"Huh?... Agh my head." As he woke up, he reached his right arm to his head but was unable to feel the limb at this moment. "What?"
He quickly looked where his right arm was. There was now nothing but a bleeding stump, dripping blood onto the ground and pooling around blue and white flowers. The floor also had geometric objects that were next to the flowers, which were tinted in crimson.
"What the fuck?!" he stared at it for several seconds in shock, and fright though curiously he didn't feel any pain, but the horror of seeing nothing but a stump still remained.
In a panic, he scanned for something to stop the bleeding, and he stopped at his own shirt. He took off his before emerald-colored uniform now tainted red and then tore some parts off it.
Just one problem, Noel didn't have any idea how the hell he was going to do a tourniquet.
"Fuck that. I'll worry later." And he didn't care one bit, he only cared for stopping the bleeding.
He put the piece of green cloth, in such a manner that it covered his stump.
Then with some difficulty with his left arm, and his mouth he was capable of making tourniquet a clumsy one at that but good enough to stop the stump from bleeding.
All the while he didn't notice that the pools of crimson on the dirt sprouted those blue flowers, the random objects, and a bizarre mix of the two.
After considerable time trying to calm down, he eventually walked, and he took a good look at his surroundings, needless to say, this garden was odd.
The sky didn't look like fractal glass, there was also that one occasion in which he stepped on one of the objects (on the size of a wooden plank) scattered on the dirt, his feet had gone right through it like it wasn't even there.
Apart from accentuating the sense of eeriness of the place, It also made him feel that this was only to mess with his head on purpose, or something.
"How did I end up here?" Indeed, how? Why did an explosion knock him out to this? I mean unless there was a type of dust, that could send you to another reality by combusting right in your face, which could be possible with Gravity and time dust, but to his knowledge, it was very unlikely, and not at all how dust worked.
….
Unless he was…...
A shiver run down his body, His eyes widened, quickly moved his head from side to side in denial, and started breathing slowly trying to keep a cool head.
He felt alive, he is alive, there was no way in hell he was fucking death again.
though his mind harbored some doubts. After all, he didn't feel any pain in the stump when he woke up.
Shaking his head from side to side visibly disturbed by the implication, he tried to distract himself by scanning the area where he was standing.
He inspected the area to see if there was a unique landmark, apart from the random crap on the floor, and the weird glass-like sky.
What he found was a tree in the middle of the plane that was this garden, the white, silver, and blue colored of the leaves of the natural structure helped distinguish it from the rest of the plant life on the dirt.
He also noticed that below the tree there was a person. But he could only distinguish a silhouette.
"Well at least I am not the only person here," he thought. "He maybe knows something about how I ended up here."
With that in mind, he marched towards the three.
He underestimated the size of the now titanic natural structure, and the roots made him feel small in comparison.
Now that he saw it he realized that some of the roots were not natural, and he swore that some of them were made out of metal because they shone with reflected light.
Also, as he walked to the Behemoth, he noticed that the objects became more constant, flowers were more vibrant in their colors, and he saw a bizarre hybrid between them.
Out of curiosity, Noel got closer to one of the hybrids and touched it to see the reaction of the unusual Breed.
Nothing, save from the fact that the flower changed its shape. Front dodecahedron to a sphere in an instant, he played with plants for a moment, making changes in a variety of new aspects.
"Ok, that was interesting," he said, "What a weird place"
He instantly realizes the irony in his statement he let out a cackle, after all, he came for a place that if you are living in a dingy little village, you die by the emotion detecting soulless demons, or by the batshit nuts megafauna of the Planet.
Not to mention the weird animal people hybrids, the blatant soul enhanced superhumans, fucking Magic, dust, and the freaking guardian spirit/human weapons that were capable to fuse to said superhumans. The whole feud between a wizard and his totally batshit insane ex was better left unsaid for the sake of his sanity.
"Yeah what a weird place, I come from Remnant for fucks sake," He thought out loud, why was he even surprised by that crap at this point?
"I would say this place is odder than Remnant," said a voice behind him "but, meh, you get used to it eventually."
In surprise, Noel turned behind him and saw a pair of silver irises staring back at him.
And they were too close to his face.
More than a little alarmed, he hastily backed out not looking where he was stepping, stumbling on the root that made him fall on his ass.
