Hello and welcome to the second chapter of this story. Hope you all are having a good day.
I hope the first chapter was good. And I plan on continuing with this since I do greatly enjoy writing and fanfics in general.
The pairing is still not decided. Out of the current reviews, there were all for a harem route. So, if you want to see a harem route or just Yaoyorozu, do let me know what you think I should do.
If you have any ideas or questions, do let me know.
My PMs are open to questions, ideas, and other stuff.
I don't own anything here except for the plot and Kybou.
Hope you all have a good read!
Chapter 2: Preparations for the Sports Festival
Right after school had ended, Midoriya waved goodbye to his friends and then immediately headed out towards the beach he cleaned during All-Might's training. Izumi told him that the beach would be a good place to train for keeping balance and to not draw attention to himself. Since it was a school day, the beach would be mostly empty, so Izumi thought it would be a good place to start the sword training for Midoriya. He naturally had the young boy use a practice sword, which was a decently sized stick they had found on the way to the beach.
"Look Midoriya. Here's how you hold it, we can go into one-handed later on when you have gotten physically stronger and are capable of using a sword with both hands. In the meantime, let's just get you accustomed to holding a sword first, and then we'll go to the stick for practicing slashes. Once you've got a better grasp of how to swing, we will then practice using Kybou." Izumi said while floating right next to the young boy, or rather just a projection of him, like a ghost. Midoriya grunted as he raised the stick and slashed down, repeating the motion for minutes while Izumi, and occasionally Kybou, gave out pointers and corrected his stance.
By the end of it, Midoriya's whole body felt like jelly and he grunted as he had trouble bringing his water bottle to his mouth. The training was just as tiring as cleaning the beach with All-Might. That had helped him improve his overall condition and stamina while also getting him used to the muscles he normally never had used. Swinging the stick while maintaining his stance, which was sloppy and unrefined, had made him use his arm muscles.
"Is this how it's going to be for the rest of the two weeks we were given?" Midoriya panted as he laid down on the sand, gazing at the night sky while resting his body. He then quickly sat up and took a sip from his water bottle, sighing happily as he hydrated himself.
"Pretty much, it won't be as brutal as the training with All-Might, but it will be just as taxing to get you accustomed to wielding a sword. Once we get those squared away, we can start working on other stuff." Izumi said, floating next to his younger self as they gazed at the night sky. A gentle breeze picked up as they took in their surroundings
"So, how was the future for you? What was it like? And how are the others, or are these topics you can't talk about because of some weird law that forbids you from divulging the past?" Midoriya asked, picking up a pebble and tossed it in the air for a bit before throwing it. The two Midoriyas watched as the pebble skipped a couple of times before sinking into the ocean. After a couple of minutes, Izumi sighed before crossing his arms and gazed off into the distance.
"Well, all I can say is that I had my best and my worst moments during that time as a pro-hero after graduating from the academy. Watching my friends' success and their deaths were something I'd never forget and something I would try to repress. The future, or my rendition of it, was not the greatest of times. A lot of friends and colleagues died, like Kendo and Shiozaki. It pained me that I couldn't do anything to prevent their deaths." Izumi's voice grew softer as he talked as if he was taking a trip down his memories. Midoriya stared at the moon as it slowly transitioned into night. The moonlight began to light the beach a little amongst the night sky.
"We'll make sure that what happened does not happen here as well. We can defy what fate had in store for us in our universe by doing all we can to not allow the same events to occur here. We do not know how this will unfold, but we need to be on guard at all times. Right now, all we really can do is focus on strengthening Midoriya so that he can combat any possible threats. Now, young Midoriya, we will continue with the training." Kybou said before floating off.
"Won't she be seen by other people?" Midoriya asked as he got up and stretched his back, grunting when he heard cracking. He let out a breath as he continued to stretch.
"Don't worry, no one can see me or Kybou unless we reveal ourselves, so it makes you look like an insane person talking to nothing out in the open. It does give some good laughs though, so it just makes it a bit more entertaining for us." Izumi chuckled before floating off, following the sword and leaving a blushing Midoriya as he jogged to catch up, mumbling to himself about being embarrassed.
They continued on that night, A couple of people passing by saw the young boy swinging the stick continuously and muttered to themselves. Midoriya was zoned in as he continued to train his swings with the branch, only listening to the orders and corrections made by Kybou and Izumi. Unbeknownst to the young greenette, Yaoyorozu was out on a jog when she happened to catch a glimpse of the familiar green hair of her classmate on the beach. She quickly stopped and took out her headphones and watched from where she was. She watched as he swung the branch and almost giggled when she saw the 'practice sword'. Yaoyorozu was compelled to go down there and create a wooden practice sword to replace the branch, but she ultimately decided against it since she did not want to break her classmate's concentration.
"Wow, I can feel the intensity from here. Midoriya must be training for the Sports Festival. Well, since he's giving his all, I should too!." Yaoyorozu though, filled with determination. She decided to stay a bit longer before continuing her jog, a sudden urge to grow stronger swelled in her.
