Caulifla and Kale What IF: Chapter Twenty- "Switching Lives?"
Null Realm, Tournament of Power
After winning the tournament of power, Kale and Caulifla are the only standing participants to win for their universe. The Super Dragon Balls are activated and the divine dragon comes out of the giant balls. The golden glow from the dragon lights up the entire Null Realm, spreading stars and made-up galaxies around the area. Kale is surprised to see a Super Dragon for the first time, while Caulifla is not that impressed. The dragon tells one of them to make one wish only and he will leave. Caulifla was thinking of some wishes that would make her life a bit better, such has achieving Super Saiyan Three or become the strongest warrior in the multi-verse, but she was stuck on which wish to make. Meanwhile, Kale was thinking of one wish that has been on her mind for a while. She has always wanted to see what Caulifla's life would be like, if she had it. Then, when Caulifla was about to make her wish to the dragon, Kale beats her to it, by saying her wish to it. "Dragon!? My wish is to have Caulifla's life, while she has my life!" said Kale. Caulifla, the rest of the participants, and the god of destruction are dumb-struck to hear that wish from the shy saiyan. The dragon makes the wish and the entire area gets covered in a white light, resetting the timeline.
Planet Sadala, Hideout (Year 780/Present Day)
In the present day, the planet of the saiyans has been a great one. The people are doing their jobs in protecting the various planets in the universe. We go away from the cities and buildings to see a ship heading towards a hideout. Inside of the ship is Cabba, the ace of the SDF Elites. He is approaching the hideout, so that he can recruit someone for a special tournament. He thinks of what his former master told him about his sister being a good candidate for the tournament. He does have some second thoughts about how is he going to convince her into coming to the tournament. He sees the hideout, lands close to it, leaves the ship, and enters in. As he enters in, the thugs surround him, seeing him walking down the hallway to the leader of the gang. Cabba reaches to an area, where there are more thugs in the area and a figure sitting on a throne-like chair. The figure seems to be eating a giant meat drumstick in one hand and the other is laying on a handle from the chair. Cabba takes a deep breath and calls the figure's name to listen to what he has to say. "Kale? Do you have a moment to talk? Privately, I mean?" said Cabba. The figure drops her drumstick to a near by table with a plate for it. She leans closer, out of the shadows, revealing her true identity. She has a dark, yet light skin color, is wearing a red tube shirt, baggy red pants, and golden bracelets and boots. She makes an angry expression down at Cabba, saying that she isn't interested in talking to a SDF Elite like him. She puts her long, black hair into a ponytail, with one bang hanging out, sits back down and continues to eat her drumstick in peace. Cabba knew that Kale would be this stubborn towards SDF elites. He later thinks of his back up plan. He begins to glow a yellow aura around his body, catching the attention of Kale and the other thugs around him. His body later flashes the yellow light towards them, blinding them for a few seconds. Once the light has been gone, Cabba now has blonde hair and blue eyes, instead of black hair and eyes. Kale stops eating her lunch, seeing the new form of Cabba. "What is that form?!" said Kale. "This is called Super Saiyan. I would like to show you how to achieve this form to you. If you can allow me to ask you the news that I have for you" said Cabba, as he deactivates the form, back to his normal form. Kale thinks this through, thinking of doing what Cabba has to say. She says yes and will meet him in the back area of the hideout. With that said, Cabba and Kale leave the area to the back area. Without them noticing, another figure is following the two with a worried expression on it's face. It continues to watch them, until they are all outside of the hideout in the back area.
Three Minutes Later…
Cabba: So...if we don't get enough fighters for the tournament or our universe loses, then we will be erased. Are you getting all of that, Kale?
Kale: (Closes her eyes, crosses her arms, looks the other way) Hmph! I got all of that. Like I said, I don't care, if the universe is gone. All I want is to know how you got that form and see if I can do it as well. (Looks at Cabba with an angry expression) Don't do it, or I will have to beat it out of you.
Cabba: R-Right. I forgot about the other promise that I made to you. (Sees the figure behind a tree) Uh, Kale? (Points at the tree) Someone is watching us?
Kale: (Looks at the tree behind her) Hm….(Raised her eyebrow) Not this again. Caulifla!? You can come out of there! I knew that you were watching us.
Caulifla: (Shyly walks away from the three, nervously looks at Cabba and Kale) Uh…
Cabba: Who's the girl with the pink and purple outfit on?
Kale: That's my sister in arm, Caulifla. She can be a shy one to see, but she is strong.
Caulifla: (Shyly looks at the ground) I-I'm sorry, Kale. I-I was wondering what you would be talking to a SDF Elite like him, D-Do you hate them around you? (Shyly looks at Kale)
Kale: (Sighs) Of course I do, but he has a form that is so awesome that I would like to get it. You can join with us. See if you can get the form, before I do. (Smiles at Caulifla)
Caulifla: R-Really? Uh...I-I don't think that I can-
Kale: And here we go again! You always saying that you can't do anything. Come on, Caulifla! Being a...uh...(Looks at Cabba) What was the name of that form?
