TW: violence (mentions of someone being stabbed/penetrated with a sharp weapon), mild blood, mention of surgery of said wound (since I know people dont like seeing/imagining that, especially with the context given)

After a delicious dinner, Amu finally gave in and tried called her mother using their home phone. However, instead of hearing her mother's voice, she was met with her little sister's voice.
"Ami-chan?" Amu inquired, confused as to why her little sister was answering considering she rarely answered the phone. "Where's mama? I need to ask her something."
"Oh, mama is doing the dishes. We just finished dinner." Ami said. "I can give papa the phone, instead, if you want!"
"No!" Amu exclaimed. "I mean. I'd prefer mama, thanks."
Ami hummed curiously but called out to their mother regardless. After a few seconds, Ami spoke again. "I'll hand the phone to Mama now~"
Once Amu's mother was on the phone, Amu sighed. Was it a sigh of relief? No…she thought as a wave of nervousness went over as she thought about actually asking her mother if she could stay over. Surprisingly, upon asking her mother if she could, Amu's mother agreed. Amu hadn't expected her to accept it so quickly and casually.
"W-what about papa?" Amu asked. "If he finds out I'm staying over at a boys house…"
"I'll think of something to tell him." Amu's mother responded smoothly, almost as if she was saying she'd just be going out for groceries or something. "You have some female friends, no? Do you want me to drop some stuff off for you?"
Amu hummed softly, still in a shock about how easy the conversation went. "Um…yea, I guess. It's already getting dark…and I don't want Papa to question me too much right off the bat..."
"Alright, Mama will be there in 30 minutes." Amu could almost hear the warm smile on her mother's face. "Text me his address so I don't end up going to the wrong place by accident."
With that, the call ended, a text was sent, and all that was left to do was wait. Tadase suggested Amu wait in the living room while he do the dishes but Amu insisted she help clean up too. Anything to get her mind off of the idea that there might be someone waiting outside his house for her. She hoped, if there was someone, that her mother's car would scare them away or something.
Not even 30 minutes later, Tadase's doorbell rang and Amu hurried to answer, peeking through windows to be positive that it was her mother. She stepped out of the house and went to collect her belongings from her mother, giving her a quick hug before quickly rushing back inside the house. She didn't miss a shadow moving in Tadase's garden in the light her mother's headlights made as she drove off. She tried to ignore it but was unable to when she heard and saw something come flying in her direction. She tried to dodge it as best as she could but instead it ended up hitting her somewhere else, causing her to yelp loudly in pain. She staggered into Tadase's house as fast as she could before collapsing on the couch.
"Amu-chan?" Came into the living room, drying his hands with a towel, as he heard Amu return. "What happened I thought I heard you-" Before he could finish his sentence, he rounded the couch and saw Amu lying on her stomach with a sharp object lodged in her shoulder. "Oh my God! Amu-chan!"
He rushed to kneel in front of her, hesitant about what to do but first ensuring Amu was breathing and/or conscious. Blood was already seeping through her white blouse, turning a large portion of it a bright red, and Tadase could hear her groaning in pain.
"Don't worry, Amu-chan. We'll find a way to get this out!" Tadase said in attempt to calm Amu, even though he was panicking himself. "Ambulance! I need to call an ambulance!"
Realizing that if he took the object out himself, he would cause more blood, he decided it would be best to let it be done professionally. Even if that meant the nurses recognizing them and questioning why so much bad stuff happened to them so often. He quickly called for an ambulance and made sure to calm Amu down, listening to anything the dispatcher had to say about keeping Amu comfortable.
The ambulance arrived within 5-10 minutes, thankfully, and Tadase helped the EMS get Amu on a stretcher without causing her too much pain. At some point, she must have fallen unconscious, as she was no longer responding to the paramedic's questions, despite being alright when Tadase was asking her questions the dispatcher had asked. At least Tadase hoped she had just fallen unconscious. To Tadase's relief, the paramedics confirmed that, while her breathing was laboured, her heard was still beating fine given the circumstances.
The ride to the hospital was quick, being Tadase only lived a 10 minute drive away from there and they rolled Amu into the hospital. By this point, Amu had regained consciousness again but confused and in excruciating pain. Tadase wanted to help her in any way possible, but the EMS said they had it covered, so he just watched as the EMS sent her off to the nurses and doctors.
Naturally, it was the same nurses from last time and they had a stream of questions. "You two again? What happened to her this time? I hope she wasn't attacked again because we really need to report that to the proper authorities if that's the case."
Amu tried to explain what happened but she herself could barely remember. Tadase explained that he was doing dishes and found her lying on the couch in the state she was currently in.
"Thank's for not pulling the object out yourself." the nurse said with a smile. "People don't realize that it can cause more problems, especially if it's done before the paramedics are called."
Tadase nodded "I've read that taking it out can cause more blood then leaving it in so I figured it'd be better to leave it to the professionals."
The nurse patted Tadase's back, commending him. "You'd make a good nurse one day. We'll take care of your friend, don't worry."
"She'll be okay, right?" Tadase questioned, while the nurses fluttered around Amu, getting an IV in, et cetera, his brow furrowing in concern.
