Meeting Your Parents, Again Part 2

Location: Hollywood

Crow was a little surprised by Nightwing leaving with John so soon; he had been hoping to talk with the boy before he left, but no such luck. The older martian woman and the man who he assumed was her lover took Lucy away shortly after, again leaving him no time to talk with the girl.

He knew the older heroes had done this on purpose, thanks to his empathy abilities. The older heroes were still trying to discern if they were threats. It was a fact that annoyed him, but something he could do nothing about at the moment. He desperately needed these older heroes to trust them so they could help get them out of here.

Right now, though, he had a bigger problem, like socializing with his father's younger counterpart. He remembered little about the man, seeing as he died when he was three, but what he remembered was that he was a kind father. This version of his father, although he seemed nice, really needed to stop posting hero business online.

Back in his homeworld, if any of his friends would have posted hero business online, that person would have faced suspension or would have been kicked out of the team. Not to mention certain members of the team would have blown a gasket. The bad guys didn't need to know their every move.

Plus, it made it seem the heroes were doing this for fame, when in fact they weren't.

But he digressed. Looking around the living room full of young heroes, or so-called heroes, he felt a mixture between annoyance and awkwardness. After all, there was no manual in the world that prepared you for meeting your dead parent again.

Damian might have known. After all, his maternal grandfather had the Lazarus Pit which brought the dead back to life, or at least it did Ra's al Ghul. It couldn't heal everyone, though, as he had learned the hard way.

A soft cough snapped him out of his thoughts, and he looked around the room to see his father's counterpart slowly approach him.

Beast Boy for the first time in his life was at a complete loss of words. I mean, what do you say to a son who's literally the same age as you? Most parents had nine months to prepare for parenthood. On the other hand, he had just been told that this teen that magically appeared was his son.

He didn't have one clue on how to be a parent, let alone a parent of a teenager, mind you. And another question was bothering him, like who was this guy's mother? From the looks of him, he wasn't Perdita's.

Normally he'd ask his friends for their advice, but he doubted any of them knew how to handle a situation like this. Leaving it up to him to extend the olive branch to this stranger who shared his DNA.

He was snapped from his thoughts by a hand resting on his shoulder. Looking up, he met Jeff's sympathetic gaze. The older man looked at him comfortingly. "Hey man, you don't have to take responsibility for this kid. Nightwing can do that," he said.

Garfield smiled at him. "Thanks, Jeff, but I feel like I should at least try to make an effort with him, you know? Plus, Nightwing has his own son to worry about right now," he said, making his way over to the teen.

As he made his way over to the teen, his only thought was how this was going to be awkward.

Lucy followed M'gann and Conner, as she had learned he was called. She would be lying if she said she wasn't excited to see another martian, as it had been ages since she had hung with one of her kind.

Martian Manhunter or Uncle J'onn didn't count because he was rarely around. So most of her time had been spent with the Titans, who had gladly taken her in. After they got over suspecting her, that is. Cough, Damian, and Mar'i cough, cough.

It was funny how the people that had initially distrusted her had become the closest thing to family she had. Which was why it was so painful for her to know that they were dead; just like her first family back on Mars.

A cough from Conner brought her out of her thoughts. The clone gave her a small smile. "Here, climb in," he said, making her blink.

Looking around, she was surprised to see Sphere, of all things. She gave the couple a questioning stare.

Conner smiled at her while he petted the ship. "This is Sphere," he said.

Lucy petted Sphere. "So you have extraterrestrial technology here too? While I'm slightly surprised, I can't say I'm not happy," she said.

The couple's eyes widened, and their mouths dropped open a little. Sphere on the other hand took an immediate liking to the young martian and hummed in happiness.

Conner looked between Sphere and Lucy. "You're familiar with mother boxes and such, then?" he asked.

Lucy tilted her head. "Of course I'm familiar. Back home we had our own version of Sphere," she said, remembering the lovely creature that had been jealous of Tula and possessive of Crow.

The Titans used to tease Tula relentlessly over the fact that Sphere had a crush on her boyfriend. Tula would just roll her eyes and say, "Well, if Sphere here is my only competition then I have nothing to worry about."

Conner gave her a stern look. "Then I assume you know she is a living being and to be respected?" he said.

Lucy smiled over at the creature. "Of course I do. You don't have to worry about me hurting her or anything," she said.

Conner looked at her sternly for a moment, and then slowly smiled. "Well, it seems Sphere has taken a liking to you, so I believe you. Now how about we get out of here and head home?" he said.

Lucy smiled and flew into Sphere. "Sounds good to me," she said.

The couple smiled at her.

Draco Marsh stared in rage at his underlings. "What do you mean by you can't find them?" he asked.

The Joker, who was normally cocky and not afraid of anyone, gave the man a nervous laugh. "They escaped, boss," he said.

Marsh looked at the lunatic snidely. "And how did they do that?" he asked.

"It was the speed stress; she built a successful time machine." a voice came from the shadows.

Draco and the Joker turned and stared over at the corner as Lex Luthor stepped in to help explain. Draco looked enraged at his words, "So you're telling me that the little bitch was successful? Do you understand she has just given the last of her team the power to change history!" he said, screaming.

Luthor put a hand up. "Oh relax, I doubt they were successful. If they were successful at anything it was erasing themselves from the timeline," he said.

Draco smiled at him cruelly, "You're full of shit Luthor, you know that?" he said.

Luthor stared at him blankly. "I think I remember someone telling me that once or twice, yes," he said.

Draco walked over to him and leaned against his ear. "Then you damn well make sure those brats aren't successful. I expect you to find them and finish the job or I'll do it for you," he said.

Luthor tried to remain calm but Draco unnerved him, "Understood," he said.

Draco leaned back. "Good, now get out of my sight," he said.

John looked nervously around at all the faces staring back at him. One thought going through his head and not one his mother would be proud of, "Shit!"
