Shorter than usual, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have these now and then. I'd like to thank an anonymous guest who suggested this omake. Here are the rest of his suggestions verbatim, if any of them interest you:
-The Womanizer
The Students of Beacon take the spotlight , as it focus on their Point of view of Jaune and RWBY's relationship , some think they are just good friends , others that Jaune has spicy hours of Passion when night comes around...and others just know Jaune is too tired yet don't have an idea to help him
-Reversal
Somehow..the First Male Maiden has appeared , Jaune Arc carrying the torch of 4 Maidens has to look after himself and Team RWBY a team suppoused to "Look after him" (Basically a flip on the premise)
-Jaune Arc : Maidenmania
Some crazy idiot decided to play with the Maiden Power Transfer Machine , the Maiden Power liberated across Remnant created more troubles for Ozpin to handle , now Jaune has to take care not only of Team RWBY but Pyrrha Nikos , Cinder Fall , Amber (Fall Maidens) ,Kali, Vernal and Raven (Spring Maidens) Winter and Willow Schnee even Penny (Winter Maidens) and Summer Rose (Summer Maiden)
Ozpin : Welcome to the Maidenmania
Jaune:NOOOOOOOOO!
Admittedly, though, Reversal is a hard sell for me since the amount of OP Jaune fics has seriously turned me off from those kinds of things. Hell, Seasons!Jaune is deliberately written to avoid the usual power ups and harem tropes due to my dislike of it. The only one I can see Reversal working for is the other suggestion where Jaune has to crossdress for it to work, so at least then I can focus on the gender bender comedy.
Jaune wasn't the most popular person back in Domremy. Granted he wasn't unpopular, the town was small enough that you had to be a real freak to be actively shunned, but no one was exactly banging down his door asking to hang out. Even the friends he'd made back then were more casual than the bonds he'd formed in Beacon. Just guys he played videogames with after school or some grub at the nearest fastfood joint.
Beacon was a different story. Huntsmen teams were expected to form deep and lasting bonds, and while he didn't have a partner himself, his unique role within team RWBY meant he could bond closer to his team as a whole compared to the preference established between partners. He didn't even realize how much of his time had been spent getting dragged into one of their antics or another till it was too late.
And now here they were.
"No, he can't go with you!" Ruby shouted, stomping her foot as a show of maturity, "Jaune promised we'd go on a date to the weapons museum!"
"Well, he assured me that he would be there for my Dust experiment," Weiss replied. She didn't shout, but her voice was most definitely raised.
"Jaune said he was free to go with me to Tuskon's bookstore and then we're attending a Faunus equality rally," Blake glared at everyone else in the room sans him.
"Pfft, you don't need someone to go with you to buy smut," Yang snorted, "Now going to a nightclub alone? That's just depressing. I need Grimm Slayer to come with me. What kind of loser goes stag?"
The man of the hour himself was sat in the middle of the arguing foursome, Zwei lazily snoozing on his lap. It was a somewhat awkward position to be in considering he was in a beanbag chair, but what other choice did he have? Trying to leave the room now would only spread the powderkeg somewhere else.
"Don't you have any other friends to go with you? You're always bragging about how much you're the 'life of the party'. I'm sure someone is willing to spend time with you." Blake scoffed.
"Well, that's..." Yang looked around in a panick.
"Yeah, and didn't you ditch me on the first day to hang out with your friends? Go ask them!" Ruby shouted.
"Th-That..." Yang shook her head, eyes suddenly turning red, "Hey, this isn't about me! Point is you all can do that boring stuff by yourselves, but I need someone to go with me for my thing. I think that trumps all of you."
"Well Jaune's my boyfriend, so I say we're going on a date!" Ruby put her hands on her hips.
"Your relationship is a completely different matter." Weiss scowled, "Jaune may be your boyfriend, but he is also our teammate and thus we are also entitled to spend time with him. As a leader, your should understand that personal relationships sometimes have to take a backseat to ensure team cohesion. And also, these experiments a benefit to us all. Combining magic and Dust could be revolutionary!"
"Why don't you do that by yourself?" Ruby shot back.
"Because Jaune's Semblance allows for better fine tuning." Huh, an actual logical reason.