Cabba: (Makes a bored expression to Kale) Super Saiyan?
Kale: Super Saiyan! (Looks at Caulifla with a smile) I know that you can achieve that form, if you just try. Now put a smile on your face and join with us!
Caulifla: Uh...O-Okay. (Walks over to Kale and Caulifla)
Kale: (Sits on a rock with Caulifla) Okay, Cabba! You can begin!
Cabba: Okay. (Turns Super Saiyan) Hah!
Kale: (Looks at Cabba with dazzling eyes) Whoa! Awesome!
Caulifla: (Makes an even more worried expression) Uh…
Cabba: (Stops charging) This is Super Saiyan. In order to achieve the form you have to feel an intense feel of emotion, such as anger, depression, or anxiety. If you can feel enough of those emotions, then your back will start to tingle from the intensity of it. Once the tingling has gotten into your system...BOOM! You're a Super Saiyan. Kale? I want you to try it out.
Kale: (Stands up) So...I just have to feel an intense feeling of emotions and then I turn into a Super Saiyan? That seems hard to do.
Cabba: Come on, Kale! Just feel your back tingle and it will come.
Kale: Oh! I get what you're going for, man! Here goes! (Tries to make her back tingle) Guh! RRGGGH!
Cabba: Wait a minute, Kale! I didn't say to just tingle your back! You have to understand what emotions you are feeling, before-
Kale: Hah! (Turns into a Super Saiyan)
Cabba: (makes a comically surprised expression) What the-
Caulifla: (Looks at Kale with widen eyes) Kale…
Kale manages to become a Super Saiyan with ease. Cabba is shocked that she was able to become a Super Saiyan without feeling intense emotions. Caulifla is both jealous and surprised that her sister in arms is able to be the legend of saiyan history. Kale says to Cabba that she can feel an overflowing power inside of her. Cabba says that it's what the form feels like on the first try. He later tells her that the form does extract energy out of her for a long period of time. Kale hears this, before turning back to normal with her hair all out. She notices this, pulls out a string out of her pocket, and puts her hair back in a ponytail. She later turns her attention to Caulifla, meaning that it's her turn to become a Super Saiyan. "Come on! You can do this!" said Kale, as she cheers on Caulifla's attempt into become a Super Saiyan. A couple of minutes, Caulifla is still struggling to become a Super Saiyan in front of Cabba and Kale. Cabba looks at his wrist, noticing that the tournament is going to start in a few minutes. He tells Caulifla and Kale that they need to hurry for Vados to pick them up for the tournament. He flies into the air and goes right for the location of their departure. Meanwhile, Caulifla makes a sad expression, feeling bad that she can turn Super Saiyan, like Kale did. Kale sees this, worried that this will worry Caulifla throughout the tournament. She pats Caulifla on the back, saying that she will become a Super Saiyan sooner or later. Caulifla hears this, surprised even more that Kale is supporting her for the first time. She nods her head, smiles at Kale, saying that she will do her best to make her proud. Afterwards, the two leave the hideout, after Cabba to the tournament for their lives.
Tournament of Power (Five Minutes Left)…
(Before you start reading this, I just want to say that I don't have time to recap the entire tournament, so I had to time skip to the final five minutes of the tournament. For the roster, Universe 11 and 6 are the final universes left. Yes! Universe 7 has been eliminated and erased. The final three contestants are Jiren, Caulifla, and Kale. With that out of the way, continue reading!)
The tournament of power is about to end with Universe 11 and Universe 6 fighting for those Super Dragon Balls. Jiren, the last member of his team is up against Caulifla and Kale, the final two members of the Sixth Universe. Everyone is one their seats, watching the final battle play out. Kale has learned a lot, since the tournament has began. She learned to control her super saiyan form a bit better, has unlocked Super Saiyan two, and learned to control that better as well. As for Caulifla,...she has not learned anything. She still has problems transforming into a Super Saiyan, ever since the tournament started. She feels bad at herself for not trying hard enough. Kale looks at Caulifla, worried that she won't last long in this battle, so she tells her to stay back, while she takes care of Jiren. She knows that she isn't strong enough to face the strongest one here, but she has to protect her sister in arms. She charges at Jiren, while Caulifla worriedly watches her go after him. "If only I was strong enough to help her out. I can't turn Super Saiyan, she always helps me out of situations, and I can't even get one participant off of the ring. Why!? Why can't I do it!?" said Caulifla to herself, as she can hear Kale's struggles against Jiren's attacks. She isn't fast enough to see the red ki blasts hit her body, hurting herin the process. Caulifla would like to help, but is scared that she might get hurt and get their universe erased because of it. Kale later tries to turn Super Saiyan, but Jiren grabs her by the shirt, telling her that it will not work on him. He later throws a slightly beaten Kale to where Caulifla is standing at.
