Hours passed but soon Chip found some tracks that hadn't been wiped away from the snowfall. It led to a small town north of the park. A congregation of animals living in harmony. They landed the plane and continued on foot, posting a few posters and asking people if they had seen Dale.

"Excuse me, have you seen this chipmunk? He's about this tall, and has a red nose," Chip asked.

"Sorry, lad. Haven't seen him." The individual said, continuing to walk down the side street.

Gadget approached. "Any luck?" She asked.

Chip sniffled and wiped his eyes with his paw. "No, I can't find him." He said, beginning to shed tears.

"Aw, don't cry Chip. Will find Dale." She said, giving him a comforting hug.

Chip cleared his throat. "I don't understand where he could have gone. I wish I could take back what I said. Just to see him, even hold him would be the best Christmas gift anyone could ever give me." He replied.

"Come on, let's go ask a few more people, and then we can check another area." Gadget said.

Chip agreed and they entered a store that Richard had owned.

"Why, hello. In the market for some new handcrafted house accessories?" Richard asked.

"No, thanks. I'm actually looking for my brother. Have you seen him? He disappeared last night." Chip said, holding a picture up.

Richard gasped and set his steaming coffee mug down. "Goodness, I have. He's down the road at the old oak tree." He said.

Richard picked up the phone and dialed a number. "Douglas, it's Richard. We have a situation involving Earl." He said.

The scene transitions to Earl's house.

"Well, Dale. I best put the kettle on. How would you like a cup of soup?" Earl asked.

Dale nodded. "That'd be great, I guess." He said.

Earl sighed. "You miss Chip don't you?" He asked.

"A little. I'm a bit homesick to tell you the truth. I wish I could take back what I did and just tell him how much he means to me personally." Dale said.

There was then a bang sound from the door.

"Earl, open up. It's the Sheriff." Douglas said.

Earl opened the door. Douglas stepped inside with his gun drawn and aimed it at Earl.

"Now, don't do anything hasty. We just came for the boy." Douglas said.

Chip walked inside gingerly and made eye contact with Dale. Dale immediately jumped up and leaped into Chip's arms. Chip unexpectedly lost balance and fell over. Dale squeezed Chip tightly while resting his head up against his chest.

"I missed you so much," Dale said in a muffled voice.

"I missed you too, pal." Chip replied.

"Now as for you, We best continue this down at the station," Douglas said, removing a pair of handcuffs from his coat.

Dale stood up and jumped in front of Douglas. "Wait!" He said

"What?" He replied.

"He didn't kidnap me. He saved me. If it wasn't for Earl, I would've froze outside." Dale explained.

"Is this true, Earl?" Douglas asked.

"Well, of course. I couldn't leave the little fella out there in the cold." Earl replied.

"Alright. You're free to go then. Sorry for the miscommunication." Douglas said, exiting the house.

"Come on, Dale. Let's go home." Chip said, taking Dale's paw.

Dale jerked back and turned Earl. He wrapped both arms around him. "Thank you for taking me in." He said.

"You are quite welcome, Dale. Merry Christmas." Earl replied.

Dale returned to Chip and Gadget. They proceeded outside and boarded the plane. Once back home they unloaded the plane and proceeded inside.

Dale caught a scent of something sweet and began to sniff. "What's that smell?" He asked.

Chip turned. "I don't know. I think it's coming from the kitchen." He said.

Monterey Jack and Zipper exited the kitchen.

"Monterey!" The other rangers said with surprise.

"Hey, mates." He replied.

"I thought you were going to your parents for Christmas," Chip asked.

"Well, my parents decided to go on a holiday this year for Christmas. Besides, I couldn't let you mates have all the fun without me." Monterey said.

"So what are you making?" Dale asked.

"Ah, I see you caught a whiff of ole'Monterey's cookin' did you?" He asked.

Dale nodded.

"Well, why don't you come into the kitchen and have a gander at yourself." Monterey Jack said.

Dale and the others followed Monterey Jack into the kitchen. There lay a feast being prepared for Christmas Day. "Wow!" They all said in surprise.

"I wasn't sure where you went mates but I assumed you'd be back." Monterey Jack said.

"Thank you, Monty." Chip said.

"Well, it's getting late." Gadget said, looking at the clock.

"Yes, it is." Chip said.

"Chip?" Dale called out.

"It's Christmas Eve, are we going to?" Dale said with hesitation as for the others to not hear of their Christmas tradition.

"Oh, that's right. I almost forgot." Chip said.

"Forgot what?" Gadget asked.

"Why don't you all join us? It's an annual tradition that I do with Dale every year." Chip said.

As the rangers gathered in the living room, Chip brought out an old journal where he copied an iconic Christmas story 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. Dale nestled into Chip as the others sat opposite Chip.

"Twas the Night Before Christmas, when all thro' the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there…" Chip began to recite the iconic poem.

Dale began to drift asleep as Chip continued reading the story, eventually falling fast asleep. "Aw, that's cute." Gadget said with a big smile.

Chip slowly closed the book and set it next to him. "A little help, Monterey?" He asked.

Monterey Jack nodded and walked over and carefully lifted Dale. Carrying him to his bed and set him down gently. As Dale continued to sleep Chip turned to the others. "Good night everyone. See you all tomorrow." He said.