"Can't you guys do these things together?" Jaune cut in. All eyes turned to him, "Weiss, can't any of the others do the experiment with you even without my Semblance? And Blake, I'm sure Yang would help with your pro-Faunus rallies. All of us here believe in equality."
The four looked at each other in quiet contemplation, and for one glorious moment, he thought that things had finally settled down.
How stupid of him.
"Nope."
"I'm afraid not, Jaune."
"Not happening."
"No way."
"Why?!" Jaune shouted.
"No one here likes weapons like you and me!" Ruby pouted, "Whenever any of the others come along, they're so bored and always try to leave early! It sucks! Come on, Jaune, let's go together! Please?"
"I cannot trust any of them to not somehow destabilize the experiment." Weiss shook her head, "The procedures are extremely delicate and one mistake could prove disastrous. I require someone I know who'll listen to orders."
"There's no way Ruby and Yang can go to a rally without somehow escalating it to a brawl." Blake crossed her arms, "And if I take Weiss along there's no guarantee that it won't just look like some kind of PR stunt from her. No, it has to be you."
"Have you seen these three? They wouldn't know a good time if it bit them in the ass. No offense, Rubes." Ruby squawked at her older sister, showing that there was, in fact, offense taken, "Nuh-uh, going alone sucks, but going with killjoys is even worse! You gotta come with me!"
And just like that the argument began anew. Jaune sighed and leaned back on the beanbag, questioning where he went wrong. On one hand it was sort of flattering being the center of all this attention, but on a much bigger hand, he hadn't had any free time to himself in months. As much as he loved his entire team, no one was built to be dragged around like this.
He knew better than to try and cut in again. If he did and put his foot down on who he wanted to spend his time with, the rest would agree and apologize for how they acted. However, he also knew that it would just make them that much more determined the next time to be one who monopolized his time after being rejected. And he didn't know if he could handle a repeat of this.
And so it was that Jaune came to a single conclusion.
He needed a vaction.
The four were in the middle of establishing a 'Jaune Schedule' when he stood and made his preparations. He'd been at Beacon for a year; long enough to understand that if you wanted anything from Ozpin, you had to come in with bulletproof argument and backup. Simply asking would lead to either blunt refusals or placating lies about how he would consider it so please come back in a couple of weeks.
Not this time. This time he was gonna be ready.
And so it was three days later, at three AM in the afternoon, that Jaune Arc strode inside the headmaster's office, "Ah, Jaune, a pleasure as always. Would you like some hot chocolate?"
"I need a vacation," Jaune said, immediately getting to brass tacks.
"I beg your pardon?"
"A vacation. A break. Some me time. I don't know how many more euphemisms you need."
"No, I heard you the first time, it's just..." He laughed. It sounded so fake, "You do realize that you're a student, correct? You have vacations the same time everyone else does. You can't just come into the headmaster's office demanding time off."
"Yeah, about that..." Jaune pulled out a piece of paper - a contract - from his hoodie's pocket and slammed it on the table, "Remember this?"
The contract was a bit of a long story. After his first month with team RWBY he'd tried to quit, even preparing everything from a personal bullhead to timing everything just right so that team RWBY wouldn't notice his absence. He'd eventually changed his mind when Ozpin - immortal warrior and headmaster of Beacon - got down on his knees and hugged his legs, begging him not to go. Pity had stayed his hand then and he decided to stay.
Two weeks later Ozpin had given him the piece of paper and asked for his signature, assuring him that it was simply something that all students had to do with regards to their weekly stipend. He hadn't thought much of it then, still full of pity for the headmaster and assuming that, as an older authority figure, the man did want what was best for him and wouldn't just lie to his face.
Oh, what a fool he'd been.
It was only later that he found out that the piece of paper was a contract officially designating him as team RWBY's minder and that quitting before they all graduated would incur severe penalties. Ozpin had acted oh so shocked when he'd confronted him on it, claiming that it really was about the stipend. After all, if the role of minder was to be put as an actual job then of course he'd be paid. It was only fair, after all.
Ut was time to make him pay, alrght.
"This contract, which you had me sign under false pretenses-"
"Baseless accusations."