Caulifla: Kale! (Looks at Kale) A-Are you going to be okay?
Kale: (Slowly gets up) I-It's going to be okay, Caulifla. I will protect you! (Looks at Caulifla with a weak smile) You are my sister in arms for a reason.
Caulifla: Kale...(Starts to tear up) I-I can't see you like this. I have to help you somehow. (Tears run down her cheeks) I-I can't lose you! I just can't!
Kale: (Touches Caulifla's shoulder) I know that you can. You just need a little push to get you in the right path. Feel what's right for you. Okay? (Turns around, sees Jiren walking up to them)
Caulifla: W-What are you trying to say to me, Kale?
Kale: (Charges at Jiren) I won't let you touch my sister! She's everything that I have! (Punches Jiren's chest to no avail) You hear me!? I'm never going to let you touch her!
Jiren: How pathetic. (Picks up Kale by the shirt) Your friendship towards your friend is a waste of time. It's over for you. (Throws Kale out of the ring)
Kale: CAULIFLA!
Caulifla: Kale! NO!
Jiren: Now that there is only one left...(Looks at Caulifla with a serious expression) Time for you to go out with your pathetic sister of yours. (Walks towards Caulifla)
Caulifla: (Begins to glow green, while saddenly looks at the ground) Y-You...knocked out Kale! S-She was everything to me and you just had to throw her out of the ring! (Looks at Jiren with an angry expression and blank eyes) YOU! YOU WILL BE NEXT IN LINE! (Smiles, while pointing at Jiren) YOU WILL BE MY FIRST VICTIM! HAHAHA! (Charges up, releasing a green glow)
Cabba: (Puts Kale on the benches) Kale! Are you okay?
Kale: (Wakes up) What the- W-Where is Caulifla?
Caulifla: RRRRRGGGHHHHHH! (Charges up some more)
Kale: (sees a bright green light in the ring) What is that!?
Jiren: (Covers his eyes) What is this!? (Sees a huge, muscular version of Caulifla) WHAT!?
Kale: Whoa! (Sees Caulifla's legendary super saiyan form) C-Caulifla is the legendary super saiyan!?
Caulifla's new super saiyan form puts fear in Jiren's eyes. He didn't expect the saiyan to transform this late in the tournament. He becomes distracted by how Caulifla's form looks, that he doesn't get the chance to block her punch to the stomach. He coughs from this, as Caulifla kicks him in the chin, sending him flying up. She later jumps after him, ax-punches him in the back, sending him back to the ring, creating a huge crater. Jiren turns around on his back, but doesn't get back up, as Caulifla stomps on his stomach, causing more pain on the being. Kale is surprised to see her sister in arms begin this powerful. Cabba was right: Emotions are the keys to becoming a Super Saiyan. She continues to watch Caulifla fight against Jiren, as she cheers her to knock him out of the ring. Caulifla, although in a rage mode against Jiren, heard Kale's cheering her own. She smiles from this, as she continues to punch Jiren to the edge of the ring. She picks up him by the head, whispers to him that friendship is everything. "You just haven't seen it yet" said Caulifla in her deep voice, as she throws Jiren out of the ring, making the sixth universe the winner of the tournament. Caulifla turns back to normal, falls on the ground on her back, out of power to stand up. Kale sees this, flies to where Caulifla is at, and grabs a hold of her. She smiles at what her sister in arms can do with this overwhelming power. The sixth universe later revive the erased universe and go on with their lives. The sisters of Planet Sadala continue to train every day, so that they can be strong. But...there is something that these two will have to face: Love.
Planet Sadala, Hideout (Five Months After Tournament)…
Five months after the tournament, the saiyans have been doing great at their jobs in protecting various planets. At the hideout of Caulifla and Kale, the two girls are training in the back yard. Kale, who is in Super Saiyan, tells Caulifla that this training has improved on her understanding on the usage of emotions. Caulifla, who's in her Legendary Super Saiyan form, tells Kale that she is proud that she is happy. The two finish their training, land on the ground, for which shakes, when Caulifla landed, and they both turn back to normal. Caulifla sits on the ground, from the lack of energy that she used in that form. Kale sits next with Caulifla, pats her on the back, happy that she has improved on her confidence, after training together. She later thinks of one thing that has been on her mind for a while. "Caulifla? Can I ask you a question?" said Kale to Caulifla. Caulifla nervously looks at Kale, saying that she can tell her a question. "Okay. After we're done with training, you would go into the city and don't come back to the hideout for two hours. What are you doing in the city that takes you two hours to come back?" said Kale with a raised eyebrow. Caulifla's face turns red in embarrassment, since she becomes nervous of letting kale know of her secret. She tells her that she likes to walk in the city for a long time and does get side-tracked by how long she is in the city. She later gets up, say to Kale that she has to go in the city for that walk, and enters into the hideout. Kale is suspicious about how Caulifla has been acting. She gets up, walks into the hideout, and thinks of whether or not, she should follow Caulifla or not. She later hears the door knocking, meaning that Cabba is here for his news. She walks up the entrance door, opens it, looks at Cabba with her sassy expression, before asking him of a special offer. "Y-You want me to spy on Caulifla? Why?" said Cabba, confused of that offer. "I have been a bit curious of why Caulifla would be in the city for that long. She is hiding something from me" said Kale. Cabba later notices of what Kale is telling to him. He tells Kale of what Caulifla has been going over the past five months. This goes on for quite some time, until Kale makes a surprised expression, shocked to hear that Caulifla has been going into the city to see an important person. She tells him where is this person is. Cabba sighs from this, knowing that Kale is protective towards Caulifla. The two leave the hideout, fly into the city, and search for Caulifla and her important person.
