Thank you so much for the awesome reviews! :-) I'm still amazed that people are really reading this story!

Here goes another chapter :-) Enjoy!

On trembling knees Lamie tried to make sense of what had just happened. Pablo and his friends had gone out like flashlights, yet she herself had escaped with a fleeting dizziness.

"Law… are you okay?" She approached cautiously only to see that the invisible blast of fatigue had spared him as well. He remained silent. Blood was oozing through his shirt, as he bent stiffly over Savenna. Her body lay like an empty shell in the middle of the road. The whitening hair had now completely bleached out and the skin peeking through the torn clothes shone like cold silver.

"Is… is she dead?" Lamie croaked.

Law had finished last year at the top of his class in medical school. And even if he hadn't he would have known how to check for a pulse. He just didn't know how to do it on anyone he knew. Under Lamie's anxious glance, he finally examined Savenna. "She's breathing."

"What happened?" Lamie breathed.

"I don't know…" In the darkness and under a layer of dirt, her brother's face was almost as pale as Savenna's. It frightened her. He had always been the calm one. She'd never seen him bite back tears before. After making sure that Savenna was stable, he forced himself back on his feet.

"Wait here," he ordered. "Make sure she keeps breathing and call me if anything changes."

"What? Where are you going?" Lamie shrieked.

"I don't know how long those guys will be out. I have to make sure they won't hurt us again," he gestured at the unconscious bodies, before picking up his hat. "Don't turn around until I'm back."

Begrudgingly, Lamie did as she was told. Determined to follow the barely visible movement of Savenna's chest, she struggled to concentrate. How had she managed to make the attackers fall asleep without even touching them? She had heard lots of stories since Madgalena had moved in but none of them explained any of it. When Law's footsteps returned, she was too scared to ask what he'd done.

"Right… We have to get her home," he decided and reached out for Savenna.

"No! Wait!"

Exhausted, Law turned around. "What?"

"She's sick! The white skin, it's contagious!"

"So? I'll have to find a cure for both of us then. I promised her anyway."

"Wait! You… Father will be furious!" But it was too late. Law had already brushed Savenna's hair aside and placed his hand on her forehead feeling her temperature.

She was feverish. This was worse than he expected. His patient might be suffering from an unknown disease, but if he didn't do anything right now she would die from an ordinary fever. Wincing from the rib that was most definitely broken, he tried to lift her onto his back.

A stinging pain shot through his shoulder where someone's foot had managed to land a kick. But before Savenna could hit the ground again, he got hold of her arms and legs and hoisted her over his healthy shoulder like a bag of medical supplies and started walking. Both Lamie and the distant festival music had fallen silent.

At the Trafalgar house the doorbell rang repeatedly. Magdalena was mad with impatience when she flung the door open. "Finally! Where have you - Holy Roger!"

Law and Savenna dropped to her feet, the one exhausted, the other unconscious. Lamie started crying and flung her arms round the startled governess. "Miss Savenna! What…?"

"It was an accident!" Lamie cried and buried her face in Magdalena's skirt.

"Accident?" The governess' eyes darkened in Law's direction. "You were supposed to be careful!"

"It's not his fault!" Lamie protested but Law got back on his feet and pushed his sister aside. He didn't bother defending himself. "I'll explain everything later. But now Savenna needs help. She collapsed and her fever keeps getting worse."

"But your father isn't here! Sophia is still out and there's no one else home!" Magdalena's angry voice was now tainted with alarm. "I should have known better than to agree to this stupid plan… Why does she always manage to get herself in trouble?"

"We don't have time. We have to do without him." The governess shook her head in defeat. "What are you suggesting?"

Law had already thought it over. There weren't many options. "Her temperature is too high. I'll give her some of father's fever medication but I'm afraid it will take too long to kick in… But there's something else we can try. It's pretty old-fashioned but it should work," Law figured and turned to his sister. "Lamie, run upstairs and fill the bathtub with cold water."

"What should I do?" The governess forced herself to stay calm.

"Go down to the cellar, fill two buckets with ice from the freezer and meet me upstairs." Law watched both of them leave before picking up Savenna and heading for the stairs.

"Just hang in there, okay?" he pressed through his teeth. Savenna seemed to grow heavier with every step as he dragged her up to the second floor, hoping to make it down the hall without snapping his spine. Lamie held the door open then hid under the sink when Savenna was navigated toward the filling bathtub. In the water her hair floated like a white feather pillow.

