A/N: Here is the storm.
Enjoy!
The first one to notice the smell was Riku. Sniffing the air he immediately felt the effects of whatever it was begin to overtake him.
"Close the door Izumi!" He shouted to her as she sat in the sitting room.
"Riku?" She questioned at the suddenness of his order. Hisashi began to whine and howl in distress adverting her attention. Taking a staggered breath she stood only to fall to her knees.
Slamming the door shut Riku suddenly felt paralyzed but forced his body to move. As he rounded the house he saw the wisps of white smoke coming from the barracks that seeped out between the cracks of the building.
Looking to his own hut he had to get to Iku. He had to make sure she and their son were safe. Falling to his knees he fell unconscious.
Nen shook his head not feeling well. At first he thought it was guilt and the pang he had brought upon himself by wounding Jin but knew quickly it was an outside source.
Jumping up he landed in the back seeing the smoke come from the barracks. Covering his face with his sleeve he kicked open the door and was overwhelmed nearly immediately.
Jin sat in front of the fire with smoldering plants. He looked to Nen his eyes burning with hurt and betrayal.
"Jin…you…the others…" Nen managed out before collapsing. Kohaku had decided to check their close perimeter again when the smell hit his nose.
"Oh no." Running towards the compound he saw Riku on the ground, Nen lying half in the doorway of the barracks with plumes of smoke rolling across the grounds. "What are you doing?!"
"Chief."
"You're going to kill them!" Kohaku shouted. Grabbing the water bucket he doused the flame making it hiss and smoke more. As he left the barracks Mitsuo had come out of his hut.
"Lord Kohaku… Emi, our children…"
"Take them into the main house." He ordered running to where he knew Iku was. Breaking down the door with his weapon he found her also unconscious and had transformed into her demon form.
Gathering her in his arms he ran her to the main house making the choice to protect the women and children first. The men would have to wait and hopefully they were strong enough to withstand the effects of the paralytic agent Jin had used.
Opening the door with Mitsuo close behind him with his family in his arms Kohaku found both Izumi and Hisashi unconscious on the floor of the sitting room.
Placing Iku down beside the hearth he gathered them in his arms and brought her to their room. "Bring them in here. Hopefully the smoke hasn't reached this far back into the house."
"What has happened to them."
"I will explain later. Bring in Riku. I will get Nen." Kohaku said. Nodding Mitsuo closed the door behind him while Kohaku picked up Iku placing her beside Izumi, Emi, and the children on the futon.
Swallowing hard he ran back out to get Nen and glared daggers at Jin. "Get Sana. Tell Jiro what you have done and that he needs to fetch my sister Sango and Lord Sesshomaru."
"Chief…"
"So help me Jin, if any of them die, if the unborn children are lost I will kill you." Kohaku ground out lifting Nen on to his shoulder to take him to the front.
"I just…wanted to…I didn't mean to hurt everyone…" Jin whimpered. Knowing time was of the essence he ran in the direction he knew the young couple had gone in.
The storm had not caused as much damage in the village as what had been anticipated, there was still clean up to do and some repairs to make but nothing that wasn't difficult.
Rin assisted as much as she could and listened intently offering advice to Kagome based upon what Jinenji had written. He had thought the same as Kagome had, that being as strong as she was it was combating Inuyashas demon energy not allowing a viable pregnancy.
The herbs he suggested would suppress her spiritual energy and hopefully allow her to carry a healthy pregnancy.
With all things seeming settled in the village Rin was more than ready and getting anxious to return home. She wanted to hug everyone starting with Hisashi and the hatchlings.
Thinking on everything she would tell them she wanted to sit with the other women and hear what had been going on in their lives as well.
She wondered how much Izumi and Iku were showing with their own pregnancies. It was nagging at her to know how Sana and Jiro were getting along, she very much hoped they would end up together.
Getting ready to pack her things for the next day she heard a commotion outside of the hut.
"Lady Rin. Lord Sesshomaru." She heard Jiro call out. It was shocking to hear him there, in the village. Feeling a ball of fear form in the pit of her stomach she went quickly out of the hut.
"Jiro." Rin looked him over. He seemed distressed.
"Rin, something has happened to the other demons at the compound. They are ill." He said. "An herb that the demon slayers used was burned and affected all of them except for me, I was far enough away and kept away. I need Sango. We need an antidote for the others."
Rin stared at him with tears forming in her eyes before nodding her head quickly. Leading him to Sangos hut he explained to her what had happened.
"Kaidokuzai root. I have plenty. Find Sesshomaru and explain to him what happened. I'll go with you to help administer it." Sango instructed.
"Thank you Lady Sango." Jiro said quickly running off even faster than his words. Rin shook and trembled.
"How did this happen? Sango, will it hurt the unborn pups? The half-breed children? Hisashi…what will it do to him? He's just a baby." Sobbing she was beside herself.
"Rin, go back to Kaedes hut with Hotaru. You shouldn't come with us for the sake of your own children." Sango said as she shook her head quickly.
"No. I have to go. They are my pack, my family. I will not abandon them when they need me." Rin said firmly. Wiping at her face she walked back to where she had been packing her things.
Coming out with her daughter swaddled securely to her she saw Jiro standing with Sesshomaru and Sango who had dressed in her demon slayer armor and had hiraikotsu on her back.
"Both of you put these on when we get closer to your compound. The masks will filter out any impurities so the air will not affect you." Sango instructed handing them both the metal face coverings.
"Rin. You are to stay here." Sesshomaru said.
"No. I won't." She replied defiantly.
"We don't have time to argue. Kirara." Sango jumped on her friends back as Sesshomaru lifted off with Jiro running on the ground.
Falling to her knees she sobbed in to her hands. "I shouldn't have left. Why did I leave?"