"We'll have to see how much blood she loses when we get the object out." the nurse explained seriously. "She might need a blood transfusion if she loses too much before we can sew it up. She also might need surgery if anything was damaged with the impact. Luckily, though the object didn't penetrate anywhere with vital organs. She'll still need surgery to get all the layers stitched up properly, though"
The nurse asked another nurse for Amu's file and when she retrieved it, she hummed, a frown forming on her lips. "It seems Hinamori-san has a rare blood-type. Do you happen to know anyone who's type O?"
Tadase frowned as well, thinking before shaking his head. "No…not that I know of."
"O-one of my friends from my old town is O type…" Amu mumbled from the hospital bed, having overheard the whole conversation. "I-I'm not sure if you guys can get her, but the city isn't that far from here… Her name is Yuiki Yaya. H-her phone number should be in my phone."
The nurse nodded softly. "Well, if we need the blood, we'll be sure to call her. We'll try our best to keep as much blood inside you as possible. Hotori-kun, we'll need to take Hinamori-san to the OR, so you have to wait in the waiting room. If you could, please message her friend. We have some O-type blood in our collection but it's nice to have a backup plan if not."
Tadase obliged despite wanting to be with her, knowing better than to butt his way into someone else's job. He paced outside in the waiting room, looking at Amu's phone as he considered what the nurse had said about talking to Amu's friend. He'd heard a bit about her friends, but not enough to know exactly which friend Amu was referring to. All he recalled was that her old best friend was Nagihiko's twin sister.
Tadase found himself wishing he had O blood-type. That way, if she needed the blood, he could help her immediately and not have to wait for her friend to arrive, providing she could even come in the first place. He also hoped the hospital had enough O-type blood but like the nurse said…O was a rare type.
What felt like hours later, but was only about 20 minutes, the operating doctor came out. He bowed, pulling down his surgical mask, explaining the weapon, which ended up being a very sharp letter opener, had been taken out and that the disturbed layers were taken care of but that there was a lot of blood lost. The 2nd hand was currently using as much as their own stock of blood as possible but they were running out as they only had one bag.
"Hotori-san, did you talk to your friend's friend?" the nurse asked.
Tadase shook his head but quickly went through Amu's contact list until he found a contact named Yaya. He debated just sending them a message but felt like it would be more appropriate to call instead. He left the room and tapped the name.
He took a breath and put the phone up to his ear. It took a few rings for someone to pick up, but when someone answered, Tadase's throat closed.
"Amu-chii?" a high pitched voice came through the other side, sounding awfully confused. "What are you calling me for? Yaya-tan hasn't heard from you since you moved! Yaya-tan thought you forgot about her! …Amu-chii?"
Tadase cleared his throat. "Uh…hi. This is Amu's b-friend. I-I'm not sure how to explain this but…are you able to come to the hospital in her new city? She…she, uh, needs O-type blood and you're the only person she knows with it."
"Amu-chii's friend?" Yaya questioned. "And you need…O-type blood?" Suddenly, Yaya's voice got louder as she began to understand what Tadase was saying. "OMG, is Amu-chii hurt?! What happened?"
"If I say I'll explain when you get here…can you get here fast?" Tadase answered, not wanting to take too long. "If you have a friend who can drive or someone to accompany you without your parents knowing or getting worried, that would be helpful."
"I mean Kairi might be able to get me there…" Yaya mumbled. "Alright. I'll call him and we'll get there as fast as we can. I don't know who you are but…if you have Amu-chii's phone she must trust you."
Tadase sighed in relief. "More than you think…" he mumbled, mainly to himself. "Thanks, Yuiki-san. I really appreciate it."
With that, he hung up the phone and messaged Yaya the address of the hospital in case she needed it. Tadase hoped it didn't take too long but he never got much info on the old city Amu lived in. Just that it 'wasn't very far from' the city they were in currently. However not being far could mean a 15-minute trip, or an hour trip, depending on which direction they're coming from and how fast.
He walked back into the nurse and informed them that he had contacted Amu's friend and that she was on her way. Now, all they had to do was wait. Again. After a while, the doctor had gone back into the OR to check on Amu, who was still unconscious and unable to be moved until they were sure she was alright. The nurse suggested Tadase wait at the front desk for a while just to help Amu's friend get to the right place and Tadase had no choice but to oblige.
A/N: Edited this a 3rd time (of you include re-writing the original chapter(s?)) and changed the ender of the chapter, so sorry if it ends weird. I didn't like the 'cliff hanger' I had original and since I once again changed somethings, I figured I should add more context. I know it seems very unlikely for a hospital to wait for someone from a different city to provide their blood to finish a blood infusion but...plot armour? I honestly have no excuse but Yaya's the only other O type in the main cast and I didn't wanna just change her bloodtype like I did in the original. I liked a majority of the friend split I had, so I wasn't gonna change something again just to put Yaya in the city Amu is currently in (which I guess would probably just be Tokyo or something, I never really thought about it-) The only change in friend groups I made was making Kukai part of Tadase's friend group instead of being on Amu's side. You'll see this change in the next chapter when...someone else comes with Yaya instead of Kukai.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this. I hope it's not too late to put trigger warnings at the beginning of the chapters that might have triggering things. We're only just getting started so it might get worse.
