Martian Talk:

Happy Harbor: SuperMartian House.

Lucy followed Conner and M'gann into their home. To be honest, she was a little nervous since this was the first time she'd been separated from her team. Sure, she was in the presence of another martian, but this martian was of another dimension, so she was with a stranger.

M'gann, sensing the younger martian's distress, flashed her a smile. "It's okay, Lucy. Conner and I won't bite you," she said. The moment she said that, though, Wolf entered the room. The canine immediately noticed Lucy, and at which point, he tilted his head in confusion.

Conner put his hand up to Wolf. "It's okay, boy, we just got a new houseguest. Wolf, say hello to Lucy. Lucy, meet Wolf," he said.

Lucy, mesmerized by Wolf's size, transformed into a wolf and went over to the canine. M'gann and Conner watched in fascination as the two introduced themselves properly. Once Lucy was done saying hello to Wolf, she transformed back into her human form, where she promptly received a kiss from Wolf.

The little martian smiled and gently patted the canine's muzzle before smiling over to her new guardians. "I like him," she said, earning a smile from the two.

Conner walked over and rubbed Wolf's ears. "I'm glad you two are getting along. Now why don't we show you to your room?" he said.

Lucy nodded and followed the couple to a decent-sized bedroom. The room was smaller than the one she'd had at the tower but still big enough that she could be comfortable. "Thank you, this will do nicely," she said.

M'gann just smiled when she realized Lucy didn't have any essential items with her. "Um, Lucy, did you pack a suitcase or anything?" she asked.

Lucy froze at the question and began rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment. "Um, well, I wasn't planning on dimension-hopping, so no, I didn't," she said.

M'gann nodded. "I thought that might be the case, so why don't we go to the mall later and buy you some clothes?" she said.

The younger martian looked down shyly. It had been a long time since she'd been shopping. "I'd like that, thank you," she said.

The older martian smiled, "Great, now why don't we have lunch," she said.

At the word lunch, Lucy's stomach growled. She blushed in embarrassment. "I would love to have some," she said.

M'gann nodded and began walking towards the kitchen, Lucy and Connor following her. As the older martian began making the sandwiches, she decided this was a good time to get to know the girl better. She would be lying if she said she wasn't curious. "So Lucy, how long have you lived on Earth back in your homeworld?" she asked.

Lucy took a seat on one barstool. "About four years," she said.

Conner and M'gann shared a glance. The couple was curious why a martian so young would come to Earth. Conner smiled at her. "So what made you come to Earth?" he asked.

The younger martian sighed, "There wasn't anything left for me on Mars," she said.

The answer startled the duo. M'gann stopped what she was doing and looked at Lucy. "What do you mean by that, Lucy? Don't you have any family there?" she asked, nervously.

The younger martian was quiet for a few minutes before looking up at the couple. The two were taken aback by the pain in her eyes. Lucy sighed, "No, I mean there weren't Martians left. I don't know how it is in this world, but back home Martian Manhunter and I are the only Martians left," she said.

The couple looked horrified. "Oh my God," M'gann whispered.

Lucy, wanting to change the subject, quickly brought up a lighter topic. "It's okay, I had great friends that made up the loneliness," she said.

M'gann didn't smile. "I'm glad you had friends, but what happened?" she said. The idea of her race being nearly extinct scared her. What if what happened in Lucy's world happened here?

Lucy began playing with a piece of her hair. "It's a long story, but to sum it up, we were invaded by Apokolips. Most of our race was wiped out. Those who survived that later died of plague. I had no choice but to leave," she said.

The couple looked stunned. Connor looked at her sternly. "Did you say Apokolips?" he said.

Lucy nodded and waved her hands dramatically. "Yep, good old Apokolips, where Darkseid rules. Believes himself to be a god. He also has a nasty habit of invading and destroying alien planets for fun," she said.

M'gann gulped, "Lucy, is he the reason your team was trying to time travel?" she asked.

Lucy's eyes widened. "Oh, no! Earth isn't even on his radar right now," she said.

Connor quirked an eyebrow. "That's good, I guess, but then why did you guys need to time travel?" he said.

The younger martian sighed, "I can't reveal that right now," she said.

The couple dropped the topic, for now. It would be addressed later.