"Gah! Shit" Noel cursed while massaging his presumably injured posterior with his good arm. Of course, he didn't feel any pain, it was out of habit more than anything else.
The girl with those silver eyes simply did a giggle amused at what happened.
She offered him a hand to lift him, he answered by growling in annoyance, as soon as he laid his eyes on her, he immediately recognized her, she was that phantom in blue from earlier!
He quickly crawled out using his good arm, as a method of locomotion to get a good distance away from her.
"What The fuck?!"
"Hey, before you run, please hear what I am about to say."
The only reason wasn't yelling like a maniac right now, and running like a headless chicken, was because he was in a state of shock. His mind didn't know how to respond, he wanted to run away, but a part of him for some reason made him froze.
He was stuck in place because of fear, in anticipation of what would happen.
When she saw this the Bluenette sighed. She approached him, crouching down to his level, and put her arm on Noel's shoulder making him flinch as if her arms were made out of fire.
"Do not be afraid of me, I am not going to harm you" she assured him.
"Why should I trust you?" Noel thought, for all he knew she was the one responsible for throwing him in this goddamn place. Unfortunately, his face was an open book.
"I am not the one responsible for this." she responded to the nonverbal question "If I was I wouldn't bother to try calming you, and we both would be stuck in this situation." she offered her arm again.
This seemed to calm him, but he was still in alert mode. He grabbed her arm to get up the floor, when he touched her hand he felt something abnormal. Her skin felt like a metal panel. Not only that, her hands felt like metallic sandpaper.
Now that he saw it more attentively, her skin shone as if it were metal, Noel acknowledges that this was because Tsukumogami like Corsea Morse acquired characteristics of his weapon forms (in his opinion it was something beautiful, and creepy as hell)., but she didn't have characteristics similar to the weapon in the chamber from earlier. However, this was not important now.
"Now could you please explain by what the hell is this place?" He demanded with impatience.
Instead of responding, she turns her head to the left, looking at the distance as if she was perceiving something Noel couldn't. Although this came up as dismissive from Noel's perspective.
"Hey!"
"You know? It is not necessary for people to look at you to talk, right?!" She addressed him, annoyed at his demand "hmm We still have time to talk before you wake up."
The only thing he could vocalize at her answer was a flat " eh?"
"To not beat around the proverbial bush too much, you got knockout by the explosion, and I fuse with your arm to stop you from bleeding to death," she told him already confirming his suspicions about her, and how they got in this situation, she also did a short pause letting her words sink in. "and is not purgatory, by the way, is sort of like a mind meld? I don't understand either."
"Well that certainly explains the rest of this surreal place, and by fussing, you meant you are a Tsukumogami hu?" asked the Blonde he was familiar with the ability of fusion that the tsukumogami, and their partners have bolstering the abilities of both.
Her face changed into a melancholic expression, her shoulder shagged, and her eyes dimmed as if she was remembering a sad history." I am not a full tsukumogami though I... I am some kind of hybrid. Not really a Tsukumogami"
Her mannerisms along with her expression. Make Noel wince for setting off that landmine.
"I am sorry if I touched a sensitive subject," Noel said apologizing for his perceived lack of filter in his mouth.
"Eh? No, no, no you didn't know" the Pseudo Tsukumogami said, not wanting to make Noel more uncomfortable that. he already was.
Noel made a nervous smile while at the same time he looked around the place trying to think of something to change the subject although he still had a question. Mainly "also what do you mean we are both stuck together?"
"By that I meant, we are blended together, and so far, this is permanent," she said with a weak smile on her face that contrasted with Noel "are you fucking kidding me?!" expression.
Noel Groaned. This was not only absurd but it was guaranteed to put him in an awkward discussion with his family though internally he was really glad that his question got her out of her negative mood.
"Anyways," he said, "can you tell me how we got, well like this?"
"This is probably speculation but let's just say my nature, and your Kooky Soul got us in this problem in the first place," she said
"Lady, so far my soul didn't do crap like this, also what is Kooky?" Noel replied what was wrong with his soul?
"First: kooky means weird, second: is just a Hypothesis but when I fussed with I suddenly wasn't capable of getting out, It feels like something was dragging me in and didn't let me go." She explained her theory.
"Amm, ok, how? and..." he plainly responded until he realized something, he didn't have any aura. the assumed terrorist attack happened "wait did you just Unlock my Aura?"