"Is this enough?" Magdalena was standing in the doorway with the two ice buckets. Law nodded before emptying them into the tub. "We have to get her temperature down as fast as possible to avoid heart failure," he explained, placing another bag of ice onto Savenna's forehead. "Lamie, go down to the kitchen and get the key to father's office out of the

bottom drawer. When you're inside, open the second cabinet on the left and bring me one of the small green bottles. And fetch me a syringe, a sewing kit, bandages and a stethoscope," he ordered.

Sobbing silently, the girl didn't move. "Now, Lamie!" The threatening look on her brother's face made her cringe and she disappeared. Once she was gone, Law's face regained some of his old composure. "When the fever's down, she'll need a few stitches."

Magdalena observed the boy with suspicious bewilderment. She didn't know whether his calmness should reassure or worry her. It had been several weeks since she had moved in with the Trafalgar family and the boy had always struck her as a regular nerd. Quiet and polite.

But now she realized that there was more to Law than met the eye. What Savenna had seen in him. There was something either very right or very wrong with this child. He hardly flinched at a friend's possible demise. How was he so calm? Why wasn't he crying and throwing up? She sure felt like it. The governess pressed her lips together and watched him quietly. "What about you? How are you feeling?"

Law shrugged, mentioning neither the scratches nor the bruises hiding under his shirt. Magdalena chose not to ask. That could wait until morning.

When Lamie came back with the supplies she decided to put her trust in Law for better or worse and bring the poor girl to bed. She wouldn't be any good to him anyway.

It felt like an eternity until Savenna's fever started to drop. With the fatigue creeping over his eyes, Law kept sweeping her forehead until his fingers were numb from the cold. His thoughts were trapped in a vicious circle. If Savenna made it through the night, would she wake up in the morning? Would she remember what happened? Was it somehow linked to her illness and would eventually harm her too?

Having no answer to any of these questions, he decided to recite human bones in alphabetical order while continuing his exam. Soon he realized his arms weren't long enough to reach her heart. Stethoscope in hand, he let himself drop into the freezing bathtub where he found a slow but regular heartbeat. His fingers were shaking as he filled the syringe with another dose of his father's medication and injected it into Savenna's upper arm.

It was a bad shot, it would have hurt if she were awake. Law promised himself he'd do better next time. He floated next to his patient until he was certain she wouldn't die in the next twelve hours, and called for Magdalena.

The governess helped him carry the girl to bed, where she watched him clean and stitch Savenna's mysterious wounds in the light of the bedside lamp. It took Law two full hours to treat all the impacts of Pablo's fists, handling the newly whitened skin with utmost care. Lamie was already fast asleep when the governess finally tucked the older girl in.

From the doorway Law was still staring at his patient. His eyes were bloodshot, and blueish lips pressed together with anguish. "Why don't you get some sleep? I can take it from here," she suggested.

The boy nodded but stumbled when heading to the door. That's when she saw it, the limp, the sweat and the blood on his shirt that wasn't just Savenna's. Immediately Magdalena was ashamed of herself. "Why didn't you tell me you were injured?"

Law shrugged painfully. "I'm not the patient. The patients always go first…" His voice broke and tears filled the large gray eyes. Magdalena rushed to his side, desperately trying to figure out how to hold him without hurting him even more, but he backed away. "No… Don't touch me! You're going to be sick too!"

At this point she didn't know what he was talking about and she didn't really care. Law fought for another ten seconds before he gave in. His thin arms were badly scratched but he still managed to throw them around Magdalena. "I was so scared…" he croaked, shivering as if he'd caught Savenna's fever. "I'm so sorry! I should have done better. My father would have done better. I've never done this before. I'm so sorry!…"

Magdalena sighed. Nerves of steel or not, he was just a kid. "You did great, darling. Your father would be very proud of you, and I would trust you with my life anytime," she said, rocking him back and forth.

Poor Law. She knew from experience what impact Savenna's temper and devouring affection could have on people. Saying that this didn't make for many friends was an understatement. But the more she saw of Law the more it seemed like they weren't that different after all. Reckless and ferociously determined, but with a strong heart that took some time to reveal itself.

Later that night the governess took care of some of Law's minor injuries and by the time she was done, he had already passed out. With a little smile on her face Magdalena tucked him in and pressed a gentle kiss onto his forehead.

