Hold On Chapter 9: Please, a percy jackson and the olympians fanfic

Percy POV:

I started taping my fingers on the steering wheel, we had been driving in silence for the past five minutes and me being ADHD and all, I couldn't handle it.

"You want to listen to some music?" I asked braking the silence, she sent me a small smile "Sure". I (very carefully) opened my phone up and put on my playlist from Amazon Music, One of my songs (I know you probably think I'm very self centered since I have my own song on my playlist) I quickly fumbled to try and skip the song. "Leave it alone" Annabeth swatted my hand away and let the song play.

I had written the song for her, it was actually one of my first songs.

I was referring to the time when Annabeth told me she was leaving for winter break to LA, I had felt so lonely during that time and when she came back she tried to apologize and I said that there was no need.

Yesterday I went out to celebrate the birthday of a friend
But as we raised our glasses up to make a toast

Connor and Travis had been are friends when we were ten the they moved to North Carolina, and later they moved to New York. When their birthday came they had also invited Annabeth and it kind of brought the day down when I told them she didn't move with me.

I turned to look at her and was shocked when I saw tears well up in her eyes. The next song started playing and she turned to stare out the window.

Tell her

No way

Tell her

Nope nuh uh

god your so annoying, be a man and tell her

"I uh I wrote that for you you know" my voice barely above a whisper, she apparently heard me and looked at me with a sad smile. "I figured that out Seaweed Brain" I blushed and turned my eyes back onto the road.

A few minutes of (this time comfortable) silence later we pulled up to my house and I was shocked when I saw at least ten cars parked out front. I then remembered what Dylan asked in the locker room. I smacked my head against the steering wheel, "Shit" I exclaimed. Annabeth shot me a weird look and I just continued to unbuckle and exit the car.

I then proceeded to open Annabeth's door like the gentleman I was and we walked in, I heard Leo's off key singing before I even opened the door. When we entered I saw the whole basketball team and some of their girlfriends there, I also saw Drew there (Did you take note of the annoyance in my voice). I looked around the room and spotted Nico, I angrily strode towards him, "Why the hell did you let all of these people in" I said in a whisper yell.

Nico shrugged and replied, "They said you invited them so I let them in" I smacked my forehead, and Annabeth thinks I'm a Seaweed Brain. "You know what, doesn't matter I am just gonna try and make the best of it. I saw that someone set up a waiting list for karaoke so I put my name down after a kid named Max. Then I went to the back yard and saw some people playing basketball, darts, hacky sack and some people swimming (still in their clothes).

I spotted Annabeth talking to Luke and Thalia, "Hey you guys want anything to eat or drink?" "I'll have some lemonade, please" "What she means to say is that she'll take that with some rum" I rolled my eyes at Thalia. It was clear that she was already drunk so I turned to Annabeth, "Do you want hard lemonade or normal" "You know what, I'll try it " I smiled and ran upstairs. I grabbed some lemonade and then poured a shot of rum in it, I then poured myself a cup of coke with rum.

I returned outside to see Luke and Thalia heavily making out, I quickly diverted my eyes to Annabeth. She saw my face of discomfort and laughed, I handed her her cup and raised mine "To friends" "To friends" she agreed and we both took a giant gulp of our drinks. I shook my head "Whoo!" she laughed at me "Whoo!", around forty minutes later I heard Jason's voice call "Percy your up" I smiled at Annabeth and dragged her up the stairs, I almost tripped several times while doing so because me and Annabeth were both sporting our forth cup of our drinks.

For my first song I didn't want it to be to much so I had written two new songs, the first being a fast upbeat song, the second was going to be slower and nicer. "I actually just wrote this and I would like to dedicate it to my friends" everyone started cheering. I uploaded my new song and started singing.

Good Life: One Republic

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Annabeth smiling, "OKay LisTen up FolkS, If yoU waNT to ConTinue WIth KaraoKE pleaSE Do SO In ThE baCK yArD" yelled a drunken Leo. I rolled my eyes and grabbed the speaker and the tablet that we were putting the lyrics on.

