Harry entered the room. Before him he saw, sitting on a pedestal in the middle of the cavernous room, the stone. A stone that Harry had come very far to destroy. He and his friends had journeyed beyond the known lands, through perils and dangers beyond the imagination, and it was about to be finished. The stone, he could hear it calling to him, just like it had been calling to him for the past two years. He knew he had one of the hallows in him. The shadow, the only thing that could hide from Death itself. The wand had been destroyed years before and now there were only two.

Harry looked back at his two closest companions. Ron had been his butler and bodyguard since he had been returned home from his long imprisonment in the tower. They had grown close over this journey; Harry respected his logic and skepticism when it was needed and knew that Ron would have his back when it counted most. Standing beside him was Hermione. Hermione was the one who had found the tower, looking for the prince who was lost as only a baby and beloved by his people. Hermione, his shining light in the dark times, his true love. Once this was over, he knew he was going to ask for her hand in marriage.

She had tears in her eyes, "Go, it's time to end this." She threw her arms around him and squeezed him in her unmatchable Hermione hug. She pulled back as Ron stepped up and offered his hand. "It's been quite the adventure. Now make us proud." Harry shook his friend's hand and turned to look at the stone. The call was getting stronger. It could feel him, it wanted to be whole again to reconnect with its brother and be free. Harry stepped forward, his scar began to sing with a song only he could hear and started to glow with a bright light. He took a step off the edge over the abyss. Tendrils of energy and magic rose up and formed a bridge leading to the stone.

Harry walked forward, the call growing louder and louder with every step. When he reached the center, the cage holding the stone melted away, leaving just the angular black stone floating in midair. Waiting for him to claim it. Harry reached out his hand to take it. He knew the stone would fight him, it wanted to be used, to bring back the dead. But Harry could not allow that. He needed to bind the shadow and the stone together and banish them from this world, back to the one they came from.

Harry closed his eyes and held his breath as he closed his hand on the stone. Before he could though, another hand shot in and grabbed the stone. Harry looked up in alarm. Standing before him, stone in hand, was Ron. Harry took an involuntary step back "Ron? Why?" Ron gritted his teeth, the power of the stone flowing through him. "I. Am. Fulfilling. My. Destiny!" He grunted out as a wave of power knocked Harry back and into Hermione. As they watched, Ron took the stone and bound it to his chest. Full plate armor began to form around him. Ron looked up; they could see the power flowing through his eyes. "I told you Harry. Be careful who you trust."