The sun had already reached the zenith when Savenna opened her eyes. The sunlight, tempered by half-closed blinds, danced in bright dots over her pillow. But that was all the pleasantness she would get.

Everything hurt. There was pain in places she didn't realize existed. She looked down and regretted it immediately. Her hands had turned completely white, the usual sting of Amber Lead spreading into each of her fingers. Holding her breath, she inspected the rest of

her body. With something between shock and amazement, she recorded the various bruises and stitches covering her rib cage. That is where they hit me. But that's all she could remember…

"Law thinks one rib might be broken but they need to do an x-ray to know for sure," a mild but tired voice remarked at Savenna's bedside. Magdalena was holding her long but uneven knitting in her hands. She put it down and slapped her across the face.

"Hey!" Savenna cried out. "What was that for?"

"For being a careless and selfish brat! But you could have figured that out on your own."

Savenna rubbed her cheek and stared at her governess with angry shame. Then her anger subsided. "I probably deserved that..." Magdalena nodded. "I'm glad you're awake. How are you feeling?"

"How bad was it?" Savenna asked instead.

"Bad. Apparently you passed out, caught a fever and the poor baby doctor nearly wrecked himself trying to help you."

"Law…" Savenna muttered. "He's the one who did this?" With a surge of panic she pointed at the stitches covering her arms and her stomach. The governess nodded and filled her in about the events of last night. Fighting the heath rising in her cheeks, she swore that she wouldn't make fun of his text books and dead animals again. Not that she would ever tell but she'd underestimated him. He wasn't just a good enough doctor to fix her up but also a good enough friend to carry her on his back all the way home.

Her feelings changed fast enough when she realized how little she had been wearing. Immediately, she tried to pull the remains of her clothes tighter around her waist but it hurt too much. "What about the Trafalgars?" she inquired. "Do they know what happened?"

Magdalena gave her a questioning look. "How was the doctor supposed to look past that?" she asked, pointing at the skin that had now completely turned.

"He was here?"

"First thing when he got home. After looking for his lost daughter and spending the night at the police station. I was surprised the man was still on his feet when he learned what happened to the three of you." Magdalena put the knitting down. "Law told him everything. There wasn't a way he wouldn't have found out. First he got mad but then congratulated him on his first living patient. A strange family…"

Savenna shivered. The way Magdalena put it, she might have died and it was only thanks to Law that she hadn't. Looking at the web of stitches, she told herself that this wouldn't happen again. She wouldn't die. Not today, not the day after, not ever. She was too afraid to. So if Law could cheat death, so would she.

"Are you all right, Miss?" Sudden concern in Magdalena's voice dispersed the delusion. Then the governess' features relaxed. "Why don't you tell me what happened?"

"Right…" It took Savenna some time to remember. She told her how Lamie had followed them, about their unfortunate encounter with Pablo and how she and Law had ended up on the front porch like two prisoners escaping Impel Down. The only part she left out was

the one she couldn't make sense of. She had seen the attackers fading before passing out. Even though she was sure it hadn't been a dream she had no explanation for it.

But that wasn't the only part she didn't understand. "How come you are not in trouble, anyway?" Savenna sat up in bed. "You helped me sneak out of the house."

"I lied."

"What?"

"Don't be so surprised, Miss. I'm your governess after all." Magdalena replied with a secretive smile. "And besides, I grew quite fond of little Law, too. It would be a shame if I couldn't watch you torment that one a little longer."

While Magdalena inspected her stitches for infection as she'd been instructed, Savenna's fingers traced the burning lines. She wasn't as much concerned about the scars as she was about the skin around it. Amber Lead dressed her in a dull, pale color, like a dress bleached too many times. Her hair hung about her like a limpid mane. But the most disturbing change was reflected in Magdalena's metal hairbrush; the dark of her defiant eyes had disappeared and Savenna was looking at herself through a pair of cloudy dots.

Bracing herself against a sudden wave of nausea, she focused on Magdalena and the whiff of her damned lavender soap that had already invaded the room. She inhaled until her lungs hurt and her head stopped spinning. She needed to get her act together.

"Maddy?"

"Yes, Miss?"

"Was that true what you said about the broken rib?"

"Not exactly…. I thought you'd deserved a little scare."

