as she, too, tried to do the math. "Either way, it's been awhile. I guess we'll just have to see."

"I should stop at the security office, see if there's anyone still around who might recognize me." He thought. "It would be interesting to finally tell them I was a Jedi." He mused.

"Yeah, I'm sure they've all been curious as to what happened to us after we just disappeared," Sasha said in agreement. "It's gonna be interesting to explain to them who we really are. They might still call us by our old alias."

"Oh, yeah." Oppie said, closing his eyes. "What did we go by when we were here?" He asked.

"Uh…" Sasha sat back trying to recall the names they went by when they lived on Nivon Five. "Jeez I can't remember," she said after a moment of thinking.

"We had so many different names." Oppie said wistfully. "Well, I guess we can introduce ourselves properly now."

"Yeah, I look forward to that," Sasha said. "Shall we then?" She asked as she started bringing them in towards the planet.

Sasha piloted their ship down towards the surface of Nivon Five. As they entered the atmosphere, the industrial looking cities littered the view port. Probably a few more than the last time they were there. There were dozens of tall buildings, skyscrapers, and factories that filled each city. Sasha brought the ship in towards the capitol as that is where they were planning to meet Kelce and where they used to live all those years ago. As she approached the spaceport, the ship was guided to land at hangar twelve. Sasha smirked at that as that was the same hangar Viran used to work in. Ironic. She brought the ship in and landed it gently down before shutting down the systems.

Once the ship was shut down, Sasha headed for the ramp.

Oppie got out of the seat and followed her to the hatch. As it slid open, he looked over to the far corner of the hangar and smirked. "The scorch marks are still there."

Sasha chuckled at that as she walked down the ramp. "I'm surprised to see them there," she said. "I'll have to tell Viran that he literally did leave his mark on this place."

"Where were we supposed to meet Kelce?" Oppie asked, shouldering his pack.

"He said to meet him at the medical center," Sasha said as she shouldered her own pack. "Which if I recall was like a couple of blocks away from here." She started walking towards the hangar exit, keying the hatch closed as she went. Oppie nodded and followed.

As they walked out of the hangar and spaceport, they entered into the bustling streets. There were speeders going back and forth on the road ways, and there were people of various species everywhere. Sasha and Oppie stuck together as they made their way through the streets. Many gave them strange glances based off their Jedi attire, but most paid them no mind. Soon they approached a tall structure that looked worse for wear on the outside, but it was just as Sasha remembered it. It was the medical center. And right out front was Kelce talking to a couple of medics. As they got closer, he noticed them and shot them a smile.

"Hey Sasha, glad you could make it," Kelce said as they came up. "And Oppie, what a surprise. Didn't expect you here. How are things?"

"Hi Kelce." Oppie said. "Just thought I'd tag along."

"Well, we could use the extra hands," Kelce said. "Why don't you guys follow me inside and I'll introduce you to the head medic here?"

"Sounds good," Sasha said.

"Alright," Kelce said before looking at the two medics he was talking to. "Excuse me for just a moment."

The two medics nodded as Kelce led Sasha and Oppie inside. Sasha stopped short for a moment when she noticed the place was practically falling apart as they walked inside. She frowned as she looked around the place.

"What happened here?" Sasha asked.

"According to the head medic, they had some Imperial sympathizers who heard a New Republic officer was here for treatment after a recent mission," Kelce explained as they continued through the lobby and over to the receptionist desk. "They had decided to attack this place in order to kill the officer. Thankfully, everyone was able to get out without any major casualties. However, they have barely been functioning. So the New Republic wants us to fix this place up and restock her with the finest equipment as well as make her an official medical station of the New Republic. Also to provide training to all staff on the latest standards. That's where we come in."

"So are we helping you train the staff or fix this place up?" Sasha asked as they came to a stop at the desk.

"A bit of both," Kelce said, turning to face them. "I'll primarily be handling the training, but I will need your help with that Sasha. But the rest of the time, we will be helping out where we can. And Oppie, you're welcome to lend a hand around here too or if you have other business you need to attend to while you're here, I completely understand."

"I can at least help with the repairs." He said, looking around with a frown. "I also used to work with local security here, I could go see how their investigation is going?"