I was in the middle of trying to convince Annabeth to do a backflip into the pool when Grover came around and threw his arms over our shoulders. "Dude you will not believe my luck, that hottie Juniper and I made out!" "And she said she'd go on a date with me this weekend" "Nice job G-man" I gave him a low five. "IF YOU WANT TO HAVE SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN PLEASE COME UP STAIRS TO THE CLOSET WHICH LEO IS STANDING BY" Jason yelled from the porch.

Everyone cleared out of the pool and only about twenty people remained, five were watching the karaoke, one was singing, eight were playing basket ball and the rest (besides me Grover and Annabeth) were playing darts. I turned back to Annabeth, "Watch this" I did a back flip into the pool and when I resurfaced I saw her with her arms crossed and smiling.

I exited the pool and shook my hair out, in her face I might add. "Seaweed Brain stop your not a dog" I stopped and laughed, I realized I was still dripping so I took off my shirt and wrung it out then I placed it over my shoulder. "You see it's not that hard" I noticed Annabeth was staring at my stomach, well my abs and I smirked "See anything you like" I asked cockily. Annabeth started blushing madly "Shut up" "Fine, but come on you can do a backflip" "Unless your scared" I taunted, knowing Annabeth she would get prideful and do it just to spite me.

"Fine" she said rolling her eyes, what did I tell you. She stood on the edge of the pool and jumped, I realized it to late as she hit the back of her head against the hard edge of the pool. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head. I distantly heard screaming as I shook myself from my daze. She hadn't resurfaced yet, which was really bad since not only was she drowning but she was also sinking to the bottom of a twelve foot deep pool.

I dived in after her squinting underwater, the chlorine burning my eyes. I spotted her silhouette and swam deeper towards her, I hooked my arms under her shoulders and started pulling her up with all of my strength. I gasped and sucked as mush air into my lungs as I could, I pulled Annabeth towards the stairs and when I was shallow enough I picked her up bridal style.

I placed her on the floor and put my ear against her mouth and nose to check if she was breathing, my heart dropped, I checked her pulse and it was still, my heart dropped again. Then out of nowhere someone dragged me away from her, my sight turned red "What the hell did you do to her man" "I JUST SAVED HER FUCKING LIFE, NOW IF YOU WANT YOUR GIRLFRIEND TO LIVE please let me help her".

Dylan backed away from Annabeth and I ran towards her body, everyone came from outside when they heard the ruckus. I heard some people start crying, I placed my hands over her chest and did CPR. I pressed down two times and checked her breathing, nothing, two more times, nothing, two more times, still nothing. Tears started making their way down my face, I pinched her nose and breathed air into her lungs, still nothing, two more presses, nothin, two more, nothing. "Please don't leave me Wise Girl, I'm so sorry I'm so sorry" I chocked out through tears.

I pinched her nose closed again and breathed into her mouth, "Please don't leave me Please". I pressed down on her chest two more times, nothing, I did it again.

Annabeth POV:

Everything was black I could distantly hear someone crying, why were they crying. I felt a shot of cold air seep through my body and my eyes flew open and I gasped coughing up water at the same time. I felt someone wrap their arms around my torso holding me tight, I looked up to see Percy crying and holding me, Dylan was in the back his mouth hanging wide open.

"I'm so sorry Wise Girl" he choked out "I almost lost you when I just got you back and it was all my fault". I instinctively cupped his cheeks and lightly kissed his forehead. I then hugged him as tight as I could and when I released him he looked into my eyes and one hand held my chin the other cupped my cheek.

His hand was so soft and warm unlike Dylan's which were always rough and dry. Percy leaned in close to my face and I thought that he was going to kiss me but instead he placed his forehead against mine and whispered. "I'm not gonna lose you, not ever again"