"Good." Savenna hissed as she climbed out of bed. "I'm getting dressed. I need to talk to Law."

After eluding numerous protests, Savenna was met with heavy cursing in the hallway. Amazed to hear her own language in this house she spotted Sophia groaning at the broom that kept slipping out of her fingers. Savenna's lips curled into a grin. Whatever Law had mixed into her tea had not only made her sleep through the whole thing but also left behind one hell of a hangover.

"I can hear you, brat." Sophia's cranky eyes were upon her surprisingly quickly. "The doctor has called for you. He'll leave soon for the hospital so you better hurry." Savenna could feel Sophia watching her until she had reached the bottom of the stairs.

The office was just down the hall but she headed in the opposite direction the moment

she was out of sight. The clock told her that it was way past noon. Law must have been up for hours. She would deal with the doctor later.

As cautiously as her shiny shoes permitted, she sneaked through the house until she found the library door slightly ajar. Carefully she stuck her head into the room, spotting the mushroom hat among piles of serious-looking books. She knocked louder than necessary.

When Law up his face darkened before disappearing behind the pages. Startled, Savenna closed the door behind her. "Morning to you too, Mushroom Head," she tried, unsure what was going on. Again Law pretended to be the only person in the room.

"Law…?"

"I'm not talking to you!" he hissed, slamming his book shut and reaching for another one. Savenna raised a questioning eyebrow. She wasn't used to being ignored and she wasn't going to change that. "Fine. Then I'll talk. I feel really bad about what happened last night. You got into trouble because of me and I wanted to apologize."

She thought it would be hard but the apology slipped off her tongue like the most natural thing. But Law didn't seem to care. Only as Savenna held her stance his eyes appeared slowly from under the rim of his hat, gaze icy. "Don't bother." Even though that look made her shiver she didn't let it show.

"Oh come on! I'm not your baby sister. It takes more than an angry mushroom stare to scare me off." Savenna guessed she might have overstepped when she saw his face redden with anger. With the intimidating force of an eleven-year-old Law slammed his book

shut. "You're the worst person I've ever met, you know that?"

None of the many insults she had prepared for such occasions had the time to be pronounced. Once Law had gathered the courage to speak he couldn't be stopped: "You may be the fearless Miss-I-rule-the-world who isn't afraid of anything, but you know what scares me? Seeing people I care about get hurt!"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb. Everyone told me you were bad news but I didn't care, I thought there's good in everyone, even you. Now I'm not so sure. I studied hard to find out what's wrong with you, I defended you when people at school gossiped about you, I even got beaten up for you and all you do is lie!"

"Lie? About what?" Silently, the answer popped up in her head. "Oh…"

Law had never been mister sunshine but now he had finally taken a trip to the dark side. "All this time I thought that this illness of yours was highly contagious. It took me two bandaged arms and a head injury to find out that wasn't even true! After I told my father what happened, he finally filled me in. I know everything about Amber Lead poisoning."

He stepped closer, fists clenched. "Was it about the festival? Did you just trick me to get what you wanted? Or was it because I have no other friends and you think I'd do everything you say? Either way, I hate you and I don't want to see you ever again!"

Savenna didn't expect his outburst to hurt as much as it did. It banned the stinging pain of Amber Lead to somewhere where she couldn't feel it any longer. She had completely forgotten about the lies and the agreement with his father. But Law staring her square in the eyes with nothing but contempt landed a hit. She didn't realize that she was biting her lip until she tasted blood.

"I'm sorry…" She felt strangely disorientated. "I didn't think you'd take it so seriously…"

"I'm a doctor. I take everything seriously!"

"But…" She realized she hadn't understood. Not really. "You treated me even though you thought you'd get sick?"

Law looked like something inside his skull was about to burst. "Of course I did! I promised. Promises actually mean something to me."

"In that case, you're an idiot, Mushroom Head." She resorted to insults because she had nothing better to say.

"Unlike you, I'm just someone who cares for my friends," he replied sharply. "And quit calling me that!"

Savenna realized that Law would probably never trust her again. It had been a while since she had seen someone so upset with her. A long time since she'd cared. She didn't mind hurting her parents because it was their duty to love her. But it wasn't Law's and if she didn't make it right they might never be friends again.

