And I have returned! Apologies for the longish break, I was busy finishing up an original book and then going back to work and now there are some talks about me potentially joining the army, so hey, I've been busy! However, I am not going to forget you guys and I will come back as much as I can whenever I have time to sit down and write for a few hours. I say that and I am sitting here right now as I type this and I literally have an hour before I go working out with my recruiter and several other applicants all preparing their bodies to get ready for basic training. So that should be fun! One hour is all I got? Eh, ez pz as the pro gamers say.
YBWR
Chapter 17- Worst Disaster Ever
The old owner of one of the most famous dust stores in all of Vale was sadly having trouble taking down a neon-lit sign that displayed the store's name. He just wasn't as young as he used to be, and the weight of the neon sign was threatening to topple down and crush him. Still, he tried, if he was being forced to close down his own store because of the constant fear of being robbed by the Blue Revolt then it just wasn't worth the stress. It was time to bake into that retirement money and return to his original home in Mistral for the rest of his days. But first things first, he had to take down this damn sign!
"Ah!" The old man yelped as he felt a hitch in his back. He lurched forward and held on to the glass, holding himself up before he could topple over in pain. "Damn vertebrae, can't you behave until I get onto the train at least?"
"Hello sir," A dark-skinned man grabbed his attention, his light blue-green-black hair was partially slicked back while the sides hung down to the sides of his head. His eyes were of a similar color and there was a noticeable casual wag of what appeared to be a fluffy dog tale, blue-green and white in color, behind him. He wore a coat matching the color of his hair with accents of white, and his pants looked made for huntsmen, a pure black in color. The young man smiled at the much older one coyly, tilting his head when he gestured to the man's obvious injury with his back. "It looks like you need some help with that, need a hand?"
"Ah, thank you son," The owner said as he leaned back onto an empty wooden crate set in front of the adjacent window. "These bones and muscles just aren't what they used to be, sadly. You're a huntsman in training? You have the looks of one."
"Good guess as any," Marrow said with a soft chuckle as he reached up to the neon sign easily weighing over sixty pounds, and took it down with little effort. The old man hadn't expected it to be done so easily and moved aside so the young man could put it on a rolling stand to take into a truck later. "There, that should cover it."
"Hah! That covers it alright, thank you." The old man said, eagerly shaking Marrow's hand with both hands. "There's too little young ones like you who would help an old man like that. Listen, I am about to leave for Mistral to retire, 'else I'd have offered you a discount for helping me. Sadly, I don't have any stock left, but if there is anything you need let me know, you hear?"
"Well, how about giving me some directions to certain weapons and ammo store?" Marrow said, reaching into his breast pocket and taking out a green sticky note with an address written on it with red ink. "A friend and I are running low on supplies and we're not really around here. We plan on participating in the Vytal Festival Tournament, and it'll be sorta hard to win it if we don't have enough ammo, y' know?"
"Ah, yes! Of course, it's the least I can do for an upstanding young huntsman in training such as yourself. Let's see here…" The old man took a look at the sticky note. "235 Drive on Tech street. It ain't too far around here, just around the corner, go straight three blocks, make a right, and it'll be on the left-hand side. Can't miss it, the owner had her face made into a damn sign like that one," The man said with some noticeable resentment. Perhaps they had some kind of rivalry in the past? Marrow wasn't sure, but he honestly didn't really care to know either way.
"Got it, thanks for the help old man. Try and not break your back while I'm away, you hear?" Marrow said as he started walking away and back to where his lovely unwilling partner was waiting.
"Hah! Careful boy, you may be able to take on Grimm like it's no big deal but one day you'll be dealing with the same problems as I."
"If I can make it that far, I might remember what you just said." Marrow thought. Deciding to keep that thought a mere thought was easy and quick to make. "We'll see about that. See you later, old man." Marrow waved back at the man as he turned around, dropping the plastic smile and shaking his head as he stuck his hands in his pockets. He turned the corner and saw a pair of pink eyes instantly lock onto his.
"Well?" Harriet asked impatiently. "You got what we need?"
"I did," Marrow confirmed. "Not too far from where we are now. Just follow me and I'll take us there."
"Fine by me, just don't try and get behind me," Harriet warned.
"Trust me, behind you is the last place I want to be."