"-states that I am, in fact, a legal employee of Beacon," Jaune continued, ignoring the interruption, "And as such I am entitled to certain benefits, one of which being vacation days." Jaune's lips curled up in a feral grin as Ozpin read over the fine print, sweat falling over his brow. Because the bastard was so lazy he'd just copy pasted the same contract every other employee on Beacon had.
"Ahem..." Ozpin set the paper down once more, "So you are, Jaune, so you are. Well, I shall think on this for now and-"
"Oh no, you're approving me now cause I didn't come in alone." Jaune's already demented grin threatened to split his face apart as the door behind them clicked open and one Glynda Goodwitch strolled into the room. Ozpin's already nervous visage turned downright horrified at the deputy headmistress' presence. While Ozpin was the headmaster, it was an open secret that Professor Goodwitch was the true power in Beacon. If she retired the entire school was liable to collapse.
"G-Glynda, such a pleasure to-"
"You are approving Mr. Arc's vacation leave. Right now."
Ozpin looked between her and Jaune for a moment, eyes wide, "Why would you do this, Glynda? You know what team RWBY is like! Jaune is the only thing keeping them from deciding to rule over Remnant now that Salem is gone!" Jaune raised a brow. Seriously? Did he really have that much faith in him? Or did he just have absolutely none in team RWBY even after they saved the freaking world?
"I am aware of the risk they pose. However, consider this." She leaned forward, riding crop smacking against the table, "The only reason I have stayed sane working for you all these years are my vacation days, and I would be damned if I did nothing as another is denied this gods given right. So yes, Ozpin, you will give Mr. Arc his right to a vacation or we will be forced to take drastic measures."
Oh, seeing the gray haired bastard's face fall was far more satisfying than it had any right to be, "I...understand. Mr. Arc will have his...how many days are you hoping to do this?"
"I'm cashing them all in. Five." Ozpin flinched back like he'd been struck, "I talked it over with the teachers and they agreed to let me go through it without my grades suffering." Apparently they all realized the pain of needing a vacation. Despite his young age, his job keeping teaming RWBY (mostly) stable had earned him their respect. Well, that and helping them stop Salem.
"...Fine, you shall receive it. Now if there's nothing else I shall-"
"Oh, one other thing," Jaune said, just a bit too smug for his own good, "Mercury's cashing in his vacation days too. He wanted me to tell you on his behalf."
"What?!" Ozpin stood up, "Jaune, with Lie Ren on his trip to Mistral, you do realize that he is the only one preventing Ms. Valkyrie from going completely off-the-rails? Ms. Nikos is too kind to deny her anything! You can't!"
"Ms. Goodwitch?" Jaune turned to his partner in crime.
"You were the one who chose to have them sign contracts designating them as employees, Ozpin. Did you think it wouldn't come back to bite you? Actually, don't answer that." The tired professor sighed, "Mr. Black, same as Mr. Arc, is entitled to his vacation days as an employee of Beacon hired directly by the headmaster, which is you. Failure to do so will lead to-"
"I know, I know." Gritting his teeth, Ozpin signed the official leave forms Glynda slid towards him, "I hope you're satisified, Jaune. You've just doomed us all."
"I'll see you in five days, sir." Jaune grabbed both forms and hopped out of the room with a skip in his step after profusely thanking Professor Goodwitch. It was good to be a winner.
A week later and both he and Mercury were lounging at one of Mistral's most famous beaches. The two teens lay back on the beach chairs, eyes covered with shades and their usual attire replaced with open shirts, trunks and flip flops. Or bare feet in Mercury's case, metal legs and all. Those made going through the airport a bit of a pain.
It was the second day of their five day vacation and life was going good. He'd told team RWBY about his planned vacation, and while none of them were exactly pleased he'd be gone for the week, they were understanding and said that they'd be waiting for him to come back. And oh, they would absolutely understand if he had to cut his vacation short and come back to them early, they wouldn't judge him for it at all.
Hah, fat chance.
Jaune grabbed a drink from a swimsuit-clad waitress and lazily drank down the orange concoction. Oh yeah, this was the life. No worries, no team, and no Ozpin telling him that the fate of the world relied on him somehow. He'd even kept his scroll off, which he'd warned team RWBY of beforehand. That also didn't please them, but again they understood. This was his me time, there wouldn't be any emergency calls or other insanity.
