Percy POV:

"Very well let us begin" Mr Brunner proceeded to open one of his desk drawers, he pulled out a bronze sword from the drawer and raised it to my chest. "Perseus Jackson!" he announced in a deep and commanding voice, "Will you do us the honor of demonstrating". I shrugged and walked up to the front of the room (BTW I had no clue if it was normal for a teacher to have a sword let alone point it at a student since I hadn't been to an actual school in five years, but it was really cool so I didn't mention it)

"Okay this game will consist of a series of questions on the basic facts about Greece such as the culture, hierarchy, myths and religion" announced Mr Brunner, "Percy will go first if he gets it wrong he will return to his desk for the remainder of the round, if he wins he will go sit and remain there until called on, this goes for the rest of you as well" then with a loud bellow "LET US BEGIN".

I of course answered correctly I was part Greek after all and my dads side of the family had a weird thing for it as well so I was well versed in the subject. After a while I was called up five more times and answered each one correctly, but slowly the rest of the class started dropping like flies. In the end it was just me and Annabeth, and this time it was a one on one battle. "Remember whoever responds the quickest with the correct answer will win the blade until the next competition, at the end of the trimester whoever has the blade shall keep it" (apparently Annabeth one once last year and got a dagger). Mr Brunner produced two red buzzers from his desk and gave one to me and the other to Annabeth.

"When you believe that you have the answer you will hit the buzzer" he looked at us for confirmation and we nodded our heads in unison, "Jake do you have the camera ready?" he asked (Jake was videotaping it in slow motion to see who would press the button first if there was any confusion) he nodded and gave Mr Brunner a thumbs up. "Okay, the final question is (Dramatic Pause) what is the Greek translation of Anaklusmos".

I remembered the answer instantly, my dad did love the water after all and I had spent many hours practicing my Greek with him. It was one of the few times we could actually do something together. I smacked down on the buzzer as fast as I could, but at the same time so did Annabeth. " Who was first" Mr Brunner asked calmly, "I was" we replied at the same time. I stared at her in confusion, "I hit the buzzer first" "What no way it was me" we started bickering about who pressed the button first. "Hold on, Jake please show us the tape", Jake hooked up the camera to the projector and we all watched the slow-mo video on the board.

It clearly showed me smacking down on the button seconds before Annabeth. "Well Perseus you were the first to hit the button go ahead and give us the translation of Anaklusmos in English, but remember if you get this wrong the win automatically goes to Annabeth. I started to sweat, I got this there was no reason to be nervous I knew the answer. "Riptide" I declared in a squeaky voice, "Was that a question or an answer" the class started laughing at Mr Brunner's statement. "The answer is riptide" I said in a more sure voice.

"Well then congratulations" "Perseus Jackson you are now the proud owner of the blade Riptide. I smiled and like the mature person I was, stuck my tongue out at Annabeth, she continued to roll her eyes and mumble something underneath her breath. "Oh I'm sorry Wise Girl what was that were you admitting that I'm actually better than you at this" I said with a cocky grin, "Whatever you got lucky, next time we'll see who's actually the best" this time I rolled my eyes at her.

Mr Brunner said that he would give me my new sword at the end of the day cause I couldn't go around the school with a sword all day. I agreed that that was the most logical idea and Annabeth snorted and asked since when was I logical, and the people within listening range proceeded to laugh at me while as I on the other hand turned red. Mr Brunner then dismissed us to lunch, and we went on our merry way.

When I entered the cafeteria I spotted the Stoll's in line and Jason, a new girl, Thalia and Luke all seated at one table. Me and Annabeth walked over towards them and they waved at us in turn. When we took our seats I turned to Jason and asked, "Who's the pretty girl sitting next to you Jace, care to introduce me" I gave her my most charming smile, and she giggled in return. The girl had choppy brown hair, a native American skin complexion and eyes that seemed to change color every other second. The girl was most definitely beautiful but I wasn't really attracted to her, I was only flirting with her to tease Jason.

Jason started to blush madly, "This i-is P-Piper" he fumbled, me and Thalia burst out laughing. "Well it's nice to meet you P-Piper" I mimicked Jason who in turn glared at me. She gave out a hearty laugh "It's nice to meet you to" she ventured "Percy" I supplied, she smiled and finished "It's nice to meet you Percy". "Wassup Homies" I answered before even turning around, "Dude please don't say "Homies" its just weird Leo" "Whatever" he grumbled in return. "Wheres everyone else" "Oh Grover and frank are on their way don't worry" "Okay" I replied.

"So Kelp Head I heard that the emo was supposed to be coming, where is he" I laughed knowing how Nico would've reacted to that "He said that first days of school were just to weird so he decided to come tomorrow" "But he'll be at the party tonight". "What party" Annabeth asked, shoot I forgot to invite her how did I forget I chastised myself

My brain did have a point, "You seriously forgot to invite her, is your brain really full of kelp" "No" I said "Yeah it's not full of kelp it's full of seaweed" Annabeth retorted. "Oh shut up It must have just slipped my mind" "Anyways you want to come tonight", "What are you guys talking about" I turned around so quickly I think my neck popped. "Oh hey Dylan we were just talking about a party I'm having to celebrate the first day of school" "Oh that sounds fun, what kind a party" "It's a karaoke party, but there will be plenty of food and drinks, you want come" I asked since he was already practically inviting himself.

"Sure, thanks man" "No problem" I said in a sarcastic voice, if he noticed the sarcasm he didn't show it. "So how bout it Wise Girl" "Yeah that sounds like fun" "Great if you want I can pick you up since you don't know where my house is" she contemplated this for a moment. "Sure when does the party start" "It starts around Nine O'clock I can pick you up at eight thirty if that's okay with you" I was really enjoying how annoyed Dylan was getting, I could feel him glaring holes into the back of my head. "Sure I'll send you my address" I gave her a lopsided smile.

"Great", "Hey Beth you wanna come with me to my table" asked Dylan giving her a hard look. I clenched my fists because I knew that he was doing this purposefully, "Oh um sure" she said in a confused tone. "By guys see you at Gym" it was followed by a chorus of bye's and see ya's. A few seconds later Frank and Grover arrived, "What's up with him". Frank asked pointing towards me. I grimaced "Nothings wrong I'm just annoyed thats all", I was coming up with an idea for tonight when suddenly (lightbulb) I decided that I was gonna write a new song, for her.