"That may not be a bad idea," Kelce said with a nod. At that moment, an older woman approached in medical attire. "Ah, just who I was looking for. Guys, meet Chief Medical Officer May Lu. May, this is who I told you about. This is Jedi Knights Sasha Monroe and Oppie Xiv."

"It's a pleasure to meet you both," Medic Lu said with a smile. "Thank you for coming to help us out." Her gaze then stopped on Sasha for a rather long moment. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Uh, I used to live here about twelve years ago and helped out at this medical center," Sasha said, kind of awkwardly.

Suddenly, as if a light bulb went off, the woman looked at her in shock and recognition. Almost as if she was seeing a ghost or a long lost relative. Sasha couldn't quite tell, but the woman was definitely surprised to see her. "You're Lynn," she exclaimed. "You were that girl who helped out around the front here for a year or so until the Empire showed up. I wondered what happened to you. We honestly feared the worst, but I'm glad to see you. You look well. And you're a Jedi now? Or were you always a Jedi?" She rambled.

"Thanks," Sasha said, smiling. She had forgotten that Lynn was the name she had chosen for Nivon. It was weird hearing it again after so long. "And we always were. That's why we left when the Empire showed up."

"Well, I'm glad to see you are doing alright. Now let's get you both settled then right to work," Lu said. "We have lots to do if we want to get this place back up and running."

"Aye, aye," Kelce said in agreement.

SMACK! Von groaned in frustration as he slammed his fist against his desk in anger. Where the hell was this Jedi? He had gone through numerous sources and outlets to try and locate her, but he couldn't find her anywhere. He looked on the holonet and found reports of her involving some bozo actor pretending to be a Jedi on two separate occasions. He also found reports on her helping out the New Republic on several other occasions. But there was nothing about where she was living or currently located. It was as if she only appeared at certain moments to help out the galaxy and then would disappear shortly thereafter. He was even able to find her listed in the New Republic database as a Jedi, but when it listed her location it was considered classified.

What the hell was that about? He wondered as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and produced both his lighter and the silver case. Flipping open the lid, he pulled out a cheroot, popped it into his mouth, and lit the other end before taking a deep inhale. He sighed as a pink cloud escaped his lips as the cheroot calmed his frustration. Sitting back in his chair, Von stared at the reports before him, trying to figure out what the next logical step would be. He really wished his client gave him more information regarding how to find this girl. They just told him to use his advanced hunting skills to track her down as he was one of the best in the outer rim territories. But sometimes, a little indication of where to start looking helps. However, he wasn't giving up yet, despite his frustrations. He still needed to find her if he wanted to get paid as the client would wire over the payment once the girl was caught.

He still found that a little strange, this plan with the Jedi. The client wanted her captured for one million credits then wanted her to go through the hell of being hunted for game. He enjoyed a good hunt himself, but this was leveling on sadism. But he wasn't going to argue with someone who was going to give him his biggest paid day in over twenty years as well as help fund his retirement. Plus, screw the Jedi. They think they are so high and mighty with their powers and glow sticks. So he had no real issue with this plan at all. He just found it strange, but he'd had weirder job requests in the past so he couldn't complain.

He sat there for a long time, staring at the reports as he smoked his cheroot. Then an idea came to mind. Leaning forward, Von pulled up a program on his desk computer. The program allowed him to hack into planetary security systems and search for someone using facial recognition. He only ever used this when he was hunting what he would consider to be hard prey to catch. What a lucky girl to fall into that category. Putting in a few things here and there, he started the program up. He knew this would take at least an hour or two to go through every security cam this side of Coruscant and another couple hours after that to complete a galaxy wide search.

With the program running through everything, Von stood from his desk and walked over to the door, leaving the program to do its work. He then headed down the hall towards his chambers to get some rest before checking back in with the program later.

Several hours later, he returned to his office as well rested as he could be with a fresh cheroot in his mouth and a cup of caf in his hands. He walked over to his desk and saw that the program had stopped. Not because it malfunctioned or he needed to get past certain firewalls or because his computer froze. No, it stopped because it found her. Her face was clear as day on his monitor as well as her location. Von grinned as he took a seat in his chair.

"Nivon Five, eh?" He mused. He then pressed a commline button on his desk. "Gee-Three, bring me my list of available hunters and some breakfast. We found her."

Uh oh... Review!