"The hell's that's supposed to mean?"
"Exactly how you heard it," Marrow countered, smirking when he saw Harriet instantly start flashing the electric aura of her semblance. "Careful with that. You may be able to move at the speed of sound but all I need to say is one word and you'll be as slow as a slug. Unless you want to re-enact how we first met?"
"Tch, fuck you Marrow." Harriet said as she pushed him away with one arm. Marrow laughed and let it happen. Call it a power trip, but it was nice being able to control her like that so easily. He really was the perfect counter to her, any kind of speed-type semblance was the absolute worst thing to be put up against his time-dilating semblance. Without it, he'd probably have been killed by Harriet already. It kept her in check, and thankfully Glenn liked that a lot. "Did you at least steal any of that guy's money? I was watching, and you had plenty of chances to reach into his pocket."
"Why do I need his money?" Marrow asked as if he was offended by the question itself. "We literally have all the money we could ever want in two accounts made for us by Oobleck. There's literally no point in pickpocketing ever again."
"It's the fun and practice of it that matters at this point. You're going to get rusty, and the moment Glenn asks you to steal something right out from someone's pocket, what're you going to do?" Harriet asked.
"What'd I do is tell him that he should send you instead," Marrow said as he held out a hand. "Give it back."
"Hmph," Harriet reached into her bra and pulled out a thin brown wallet. "Why do you even need a wallet anyway? All you need is the credit card."
"Maybe it's because I like having a wallet, Harriet."
"You're just jealous that you can't hide stuff in your titts like I can."
"Titts? What titts?" Marrow asked, leaning forward and checking Harriet's chest to see if he could find some breasts. "I don't see a whole lot of titt here. It's more like you're hiding them in your bra, which is padded so it looks like your titts are bigger. I know, because I checked."
"You little-"
"Stay," Right as Harriet threw her punch, Marrow activated his semblance. Harriet came to an almost complete stop, her fist going through the air an inch every ten seconds. Marrow whistled fluently as he slowly and agonizingly sidestepped the strike. Her perspective was skewed. Marrow's semblance didn't just make her body slower, but her mind perceived everything as impossibly slow at the same time. While still whistling, Harriet was forced to watch as Marrow kicked out one of her legs, looked her right in the eyes. "Go."
Harriet gasped as she threw herself on the ground, her aura flashing as her face bounced off of the pavement. Marrow laughed his ass off as Harriet pushed herself up off the ground and almost threw another punch at Marrow. She thought twice about it, however, stopping when she saw that Marrow was still keeping an eye on her. Sighing explosively, Harriet sheathed in anger and crossed her arms.
"You're a real pussy, Marrow."
"You'll get over it," Marrow said as he started to recover from his unrelenting laughter. "Alright, alright, whew. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. The way you just make you so confident and seeing you fall on your ass like that and realizing that you literally can't do anything to me because of my semblance is just priceless. But think about it, I won't have to do that if you stop being a big ol' B word."
"Shut up," Harriet stood to the side and pointed forward. "And take me to that damn weapons store. I'll be sure to punch something there."
"Ah, that's a good idea." Marrow said as he started walking off, Harriet following at a distance as he did so. "Use something else to vent your anger, that's always a better alternative than trying to take it out on me."
The weapons and ammunition store that they were supposed to find was apparently called "Cordovan's weapons and ammunition, home to every bullet under the moon." and it also featured a blaring egotistical sign that was flashing light of an image of an older woman's face. Upon seeing it, Marrow and Harriet knew that they were definitely at the right spot.
"You'd think that after ditching the Blue Revolt, she'd try to not stand out a little harder." Harriet said with a constant shake of her head. "It's hurting my eyes just looking at it… I hate it, we're definitely destroying that."
"Hey, you're the ones with the bionic arms," Marrow said with a smirk. "You can punch whatever you want in there. Speaking of, what should we pretend to be when we go in there this time? A couple? Just a pair of friends? Teammates?"
"You wish you were any of those." Harriet scoffed. "You can handle it however you want. I'm going to check and see if she is right about that catch phrase of hers."
"Hm, fair enough." Marrow replied. Usually he'd try and do some gimmick just for some fun but for now he decided that it wasn't entirely necessary, he already messed with Harriet enough as it is today, he'd feel too bad if he picked on her too much. "Alrighty then… do what you want, and I'll give you the perfect chance to release some of that anger, eh?"