"Well I didn't have time to do the slow ritual since you were dying" the hybrid explained as if was not something to be worried about "I just kind of forced it"
He looked at her for one solid minute.
….
Why did he feel violated all of a sudden? went he thought like that a memory sur- " No" he stopped that train of thought, it was neither the place nor the time to think about that issue about his past life.
"Ok I understand you did to save my life, but that kinda makes me feel uncomfortable," Noel said dryly, after all, who would want a stranger to mess around with, with what's essentially your whole existence without you having any choice in the matter? "Thank you, anyways"
"Meh don't worry is the least I can do after, I startle you," the bluenette said affably while shrugging her shoulder.
Noel put his left hand on his head, and scratched it "about that why did you do that?"
"Oh, that, well you can blame your soul again for that" she confessed while pointing at Noel chest " I sensed something odd and wanted to look at what it was, and what a surprise you could see me, you don't have any idea how long I was without talking with somebody
Noel was about to ask how old she was. she realized he didn't know her name, " ermm sorry for not asking you earlier but what's your name?"
She just smiled and put her hand over his mouth almost as she was containing a giggle "guess you were very invested in the conversation hu?
Noel let a giggle and put his left hand to scratch the back of his head, he always has this issue once he talked with people he didn't ask about names because he was too focused in a conversation to care.
"My name is Teresa Sentina and yours?" The girl known as Teresa raised her right hand for courtesy's sake.
"Noel arc," Noel said his name grabbing her arm in a sight of appreciation.
"Oh? I didn't know you have the same last name as that soldier." Teresa said this made Noel throw her a questioning glance. So, she knew about somebody with the same last name?
One part of his mind wanted to shrug it up as nothing more than a coincidence, but the more cautious part that he often got somewhat paranoid told him this was far too much of a coincidence.
Plus, knowing narrative bullshitery went it happened somewhat helped, though of course, he shouldn't assume that was all the time. He didn't want to get bitten in the ass for being diluted enough to think he was a character in a book.
"How old are you?"
"I am probably around 88? Or something... I kind of lost track of time though."
"So much older than my mental age Hu?" he thought, he also vaguely remembered that his father said that his grandfather did fight in the great war around that time.
"Oh, you are older than I thought," Noel said, however, I didn't stop him from asking something dumb " so why aren't you a wrinkly old woman?"
She looked at him with an impassive mask that quite frankly made him nervous, then it turned to a frozen glare.
"Because I eat my Vegetables?" she responded in the most sarcastic manner possible at the silly question.
Only for Noel to throw at her a confused face "emm I don't think Vegetables are capable of doing that. I meant you are a... Pseudo Tsukumogami" aaand right there one of many defective light bulbs in his head turned up, making him feel like a total dumb ass.
She stared at him with the same frozen glare and pantomimed with her hand with a gesture that suggested keep going.
"Sorry for that my head is a bit of an accelerated mess" Noel apologized while putting his left hand on his face embarrassed for that blunder.
"I see that "she dropped the glare, and relaxed, however internally she has the feeling these wouldn't be the last of his peculiarities." now that you asked me my age what is yours?"
For a brief second Noel's face contorted into a gesture of discomfort, but it quickly disappeared, becoming a poker face.
"Did I touch something sensible?"
"Ah, yeah short off, you actually make me remember my actual age," he said like it was something he wouldn't want to actually focus on, he would rather forget it
This made Teresa perked up in curiosity, so he too was older than he looked.
"Just ask me a favor, don't tell anybody about this."
She nodded.
"I am 39 years old…. mentally at least," Noel said adding the last sentence to make it clear that his mind was older rather than his body.
"He!, and you asked me why I didn't look like a wrinkly old woman" Teresa poked fun at him, which led to him growling and letting a sound similar to an annoyed mule.
" Jodete " he said in his original language when he was alive, making her look at him in confusion. It is a good thing too since he insulted her with the equivalent of Fuck you in Spanish.
But before she could respond Beryl felt the same sensation from before a look at the Fractured horizon.
"Looks like you're going to wake up soon" the brunette declared,
"Ah ok, well, take care and that the gods bless ya," Noel says goodbye casually as if he were saying goodbye to a friend, or acquaintance.
"Equally...ah before I forget" she reciprocated in kind however she said the following as if she was remembering to give him a gift before leaving "you are going to have a new arm"
"Wait, ... What?" was the only thing he said processing the words that she had spoken.