North City, Store (Seven Minutes Later)…
Caulifla: (Walks out of the store with a large saiyan soldier) Aw! Thanks, Limo for taking me to shopping. Kale will be happy to see more meat in the fridge. You know how she likes her meat drumsticks for every meal. (Smiles at Limo)
Limo: (Makes a nervous smile) Y-You're welcome, Caulifla. Ever since we first met a couple of months ago, you have been honest towards how I act. I'm not the best man, when it comes to girls, but you're the exception to that. Thanks for everything, Caulifla.
(Kale and Cabba hiding in an alleyway, seeing Caulifla and Limo together)
Kale: So...That lard ass is with Caulifla? Why hasn't she told me this?
Cabba: Maybe Caulifla might get a bit embarrassed or scared of what you might think of how Limo looked like. He wasn't that way to begin with. He was actually a skinny fellow, like me, until an accident at the science lab caused him to be like this. He felt alone and worried that everyone will make fun of how he looks. That was, until Caulifla came to him and told him cute. From then on, Limo couldn't stop thinking about her.
Kale: Is this why...Caulifla has been more confident in her abilities over the past few weeks? Because of that fat ass!?
Cabba: Maybe it's about time that you accept Caulifla for who she is. You are her sister in arms for a reason. So start being a good one. (Smiles, before leaving the alleyway)
Kale: (Sees Caulifla and Limo leave) (Maybe Cabba is right. I have to accept for who Caulifla wants to be. I can't allow myself to be all tough the whole time.) (smiles, before leaving the alleyway)
Hideout (Two Hours Later)…
(Caulifla and Limo fly to the entrance of the hideout)
Caulifla: (Makes a worried expression) (Why would Kale want me and Limo to come to the hideout? I can't let Limo feel more bad about how he looks, when Kale starts her insults towards him. This is going to be a bad one for me and him to take.)
Limo: (Looks at the hideout) So this is the hideout that you and your friend live at?
Caulifla: (Makes a nervous smile) Of course. Me and Kale live here with some thugs, but...after the tournament, they left, so that we can have more space to train. (Looks at Limo) Are you sure that you can handle of what Kale has for you?
Limo: (Smiles at Caulifla) I'll be fine, Caulifla.
Kale: (Opens the door, sees Caulifla and Limo, and smiles) Hi, Caulifla! Hi, Fat-Oh! I mean...Limo. Was it? It's nice to see you here. Come in, come in! (Lets the two come in)
Caulifla: (Looks at Kale with a confused expression) Kale? Why are you being nice to us?
Kale: Caulifla. Me and Cabba saw you and Limo at the store. You were happy, for which made me think that us being sister in arms wasn't enough for you to be confident. After the training that we did for five months, you are really starting to change for the better. It's about time that I start changing for the better for you. (Smiles, while patting Caulifla on the back) You and Limo are so happy with each other that I have to be happy for you. Are you...going to be okay with this? Me being happy for you and him?
Caulifla: Oh, Kale. (Pats Kale on the shoulder, smiling) Thanks for accepting this for me. It's surprising that we made the wish to revive the erased universes, instead of me having your life and you having mine. That would feel...Uh...How do I describe that wish? (Rubs her chin)
Kale: Weird? Off? Deja Vu-ish?
Caulifla: You can call those that.
Kale: Who cares? At least we're happy for who we are. That all that matters to me. Now let's have lunch!
Caulifla: Okay! Meat like always?
Kale: How about something different? I think that I can cut the meats for a little while. How about something that you would like for lunch?
Caulifla: What!? You never allow me to make lunch that's good to me?
Kale: This is the new Kale! I'll accept whatever you make in life. As a sister in arms, I, Kale, will be honest from now on.
Caulifla: T-Thanks, Kale. (Leaves the area with Kale)