Harriet grinned evilly at the very thought. "Now you're speaking my language, Amin."
The little bell at the top of the door entering the shop dinged digitally as Marrow and Harriet made their way into the store. The owner didn't seem to be at the front desk at the moment, but she called out to them letting them know that she'd be right there to help them. In the meantime, Harriet immediately made her way to the buckshot section, testing out some of the mechanical attachments able to be applied to almost any kind of huntsmen weapon, and cocking each one as she went through them one by one. Marrow went over to an ammunition desk holding rifle ammo specifically made for assault rifles. He didn't let Harriet know, but he was curious about the truthfulness about that catchphrase as well. He didn't get the chance to get a good look at all of them when the owner came out of a backroom, her diminutive form scrambling up to a set of small stairs that made her look like she was barely four feet tall. That was definitely Cordovan, Marrow thought as he looked at the woman through the corner of his eyes. She was the first tiny person even smaller than Neo he'd seen.
"Hello, welcome to my shop! Home to every bullet under the moon," Cordovan said eagerly as she clasped her hands together. "Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Just checking out a few things," Marrow said absentmindedly as he crouched down in front of the desk and placed a hand on his chin. "Have any 5.56?"
"Of course! I would never pass up on the opportunity to have as much of the most common rifle ammunition out there," Cordovan said.
"And 9MM?"
"For the same reasons, although those are mostly used for pistols and submachine guns, not for rifles I'm afraid."
"Hmm… so far so good, but those are the easy ones." Marrow said as he stood up and made his way toward the register, leaning against the desk as he leaned his head on one hand. "What about .308? You gotta have that too, it's a good bullet if you want to hide the flash and power expulsion from the barrel, actually," Marrow held up a finger, silencing the old woman right as she was about to speak. "You don't need to answer that, of course, you have .308… It's nice to have all these options, buuuut, what about Key Point Assault Rifle-specific rounds?"
"Oh… um…" Cordovan scratched the back of her head nervously. "That's an illegal bullet type, I'm afraid. I am not allowed to sell that here."
"So," Marrow victoriously smirked. "You don't have every bullet under the moon."
Cordovan looked at him strangely. "It is just a catchphrase. I simply thought it was clever."
"Only its a lie," Harriet said, cocking back the chamber of another shotgun mechanism almost threateningly. "You're lying to everyone who comes in here. I don't like liars." Shrugging off her coat, Harriet revealed herself to be wearing a white tank top and sporting two mechanically cybernetic arms. Completely encased in metal and glowing blue in some spots. Cordovan looked at her and narrowed her eyes, somehow not surprised to see her. "Liars don't have a place in this world."
"Just like you lied to the Blue Revolt when you swore that you would be with them until the day you died," Marrow continued for his partner. "Let's cut to the chase now, shall we? You know why we're here."
"I do…" Cordovan said as she reached down underneath the register.
"And you know what we're about to do to you as well, right?"
"You can certainly try!" Whipping out a revolver and aiming it in Marrow's face, Cordovan went to pull the trigger.
"Stay," Marrow said casually, watching as Cordovan's finger very slowly applied pressure on the trigger. Marrow laughed and shook his head as he continued to watch Cordovan's vague efforts to speed herself up, but failed miserably. "Man, my semblance really is a gift and a half. I know you can still hear me, Cordovan. I'll explain what's happening; I used my semblance on you, I like to call it Freeze Command. I can basically look at you, and all I have to do is say my activation word. After that, everything you do and see is slowed down by tens of times. I don't know the exact calculations, but I do know that while you're in this state, you fully perceive everything that is happening around you. But that is only if I keep it that way. For right now, you can watch and feel in real time as my partner here beats you into a bloody paste with those robot fists of hers," Marrow said as he walked away from Cordovan and placed a hand on Harriet's shoulder. "And trust me, she's been ravenous to shed some blood lately."
Cordovan was forced to watch as Marrow shut off the lights in her shop while Harriet stalked over to her. The first punch was agony, but the muscles in her throat were too slow to allow her to scream, but she felt her jaw dislocate, and every fist from there was like agony. The injuries that she sustained quickly became fatal, and only after one long hell of a minute as Harriet punched her again and again without showing any mercy, did Marrow decide to drop his semblance.