The next day, U.A. announced that they would be going forth with the Sports Festival, setting the date in two weeks from now, causing fans to celebrate that they get to see one of the most anticipated events for the hero community. Midoriya watched from his house and he clenched his fist as his face was filled with determination.
For the next two weeks, Midoriya trained how to handle his body while also learning the basics of swordplay. Izumi had subjected him to similar workouts he had done with All-Might to improve his stamina and strength. Of course, there were times of relaxation to not overwork the young boy. The first week was mostly used to teach Midoriya the basics of handling a sword and to condition his body for the next week where things were really going to pick up.
"Come on Midoriya. You have a couple more to go, don't falter now." Izumi cheered on as Midoriya grunted and managed to do another push-up with Kybou on his back, which sounded easier than what he was experiencing right there. The magical sword had increased her weight to make it more challenging for the trainee.
"You got this Midoriya! Just one moreeeeeee!" Izumi yelled as he floated around Midoriya.
"I'm...trying, ngh. It's just that...Kybou is very heavy." Midoriya grunted and panted as he tried to finish the last push-up, only to flop down onto the sand when Kybou huffed and increased her weight even more, effectively crushing the trainee. A muffled groan was heard while Kybou continued to huff in annoyance.
"Excuse me, young man. I may be a sword, but I'm still a lady. I still take offense to those kinds of comments and would suggest you do not utter them again, less you want the same result, only worse again." She said before getting off of Midoriya and floated off in annoyance. Izumi watched the sword float off before looking at his younger self and chuckled. Midoriya could only sigh in exasperation as he finished his last push-up before standing up to stretch his body.
"There's more to be done, I need to get stronger." Midoriya muttered to himself before groaning as his arms felt like jelly and ended up napping on the beach.
Once the first week ended and Midoriya had some rest, they moved on to swordplay and having Midoriya use Kybou to form a connection between the two. When Midoriya swung Kybou, he felt that it felt like second nature and he quickly got accustomed to the weight of the sword. After a couple more experimental swings, Midoriya beamed with excitement as he turned to see an approving smile on Izumi's face.
"Alright, I think you're ready for the styles I made while using Kybou." Izumi said as he floated over to Midoriya. The boy perked up as he watched as Izumi took Kybou from him and held it.
"Alright, we can start with the first three forms of the first style: Plus." Midoriya watched closely as Izumi raised Kybou high in the air.
"Form One: Cross Impact!" Izumi slashed downward and horizontally in quick succession, creating an afterimage of what appeared to be a plus sign, and then it shot forward before disappearing, creating a gust of wind. Midoriya was amazed and also slightly cringed at the name, which Izumi noticed and grunted.
"Look, I know it isn't the greatest name for an attack but still, regardless of its terrible name, it is quite powerful. Once you're able to become more proficient with the forms, you can alter them to achieve different effects such as speed or size. Becomes real handy when the situation is right. Anyways, you should try Midoriya." Izumi handed Kybou to Midoriya and floated back a bit.
"Just imagine what you saw when Izumi did and then imagine yourself doing it. Just believe in yourself and you should be fine, leave the rest to me." Kybou soothed Midoriya, engulfing the two of them in a warm light as Midoriya visualized what Izumi had just had done. Getting a good image of his head, he inhaled and exhaled loudly.
Recreating what Izumi demonstrated in his mind, he let his body do the work. Midoriya allowed himself to be taken over by Kybou and imagined himself recreating the form himself. A surge of energy swelled inside of him as he swung Kybou. Midoriya watched as the afterimages of the two slashes stood still for a couple of seconds before shooting off away from him before disappearing into thin air. Izumi clapped as he floated over to his younger self.
"That was pretty good Midoriya, but you didn't shout out the name of the attack, after all, it is proven that shouting out your attacks will make it more powerful. Just like how we do it with One For All." Izumi explained while mindlessly floating around Midoriya.
"Isn't that what they do in anime and manga though? It isn't proven, but I guess it makes sense when All-Might does it, his moves seem very powerful. Then again, it does look kind of stupid when I'm the one doing it." Midoriya grumbled to himself. He then turned towards the city and caught a glimpse of a familiar raven-haired pony-tail watching from a distance and quickly turned to face the water, a small blush crept on his face as he turned again to see Yaoyorozu watching him, her head cocked to the side a little as she gazed in interest.
"Why is Yaoyorozu here? Has she been here this whole time while I was practicing?" Midoriya went on a muttering spree as he continued to ask himself multiple questions regarding his mature classmate. Izumi just smiled sadly as he cast his gaze on Yaoyorozu and then to his own hands, dazing off and leaving Kybou planted in the sand upright. To Midoriya's classmate, Kybou was a normal, cheap sword that you could find anywhere for secrecy purposes. However, the sword could only wait for so long before she got irritated and knocked the two greenettes out of their stupors.
"Will the two of you please stop your asinine self-talking and focus on this training? We only have a couple of days left before the Sports Festival and the two of you are being mind-boggled by a female classmate." Kybou shouted in both of their minds, causing a loud ringing noise that made the two Midoriyas wince in pain. Izumi grunted and huffed at Kybou while Midoriya rubbed his ears and whimpered a little.