Just sand, water and his best guy friend.
"Cheers."
"Cheers." Mercury clinked their glasses together despite it being the sixth cheer this day; and it wasn't even noon yet. Things were just that good. It wasn't just Nora that he had to worry about. In a lot of ways, Pyrrha was worse. Ever since she lost the Vytal tournament - and he had to admit, Yang suddenly creating gauntlets made out of fire was kinda bullshit - she'd been all too eager for a rematch.
Apparently Pyrrha Nikos, the Invincible Girl, was a sore loser.
Oh, she was just as nice and kind to Yang as always, and their friendship hadn't suffered in the least, but there was understanding between the two that the rematch would come one day. And that day mettle would be proven.
Of course, being her partner, Mercury was the one she'd often drag along to her late night sparring matches. Poor bastard. He needed this break just as much as he did.
The two best friends spent the day in lazy relaxation and returned to their cabanas come nightfall. Apparently Beacon did actually provide some rather ritzy vacation spots; it was the only way to keep teachers from quitting from how rare said vacations actually were. Jaune opened the tv and went to grab some wine from the stocked mini-fridge. Thank you, Beacon.
He'd just popped open the cork when the program suddenly shifted to a major news report, "This is Lisa Lavender reporting live from Beacon!" A rather haggard looking woman said. The scene behind her was utter devastation and chaos. Fires, ice, lightning and wind all somehow devastating the area, "As you can see, a mysterious attack has has destroyed most of the Academy grounds. While there are no casualties reported so far, the northwest side of Beacon has been entirely disintegrated and- wait, focus on that!"
The camera zoomed in through the ravaged buildings only to see Pyrrha Nikos and Yang Xiao Long fighting each other. It could've easily been mistaken as an attempted murder on both ends if not for the wide and pleased smiles on both their faces.
An earthquake nearly knocked the reporters off their feet before Weiss, Ruby and Blake suddenly flew in front of the lavander haired woman, "If you're listening, Vale, then know that we've decided to take over the kingdom!" Weiss declared.
"We kinda saw how bad the Council's been running things and we figured, hey, we could do a whole lot better!" Ruby cheered, "We promise we won't spend your money buying luxury mansions we never use! So bow down to your new overlords! We have cookies!"
"The first law is that we are all equal! Any discimination will be punished severely!" Blake added last.
The camera was suddenly wrenched to the side and a crazed looking Ozpin shoved his face into the lens, "Jaune, if you're hearing this then please come back to Beacon! You are our only hope now! Our only-"
Jaune shut the tv off just as Merc came out of the shower, "Hey, anything good on?"
"Eh, just the usual." Beacon was destroyed and team RWBY decided to take over Vale. That sounded like future Jaune's problem. Present Jaune still had three days of vacation left, "Come on, let's get drunk! To vacation days!"
"Vacation days."
Man, remember the days when team RWBY basically couldn't function here without Jaune keeping the peace? Well, this is what happens if they didn't move past that stage. On the bright side, I'm sure Vale's new overlords won't be any worse than the council given what we see of Blanche and Winchester.
Anyway, next omake will either be team YANDERE or Project M.A.I.D.E.N. Actually leaning towards the latter since I kinda wanna write a chapter from Penny's POV and her slowly understanding both positive and negative emotions such as love and jealousy.
Questions:
1. So most everyone agrees to genderbend at least one person for the Silverknight omake. Who should it be? Cause the guy and girl in the pairing would affect how the dynamic plays out. Fem!Jaune with Male!Mercury comes across as almost shoujo like with the awkward nice girl and the badboy assassin. Fem!Mercury with Male!Jaune is more what you'd expect with Jaune getting together with the dommy mommy tomboy.
2. Speaking of which, I've considered two more teams for possible alternative Maiden omakes. One is an all-female team CFVY. This one's actually pretty stable since none of the team is really neurotic. The other is team GENDERBEND, which is a team consisting of Lian Ren, Maya Back, Neptunia Vassilias, and Sunny Wukong. Either of these interest you guys?