Under her breath, Savenna cursed. She should have stayed in bed after all. She didn't know how to do this, especially not with a boy wearing vegetable. "I do care," she heard herself counter. "It might not seem like that to you but I do! I care about Magdalena and Lamie. And even though you can be a jerk, I also care about you. That's why I lied about the Amber Lead in the first place… And as far as I know you still don't have any other friends."

It took a while for Law's gloomy expression to sharpen. "What do you mean?"

"Your father." Her voice wasn't as steady as she had hoped. "He wanted to protect you and asked me to keep quiet. We had an agreement but you just wouldn't leave it alone, so I had tried to scare you off so I didn't have to break my promise."

Savenna hated uncertainty so she held her breath waiting for it to pass. She didn't feel any remorse for exposing the doctor. He had brought this on himself. But she was afraid that learning this about his father would hurt Law even more. To her immense relief Law lifted his eyes and gave her something that looked like a smile.

An aggressive doorbell ended their conversation. Both squinted through the door crack to see Sophia hurrying down the stairs, massaging her temples. "Yes, yes, I'm coming. Calm down already…"

An array of particularly unhappy visitors met her at the front door. "Where is Dr. Trafalgar? We need to speak to him right now!" The expression on the man's face reflected a combination of anger and fear, desperately trying to hide the first.

"Of course. Just a minute. May I ask what this is regarding?" Sophie wanted to know.

"You can tell him it's about that horrible son of his!"

Law and Savenna exchanged looks. She was the one to regularly attract disgruntled parents and they both knew it. Covertly, they hurried under the stairs to get a closer look. "What did you do?" Savenna peered at the door with beaming excitement.

Law swallowed hard. "I might have done something… bad."

"How bad?" Savenna prodded. Law didn't have time to answer when his father arrived at the door. Even from under the stairs he looked exhausted. White coat hanging sadly over the broad shoulders, he faced the crowd like a much older man. "How can I help you?"

"You can undo the damage your son caused!"

From the look on his face Trafalgar wasn't used to being yelled at. "What are you talking about?"

The woman came closer without lowering her voice. "I would show you what he did to my son but as it is, none of our children are well enough to leave the house!"

Other parents gathered behind the first couple, nodding angrily. "Your son attacked our children last night during the festival! Not only did he beat them up, he..."

"I never knew a child could do such a thing…"

"I don't know how he managed it but I suppose you might. He probably took your needle and thread and…" the first mother continued. "And sewed all of their hands together! My poor boy Pablo in the middle!"

Savenna wasn't able to see the expression on the doctor's face and even with a major stretch of imagination it would have been hard to catch. A wave of shock and confusion spread through the group and Savenna turned to Law with genuine curiosity. His face had turned ashen. "What do I do now?"

"I'd go with run." She grabbed him by the hand and they made their way to the kitchen. The staff who had been pressing their ears to the door, begrudgingly dispersed when Savenna pushed Law through the lowest kitchen window before jumping through herself.

"Where to now?" she panted. Law hesitated before pointing at the fence separating the garden from the woods. After stomping through a bed of medical herbs and climbing the wooden fence, they ran through the woods and up the hill until Savenna's head started spinning.

She sprawled onto her back, inhaling deeply. She might have gotten over her fever but she did feel significantly weaker than before. Meanwhile Law was observing the house. After waiting for him to say something for an awful ten minutes, Savenna couldn't help herself "Is it true? Did you really do what they said?"

Law shrugged. "We needed to get out of there. You were unconscious, Lamie and I were hurt… I couldn't risk them waking up too soon, so I took precautions."

Somewhat content, Savenna imagined the look on Pablo's face when he realized he would be holding hands with his idiot friends for a very long time. Hopefully Trafalgar would need some extra hours to undo his son's security measure.

Though Law didn't seem as satisfied with his work. "I shouldn't have done it… I was scared that they'd come after us but it was wrong." Same as Trafaglar's walk, Law's sadness struck her as ancient. "Do you think they're right? You think I'm a monster too?"

Swiftly Savenna came closer and pressed a kiss on his cheek. She had always wanted to try it since she had read about it in a book. Law's face went through various shades of red until it settled on an agitated pink. Then he turned away and went on scowling over the valley. Savenna was unimpressed. She hadn't expected him to like it anyway. Maybe words worked better. "Stop torturing yourself. This is the coolest and nicest thing someone has ever done for me. If I had been a doctor I would have done it myself," she said.