"It's all good, Kybou, after all, in Yaomomo's eyes, you're just a practice wooden sword, so no need to get all grumpy. Besides, I think we made some fantastic progress today, considering Midoriya managed to get Cross Impact done on his first go. We could also continue into the next form if Midoriya wants to move on, otherwise we shouldn't rush learning the forms. I think you can win the Sports Festival with the first two forms if I'm being honest." Izumi said before looking expectantly at Midoriya.
"We have a few days left before the Sports Festival, so learning the next form wouldn't be too bad. I also want to get some amount of training with One For All. I at least want to be ready for anything that could happen during the Sports Festival. As of right now, my biggest competition right now is Todoroki and Bakugo with everyone else a moderate competition, but I can't get complacent." Midoriya said, running over to his bag leaning on a nearby rock and pulled out his notebook which contained summaries on everyone's quirks. Izumi and Kybou floated over to him and looked over his shoulder, seeing the notes on his classmates.
"Todoroki and Bakugo are definitely going to be the main competition just because of how well they utilize and how much they actually comprehend their quirks. I'm leaning towards Todoroki being more of a threat to you than Bakugo will since he's more easily readable depending on the situation. Todoroki, however, will be more challenging to deal with since he isn't that easily angered unless it's something to do with his dad." Izumi started as Midoriya stopped on Todoroki's page.
"Izumi, Todoroki is a 'she', just wanted to correct you before we carry on." Midoriya as he glossed over her page, missing the face plant that Izumi suffered as he was taken aback by the information.
"Wait, wait. Let me ask again, Todoroki is a she, not a he, right?" Izumi exclaimed. When Midoriya nodded, the spirit nearly fainted as he floated down to the ground and held his chest.
"What's with the reaction? Was Todoroki a guy in your reality, Izumi?" Midoriya asked when he finally turned to see his other self sprawled over the sand. A subtle nod told Midoriya everything he needed to and went back to scouting all of his classmates.
"It's weird to think about, but now that you say that Todoroki is a girl, it does make sense. The longer hair and the more slim body shape even though she wears the male uniform, and her longer hair would also make it a dead giveaway. But still, it's hard to think about since me and the Todoroki from my world was a guy, and even one of my best guy friends too. Now that I really really think about it, Todoroki's hair here was longer than over there if you really picture it. Crazy, huh, I wonder what else is different here." Izumi wondered before everything went quiet and everyone did their own thing. Yaoyorozu eventually went down to the beach and approached Midoriya, startling him from his notebook. She quickly apologized, chuckling behind her hand as she sat down beside Midoriya and the two of them talked about a variety of topics ranging from the Sports Festival to other miscellaneous topics. Yaoyorozu then gestured towards his notebook on the quirks of their peers and asked if she could take a look at the detail he wrote on her quirk. Midoriya's face flushed as he stammered and handed her his notebook, apologizing if it was a bit creepy, but she waved him off. She glanced over all the information and observations Midoriya wrote down for each of their classmates and even had some notes for members of Class 1-B.
"You take meticulous notes over every quirk of our classmates. It's incredible how detailed everything is, and you even put strengths and counters to all of them. I have to admit it is kind of alarming how accurate some of these are." Yaoyorozu chuckled as comical tears appeared on Midoriya's face. She finally managed to find her page and she carefully read each of the statements he had written for her weaknesses. Yaoyorozu hummed as she trailed her finger across her weaknesses and couldn't help but agree with his statements. Although it did make her upset to an extent, she couldn't necessarily deny any of them and it helped that it was from a different perspective from her own. She made a mental note before skimming the rest of the notebook and then handed it back to Midoriya.
"Thank you for letting me look over your notes, Midoriya. I will take my leave before I get bombarded with phone calls from my parents. It was nice talking to you and I wish you the best of luck on your training, and to the Sports Festival. Have a nice night." Yaoyorozu said before walking off, leaving Midoriya to watch as she left. He hummed as he placed his notebook back into his bag and grabbed Kybou from Izumi's hand. The future green head floated still for a couple of seconds before grinning slightly and moved in front of Midoriya.
"Well, let's get back into it, shall we?"
Well, I finally managed to get around finishing this after taking a break from writing. I pretty much took a long hiatus to find motivation on the writing block after reading a lot of manga and other fanfictions. With that, I finally got the motivation to keep on writing, so here we are!
Not much action going on right now, but trust me, it's going to rack up a lot over the next couple of chapters. It's just a matter of how work and college are going to affect the amount of time I have for writing these chapters.
Anyways, I plan on continuing this as well as planning future stories and hopefully getting a basis for them in the near future.
If you have any ideas on how I should proceed with this story, then please do so. I'm open to suggestions and/or pairings in this story. I obviously want Midoriya/Yaoyorozu, but should I make this a harem or keep it simple. Any other advice would be appreciated.
If you would like to beta-read this, then PM or something, it would be greatly appreciated.
I hope you all have a good day and I hope you will share this story so that it could grow even more!
Also, yes, female Todoroki.
It's me signing off and until the next chapter.