Cordovan instantly fell to the floor, falling off of her steps in a puddle of her own blood.
Harriet was sure to destroy the neon sign on the way out.
Weiss sketched out the hair of her sister in a sketchbook disguised as a notebook. Her pencil lead was just about to run out and she had finished just in time. It was a facing away pose that she often saw her sister pull off whenever she was looking off in the distance, whether it was to watch out for people chasing them or those rare moments of peace that she allowed herself to feel when she thought that she was alone. Thankfully since it was a back view and not a frontal view Weiss didn't have to draw her face. If it were otherwise, she would have had to draw the mask. It was sad of her to think about the fact that she hadn't truly seen her elder sister's face in what felt like years, but she had changed so much and never took off the mask anymore except to eat more comfortably or bathe herself. Sighing to herself, Weiss leaned in on one wrist and tapped the tip of her pencil on the paper upon completing the sketch. She wasn't the best in the world, but she quite enjoyed the feeling of stroking graphite against a sheet of paper so many times and forming shapes and then forming those shapes into a person or object. She used to sketch quite often but hadn't been able to find the time for it recently. She just figured that while she was in the lunchroom, it was as good a time as any.
"That looks good," Blake's voice caught her off guard, and Weiss instinctively covered up the sketchbook with her hands. "I mean it," Blake continued, looking up from the paper and to her eyes. "You did a good job."
"Y-You were watching me?" Weiss asked, gulping nervously as she watched Blake nod her head.
"I was, sorry," Blake replied. "I was just curious…"
"Hmph, there is a saying about cats and curiosity…"
"It hasn't cost me one of my nine lives yet."
Weiss had to bring a hand up to her lips to stop herself from laughing. Where did that come front? Blake making her laugh… if this were several weeks ago, Weiss would have said it was impossible. Now though, she didn't hate it. Ever since the docks, her relationship with Blake was like black turning white on a morality scale. They became more patient with each other, and clearly, Blake had started becoming more comfortable with her. The thought of that made her think that she owed Blake for that, perhaps she should let her guard down around her for once…
"This is my sister," Weiss said as she slowly took her hands away from her sketchbook. Through the corner of her blue eyes, she watched Blake's yellow scan the paper once again. "She often took a pose like this when she was alone. Either to look out for… you know, and then other times she is just admiring a beautiful sight. I've seen it plenty of times and I've been thinking about her lately…"
"You miss her?" Blake asked.
"I…" Weiss bit her lip, thinking about it hardly. "I believe so…? I miss what she used to be, and what she is now… is that bad?"
"Not at all," Blake assured her. "Missing what someone used to be like is something I am quite familiar with."
"Really?" Weiss seemed surprised, she truly didn't think Blake of all people would have something so personal in common with her. "Who is that?"
"My mother…" Blake sighed. "I won't go into details, but she once was a very loving and affectionate woman… but now… the only love and affection she gives is a bottle of alcohol."
"Oh, I see…" Weiss said, coughing into her fist nervously. "My sister was… well, I'm sure you have heard of her, being the heiress to the WFC and all."
"I do." Blake replied without looking at her. "She became a source of stress for my father, one among many more."
"She wasn't always like that," Weiss explained, somehow feeling the feeling to come to her sister's defence. "She wanted to be a huntress at first, and she was one. She was at the top of her class and graduated as valedictorian as well. But… ever since my brother… you know that story."
"I do." Blake said, nodding her head sorrowfully. "I am sorry about that… I know it had nothing to do with me, but, it is truly disgusting that something like that happened to you and your family. I will make it my goal to make sure that the Blue Revolt has nothing to revolt over anymore."
Weiss smiled. "Thank you, Blake."
"You're welcome." Blake smiled back at her. The two realized how friendly they just became with each other and coughed awkwardly with equal amounts of embarrassment. Slowly, Blake reached into her backpack after looking away from her, and pulled out a sketchbook of her own. Weiss watched carefully as Blake made space on the lunch table in front of her and opened it, flipping to a page with a colored picture drawn with ink and colored pencils. Unlike her own drawings, this one was a frontal view, revealing a man with a more vibrant shade of blue-colored eyes, red-brown hair, and appearing professional and powerful with his Specialist outfit.