"Really?" Law gave her a hesitating look.

"Really. Mushroom Head, you're the best! Even though I don't want to know why you carry needles around in your pockets like gum." She let herself fall back into the grass with a grin.

Although they were now in a lot more trouble than before, Savenna felt better than she had in a long time. When Law leaned back next to her, a small smile creased his lips. "It felt good too, though. They deserved it."

"I couldn't agree more. But the next time you want to impress me you can just buy me something pretty." After sinking further into her thoughts, she asked, "Am I really the worst person you've ever met?"

She felt him stiffen. "No…I didn't mean that… I was just…"

"Being mean?"

"I guess so… I'm sorry."

"No hard feelings. I can relate."

From up the hill they watched the staff scurrying around while the doctor came to some kind of agreement with his uninvited guests. Soon an ambulance snaked up the driveway before disappearing into the city center. Law and Savenna observed the events from a safe distance where they couldn't hear Sophia yelling their names.

"So Amber Lead poisoning, huh?" Law pretended to be busy pulling flower petals.

"Yep. Sucks ass." Savenna replied and watched how the sun reflected on her skin that was now as white as the city on the horizon.

"Father said it's genetic and comes from the first time our ancestors started using the metal. He also said that he's looking for a cure and now with the right information I might help him with the lab work." He tried to sound confident. "But I also did the math. We've waited too long. If we'd stopped digging a decade ago, we might have saved a lot of people. And if we don't do anything now there won't be a next generation for Flevance. The kids falling sick now won't grow old enough to have children of their own. Our generation might not outgrow the age of thirteen…" Law stopped suddenly as he realized who he was

sharing this information with. "Oh no! I didn't mean…"

"Don't." Savenna shot him a casual smile. "I've known for some time now. It's okay."

"But it doesn't have to be like this. There is a cure for every disease. We just have to find it."

"I'm sure we will," she said, thinking about the kid in school. To be honest, she would love to watch the poison tear Pablo and the others apart. Speaking of Pablo, there was still something that was bothering her. "Law, I need to ask you something. It's not about the illness, well not entirely…"

Alert, his eyes were thunderstorm gray. She'd never noticed. "Just before I fainted last night something strange happened," she said. "Pablo was there, ready to attack me but then out of nowhere he stopped. He collapsed but I didn't actually do anything… Do you remember anything about that?"

Law didn't have to remember. He hadn't stopped thinking about it. "You were just standing there. You looked scary - don't get me wrong, you're scary most of the time - but this was different. You were furious, your eyes went dark and then, whatever it was, it hit them really hard. As if you crazy-slapped them with your mind."

"But it didn't hurt you or Lamie, did it?"

Law shrugged. "I felt a little dizzy before their lights went out. But then it was already over and I was afraid that whatever you did had killed you in the process."

Savenna must have been missing something. Even with Law's account, it didn't make the least bit of sense. Even though she had always wanted to be one, she was no devil fruit user.

"I've been going to medical school for a couple of years now but I have never seen or read anything about this. Back at the library I was going through my father's books but there's no condition that fits the description," Law added, apologetically.

Savenna decided not to dwell on it. "At least I'm properly Amber Leaded now. I couldn't stand those ugly marks anyway." Savenna giggled but he didn't join in. "That was what my father wanted to talk to you about earlier."

"What do you mean?"

"The marks," Law answered furtively. "He'd never had a patient whose marks actually had the time to complete themselves. Every single patient died before the poison had time to spread. You should have died yesterday from that fever but you didn't. And that's what he doesn't understand."

"Couldn't that simply mean that you're a good doctor?" she asked, trying to cheer him up. But Law shook his head firmly. "No, but I think it might be something related to Pablo's sudden weakness. I just can't figure out what."

The silence between them was disturbed by a familiar sounding siren in the distance. Their eyes followed the ambulance rushing again through the Trafalgar gate. "Why is it coming back?" Law wondered.

"I don't know…"

Sophia nearly stumbled over the porch as she ran outside to meet the paramedics. She was closely followed by Magdalena carrying something. But as she saw the fabric of a pink dress Savenna realized it was a someone.

"Lamie!" Law jumped back on his feet. From the distance the little girl seemed to hang motionless in Magdalena's arms. Savenna wondered what happened but deep down she knew it already.

Law was already halfway down the hill. She took a breath and rushed down after him.