"You see since it was partially my fault that you lost your arm, I rebuilt it as a form of payment for it, I also fixed a part of your face," she said as if it was not uncommon to rebuild someone's severed arm. "Though I didn't complete the process on your arm, I was about to finish went you talked to me"
His eyes widened like saucers, and he opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but nothing came out not knowing as if he didn't know what to say.
But somehow, he still managed to get the first words that came to mind.
"First: That's weird as hell and second: Thank you"
"Just don't be silly, and they start hitting him against anything, I'm that arm" Teresa warned, of course, that she did not have to worry much, the first impression of him did not give her any idea that he was a bad host.
"EH! Do you think I'm stupid enough to do that?" Noel replied to her with a serious answer not understanding that she was teasing him?
At that moment a light enveloped him, to later feel a feeling of tiredness, he tried to stay awake but eventually, his body beat him, causing the curtain of his consciousness to close.
He woke up greeted by a white ceiling, alongside a beam of light that undoubtedly came from a nearby window, he also heard the beeps of a machine beside him, and the feeling of comfort that only a hospital bed could give, he didn't need to guest that he has a hospital Gown too.
Everything was fine for the most part save for the fact that he felt an irritating itch on the right side of his face and right eye, that he promptly got rid of using his left arm to scratch the offending surface.
The light was also mildly annoying but no more than the itch.
After feeling satisfied with the result, he stopped scratching, though he probably scratched off some of the skin on his face given the stinging feeling of pain, and he kept staring at the ceiling until he found a detail just at the corner of his eye at the on his right.
"Is... that a blue flower trying to become a hand?" Noel thought, he then saw the rest of the construct, instead of being thin, the stem of the plant had been filled with organic material as if it were trying to simulate muscle. The fake arm was also much longer than normal with the flesh pretty warped.
He would scream after witnessing such grotesque spectacle, but after seeing that strange garden, and talking to Teresa, he no longer had the energy for that emotion.
"To be honest up to this point, what am I going to be scared about? But damn, I hope this is not an indication of what will come in the future. What's next, ancient mole people?" Noel thought, tempting his luck again.
You could say this was a spectacular gift from Teresa to make him feel better in a terrifying way. Now that I thought about it.
He shook his head scanning the room with white mosaics, looked at a blue table that had a yellow flower (he did not know what kind of plant species it was) and balloons that had the words on them; "We hope you get better with love father, mother, Annabelle, Saphron, Maria, Jaune, Betty, Alicia, Melisa, and Melinda."
When he looked at that, a smile appeared on his face. The Arcs were a very close family, and he was grateful that he had been reborn as the Brother of Jaune for that very reason.
This reminded him a lot of his past family, this resulted in his smile disappearing, replaced by a monotonous face that quickly turned into a nostalgic grimace.
He missed them very much despite the fact that they were really annoying, and he spent many happy moments, of support, suffering, and pain.
And now he was dead in his original world.
a world he could not return.
...
...
"Don't think like that idiot, the last thing you want is to be even more pessimistic than you are," Noel thought, he needed to be distracted by something, anything, he tried to think of an idea, but nothing came to him ... except for a dream of the day before-past, that he had with a strange amorphous pillar.
He had no idea what the hell he took to make his dream like that, apart from the nightmares of course which for some reason were even weirder.
"Fucking mangled kids in a grave." he thought complaining about how disturbing that experience was. "Why couldn't it have been something less full of gore? Fucking mental gremlin"
However, his train of thought was interrupted by a whistling sound.
He raised his torso with the help of his left hand and moved his head towards the window that was next to his face.
When Noel looked out, he noticed tree branches and a clear day with a blue sky.
In the branches, there was a blackbird, except the creature's red chest, that was whistling.
"Heh!" Noel intoned this the landscape along with the singing of the had made him relax a little "What am I complaining about? It's a good day, and I'm alive."
Indeed, he still drew breath, and maybe he lost his arm, but they are growing a new one that also happens to be a girl.
When he realized what he was thinking, his brain froze at the revelation.
"Fuck, this is a sign of things to come, isn't it?" he thought.
He prayed that the strange shit that was coming to him in the future wasn't stupidly dangerous.
Because he had the feeling that he had climbed, without wanting to, onto a roller coaster that didn't have any breaks.