"This is Adam," Blake said, quickly explaining who this man was. "Adam Taurus. He is my… er…" cheeks dusted with pink, Blake quickly recovered. "He is important to me. He taught me how to fight and how to control my semblance. He is one of the best Specialists in Mantle, probably the best. My father hired him to mentor me when he was still a student," A rare and fond smile appeared on Blake's face as she continued. "At first I thought little of him. Just another attempt by my father to teach me something useful. But after the first few training sessions, I started taking a liking to him, and him to me."
"Are you two together?" Weiss asked.
Blake closed the sketchbook and looked away. "What was it you said about curiosity?"
Weiss smirked victoriously. "I am not a feline faunus, Blake."
SNAP!
"Oh please, keep ignoring me. Don't mind me." Ruby said as she hid her scroll behind her back, desperate to hide the evidence of the fact that she just took evidence of Weiss and Blake getting along. "Just capturing the moment, you know what I mean?"
Weiss and Blake scowled at her. Ice cold eyes and yellow fire, threatening to both freeze and burn her to death at the same time.
"Er…" Ruby felt a nervous drop of sweat drip down her cheek. "Sorry?"
"See, I told you she was going to get caught." Ren told Nora as he sat back, allowing her to flick grapes into his mouth and catch them with his tongue. "Not five minutes later too, that means I won!"
"You definitely did," Pyrrha said, disappointed for losing the impulsive bet made between her and Ren. "If only Ruby remembered to turn the flash and sound off… I would have won if she'd remembered that, surely."
"Yang's still getting that thing though," Jaune pointed out. "Was there a bet on that? Because it's definitely been longer than it should have. You'd make your money back if so."
"I wish," Pyrrha saggy forward. "Man, this sucks. First I feel like my muscles want to die because of training with you and my brain hurts from Professor Watts and Callow's teaching. I am starting to have second thoughts."
"Awe, don't be like that," Jaune chuckled, patting his partner on the back while Ruby haphazardly tried to calm down her black and white teammates. "Give it a few months and you'll be the best shape in your life and smarter than you've ever been before. Believe me on that!"
The entire table jumped when a scroll and a hand smacked down in the center of it. Yang's hair looked not as well done as usual, only a single pigtail tied up as usual and in a similar style to Weiss while the other half was hanging loosely beside her head. Somehow, she still managed to look cute in it, and she grinned madly after turning on her scroll and picking it back up again.
"Now that I have your attention!" Yang exclaimed. "I, as the leader of Team YBWR and friends to them, Team PLAN and Blake."
"Wow, really Yang?"
"-hereby decree that we shall wake up every morning at five in the morning to exercise, stretch, and train before each class. That way we can all get in shape twice as fast as everyone else who trains only during combat class!"
"But I train three times a day…" Pyrrha pointed out.
"Yes, but you need to." Yang easily swayed. "But we, as in Blake, Weiss, Ruby and I, need to hash up some details and timings in our pair and team attacks."
"Five in the morning is a little steep, sis," Ruby pointed out. "We train every day after classes are over anyway, its not like we're going to get rusty anytime soon."
"Yes, and besides," Weiss continued for her. "We all have our different methods of training. Ruby has her speed and massive weapon, I have a slimmer build that revolves more around my glyphs and thin sword archetype whereas Blake has her own entire style of combat."
"Not to mention you, Yang, who trains with weights so heavy that I find it hard to believe that you're as slim as you appear." Blake added.
"Buy guuuuuys," Yang whined leaning forward just in time to duck underneath one of the seeds that Ren spat out of his mouth. Pyrrha however, watched as that seed bounced off of the floor, into the wall, into the window, and then into someone's food by complete and random accident. This person's tray was of course, belonging to Cassandra. "I spent the last twenty minutes thinking about something we could do to work together!"
"We could still train together every night as we usually do," Ruby pointed out. "But more in the sparring variety. Or the running kind. Working out together doesn't seem like a bad idea either, but we'd have to do it a lot to keep up with our body's constant needs for nutrients."
"My point exactly," Blake exemplified.
