Upon Kohakus return to the compound he was greeted on the front lawn by Hisashi bounding up to him happily barking to announce his arrival.

"Hello son." He greeted bending down to scoop the pup up in his arms. "I missed you too." Kissing the top of his head between his ears he continued his walk towards the main house being met at the door by Izumi.

She smiled widely as he came up the steps and wrapped her arms around his neck kissing his lips.

"Our pups aren't the only ones here who have missed you." She said softly. Leading him inside she relieved him of his cloak and weapon placing them on the table.

"Where is everyone?" Kohaku asked not picking up on any sign Sesshomaru or Rin were there.

"Rin and Sesshomaru decided to take the day together. The children are in the back with the others. Hisashi must have sensed your presence and decided to greet you." Izumi informed him.

"Good. That will give us some time then." He stated grasping the sack he had carried back with him.

"What for?" Izumi questioned kneeling beside him.

"To present you, my lady, with a gift fitting of your position." He replied. Taking out a small wooden box with a golden clasp she sighed.

"I never asked you for a gift Kohaku." She smirked at him as he looked back at her with a cocked brow.

"Is it wrong for a husband wanting to gift his wife?"

"No."

"Alright then." Opening the box Izumi was completely taken aback at what lay in it.

"Well I'll be double damned." She whispered out tracing the piece of jewelry with her fingertip. "Wishes on stars do come true."

"Oh?" Kohaku pried intrigued. Nodding Izumi brought her gaze to his.

"Rin explained to me that when you make a wish on either a shooting star or the first star in the sky it will come true."

"I am certain in Rins world it does." He chuckled out.

"Apparently in mine it does as well. I had wished for some sign as to what our insignia should be as a mated couple. For the better part of a year I have had no idea and now you come home with it."

In the box lay a miniature replica of Kohakus kusurigama. In the middle of the blade was the sunflower emblem of the eastern house.

Taking it from the box by the chain Kohaku reached around Izumi to lay it on her forehead securing the chain in place to wind around her head over her ears.

"Beautiful." Kohaku marveled rubbing his fingers down the ornament to trail against her cheek. "I hope you like it. I had it forged from one of the links of my kusurigama so it will be able to withstand anything."

"I adore it and I will cherish it always." She confirmed leaning forward to rest her forehead against his. Winding their fingers together to hold hands Hisashi snaked his way in between them as to not be completely left out.

"Jealous little thing." Izumi giggled out as they placed their hands against his fur.