Pyrrha watched helplessly as Ren once again spat another seed out his mouth, this one bouncing off of Ruby's head and then high into the air. Pyrrha wanted to somehow will the same power that she'd used in the Forever Fall Forest to stop the seed in transit but quickly saw that she could not do so, and that it was already too late.
Another seed landed inside of Cassandra's tray, and she knew exactly where it came from. Picking her tray up and throwing it, Pyrrha watched helplessly while she listened to Yang, Ruby, Weiss, and Blake go on and on about their new team exercises.
Right until a tray full of mashed potatoes, bacon, and peas smothered food all over Ruby and her favorite red hood.
Everyone in the cafeteria had gone silent.
Everyone.
Ruby slowly stood up, her black-red hair now slick with mashed potatoes and other foods and drinks, and stared directly behind her. No one dared to move a muscle, and Cassandra was white in the face, remembering the time when she was utterly embarrassed in a fight by Ruby just some days ago.
"So," Ruby's eyes flashed as rose petals started appearing out of nowhere and swirling around her. "No one is going to fess up for that, hm? Well… I guess it was all of you then!"
"I'm telling you Ciel, Weiss is not like anyone else!" Penny exclaimed as she exaggeratedly swung her hands around as she spoke. "She is a little rough around the edges and definitely more than unreasonable and irrational, especially in certain circumstances, but that day I spent with her may as well have been the best day I have spent in Vale so far!"
"Uh huh," Ciel Soleil nodded along, listening intently as her partner ranted on and on about this girl she had met weeks ago.
"And man, don't get me started on her hair. It's so white and pretty, ugh!"
"That sounds exotic." Ciel commented.
"Right!" Penny exclaimed. "Anyway, she might come off as a bit icey at first, but I promise, she is great when she warms up to you! She does have that whole former Blue Revolt member under her belt, but that's a secret!"
"I get it, I won't tell anyone."
"Hey, I'm serious on this one! As in you don't tell this to any of your other friends behind my back when I'm not paying attention! No one hears about that, alright!?"
"Penny," The pair stopped, the darker-skinned girl planting a hand on the ginger's shoulder reassuringly. "There's nobody else I trust enough with secrets. Believe me, this knowledge won't escape past these lips at any given point."
"Ah, I know Ciel," Affectionately, Penny wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "I just wanted to hear you say it, you wonderful little brown girl."
"That is what I am."
"But yeah, back to what I was saying. I can't wait to have you meet them! Her teammates are really cool too," Penny was too absorbed in talking about Team YBWR that she didn't seem to realize something big and heavy striking against the window right next to her and Ciel. Her partner didn't notice either, as she was too focused on what her partner was saying. "There's Yang, her older sister, and this black haired faunus I'm pretty sure is called Blake or something like that. Anyway, here we are! What do you think?"
As Penny swung open the doors, a can of soda bounced off of her chest and exploded against the floor, splattering fizzy juice all over the place. Penny was still smiling and proud of what she had just said about her new friends and interests and didn't seem to care about what was happening around her at the moment. It was utter chaos. Food and drinks were being thrown everywhere, and it wasn't like anything she'd ever seen before.
She just wished she could have come a little earlier than this.
Penny caught one of the drinks and downed the entire thing in a swing of her head while Ciel hid behind her so she wouldn't get her favorite hat dirty with disgusting food. Since her new friends seemed to have been having fun, Penny decided that now was the time to just cheer for them. She wasn't going to steal their spotlight, not at a time like this, anyway.
The blonde Yang Xiao Long wielded two watermelons as makeshift boxers gloves and pounded down at a table that was shakily being held up by Nora, barely holding her back while Blake wrestled Ren with two stale pieces of bread and a toaster oven. All the while Weiss hid near the back of the cafeteria, using her glyphs to protect herself while her partner Ruby caused the most chaos. The speed of her semblance enabled her to run literal circles around anyone who was still standing, using the momentum blast of her speed to knock them away and force them out of the cafeteria. The only ones who now stood in her way was Jaune Arc and Pyrrha Nikos, one looking much more confident than the other. Due to the lack of his shield, Jaune decided to use a hardcover copy of an encyclopedia instead, as its leatherback cover made for an astounding protective barrier.
Pyrrha on the other hand simple held a frozen pack of hotdogs, hiding beside her partner and waiting for a signal that she desperately wanted to come so much sooner than it did. Ruby spotted them easily, and with an amused smirk, started blitzing her way toward them. The second her body disappeared into a flurry of food mixed with rose petals and water, Jaune shouted.
"Now Pyrrha!"
"Yah!" Pyrrha blindly ripped open the pack of frozen hotdogs and threw them all over the floor, and then grabbed three more and did the same. While she continued to do so Jaune reached down and touched the floor, extending his aura out from his body and into the floor and then into the hotdogs, solidifying them in place. Ruby's perception was top notch while in the process of activating her speed, but she wasn't thinking smart, and ran right into their trap.
"Woah, woah, woah!" Ruby exclaimed, sliding across the floor and bumping into frozen hotdogs, forcing her feet to lift off of the ground. Vulnerable and mid air, Jaune Arc found his opening. From behind his back, Jaune pulled out a bowl of spaghetti, throwing it at Ruby's stomach and knocking the wind out of her.
"Ah!" Ruby yelped, slipping on tomato sauce as she landed and slamming into a table, breaking it in half as her red aura flared but did not break. "Ah… I have been defeated, oh the humanity!"
"Ruby!?" Yang shouted, jumping off of Nora's table and landing right next to her sister. "Are you okay!?"
"A-Ah… the light… it hurts… but its so warm…" Ruby whimpered, pretending to pass out afterwards.
"What's wrong, Ruby? Ruby? RUBYYYYY!" Yang screamed as her hair caught fire, burning off the hair tie keeping her one pigtail up and causing her hair to float in the air as if she was hovering off the ground. Her red eyes flowed with a vengeance and her fists shined with yellow aura as her semblance activated.
Even Jaune Arc gulped nervously at the sight of that, and could do nothing but watch as Yang leapt into the air and came crashing down in an explosion of hot fire, dust, and debris, creating a massive crater in the center of the cafeteria and causing everyone nearby - except for Blake, Weiss, and Ruby. The former two escaping the area earlier while Ruby got up and moved while Yang wasn't looking - and sucked in every can of soda into it as well. Creating a fizzy pool of sticky juice and splintered wood. All of Team PLAN rolled into it, and that marked their defeat.
"Yes!" Yang exclaimed, throwing her fist up into the air as the leader of Team PLAN announced their defeat as she tried wrenching soda out of her hair, then complained about making it worse. In her great mood, Yang didn't seem to notice that she was just as filthy as they were, especially in the hair department. "Team YBWR's first team wins! Woohoo!"
"And that is also the first detention for everyone in this cafeteria!" Cinder Fall exclaimed, stalking up to the edge of the crater and making the temperature of the cafeteria drop several degrees just by being present. "Every single one of you, start cleaning this up, now! And you two!"
Penny and Ciel jumped where they stood.
"I can see that you're dirty as well! Get to cleaning, or else!" Without really thinking about defending themselves and pointing out that they had nothing to do with this, Penny and Ciel immediately went and started putting back together with a table as best as they could. While Cinder seathe in silence, the headmistress of Beacon Academy walked up to her side, sipping from a little white mug of tea as she did so.
"You know I can use my powers to fix this myself in seconds, right?" Salem asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I am aware," Cinder replied. "I just want these kids to learn from their mistakes."
"Hm, they won't be kids for much longer," Salem said absentmindedly. "I might say to let them have their fun for now, but I suppose you're right, they're not going to be kids forever, so there's no use in coddling them now so they can potentially act spoiled later."
"Precisely." Cinder agreed with a nod. "Perhaps when they pass out from exhaustion you can fix the rest of it yourself. I will be that merciful, at least."
"Hhm," Salem hummed, somehow amused by something. "This is already more eventful than the second semester last year. At least I am able to walk around more this time around, being cooped up in that office can get quite lonely at times."
"And yet you're walking away, going right back to it?" Cinder asked as she watched Salem turn around.
"Well, I'm not needed right now, am I?" Salem countered. "I will return when I am needed, just as I always do. That is a vow that will not change now."
I didn't want to write out an entire new foodfight scene, since, well, I don't really need to. It'd just be a small rehash and realignment of what happened in canon and that's boring to me. So I shortened it down a lot. In any case, YBWR has returned! I shall try and resume updating as I did before, but work has tripled in quantity, so there's a lot for me to keep up on.
